They were at the gala.
 
Just like any other affluent party, there were huge pieces of jewelry, designer clothes made by foreign names, alcohol imported from Europe, and a whole lot of snobs that Jisoo can't tolerate. If she had the choice to just stay at home and relax with her family, she would've done it hours ago. But she doesn't. Jisoo was one of the major stockholders for this particular company, so her appearance was more than needed. Minute by minute, her patience is running out with how slow the event was going. It became so mind-numbing, that she wonders why did she even invest in the first place.
 
She subtly glances at her watch. There were a few hours left. Jisoo was wearing a green satin dress, backless that flowed down to her knees. She wishes that she opted for something with a coat—who the hell knew this place would lack in degrees.
 
It wasn't all too bad. Some of her friends, who were fellow business partners, were at the party as well mingling with each other. And, she also bought Jennie. She glances briefly, making sure it wasn't too obvious that her attention wasn't anywhere near to this rambling man. There she was. Jennie was wearing a similar outfit, though hers had a slit that runs down her leg. Her hair was down and curled, hand holding a Judith Lieber clutch.
 
Jisoo swallowed. They saw each other dress and get ready for the gala, but Jennie never fails to steal her breath away with her beauty. She smiles, feeling lucky all of a sudden that she made this kind and smart woman was her wife. And that she was hers. Jennie was laughing without constraint, surrounded by her peers, and was drinking good wine without any worries. Jisoo thinks it was the most beautiful sight.


She had just finished speaking to her seventh potential business partner of the night. At this point, her brain had melted, and her fake smile was beginning to sore her face.
 
Jisoo placed a firm handshake and a stiff grin. She was a bit guilty because the man she had spoken to looked genuine.
 
"I'll be looking forward to doing business with you," he says, both of his palms covering her hand like she was a highness gracing his presence.
 
"Likewise."

"I'll give you a call if I've made some arrangements."

"I'll be expecting." Then, he leaves. Jisoo lets out a sigh, fixing her earring out of boredom.
 
On the other side of the room, Jennie was still chatting along with her friends over wine and cheese. They were gossiping about the trophy wives present in the room. Chaeyoung, one of her camaraderie, was munching on a piece of biscuit, while she speaks in a hushed tone, eyes bulging on each emphasis. The other girls leaned forward, as well. Just as invested with Chaeyoung's story.
 
"Apparently, he has a mistress... and they married for the sake of their companies."
