Donghae looked around the room before heaving out a heavy sigh. The rest of the students around him were either falling asleep or were as bored as he was. First day of school was always hard especially for him. He still had not quite adjusted to the change of his summer schedule and was dreaming about his bed at home. Soft, warm, big, and cuddly. The complete opposite of his hard and back-aching wooden chair. 

"Okay, kids listen up," Donghae and everyone else in the class looked at their teacher. "Today, we're going to be helping tour the incoming freshmen students around the school."

Naturally, of course, instead of happy cheers the class let out disappointed groans. The teacher just chuckled at their reaction before gathering his things together at the table and motioning for them to go outside. The class moved slowly out the door while the teacher kept ushering for them to move quicker.

"Seriously, you kids. You go a level up but you grow backwards. Come on! Act like your true sophomores."

Once again, another set of whiny groans erupted from everyone. The teacher just shook his head helplessly at them before locking the door of the classroom after them. Donghae was laughing at his classmates. There was nothing better than seeing other people be more miserable than him. Their teacher separated them into different groups and assigned each of one a small group of freshmen to take care of. Donghae didn't really bother with it too much and let his friends do most of the work. However, during their tour, he couldn't help but feel like someone's eyes were constantly on him.

Donghae shrugged it off and just followed the group.

It's normal. I'm with a dozen people. Of course there are eyes on me.

By the end of the tour, however, he noticed a certain freshman standing in a corner by himself. He stared at him for about 5 seconds before turning around and going back on laughing with his friends. While he was busy goofing around with his friends, he couldn't help but feel like someone was staring at him again. This time, it started to bother him to the point that he started to look around the hallway for the culprit. Unfortunately, there were too many students out to pinpoint whether or not there really was someone staring at him. 

"Okay, everyone," the teacher called all of their attention. "The tour's over, so follow me back to the classroom."

"Man, I hate this." Kyuhyun muttered.

Donghae stifled a his laugh and bumped shoulders with him. "Dude, relax. It's the first day."

Kyuhyun glared at him before giving him a weird look. "Why are you so happy? You're usually the first one to about coming back to school."

Donghae took no offense at what he said and just shrugged his shoulders. Kyuhyun just rolled his eyes at him before whining about school again. They had that one-sided conversation all the way back to the classroom. Donghae sighed to himself once he was back on his seat and far away from Kyuhyun.

"Okay, class, settle down." The noise slowly settled down as everyone turned their attention to their teacher. "See, that wasn't so bad now, was it?"

"It !" A random kid yelled from the back.

"Yeah!" Another student agreed. "Mr. Bae, why did we have to do it? Isn't that your job?"

"Well, Sehun, it's important that you get along with your peers. This is a good start for you guys to get to know one another."

"But it's lame." Kyuhyun said and the rest of the class agreed.

The class slowly started to get noisy once again. Donghae tried to make himself disappear by putting on his music and drowning out the rest of the noise away. Mr. Bae tapped his hand against his desk as he told the rest of the class to be quiet. Once they were quiet, he noticed Donghae bobbing his head up and down completely immersed in his own world. He walked towards him slowly while the rest of the class watched anxiously what he was about to do.

He stood right in front of Donghae's desk, the other still complete unaware that he has been caught, and cleared his throat. Obviously Donghae wasn't able to hear him so instead, he grabbed the earphones out of the latter's ears and grabbed his i-pod away from. Donghae was startled by the sudden action and was about to snap at the person who disturbed him until he saw exactly who it was.

"Mr. Lee, what do you think you're doing in my class?"

"Uhm," Donghae started nervously, "listening?"

"Uh-huh," Mr. Bae walked away from Donghae back in front of the class. Donghae just watched after him helplessly, his eyes on his i-pod that the other just took away. "Do I have to remind you guys of the rules everyday?"

"No, sir," the class answered.

"How about you, Mr. Lee. Do I have to remind you of it?"

"No," Donghae answered with his head down.

"Students, just because it's the first day of school, doesn't mean that you don't have to follow the rules. Once you walk inside that gate, you are required to abide by every rule this school have. Electronics shouldn't be used in class and shouldn't be seen at all in campus." He heaved out a heavy sigh before opening the drawer by his desk and putting in Donghae's music device in it. "You can pick up your i-pod after school."

Donghae felt bad and at the same time upset with his teacher. The class went on with them discussing rules and what is expected from them by the teachers. The second they heard the bell, they all breath out a sigh of relief, and rushed out the  room to lunch. Once Kyuhyun and Donghae were outside Kyuhyun looked at the room next to theirs. Donghae noticed and  tried to pull Kyuhyun away.

"Can't we wait for Minnie to come out?"

"No," Donghae flat out answered. "The cafeteria's going to be full by then."

"But-"

"Kyu, you can just meet up with him downstairs. I'm really hungry."

Kyuhyun peeked at the door and knew that they wouldn't be let out anytime soon. He let out a sigh and grudgingly followed after Donghae.

Just like Donghae said, the cafeteria was already filled with students pushing and pulling on each other. Once they were able to successfully get out of the line alive, Donghae and Kyuhyun joined their group at their usual table.

"Hey, hyung," Donghae greeted."Who's your homeroom teacher this year?"

Heechul let out an annoyed scoff before answering. "I got Ms. Jung. She's so freaking annoying."

"We had Ms. Rhee," Kangin said with his arms around Leeteuk. 

Donghae made a face at the action before just looking away. Messing with Kangin was one thing but if it involved his Leeteuk, then one would wish for a quicker death. They continued to play around together until Sungmin arrived with someone in tow. He was the first thing Donghae noticed upon arrival. He stared at him waiting for the other to make eye contact but it never happened.

"Hyukjae, meet my friends." Donghae heard Sungmin say. He listened intently as Sungmin introduced each one of them one by one and has never been more impatient at the fact that there were so many of them. He stared Hyukjae waiting for him to look his way but he was just paying attention to the people Sungmin was pointing to and wished he'd picked a different seat to sit at so he didn't have to wait so long. Donghae faintly recoggnized him as the student he saw leaning against against the wall by himself as though he was trying to merge with it.  It interested him immediately and the urge to be his friend overcame him. Then, due to some lucky chance, he saw Hyukjae smile and Donghae realized he needed to be friends with him. 

Donghae was quick to get in by that smile and was more than happy that they were all focused on Hyukjae right now because he was pretty sure that he probably sported a dumb look right now. He tried to wait patiently for Sungmin to get to him but it was taking forever that he decided to just introduce himself directly.

"...the one chomping away beside him is Shindong. He's the fun guy around here."

"Hey!" Donghae protested and inwardly cheered when he got Hyukjae's attention. "I'm the fun guy in the group. He's the funny one."

Donghae grinned then pouted when he saw Hyukjae look away from him, but then smiled again when Sungmin shifted his focus back to him.

 "This is Lee Donghae. He's...the 'fun' guy." Donghae would have kept on smiling proudly if he didn't hear Sungmin's next whispered words. "But he's mostly childish..." Donghae wasn't able to hear anymore of that and internally groaned because there's no way that whatever followed that was good.

After Sungmin introduced everyone in the group, Yesung introduced Ryeowook while Donghae did the same with Kibum. Donghae called Hyukjae to introduce his friend but frowned when the other wouldn't look at him. He shrugged it off as his first day jitters and told them about Kibum. However, Kibum wasn't able to stay with them long and went to sit with someone else. Donghae would have been upset about it but he knew his friend would be more comfortable with someone he was actually associated
