Arco, the World Inbetween
Description
Between this world and the next exists a special world. It's a dimension of life phantom in nature yet one very real. Access to it is granted only on certain occasions and the times of admission are brief windows lasting mere seconds. The stay in that world depends on how long the soul braves to stay there, because in all honesty, it is a terrifying country. It is Arco, the other world, the world of the inbetween.
Foreword
A cold gloomy world of sorrow and pain has left a boy, Baekhyun, to stand as a thin, bruised reed. He's at the point of breaking. However, on a chilly winter night, overwhelmed by a surge of emotions and driven by an unknown compulsion, he decides to attempt escape. This escape takes the form of a strange yarn he has written starring his friend Kai. Reality and fantasy soon become intertwined and he discovers that his life consists of more than just earth; he has, from the beginning, inhaled the breath of eternity.
......
Inspired by a ian gentleman (The Barsoom Series) and a giant with harshly carven features and an intelligent pair of eyes (A Voyage to Arcturus)
M-Rating and Trigger Warnings are only because of the mention of animal sacrifices, which is understandably a sensitive topic. Nothing graphic or explicit is mentioned regarding it, but is spoken of as simply occurring (on three separate occasions). It plays an integral part to the story.
Sensitive topics such as anxiety, and depression will play a part in the stories. Nothing too harsh, I believe.
This is my entry for Tigress' Mini Contest #3 which is open until September 10th. Please consider entering! She always hosts such lovely contests~

If you're still reading, I wrote another Story which I consider to be a sister to this one.
I sincerely want to thank exoexoexolellel for taking time out of her day during this busy season to review my story. One may have thoughts regarding their work but leaving the bubble usually proves fruitful. It did in this case and I have her to thank.
To my surprise, this dear story of mines received a high score. Her thorough critique gives me insight into what could be considered an enjoyable story, and at the end, that's what stories should be about- enjoyment. Please do check out her Review Shop as any and all critique regarding one's story is beneficial.
So, after putting it off for some months I decided to enter this story into a contest- Exo- An Escape Writing Contest - I had been eyeing out since the beginning of the year.
Please check it out and maybe you'll find and entry you like there :)
These are the quotes I have chosen:
Q-17
"Talking won't change it. But sometimes it was what she wanted most, to tell someone; often, though, she just wanted to escape those horrid feelings, to escape herself, so there was no pain, no fear, no ugliness."
- Melissa Marr, Ink Exchange
Q-19
"You're trying to escape from your difficulties, and there never is any escape from difficulties, never. They have to be faced and fought."
- Enid Blyton, Six Cousins At Mistletoe Farm
Q-32
Do not judge me for escaping the stresses and cruelty of the world differently than you do.
- Dan Pearce
And this the prompt (Scenario):
P: S- 5
You are trapped in a maze of your own doing, waiting endlessly for an escape- an escape in the form of the most magical wings in existence so you can fly up and above your troubles.
I won Second Place! So shocked, but here's my commemorative poster
I've been in a writing slump and thought entering this contest might encourage me to write again, so here's my third entry to:
Stepping Into Another World— The Writing Contest
Here's the prompt I chose:
Prompt: 15. “There are people in this world that enjoy being alone, but there isn't a single person that can bear solitude.” - Fairy Tail
