Part IXWhen Seungri opened his eyes, it was to the sight of the television’s black screen reflecting him. He could see the tiredness and emptiness of his eyes that made him look away. The sight reminded him too much of the numbness he felt gripping his heart.
He felt strong arms gripping his waist and looked down to see Jacob’s lean muscle encircling him. When otherwise the sight would’ve given him an echo of safety, a feeling of protection, now, it felt nothing like cages that kept him in place, like shackles on his body preventing him from going anywhere else but here.
But where else would I go? Where else is safer than his lover’s arms?
He heard Jacob sighed contentedly, as if the disarrayed world has finally shifted correctly.
Seungri had to suppress the shiver that overcame him. He could feel his heart beating wildly again, his palms sweating, his mind numbing down the noise until all he could hear was his heavy breathing.
Fortunately, Jacob merely stirred. Too lost in his dream to wake up.
For a while, Seungri stayed where he was. His eyes steady over the sight of the lean arms circling him. His mind was forming thoughts, yet all they felt to him were mere whispers, words appearing in his head but quickly fading away before they could form any coherent thought.
It was like he was consecutively silencing the cries of his own making.
He closed his eyes and wished that he’ll wake up to a different tomorrow. A different day. A different life. A different him.
Unfortunately, Seungri didn’t.
When he opened his eyes next, it was to the sight of their bedroom ceiling. It was bland, just as any part of the house he couldn’t call his own. It was a pale beige color, the same shade as the wall, the floor, the tiles—they’re all the same…
He could hear Jacob’s snore beside him. And he tried not to flinch as his lover’s breath grazed his skin. Seungri had to look away from the sight of him, looking all innocently as if he hadn’t hurt Seungri deeply just an hour ago.
