Yu Yan's POV.

It was a Sunday, a month passed from the day that I met Zeng Keni. We lived together quite peacefully but of course there were days when I wanted to kill her. Keni was just Keni. I knew her for only a month but I knew almost everything about her personality. She cried very often, she was clumsy, she didn't know how to cook, was lazy when she had to clean the apartment, she was noisy and she forgot or lost almost everything.

The said girl was somewhere out with her friends and I was at home, sitting in my room and studying for my upcoming tests. About three hours passed when my stomach started to feel a little hungry. I would say it's normal, cause I didn't eat since yesterday. My breakfast was just a simple coffee and a cigarette which is terrible, but I noticed my body getting quite bigger and I didn't want that. I was known for my almost perfect and slim body which I worked very hard for it. I decided to go on another diet which means: no meat, only fruits and vegetables, a little bit of carbs and doing a lot of cardio as well. There were days when my body wasn't feeling well and my stomach was dying from emptiness but I had to go with it, as there is the saying: "No pain, no gain".

I stood up from my desk and went to the kitchen to eat something light. I was peeling a carrot when a notification popped up on my phone. Putting down the carrot, my hand grabbed the cellphone so I could read it.

"I won't be home until the night."

It was a short message from Keni...

I chuckled at her cuteness. Every time she stayed out late, she wrote me a text or called me so I wouldn't have to worry about her. It's not like I would be worrying where she is, she is an adult after all, even older than me.

But still... It's cute.

After a salad for a lunch, I grabbed my guitar and started to strum some random song. I loved the feeling of being alone, just me and my guitar.

When I was younger I wanted to be a singer, but my dream shattered when my parents divorced. My mother supported my dream to be a singer and my father didn't. I wanted to be with mom of course and I know it sounds terrible but I liked her more than my father. Mother didn't want me though. It was not that she didn't love me but she wanted a brighter future for me. She persuaded me to stay with my father instead of her and I did as she told me, but after a year she died in a car accident. I wanted the bright future that she wanted for me, so I listened to my father and went to a college. I didn't give up singing completely though, from time to time I still end up at some random bar or a restaurant and play my guitar, letting a bunch of people listen to my voice.

It was about 4PM when I decided to go for a nice afternoon jog at the nearest park. I changed to my workout clothes, put on my sneakers, played my running playlist and went out. The almost cold wind was hitting my skin slightly as the feeling of the autumn air filled my lungs. Amazing was the perfect word to describe how I felt when I ran. The sun was starting to set slowly before I finished my final round around the park. Being quite exhausted, my body just fell down onto the grass as my eyes watched the beautiful scenery in front of me.

"Beautiful isn't it?"

Hearing the sentence I looked to my left side and saw a cute young girl watching the sky together with me.

"Yeah, it is." I smiled at her as she did at me too.

"Can I sit here as well?" she asked, looking adorably shy.

I nodded my head and the girl smiled thankfully, putting her backpack on the ground as she sat beside me.

"I'm Sharon Wang by the way, 20 years old. I like dogs, cats and cute things. My hobby is dancing and I am afraid of spiders."

The girl surprised me with her sudden introduction, still her hand reached for my hand to shake with it.

Gently squeezing her it in return, a laugh escaped my lips, "My name is Yu Yan, 23 years old. I like to cook, draw and sing. I'm scared of heights. Nice to meet you Sharon"

Spark appearing in Sharon eyes at my introduction was unforgettable, she looked much younger than 20. The cute smile with one tooth slightly crooked and her half-moon eyes sparkling with happiness made me melt. She looked so innocent. Like a new-born baby which didn't experience the struggles of life at all.

Both of us were sitting on the grass, talking and watching the sky as the time flew rapidly. The sky was getting dark when she told me she had to go home so I offered her to walk her to her house, which she gladly accepted. Surprisingly, her house was only a few block away which wasn't that far. As we came in front of her house and said goodbye to each other Sharon asked me for my number, saying she wanted to be my friend. Agreeing, I gave her my phone number as she gave me hers before going inside the house, waving her hand and saying goodbye before closing the doors.

Feeling happy at meeting the younger girl I started to walk home as well. Unlocking the door to my apartment, my eyes noticed that Keni isn't still here so I went to have a shower and wash away all the workout sweat. After my body was as clean as possible and I put on my pajamas with a hoodie over it, my hand reached for a lighter as I went on the terrace to have a smoke. I knew that Keni messaged me that she would be late, but it was almost 12PM. The older girl was probably partying like two weeks ago. I laughed at the memory of her being wasted at that time and at her attempt of unlocking the front door or even taking off her shoes.

Feeling bored, I sat on our couch to put on a TV as my exhausted body snuggled into my favorite blanket.

I just wanted to start a movie when I heard the noise of doors unlocking.

"Oh, hey Yanzi. Are you not asleep yet?"

Head turning to the tall brunette as I smiled and patted the spot next to me, "Did you have a fun today? I'm surprised that you are not that drunk as you were the last time."

Keni sat beside me and grabbed a piece of my blanket to put it over her own body, "Just for you to know, I don't get wasted all the time and yes, it was fun today. We did watch a very boring movie though. Lingzi is just so bad at picking out movies."

As she was complaining, Keni grabbed the TV controller to press the play button which made me chuckle, "Are you sure you wanna watch this film with me? It's a horror movie and you are scared of literally everything."

Furrowing her eyebrows in disagreement, Keni hit me on the shoulder before putting her head on it. I wanted to watch the Evil dead, which was a little bit scary or I would say, rather brutal because of the hand-cutting scene or the scenes similar to it.

Looking to my left, I saw Keni's eyes closed from fear she was experiencing as I felt my right hand being almost numb from the insane grip on it. The scream I heard from her was very loud and happening every 5 minutes. I knew that she would be scared, still it expanded my expectations. When the movie was finally over, Keni was hugging me as if her life depended on it. The track of her withering tears was still evident on her slightly chubby cheeks.

"Come on Keni, it wasn't that bad at all. Stop shaking like a washing machine, you make me worry about you" I said to her, laughing a little as my hand her silky brown hair slowly. "We should go to sleep, it's past 3AM..."

"I don't think I can fall asleep... I'm too scared Yu Yan." She sobbed, tightening her grip on me.

"Hold on Keni, I can end up dying if you would crush my bones like that. You still can sleep with your lights on."

Nodding her head in agreement, the grip around me loosened as I grabbed her bridal style, obviously surprising her as my arms carried her to the bathroom to wash-up.

Keni looked into the mirror, seeing her makeup all smuggled as she pouted, "I look so terrible! Look at me Yu Yan!"

"I don't get it... What are you so afraid of when you look a lot scarier than ghosts? I think they should be scared of you instead." I laughed at her, almost spitting my toothpaste everywhere.

"You are so mean Yu Yan!"

Going to my bed, I finally let my body rest after a long day. It wasn't even 20 minutes later when I heard a light knocking on my door, before they opened a little. Keni's head shape appeared in the gap, too dark to see her features more prominently.

"Yan? Are you still awake?" She whispered softly, opening the door more before stepping in.

My head turned to her direction, body sitting up as I rubbed my eyes slowly, "Now I am. What's wrong?"

"Can I sleep with you tonight please? I am still scared." She asked me with so much innocence and cuteness in her voice that I could die from it.

Moving to the side of my bed for her to lie down, I opened my blanket and pated the spot next to me as I whispered softly, "Come here Keni..."

The tall figure went to lie down next to my body and under the fluffy blanket.

"You know Yan? I didn't know that you could be so soft sometimes."

Feeling her head on my chest and her arms hugging me loosely, I her hair again as my other hand intertwined with hers. "You know Keni? How can you stink so much after only one day of not showering?"

"You are so mean!"
