The next morning, Dahyun and Seulgi are already waiting at the front mansion outside Joohyun’s vehicle. After more than an hour of choosing what she has to wear, redone her make up twice or thrice and what kind of hairstyle she’s going to pull out, finally Joohyun arrived wearing a turtle neck sleeveless, high waist pants, pair or flats and with waved loose hair. Pulling out a small envelope from her purse, she handed it to Dahyun.

“Ms. Kim I am well impressed with your service since the beginning. Here’s a bonus to pay it of and just to clarify this is not a deduction to your monthly paycheck.” Joohyun smiled at her as soon as she took it. “And please take a day or two of day off.” Joohyun told her.

Dahyun bowed to thank her. As soon as she saw how much the money is inside the envelope she couldn’t help but to jump in joy. “Ms. Bae if you’re alright about it, I wished to have my day off today.” 

“Go ahead.” Joohyun smiled at her and walk to enter the vehicle.

Dahyun took off her earpiece and handed it to Seulgi who forces herself to smile after just witnessing how unfair Joohyun is. Takinh the earpiece of her colleague she went inside the car and looked at Joohyun.

“Ms. Bae you’re supposed to be sitting at the back. That is Ms. Kim’s seat.” Seulgi said as she despise to sit beside her Boss.

Joohyun just hated the fact that after she planted a kiss on her that kept her awake the whole night, she still wishes her to sit away from her. “Have you forgotten my car, my rules?” 

Seulgi just don’t want another argument not because Joohyun is being so competitive to defend herself but because she might kiss her again if she failed to keep her Boss mouth shut.

Busy on the steering wheel and eyes are on the road, Seulgi remained herself quiet. The kiss last night was still fresh on her head but she would choose to be quiet about it. While Joohyun has been so fidgety, she doesn’t know where she will place her hands, her feet is shaking, she have already checked herself on the mirror thrice and she couldn’t just stay still.

“Can you pull over?” Joohyun asked Seulgi.

Seulgi pulled over quickly but safely just like what her Boss wants. After the car stopped at the side of the highway, Joohyun immediately went off the car. Stomping her feet. Biting her lips, her hand and whining out of annoyance. 

Seulgi went out of the car too and just watch her throwing tantrums like a kid. She already know where she is coming from and all she can do is to stand there and wait for her to calm down but her silence and calmness frustrates Joohyun more until she came to the point that she couldn’t keep everything to herself anymore.

“Are you really like this?” Joohyun asked her as she walk towards her bodyguard. Breathing heavily out of frustration, her gazed are cold and her eyebrows are about to meet. “You keep on doing things that you shouldn’t do and you’re acting like…” she paused. “Like nothing happened.”

“Could you please get to the point?” Seulgi asked calmly.

She whines softly as if she badly wanted to scream. “My god Ms. Kang!” Joohyun firmly said. “You put a hickey on my neck and kiss me last night and you’re seemed to be okay about it”

“What shall I do? Do you want to talk about it?” Seulgi asked her again.

“What?” She asked in annoyance. “God damn it Ms. Kang does things shouldn’t be entertained! I just hate the fact that you kept yourself cool about it while I am dying of awkwardness and embarrassment around you.”

“Because the kiss is really nothing.” Seulgi claimed. “I placed a hickey on you to stop you from accusing my sister a I kissed you cause even if I asked nicely you wouldn’t let me in inside the lounge.” 

Joohyun was quite hurt to hear from Seulgi that everything was nothing. That wasn’t the answer she wanted to hear. So she made a deep exhale “Well from now on don’t forget that you’re my bodyguard and I am your Boss.” She said as she marched inside the vehicle and finally she took the seat at the back of the car.

They finally arrived at Wendy’s home. Joohyun made it clear to Seulgi to stay at the parking lot which she immediately obeyed without questioning her Boss. More than she wanted to prevent a fight between her and Joy, she suddenly feel the hate of her bodyguard and her former friend to meet. 

As soon as Solar opened the doors for Joohyun, Joy couldn’t help but to maintain a strong gaze at even when she took a seat at the dining table. Wendy snapped her fingers in front of Joy to alter her gaze. “Come on guys this is a bond time. If we cant force you to love each other just prevent yourselves from fighting.” She asked them.

Just like how they spend their time together, Joohyun and Joy managed to ignore each other but made it obvious how much they really hate each other. Eating with their friends, drinking some wine, playing games together are most of the things that they do and one of the game that any of them were half hearted to play is truth or dare.

Joy volunteered to spin the bottle once and it pointed to Joohyun and twice it pointed to Wendy. Meaning Joohyun has to pick between truth or dare or and the rest is up to Wendy.

“Truth.” Joohyun confidently said without hesitating. 

Wendy exchange smiles among their friends and cleared before she ask her question. “Knowing that you got married unexpectedly, for some reason have you regret that decision?” Wendy asked her.

“Oooh.” Solar teased. All of them know that Suho doesn’t deserve Joohyun at all. He’s not sweet and romantic nor even spare some time to bond with them. They knew them as a workaholic but they love Joohyun so much and the only thing they can do is to support her with her decision.

The question hit Joohyun really hard. It made her difficult to answer. First was when she got married she lost Lia, second was she’s holding herself with the things that she spends and most of all she set aside her charity works and third her bodyguard. When Seulgi popped out in her mind. “No.” She immediately said. “I think my life became more perfect when I got married.” She lied.

Now Joohyun answered the burning question from Wendy it means its her turn to spin the bottle and it pointed on Joy. She spin the bottle again and it pointed on Solar. “Dare.” She also confidently answered.

Solar made a wide smirk. “Alright since all of us are aware that you’re into girls before you got married, give a kiss to anyone you wanted to date in this room.” Solar said as she exchange laughs with Wendy. 

Joy made a sarcastic laugh with them. “I don’t want to date any of you.” Joy said. “But I would very please to the dare.” She added, fixing her sarcastic stare at Joohyun. “Call your bodyguard.” 

Joohyun intensely gazed at her. Folding her fingers into fist. The reason why she wanted Seulgi not to come with her was because she don’t want her and Joy to meet and now the evil witch in front of her just ask for Seulgi and she couldn’t help but to feel annoy.

“What?” Solar asked. 

“Omo Joy you’re into her bodyguard?” Wendy laughed at her as she smacks her arm.

Joy nods and smiled. “She has a hot and y female bodyguard that I badly want to pin on the bed.”

“Oh no.. that’s dangerous.” Wendy said between her giggles. “I don’t have a private room here. Just ask for the bodyguard and kiss her that’s it.”

“No.” Joohyun firmly disagrees.

“Since when did we accept NO as an answer to this game?” Solar asked. “Go beep your bodyguard.”

“Are we really going to be this nasty? This girl is already married.” Joohyun said.

“She’s not happily married like you. We all know her parents just forced her to do that. Let the girl enjoy her life.” Solar said and snatched Joohyun’s purse. Joohyun tried so hard to reach it but before she could plant her palm on it. Joy immediately grab it and pulling out her pen like walkie talkie to beep Seulgi. 

“18th floor room 1818” Joy softly said. 

Solar waited in front of the monitor for Seulgi to arrive and before she could even press the doorbell, she immediately open the door for Joohyun’s bodyguard. “Is Ms. Bae around?”

“Oh don’t worry she’s totally fine.” Solar said “come inside.” 

As soon as Seulgi saw Joy around. She stopped herself but Joy stood up from her seat and walk towards Seulgi with everyone’s surprise she pulled Seulgi for a kiss on her lips. It’s true that Joy could be daring sometimes but Solar and Wendy didn’t expect that she will target for a kiss on the lips. 

Joohyun was also shocked and for the first time, she suddenly feel as if she was stabbed on her heart. Her knees are weak and she can’t feel anything but jealousy. She took the wine glass half filled with wine and took her pouch. “You guys are nasty.” She throw the drink on Joy and it made her reflexively detached from Seulgi.

“Yah!” Joy yelled at her.

But Joohyun made a strong glare to Seulgi before she leave Wendy’s home. The bodyguard managed to follow Joohyun and luckily she was able to ride the elevator with her. None of them would speak, Seulgi feel like she owe Joohyun an explanation but Joohyun is really annoyed and deep inside angry. 

Joohyun didn’t leave the elevator when they reached the Ground floor, instead she went off at the parking lot at the basement and took the back seat quietly but she made sure to express her annoyance and disgust from what she just witness.

Joohyun still don’t want to go home, she doesn’t want to spend the whole day at her bedroom throwing out her frustration or else she’s going to leave her whole place very messy. “Is there anyway we could meet Yeji and Lia?” 

“Ah ne.” Seulgi said, finally her Boss speak. She took out her phone and found out that Lia and Yeji will be having lunch around the university. 

Seulgi and Joohyun finally reached the place where Yeji and Lia are. The took a table for 4 since they were informed that the two are coming.”

It wasn’t a fancy restaurant. In fact, they only serve tteokbuki, odeng and various kinds of noodles. It was Joohyun first time in that kind of restaurant but she didn’t mind at all. She has been bothered the whole night with Seulgi’s hickey and kiss and now she couldn’t just forget how Joy lips met the lips of her bodyguard.

Their table was filled with four plates of jajangmyeon, two plates of tteokbuki and some fried snacks and side dishes. Lia slurps her noodles ignoring her sister. She decided not to rudely greet her even if she hated to share a table with her since its pretty obvious that her older sister is not in the mood.

“Lia.” Joohyun coldly call her name as she plays her noodles with her chopstick. “What will you do if you witness Yeji kissing her ex girlfriend?” She asked without making an eye contact with anyone.

“Ne?” Lia asked her again while the three exchanges eye contact with her sudden question. “Why are you asking me that kind of stuff? Yeji wont do that.” 

“Just answer me.” Joohyun said.

“Well… first or all I am going to pull that girl’s hair and make her bald.” Lia said. “And as for Yeji she’s going to stay in my apartment and I am going to pay her lecturers to just come over.” 

“What? I am grounded?” Yeji and Lia exchange laughs while Seulgi forced herself to laugh at them. “But no matter the situation is, kissing an ex girlfriend is a no no. There’s no excuse for that.” She added.

“That’s right!” Joohyun said as she finally heard the words she’s longing for she was able to much some rice cakes and her noodles.

“Why are you suddenly asking about that? Did Suho oppa..” lia asked.

“No. He will never do that, Suho is out of the country to work and only work.” Joohyun said. “He won’t mess up in work going out for a beer nor kissing other girls. He’s not really going to that.”

Yeji nods with a smile. “Such an admiring person.” 

“Seulgi unnie, kwenchana?” Lia asked Seulgi as she could see that she’s no longer enjoying her food.

“Ne kwenchana.” Seulgi said. “The noodles are just quite bitter,” 

“Shall we ask for another order?” Lia asked. 

“No no… its fine I can take this.” Seulgi said and smiled at Lia as she force herself to eat the jajangmyeon. Joohyun’s attitude makes her loss her appetite in a way not to enjoy her food anymore.
 
After the two forced themselves to eat, Seulgi insisted to send the love birds in Lia’s apartment but Yeji declined since she’s bringing the big bike with her and Lia refused as she don’t want to share the same vehicle with her sister. 

Joohyun remained silent as they sent their younger sister off. She intentionally didn’t ride her vehicle as she wanted to have some few walks for her to unwind. More than her annoyance with Seulgi, she’s more annoyed to herself for feeling that way, even if she convinced herself a thousand of times and what she’s feeling was inappropriate she just can’t help but to feel jealous. 

Standing under the three to avoid the sun, she watches some kids playing at the park. Little did she know Seulgi was able to quickly ditch her to buy some popsicle and when her bodyguard found her she offered her the popsicle that she bought. “Peace offering.”

Joohyun rolled her eyes and refused to take the popsicle but Seulgi insisted “this will melt.” She said and so for her to stop insisting Joohyun took it from her. Unwrapped it and had some of it, seems like a cold dessert is fine after a meal.

“Will you please stop acting like that?” Seulgi asked her as they both watch the kids playing at the park. “It’s a little bit awkward.” 

Joohyun faced her and gazed at her. “See? That’s what exactly what I feel when you choose to avoid me after doing something nasty on me.” 

“Ms. Bae, what do you want from me? An apology?” Seulgi asked. “I already told younthat was,,”

“Nothing,,” she interrupted. “You don’t have to say it again.” She sighs. “And how would you refer Joy’s kiss? Amazing? Outstanding? Majestic. Tsh.” 

“Are you jealous?” Seulgi asked. “Cause you keep on making me feel like I owe you an explanation about that kiss.”

Joohyun’s heart just beat faster as if she was so nervous. She didn’t realize that she made it to obvious. “Of course not,” she denied rolling her eyes to Seulgi. “I am not jealous and yes you owe me an explanation.” 

“Ms. Bae, I didn’t ask for that kiss. I went up there because you beeped me.” She said “and the next thing I knew Joy planted a kiss on me and that’s it.” 

“Yea right. Can I ask you something? How could you easily get inside doors? From Lia’s apartment..”

“You left it open.” Seulgi immediately interrupt her so she wont suspect that she has advance skills.

“No I didn’t.” Joohyun assured her “and in the dressing room. I am pretty sure Joy locked us inside.” 

“No she didn’t.” Seulgi said. “Can we stop here? I don’t know where this door thing argument will lead us to but can we keep everything settled between us?”

“Us?”

“Boss-Bodyguard relationship.” Seulgi sighs “we cannot work together hating each other Ms. Bae.”  Finishing he popsicle she threw it in the trash bin and looked at Joohyun. 

Joohyun just ignored her and threw her finished popsicle as well. Slightly bumping her she walk back towards her vehicle. She’s confused and is having mixed emotions. If she were to choose she wanted to know her body guard more but she has to stop herself because she’s already married.

“I want go home.” Joohyun just asked as she closed her eyes sitting inside her vehicle. 

“Can we go somewhere else?” Seulgi asked her and she didn’t respond all she want to do is to rest but Seulgi take it as a yes. 

Driving an hour and a half, Joohyun fell asleep on their way to the place where Seulgi wanted to take her. Kicking of the breaks gently, she arrived at somewhere they called baby house bringing some sacks of sandwiches for the kids that she managed to buy while on their way there. 

After handing everything to the volunteer, Seulgi knocked on the window where Joohyun’s head is leaned and that made her interrupted her sleep. Opening her eyes slowly, she found her bodyguard smiling at her closely with just a window separating them. She shut her eyes and looked away convincing herself hundreds of times that she is not attractive at all.

Seulgi knocked as hard as she could and that pissed Joohyun off. She opened the door of her car intentionally hitting he bodyguard out of annoyance. “Where are we? I asked you to take me home.”

“Welcome to my hometown.” Seulgi said in return.

Joohyun looked around and realized it is a small house made of bricks with large backyard where playground and table set are placed. She found 10 kids playing tags at the backyard.. “Why are we here?”

“Just wanted to visit my parents.” Seulgi said. “I mean they’re not my real parents.”

“Seulgi come inside, the snacks are ready.” A woman called them.

Baby house is a home that Sunmi and Park Jinyoung built for children without parents. After learning that they couldnt have a baby, they decided to adopt a lot of kids that they can support. “Please take a seat and feel at home.” Sunmi said as she placed a hot chocolate in front of Joohyun.

“It smells good.” Joohyun said as she smell the natural cocoa that Sunmi melt to make it a drink. “Its Seulgi’s first time bringing someone here.” 

“Noona!!!” Jeno jumped on Seulgi’s lap and snatched her snack.

“I knew it! You’re just greeting me to get my snack.” Seulgi said as she pinched Jeno’s cheeks.

“Well you can have it back if you catch me.” Jeno said and he run away and since she hasn’t been visiting the baby home for a while, Seulgi got excited running after her foster siblings which are almost 20 years younger than her.

“The hot chocolate is delicious.” Joohyun compliments after she took a drink.

“I’ll send you some of it so you could enjoy it in your home.” Sunmin said. “By the way please call me Sunmi Omma. After failing to get pregnant I decided to adopt children that I can support and that includes Seulgi and her sister.”

Joohyun nods and somehow felt happy that Sunmi is being comfortable around her. “What about you what else can you tell me besides you’re my daughter’s Boss?”

“Ne, uhmmm please call me Joohyun, I am already married for a year.” She introduced herself and realized there’s nothing much to tell about her.

“So you got kids?”

“No.” Joohyun said as she smiled.

“Why?” 

“Well…” Joohyun tried so hard to think about it. Its not that she and Suho don’t want it but she realized as a married coulle they never talk about that stuff. She even forgot to realize that a family should consist of parents and children. “We’re still trying.” She lied.

Sunmi smiled at her and held her hand. “I’ve already raised a lot of children here in my little home. Sent them to school, to college, to their work until they got themselves a stable job.” Sunmi explained. “If you don’t see your husband as a good father, don’t force yourself for a child. Children needs good role model and that is supposed to be us their parents.” 

Joohyun realized, Sunmi was right. She never thought of Suho as a father. She never foresee the two of them having children but there’s one thing that Joohyun is sure of, she want a child but someone who’s deserving. While Sunmi is busy at the kitchen, Joohyun went out the backyard and found Seulgi playing nerf guns with the children.

“Everyone! Get inside now its about to rain!” Jinyiung from the second level of the house collecting the hanged clothes informed them.

“We will take a bath in the rain!” Seulgi said and the children rejoice jumping happily as they’re anticipating the rain. Mark even stick her tongue out to taste the small drops.

“Yah, Ms. Kang! The children might get sick.” Joohyun said as she approached them.

“Aah.. andwe will bath in the rain.” Jisung frowned and now he’s about to cry.

“No little boy. You could be sick and suffer from fever if you take a bath in the rain.” Joohyun explained to Jisung and she took every children’s hand and assist them to get inside the baby home abandoning her female bodyguard with her stupid idea. 

After Jaemin the last kid in line take off his shoes and finally gets inside the baby home, Joohyun diverted her attention to Seulgi who’s still standing at the backyard looking at her annoyingly. “Yah! Get in here. You’re gonna get sick.” She said.

And it really rain heavily. Wetting the backyard and luckily the children and Seulgi made it inside before it pours heavily. The male children stare at the window with Seulgi, while Joohyun is with the only female child in the baby house reading her some book.

“What a waste it would be really fun to take a bath in the rain.” Seulgi said.

“Will you please stop?” Joohyun asked annoyingly. “If you keep on saying that these children will think that taking a bath in the rain is alright when in fact, they could suffer from cough and colds and fever as well.”

“Excuse me? Don’t you know that children that are raised here has an advance immunity. We can even survive ebola virus without medicine.” Seulgi told her.

“I don’t like fever.” Chenle said. “I hate to take medicine.”

“That’s why we should stay indoors and just read this book.” Joohyun said and smiled at the innocent kid.

The children ditched Seulgi from staring at the window and just surrounded Joohyun as they listen to her to read, Sunmi arrived with glass of milk and a bottle of milk for the youngest since she knew the kids will be skipping dinner as they will fell asleep while hearing the story.

And as expected they all fell asleep including Seulgi, Joohyun helped Sunmi to fixed the mattress and pillows  on the floor so the children will be able to sleep comfortably. “We have a spare room upstairs. You can sleep there.” Sunmi offered.

“Ani kwenchana.” Joohyun said. “I’ll be sleeping here with the kids.” 

Its already after midnight, everyone is sleeping soundly until Hina, the youngest cry after getting hungry. It interrupted Joohyun’s sleep which made her worried. She checked on Hina and she seemed fine. She thought she was hurt. Seulgi gets up half asleep and still her eyes closed.

“Yah be careful.” Joohyun whispered thinking Seulgi might step on the sleeping angels but she didn’t. After minutes she came back with a bottle of milk and took Hina with her. She placed the bottle on Hina’s mouth and hum some lullaby and it made the youngest to stop from crying. Making the room quiet and silent again.

Joohyun couldn’t just help but to admire the half asleep bodyguard putting a baby to sleep. She smile widely watching her as she takes care of it. That wasn’t the picture she never had with her husband, maybe because Suho left a hardworking and goal oriented image to her more than a husband and a father she failed to realize what’s more she could ever have in her life.
