Confrontation

Hopelessly In Love With You

It was Sunday today. Their 7th day together. And today, Wendy was excited to spend the whole day with her soulmate. She had worked extra hours the last few days so that she could have whole day with Irene. Feeling too excited, Wendy made all of Irene’s favourite dishes and packed them neatly in a cute basket. The unbelievable hours they had spent meeting and texting the last few days was absolutely magical. They just couldn’t get enough of each other. What was weird was that they already knew so much about each other. Likes, dislikes, fears, life, everything.

As soon as Wendy was done wearing casual clothes, the bell to her door rang. Knowing who this person is, she jogged towards the front door, opening it at once. Her lips curled up as she leaned forward for a warm hug. This was also a celebration date. Wendy had graduated yesterday and this was a big deal.

“Ready?,” Irene asked, placing a kiss over the blonde’s head.

“Give me a second,” Wendy nodded and went to the living room, picking up the basket and her phone.

“Yes let’s go,” Wendy grinned, holding Irene’s hand and excitedly going outside.

Seeing how cheerful and happy the younger woman looked, Irene smiled too. She had never experienced so much affection from someone. No one had felt so happy to see her before.

“Where are we going?,” Wendy asked when Irene opened the car door for us.

The younger one got in and buckled her seat belt in the gorgeous white sports car. Irene got in too and winked before starting the engine.

“We’re going someplace far away,” Irene said as she started driving.

“Hyun? Where are your bodyguards? Is it safe for you to go out like this?,” Wendy asked, furrowing her eyebrows as she looked around for any trace of security.

“Yes. As long as there is not too much crowd around,” Irene nodded in a smile.

“What’s that?,” Irene questioned, pointing at the basket in the younger girl’s lap.

“Oh you said you rarely get to eat home-cooked food so I made you something,” Wendy replied casually, looking outside the window.

“For me?,” Irene pointed at herself with a look of disbelief.

“For who else?,” Wendy giggled at her surprised girlfriend.

“No one has cooked for me before..,” Irene mumbled to herself, her cheeks heating up at the loving gesture.

Irene sped her car up, wanting to reach the outer part of the city soon. She has a nice hideout spot which no one except her knows. It’s a small beach on the way to another city about 100 miles away. She had found this when she was travelling alone a few years back.

As the drive was a little long, Wendy dozed off, her head tilted over her own shoulder. When the older woman saw this, she stopped the car, using a collar pillow to put around her Wendy’s neck. She didn’t want the blonde to get a sore neck when they reached.

“You’re a sleepy head hmm?,” Irene asked looking at the girl who was mumbling in her sleep.

Irene then continued driving, already being able to see empty surroundings, filled with green lush fields.

After about 2 hours more, Irene came to a stop, pulling the car to the edge of the beach.

“Seungwan? We’re here baby,” Irene gently shook the asleep hamster.

Wendy slowly opened her eyes, squinting them due to the sudden light. She rubbed them cutely before giving out a refreshing yawn. Once she adjusted to the surroundings, a squeal came out of her, startling Irene who was sitting on the side.

“A beach!,” Wendy’s face lit up, getting out of the car at once.

“I suppose you love beaches?,” Irene asked, wriggling her eyebrows as she took out some towels from the car.

“Yes yes very much,” Wendy nodded her head, jumping up and down before pulling Irene’s hand to take them closer to the waves.

“We have all day baby,” Irene said in a muffled giggle.

Wendy stopped rushing but froze altogether. She turned around with a puzzled face and a blush on her cheeks, looking at the older girl in front of her.

“What’s wrong?,” Irene asked, frowning slightly.

“Baby?,” Wendy asked in barely above a whisper.

It was Irene’s turn to flush now when she realised that she called the younger girl ‘baby’ twice in the last 5 minutes.

“I’m sorry.. do you mind it? I accidentally said it.. I don’t know what—,” Irene scratched the back of her neck but was interrupted by a peck on her lips.

“No I don’t,” Wendy said. It actually makes my stomach to get butterflies.

Irene grinned, satisfied with the answer but before she could kiss the blonde in the way she wants, she found herself being dragged towards the centre of the small beach once again.

“Can we swim please!,” Wendy asked hopefully with puppy eyes.

“Swim? Okay,” Irene said.

I would never do this but anything for you.

Irene said.

“Turn around Joohyun,” Wendy stated.

“Why?,” Irene asked in confusion.

“I need to undress,” Wendy said, fidgeting impatiently.

Irene gulped before turning around, finding it painful to see Wendy handing her the top first, followed by the shorts.

“Wait till I go in okay?,” Wendy said from the behind.

Irene could only nod as she kept the clothes in a white laundry bag. When she heard the younger girl calling out to her, Irene exhaled the breath she had been holding.

“Come in!,” Wendy said, water already coming till her chest.

Irene undressed too, not caring if the blonde sees her. After keeping the clothes and their belongings over a towel, Irene went inside the warm waves, shivering a bit due to the sudden wetness. She made her way to Wendy who was moving further into the ocean.

“Yah wait for me,” Irene called out, moving faster.

“Catch me Hyun-ah,” Wendy said playfully, swimming further away.

“Don’t you challenge me,” Irene warned in a smirk furiously, splashing water all around before lunging at the blonde who was a few feet away from her.

Wendy screamed in surprise when a pair of arms wrapped around her stomach. Irene who had fun doing this came back up, holding Wendy in her arms now.

“Caught you,” Irene nuzzled her nose with Wendy’s in an eskimo kiss.

“You were fast,” Wendy giggled, placing a peck over the brunette’s lips.

“I’ve never done something like this before,” Irene said, feeling their bodies fitting perfectly with each others in the cool yet warm water.

Wendy had her arms around Irene’s neck whereas the latter was holding her by her lean curvy waist.

“Well lover.. get used to it,” Wendy smiled, linking their lips for the nth time.

Irene deepened the sweet intoxicating kiss, the flow of tingling excitement taking over their bodies. After pulling away, Irene hugged Wendy, trying to prolong this moment. She wished she could stay like this.

“Hyun?,” Wendy called out, resting her chin over the older woman’s shoulder.

“Hmm?,”

“Don’t leave me..,” Wendy said, almost pleaded. These few days they passed together were the most happiest days of her life. Never once had someone cared so much about her. For the first time, she felt truly loved. And now that she felt loved, she didn’t want this feeling to go. She didn’t want her Joohyun to leave.

“Never,” Irene reassured, knowing there was no way someone was going to take away her precious girl.

Wendy smiled, placing some innocent kisses on Irene’s shoulder, making the older one’s heart to beat faster.

“Let’s eat? I’m starving,” Irene asked, pulling away from the hug.

Wendy nodded and then both of them made their way outside the ocean. Now that Wendy’s body was out in the view, Irene blushed furiously, proud at how hot the younger girl was. Blonde hair, milky white smooth skin, red lingerie. Wendy’s body was perfect and the most beautiful one she has seen.

After they dried up and wore their clothes back, they sat down on a towel, enjoying the sun which was slowly going down. They had been playing around for 2 hours now and it was already 4 pm.

When Irene opened the basket, her eyes widened to see all her favourite dishes which could be packed. Some cutlets with small cute tuna sandwiches, her favorite watermelon juice and some chips. Her stomach growled internally and they both started to dig in.

“I lobe thish,” Irene said with mouthful of food.

Wendy chuckled, coming closer to the messy older girl, wiping off the sauce on her lips.

“Aren’t you cute?,” Wendy said in a smile, sipping on her drink.

“Excuse me?,” Irene gulped down her food, glaring coldly towards the blonde.

“I am not cute. People are terrified of me. You are cute. C. U. T. E,” Irene spelled out the word, offended to be labelled cute.

Wendy just laughed heartily, leaning closer to peck Irene’s cheek.

“Whatever you say,” Wendy agreed, concentrating on her sandwich now.

After eating and cleaning up, they both lied down on the towel, their hands interlinked and their bodies close and next to each other. Their gaze was set on the sun which was slowly dipping down in the horizon, painting the sky orange and black.

“What are we?,” Wendy asked, barely above a whisper.

“You’re my baby,” Irene replied, not missing a beat.

Wendy rolled her eyes, smacking Irene lightly. They had known each other since just a week and they were extremely attached and close. Seriously. What were they?

“Be my girlfriend,” Irene asked, almost demandingly.

Wendy’s eyes widened at the rude statement and she sat up, glaring with a comical expression.

“I’m sorry.. that came out wrong,” Irene frowned, looking at their interlinked hands.

“I-I haven’t done this before and well.. I was wondering if—,” Irene started again, making up words awkwardly.

“I would love to,” Wendy said, lunging forward to hug her bunny.

Irene’s back met the ground with Wendy safely wrapped in her arms above her.

“I love you girlfriend,” Wendy said, pecking Irene’s face continuously.

Irene giggled remembering how usually she was the one peppering these kisses over the blonde.

“I love you too baby,” Irene replied, both of them smiling and laughing in each others arms, rolling on the ground.

After dropping Wendy off, Irene went back to her mansion. But oh boy, she almost got a heart attack as soon as her car entered the gates.

Father..

Irene mumbled to herself.

Already on the verge of getting a panic attack, Irene parked her car, making her way inside her mansion. Just when she went in, she could hear commotion from inside.

She went into the living room, her heart beating inside her chest. What she saw, was not what she was expecting.

“Mom dad? Seulgi?,” Irene said, confused as to what was happening.

“Joohyun,” Donghae called out.

With the furious expression on her dad’s face, Irene knew her end was near. She was never close with her dad. It was all business. In fact, she was scared of him.

“Dad? What’s happening here?,” Irene asked, regaining her composure as she went forward, taking a look at her ex-fiancée who looked like a kicked puppy.

“Do you care to explain.. why you two have broken your marriage?,” Boa asked, raising her eyebrows at her daughter.

“Seulgi said it was mutual. Is it true?,” Donghae asked.

“Yes it is. We have been unhappy with each since quite some time now. There have been fights and it’s not working out,” Irene spoke up, remembering whatever her and Seulgi had practiced before.

“You know that by doing this.. you’re cancelling a business deal here. You’re cancelling a partnership,” Donghae spoke up, clearly annoyed by the news.

“We can still have this deal.. just no marriage,” Irene said, barely above a whisper.

“Are you seeing someone?,” Donghae asked angrily, face red furiously.

Irene’s heart almost exploded against her chest, wondering what to say.

Say this for Wendy.

Irene told herself.

Dad would understand..

Irene thought.

Taking a breath of courage, Irene took a step forward towards her father.

“Yes I am,” Irene said, making eye contact with the older man.

No, he wouldn’t understand..

Irene changed her words, eyebrows furrowing.

Donghae raised his hand, slapping across Irene’s face, leaving a red bruise. The brunette, felt her blood boiling at the incident.

What had she done so wrong?

Irene asked herself, tears on the verge of falling.

“Please.. sir don’t,” Seulgi stood up, coming by Irene’s side to stop the Donghae from hitting his daughter more.

“Is this why you persuaded her to break up with you?! Do you think this is a joke?! Did I raise you to be like this?!!,” Donghae shouted, ready to explode.

Irene’s hands fisted tightly, making her nails to leave marks.

“It was mutual sir.. we both wanted that I assure you,” Seulgi spoke up, trying to control the situation.

“Dad stop!,” Yeri who was seeing everything from the staircase rushed towards the scene, coming in between her dad and her sister.

“Yeri go to your room,” Boa said in a cracked voice, stressed at the situation.

“So what if unnie loves someone else? What’s the problem?! Isn’t she allowed to have a life for one?! Why do you treat her like a puppet for your needs?!,” Yeri shouted.

*SLAP*

Yeri held her cheek between her palms, tears rolling down her face. She had never in her life expected her father to slap her.

But for Irene, this wasn’t something new. Her dad had often lost his patience and beaten her up with a slap or two in the past. But when she saw Donghae slapping Yeri, all hells broke lose.

With a composed face, she pushed Yeri behind her, having a consistent and cold eye contact with her father.

“Don’t.. ever.. hit her again. Do you understand?,” Irene spat out, daggers shooting from her eyes.

“What ungrateful brats I’ve raised. Are you hearing this Boa? Look at what pathetic children you have raised!!,” Donghae shouted.

Irene who couldn’t hold it in anymore, held Yeri by her wrist and started to walk out of the mansion.

“Where are you going?,” Boa asked, following her daughters.

“Away from here,” Irene said in a heavy voice, not sparing a glance at her mother.

Donghae who had gone into his room from where breaking noises could be heard was definitely angry. And Irene was not going to stay there any longer. Not if she’s treated like this. She knew how dangerous her father was.

“Can you drive us?,” Irene asked, sitting in Seulgi’s car without waiting for an answer.

Seulgi got on the drivers seat of her black sports car, driving away before she could be stopped by the guards.

“I’ll tell you the way,” Irene said from the side.

Seulgi drove quietly, knowing this was not a moment to comfort or ask questions. She followed the way Irene was guiding and found themselves around SM university area. She could tell that this was a crowded neighbourhood where no rich people like them lived.

“Are you okay?,” Seulgi asked when she stopped the car beside a house.

“Can you help us up please?,” Irene asked, seeing her sister was too shaken up on the backseat.

Seulgi nodded, her and Irene both helping Yeri out of the car. The younger one was still sobbing, holding Irene’s hand tightly. They went up the first floor, ringing the bell to the familiar house. Irene didn’t want to be someplace else. Wendy’s place was the only safe option at the moment. God knows when her father loses it and starts tracking them in their other mansions.

Wendy who had opened the door was left with wide eyes. She let the three girls in, getting them water straight away.

Wendy who had also noticed Irene’s and Yeri’s bruised faces didn’t ask any questions and readied two small ice packs, handing them to Irene.

“Thanks,” Irene smiled weakly, placing the ice pack over her sister’s red cheek.

Once she was done bringing down the redness, she kept the ice pack down on the table in front of her.

Wendy who was not satisfied, picked up the pack and put it on her girlfriend’s cheek with a worried frown on her face.

“What happened?!,” Joy asked in panic when she saw the scene in her living room. She was sleeping but suddenly heard some commotion from outside.

Joy came beside her best friend, hugging the youngest girl from the side. Yeri who was sobbing since some time, calmed down in the warmth, letting the taller girl wipe her tears.

“Our dad.. he’s crazy.. he lost it when he got to know about me dating someone else and us getting broken up,” Irene said, her voice tired and as low as it could be.

“Joy take Yeri to your room,” Wendy commanded.

Joy nodded, helping Yeri up and leading them to their room for the night. Once they were gone, Wendy and Seulgi sat down beside Irene who was shaken up as well.

“Let’s discuss this tomorrow. It’s 2 am and you need rest,” Wendy said, her hand drawing patterns over Irene’s strained one.

“That’s a good idea. I’ll come here tomorrow?,” Seulgi said, standing up.

“Um.. you can stay here,” Wendy asked looking up at her girlfriend’s ex.

“I have to handle the situation at our place. Tell mom and dad what has happened. They must be freaked out,” Seulgi said, refusing politely.

Wendy nodded, understanding this was a bad situation. Once Seulgi left, Wendy helped Irene to her room, giving her some comfortable clothes to change into.

“Why don’t you take a bath?,” Wendy asked, taking Irene to the washroom and giving her a spare new toothbrush.

Irene nodded, closing the door and undressing herself. She took a hot water shower, feeling considerably better. After washing up, she came outside and got up on the bed.

Wendy hugged her girlfriend from the front after dimming the lights. They could still see each other through the warm yellow light from the night-lamp on the side table.

“It’ll be okay Joohyun..,” Wendy whispered, looking into Irene’s brown eyes which looked painful.

That did it for Irene.

Like a waterfall, her tears came loose, rolling down her eyes. Wendy got closer to the older woman, herself feeling hurtful seeing her girlfriend in such a state.

“Shh.. I’m here for you,” Wendy said, letting Irene cry on her neck.

“H-He slapped us... he always slapped me but he hit Yeri too..,” Irene said between cries, clutching onto the younger one’s top.

Wendy remained quiet, just rubbed the brunette’s back soothingly, indicating her to go forward.

“I hate him Seungwan... H-He uses me.. he used me my whole life..,” Irene confessed, breaking down her most tough wall of heart.

She had always been scared to admit this. Again and again, she had told herself that her father did love her in some way. Turns out that way was only business-minded. She was treated like a puppet. Not allowed to make any friends, just told to work and study, attend meetings and marry. She was trained in martial arts, taught how to use a gun and shoot their opponent. She was a witness so many murders her father did with his own hands. Her father was a freaking monster and she was too blind to see it till today.

“I don’t want to stay there.. I-I want to go away..,” Irene sniffed, pulling back and finally looking into Wendy’s eyes which radiated nothing but love.

“Let’s go then,” Wendy said.

“It’s not that easy..,” Irene spoke, furrowing her eyebrows.

“He’ll kill you... if he gets to know. I shouldn’t be here Seungwan.. I’m putting your life in danger. I should go..,” Irene said in panic, trying to sit up to go.

Wendy forcefully pulled Irene back down, hugging her tighter than she ever has.

“I don’t care.. I will die for you. I love you Hyun. I love you,” Wendy repeated, feeling the older woman shaking in her arms.

“We’ll figure this out. We’ll get out from here,” Wendy said softly, placing a kiss over her girlfriend’s flushed cheek.

“We don’t have any money.. all my credit cards.. I know he would have blocked,” Irene said, voice as vulnerable as ever.

“Did you forget? I graduated yesterday. It was May. I can get a job. I have some savings. If you’re serious about going away with me... I will arrange everything,” Wendy said, as serious and focused as ever.

“I-I can’t let you.. spend so much on me.. and there’s Yeri too,” Irene said, looking down staring at Wendy’s neck blankly.

“What’s your qualification Joohyun?,” Wendy asked firmly. She knew how smart and educated her girlfriend was.

Irene looked up, staring into the honey brown orbs which were burning.

“Ph.D in Business Management,” Irene spoke barely above a whisper.

“My girlfriend’s the smartest person I know. Most beautiful, highly educated who can get a job wherever the hell she wants. She doesn’t need some support or silver spoon in to give her confidence. I’ve seen the way you work. I’ve seen the seriousness and heart you put. You don’t need you father do you hear me?,” Wendy said, holding Irene’s face between her palms.

Hearing this made Irene’s heart to beat faster. Wendy was right. Where was all her confidence? Where was her dignity? Of course she’s well on her own. She doesn’t need to live in someone’s shadow her whole life. She doesn’t need to live such a demanding life where there was no happiness.

“I want to run away with you,” Irene said, leaning forward as she linked their lips together, kissing for a few moments. Wendy could feel the passion, the desire, the love between them. Like a wave of solace, they both were washed, going into a small world they’ve created for each other in each other’s embrace.

“I love you.. Hyun-ah,” Wendy whispered as their foreheads pressed against each others.

“We’ll figure this out.. I promise,” Wendy continued, opening her eyes to see Irene looking into hers.

“Thank you..,” Irene whispered back, snuggling into the arms for more warmth than she already was experiencing.

When the next morning came, Wendy carefully slipped out of the covers, not disturbing her peacefully asleep girlfriend. After closing the door, Wendy went to the kitchen and to her surprise, she saw Yeri snooping around the fridge.

“Good morning,” Wendy greeted in a smile, going closer to see what was wrong.

“Uh.. hi unnie.. um.. I was just..,” Yeri scratched her neck, unable to find words. But her answer was given when her stomach growled loudly.

“Let’s make you something to eat,” Wendy smiled warmly, patting the embarrassed girl’s cheek twice.

“I’m sorry to disturb you..,” Yeri mumbled.

“You’re not. You’re Joohyun’s sister so that makes you my younger sister too,” Wendy said, taking out some eggs from the fridge.

“French toast?,” Wendy asked, looking at the younger girl who was smiling widely.

Yeri nodded and leaned against the counter, watching Wendy effortlessly preparing their breakfast. Once the blonde was done, she placed a plate of french toast and some coffee on the table in front of the hungry girl.

Yeri started to dig in at once, not caring about having someone’s eyes on her.

“Easy tiger.. there’s a lot of time,” Wendy chuckled, sitting beside the younger girl.

Yeri nodded in more embarrassment and slowed down. She ate in silence, now at a normal pace. After she was finished, she kept the dishes in the sink and came back to where she was seated.

“Just ask me whenever you’re hungry,” Wendy added.

“Thank you,” Yeri said, looking down at her hands.

“Needless,” Wendy replied, holding Yeri’s hand in hers, surprising the latter.

“Have I ever told you how strong of a person you are?,” Wendy said, coming forward and hugging the younger girl who was just a little bit taller than her.

Yeri who melted in the hug, snuggled closer to the blonde, enjoying the warmness.

“Irene unnie is right. Your hugs are magical,” Yeri joked, earning a chuckle.

“It’s free for you,” Wendy went on with the joke.

“Everything will be okay. Joohyun and I will make sure you’ll be okay too,” Wendy said, pulling away and holding the eye contact with the younger girl.

“You’re good unnie. Please marry Irene unnie,” Yeri asked with puppy eyes.

“W-What?,” Wendy blushed at the sudden comment.

“I’m joking,” Yeri laughed seeing how flustered Wendy got from her teasing.

Wendy just nodded and stood up, going into her room. She took out some spare clothes and new underwear along with a towel, giving them to Yeri.

“Wash up. They’re all new don’t worry,” Wendy said, showing Yeri the washroom in Joy’s room.

“Her clothes will be too big for you,” Wendy sheepishly added pointing at the asleep beast.

Yeri smiled and nodded, going to use the washroom. She now understood why Irene loved Wendy. Seriously, who could not? The blonde was an absolute saint.

When Wendy went outside, she prepared some breakfast for the rest too. As soon as she was done making, Irene came in the kitchen with her sleepy messy hair.

“Cute,” Wendy muttered, caressing her girlfriend’s hair.

“Hey! I heard that!,” Irene said in offense, glaring coldly at her girlfriend.

“Sit down,” Wendy commanded, pointing at the dining table.

By the time Wendy was done setting the table, everybody was up and awake. Suddenly the door bell rang and this time, Joy opened the door, revealing Seulgi in a black jacket, jeans, cap and sunglasses.

“Wow what happened to you?,” Yeri laughed at the bear who literally looked like a bear.

Seulgi who looked too stressed sat down on the dining table too, letting out a sigh. Wendy kept a plate and a glass of juice in front of the new girl and smiled warmly at her.

“Let’s talk after eating,” Irene suggested. She knew they needed the strength to talk and discuss what to do next.

After everybody was done eating and cleaning up, they finally sat in the living room, staring at each other.

“Do you want to hear the bad news first or the good news?,” Seulgi spoke up, looking at Yeri and Irene.

“Um.. good,” Yeri said.

“My parents don’t mind me not marrying you. When they heard what happened, they let it be. They don’t want to force us,” Seulgi said and smiled.

“That’s good,” Irene breathed deeply a few times.

“Bad?,” Yeri knitted her eyebrows, bracing herself for the next line.

“You two are wanted,” Seulgi stated, pointing at the two sisters.

“What?!,” Joy and Wendy shouted together.

“Yup,” Seulgi nodded up and down repeatedly, showing an article to everyone.

“Your dad’s men are everywhere looking for you. Fortunately, I paid your driver to stay quiet about this place. They won’t find you here at the moment but.. I don’t know for how long,” Seulgi said, rocking the chair impatiently.

“You guys need to go away. Each and every one of you. It’s just a matter of time Donghae gets to know about you two,” Seulgi pointed to Joy and Wendy.

“We need to go to another country,” Irene said, thinking hard.

“Canada,” Joy said.

Everybody turned to look at the tallest girl amongst them with confused faces.

“I have a house in Canada. Wendy unnie has lived there too. It’s perfect. We’ll get visas easily.. I have some family members there,” Joy said.

“I can arrange your travel,” Seulgi said.

“But our passports,” Irene said, looking at her sister.

“I’ll get them out of your house. I had paid some people there. I’m sure that won’t be a problem. We have to get you out of Korea,” Seulgi said.

“We can transfer to any college there,” Joy said, reassuring Yeri that their study is safe.

“I’m sorry for dragging you into this,” Irene said, feeling devastated to cause Joy so much trouble.

“Wendy unnie and Yeri are like my family. Don’t worry,” Joy said, lightly smacking Irene’s arm.

“What about money?,” Yeri asked, clearly bothered.

“I have enough to support us till Joohyun and I get our jobs,” Wendy said.

“In case you don’t.. you know who to call,” Seulgi said, winking at everyone.

Irene and Yeri relaxed after hearing this. It had come to this. The woman who was considered one of the richest in Korea, depending on a person who has no family and a part-time job. Love is funny in some ways isn’t it?

“Let’s do this then,” Seulgi said energetically in newfound determination.
