Interlude
Crash and BurnThe steady beeping of a machine was augmented by the quieter, faster beep of another. The room seemed sterile and cold, and Yoohyeon shivered as she looked about the area. It was a hospital room, with cold grey walls that seemed like something out of an old asylum, and sparse furnishings of one bed, one small bedside dresser, and one uncomfortable looking chair.
It was the person in the chair that caught her attention first, because she recognized that figure. Her mother sat there, tears on her cheeks as she leaned forward, grasping the hand of the person laying in the bed. Yoohyeon had never been particularly close to any of her family, but she felt a lurch in her heart as she thought that something must have happened to her father. She turned her gaze on the bed, expecting to see her dad...
And instead, she saw herself.
Eyes closed to the distress her mother was showing, Yoohyeon lay in the bed, IVs and wires and tubes all coming out of her body and attaching to machines. Her face was bruised badly, her head wrapped in bandages that were discolored with blood underneath them. Her long blonde hair was nowhere to be seen and somehow she knew that it had been shaved off, taken away so that the doctors could do the necessary surgery to try and stop the bleeding in her brain. Her neck was in a sterile while brace, her left arm fully encased in a cast, and though she couldn't see her legs because of the blanket, she knew, just as she knew about the hai
