Into the unapologically cold eyes of Main Character™ Kim Seolhyun

"Don't wander off from here, we've been designated this area," Hani yelled.

No matter how hard the prefects strained their voices, it seemed like the students just weren't listening to them. That, or they were simply choosing to ignore it. Yuna had taken her eyes off the line of students loitering at the door for a couple of seconds and suddenly they were nowhere to be seen. Oddly enough, it reminded her of another certain misbehaving student she knew of.

A flash of light startled her as the winds picked up once again. With the rain torrenting against the castle's roof and walls, it was no wonder the students were unable to hear her. She glanced to her left where she saw Hoseok doing the same; trying to yell past the storm in order to prevent the students from walking away unsupervised.

Yuna took a breath in as she repeated herself once more. Her arms ached every time she ushered the students inward and was feeling dry. They just needed a few seconds of quiet so they could split them into smaller groups and lead them to the Great Hall. Hoseok's calm expression had long left him, and exhaustion was evident across his face. Deciding to change the tactic and take matters into her own hands, Yuna jumped down from her platform and made her way past the mass of people, splitting them to a side.

Walking them towards the door, Yuna motioned for the student at the front to open the gate. The group swarmed through and as soon as she had made her way past, Yuna closed the door shut, knowing Hoseok and Hani should be able to keep the other bunch of them under control.

With numbers down by more than half, the students were much easier to control. The sudden storm had not only shocked the prefect body but the entirety of the students as well. They needed to be split evenly enough into the areas of the castle, but at least 2 years’ worth of students had found themselves under the eyes of just 3 prefects.

The trip from the corridor to the hall wasn't long and soon the students filled in the relatively empty space. Yuna gave a knowing smile to Seohyun, the Ravenclaw head girl, who she just barely managed to catch sight of before leaving the hall. Hopefully, by now, the students back in the corridor wouldn't be so rowdy and have taken up a quieter activity to spend their break.

However, she wasn't prepared to bump into Peeves turning at the corner and she nearly fell to the ground in shock. Before she could even apologise to the poltergeist, Peeves had already rushed off past the corner. Confused, Yuna took a few seconds to recollect herself but not for long as the Bloody Baron had appeared behind.

"It's the Hufflepuff prefect."

Not knowing what to say at the acknowledgement Yuna nodded. She had rarely interacted with the Bloody Baron, but it had been enough for him to remember at least her existence. He turned away and made his way around the bend when he suddenly stopped and looked back.

"Peeves locked some girl in the bathrooms while I was chasing him. I do not care, but you might."

With these words, he disappeared from sight and left Yuna with a slight debacle at her hands. While she needed to ensure that her area had been managed, the Bloody Baron would not lie to her after a particular shared experience earlier this year. If there was someone locked in the bathroom, Merlin knows how likely it would be for someone to find them before classes were to start.

Her route altered, Yuna rushed to the bathrooms as quickly as possible. The howling winds silenced her footsteps and she soon reached the second-floor bathrooms. She knocked on the door, fists pounding against the hardwood.

"Is anyone in here?" she cried out.

No response. She tried again, but nothing was heard. Without waiting any longer, she pushed open the doors and quickly scanned the room. Still, taps, running fountains, near silence; the place looked void of any human presence. Hesitant, she walked further into the bathroom. It could have very well been a simple prank, but Yuna did not think the Bloody Baron was one to do such.

As she slowly stepped forward, her peripherals caught sight of movement by the fountain. She clutched her wand in her left hand in case of danger as she approached the source of the sound. Yuna heard a gasp shortly after, confirming her initial suspicions and confirming that there really was a student.

"Are you alright?" she asked from afar.

Yuna must have shocked whoever it was as they jumped from their seat by the edge of the fountain. They stood up and only then did they come into Yuna's field of vision. dried up.

"Chanmi?" she whispered.

In front of her, stood the 4th year Slytherin with tousled red hair, looking right back at her. Chanmi's face had lost its colour, looking terribly pale, and her eyes were no longer bright but droopy. She had her hand against the cold marble counter, arm shaking as she leaned her weight on it.

No matter the elation of hoping to see Chanmi coming true, Yuna's worry and concern for the girl's state outweighed whatever she had wanted to talk to her about. The grip on her wand loosed, the wooden stick resting in the pockets of her robes.

"Chanmi," She didn't know what to say. "What happened?"

She noticed the faint trails of tears that streamed from Chanmi's eyes as she walked closer, reflecting the lights that overhung the bathroom. They gleamed across her face, bringing life to her face for a few moments at a time before leaving to highlight her feeble state. Yuna pursed her lips.

"Yuna," she began, her lips shaking. "I feel sick."

Chanmi had struggled to push those words out and Yuna's concern grew.

"Why are you here?"

Yuna approached her as Chanmi remained unresponsive. Yuna's heart pounded in her chest with each step she took, as worry over Chanmi's wellbeing festered in her mind.

"I'm sorry." Chanmi brought the edge of her sleeve to wipe the remnants of her tears behind.

"For what?" Yuna asked softly. She stopped as her mind flew to interpret what Chanmi was saying.

However, as Chanmi tried to stand up again, her knees buckled and her legs caused her to fall. Hands gripping on the edge of the fountain, she barely held herself as she let out a cry of discomfort.

Yuna ran up to her, eyes darting frantically. She gulped and tried to hoist Chanmi up, taking her free arm and slowly standing her upright.

"Are you hurt? Did something happen?"

Chanmi shook her head, the movement so faint that Yuna had barely caught it. She moved her hand from Chanmi's shoulders down to her waists, steadying the girl up. Yuna was about to lead her back to sit by the fountain again, when Chanmi's body lurched forward, losing all strength as she passed out in front of her.

Yuna quickly tightened her hold on the girl, preventing her from falling right to the ground, but it had been a close call. Heart beating, she recomposed herself and pulled them both up. Unsure of what to do next, Yuna stood there for a while; staring mindlessly at the shiny white floor beneath her with Chanmi's arms around her shoulders. Her mind was frantic, yet no coherent thoughts were forming in the midst of her panic.

Breathing out a deep sigh, she first needed to get Chanmi to the hospital wing. She needed to move her there, that's what she should do first.

"Perfusorius," She muttered, and immediately felt the weight off her shoulders.

Cautiously she lifted the girl up into her arms, making sure her head was supported enough as her next course of action was to leave and find Madam Pomfrey on the 4th flour. It wouldn't be a strenuous task, seeing the feather-light charm had taken away all the physical difficulties of carrying a girl taller than her to another floor, but walking past students might make her seem a little off.

Still, she pushed open the bathroom door with one foot as she hastily made her way to the stairs of the unnecessarily large castle, really. Heart pounding, she let out her breath when she found a stable pulse. It was probably exhaustion, she hoped and decided it was best to just wait for Madam Pomfrey's diagnosis.

Yuna climbed up the stairs, thankful that they had chosen to remain still during the time. She could hear muffled chatters from down the hallways of each floor, with only a few exasperated shouts from the prefects manning over the area. She hoped that Hani and Hoseok weren't having a hard time.

With a final few steps, Yuna had reached the 4th floor. Panting, she hastened her pace as she made her way to the hospital wing. She knocked on the door with her free hand, balancing the rest of Chanmi's body against her raised leg. It didn't take too long for someone to open the door and Yuna was quickly ushered inside the dorm, Chanmi taken out of her hands before she could even realise.

"Now, what happened here?'' Madam Pomfrey asked as Chanmi was laid down on one of the ward's beds.

"I'm not sure," Yuna said. "She just passed out."

Madam Pomfrey nodded as she examined the girl's essentials.

"And where was this?" she continued, hand up against Chanmi's forehead.

"Second-floor bathroom."

After a few minutes, Madam Pomfrey stood up straight.

"The good news is that there seems to be no detrimental harm, but knowing this school, something might have caused this fainting spell. I'll get one of the elves to run some tests, it won't take long. This patient's name?"

"Kim Chanmi, 4th year-"

"Slytherin."

While Yuna had found herself in a slight daze before, she snapped her head at the sound of the unforgettable cold voice. Standing by the ward separator, leaning against the wall with her arms crossed, stood the 5th year Slytherin who had rudely eavesdropped and cut her off.

"Seolhyun! You should have left, isn't the Fifth floor busy as it is?"

Seolhyun's eyes fell fixated on the unconscious girl lying on the bed, taking no threat to Madam Pomfey's words.

"I couldn't help but to overhear while leaving," she said, not at all paying attention to Yuna.

"Still! You cannot just wander into other patients' wards. It violates their privacy," Madam Pomfrey said, her voice losing its initial firmness.

"Please, I've always been in here with her. If anyone would know about this, it should be me." For the first time, she lifted her gaze from Chanmi and her eyes landed on Yuna, who had been unable to speak the entire time. "Not anyone else."

Seolhyun's eyes flickered away back to Chanmi, as if she couldn't spare any further glance at her. Yuna gripped the edge of her robe, suppressing the rising frustration within her.

"This girl was the one who found her in the bathrooms and is why she is under my care. Either way, you two should both be going, seeing the storm is not letting up."

"No."

Yuna had been intimidated by Seolhyun's immediate response. There had been no hesitation in her voice. She hadn't needed to think; she prioritised Chanmi's health above anything, even her responsibilities. She had had a doubt but it was evident that Seolhyun truly cared for Chanmi, whether she herself knew it.

"Seolhyun, I normally don't enforce rules but I am asking you to leave. If anything happens to Chanmi here, you will be the first to be notified. Now please leave, I am sure the castle needs you more right now."

Yuna noticed Seolhyun's clenched fist despite her unchanging expressions.

"Very well, then."

"And you too, Yuna. Thank you for bringing her up, but I don't want a commotion with other students here. You have matters to attend to, no?"

Yuna nodded. "As long as I'm notified as well."

She could feel Seolhyun's piercing gaze on her without even needing to turn to face her.

"If that's what will get you two out."

With that, Madam Pomfrey pushed the ward separators and disappeared to tend to another patient, leaving Yuna, Seolhyun and an unconscious Chanmi. Yuna was prepared to leave as she had promised when Seolhyun had started to walk towards Chanmi, ignoring her deal with Madam Pomfrey. Yuna stopped, unable to move.

She watched as Seolhyun hovered above the girl, her hand coming up to rest on Chanmi's stomach. Seolhyun ran her hands upwards before moving them above Chanmi's own which was lying by her sides. Seolhyun sat down in the chair beside the bed and Yuna stood still watching the two in front of her.

"What do you want with her?"

Seolhyun's attitude towards Yuna heavily contrasted the tenderness in which she held Chanmi's hand. Her tone cut sharp but her gaze that raised softly on Chanmi made Yuna's mind turn and flip in conflict. It seemed that Seolhyun hated her guts, for absolutely no reason other than she knew Chanmi, yet the concern she held for her, Yuna hadn't seen that love for someone more ingrained.

"I care for her."

Expecting a cold reply to her answer, Yuna was surprised to hear silence rather than some snarky comment. Still, she wasn't sure as to what to do. She stood in the same spot unmoving. Seolhyun held the tips of Chanmi's fingers in her hands.

"You don't even know her."

"Do you?"

Seolhyun's eyes changed as soon as they left Chanmi. Yuna wasn't sure if the contrast was because of her love for Chanmi or her hatred for Yuna, but she was guessing it was more of the latter considering what had just left .

"Of course. I know her better than myself. Are you challenging me?"

"No, but you don't deserve to be here."

"What?"

Yuna could hear the agitation in Seolhyun's voice. Obviously not used to being questioned, and Yuna could say the same about herself, not used to questioning, Seolhyun's seamless expression broke for a second, but she didn't respond. It was odd, to listen to the girl who had so fervently denied her care and concern for Chanmi just a few days ago to look as worked up as Seolhyun did over Yuna's words.

"You know I'm right," Yuna continued, testing the limits. "Why are you here?"

Seolhyun did not respond to her and Yuna noticed the twitch of fingers that distanced her touch from Chanmi.

"She needs me." She spat from gritted teeth, clearly holding herself back.

"No, you need her."

Yuna felt as if she were walking on a tightrope. Every word she tossed out threw both her and Seolhyun off-balance, wavering the two between a series of thoughts and feelings.

"Maybe she does need you, but I think you need her as well."

She bravely took a few steps forward and Seolhyun snapped right back at her.

"Get out of our business."

Yuna flinched, her feet stuck. It had been one of the first times Seolhyun had been outright hostile to her, rather than just imposed or vague sayings. The Slytherin managed to strike fear into her, but Yuna couldn't back down, not now when she had the opportunity to help Seolhyun who had just misunderstood herself. She had to help fix a turmoil between others that she believed she partially had caused.

"No. It's no longer just your business anymore."

"Since when, pray tell me, and how did it become yours?"

"Seolhyun, why are you here?"

"What are you saying?" She had almost hissed out.

"Answer me. Why are yo
