Drunk

Unusual Roommates

Jungeun had always been one to go to parties and Jinsoul knew that. It wasn't because Jungeun particularly liked partying but rather because she was quite popular on campus, to the point where she felt the need to demonstrate her position.

But the last 2 weeks Jungeun had been going out even more than usual, which Jinsoul thought was odd, considering exams were coming up and Jungeun usually took studying serious.

Well, Jinsoul thought Jungeun had been acting weird these past weeks in general. She was more distant and even avoided their movie nights.

And Jinsoul really treasured their movie nights.

When Jinsoul talked to Sooyoung about her roommates behaviour, she waved it off, telling the girl it was probably just Jungeun worrying because of the failed "date".

Jinsoul had to admit it made sense. She hadn't really thought about it, since this wasn't the first time she had been in such a situation and it wasn't like she never ate lunch with Jungeun before.

But maybe it was different for Jungeun. Maybe she thought it was awkward or was embarrassed by it. Jinsoul wouldn't be surprised, since she noticed that the younger one tended to overthink quite a lot.

They hadn't talked about whatever happened that day yet and Jinsoul thought that maybe, she should talk to Jungeun about it to ease the tension. Because the longer Jungeun avoided her the more nervous Jinsoul grew, unnecessarily stressing about why the other didn't want to spend time with her anymore.

Jungeun really kept their interactions to a minimum and Jinsoul felt increasingly bad, every try to initiate casual conversation being rejected, despite Jungeun telling her she wasn't mad at her.

------------------------

It was around 2am when Jinsoul heard a knock on the door, making the poor girl jump in her seat.

Who on earth would knock on her door at 2am??

She debated whether to go grab a knife in the kitchen, to make sure she could defend herself if there was a robber at the door or something but then decided against it. She really needed to stop watching horror movies and crime documentaries, they really made her paranoid.

Maybe it was just Jungeun, who lost her keys and couldn't get in (or was just too drunk to open the door). The girl had gone out to party again after all. When she returned she was actually quite sober most of the time, which did impress Jinsoul a little, considering she'd sometimes be out for seven hours straight.

When Jinsoul opened the door she came face to face with a heavily panting Jiwoo, who was carrying a very knocked out Jungeun on her back.

"Oh, wow."

"Oh wow indeed. Now, uh.. could you like, help?"

"Uh.. yea,"Jinsoul muttered and Jiwoo carefully let Jungeun down.

"aAAaa jiNsOul HIIII!!" Jungeun slurred and Jinsoul quickly stood by her side to steady her.

"Shshhshs you're being too loud."

"ooo.. sowwy.. heyy soulll.." Jungeun was now more or less quietly giggling to herself and Jinsoul seriously wondered where they've been.

"What the hell did you put in her drink? She's never been so drunk."

Jiwoo opened to answer but was immediately interrupted.

"shshshs.. dOn'T tElL hEr jiwOo, it's... secret."

Jinsoul couldn't help but laugh a little when Jungeun reached to put her hand over Jiwoo's mouth.

The latter moved away, shaking her head.

"Well, she drank away her feelings."

Jinsouls smile fell.

"What feelings?"

"I dont think I'm in the position to tell you Jinsoul, you should ask her when she's sobered up. It's been bothering her for awhile I guess."

Jungeun basically clung to Jinsoul now, her arms wrapped around the older girls neck. Jinsoul couldn't really suppress the warm feeling blooming in her chest.

"I see. Thanks for escorting her back.".

Jiwoo gave her signature smile.

"Its part of my job as her best friend! I'm honestly just glad you're still awake, that way I know she'll be fine! And I didn't have to search for her keys.."

They shared a small laugh.

"Sure thing, I still had to finish a project."

Jiwoo and Jinsoul bid eachother goodbyes, not without Jiwoo giving Jungeun a light pat on the head telling her to sleep well and then Jinsoul and Jungeun were left alone in their dorm room.

"Geez Jungeun, you're lucky you don't have classes tomorrow, you'll be completely dead."

It didn't take long for Jinsoul to figure out that talking to drunk Jungeun was like talking to a wall. The girl barely responded and instead straight up face planted onto the couch.

Jinsoul was pretty sure Jungeun already lost most of her consciousness, however it didn't feel right to just leave the latter on the couch. Jinsoul sat next to her, patting Jungeun on the shoulder.

"C'mon let's get you into bed. Sleeping on the couch isn't fun, trust me."

Jungeun certainly didn't react in the way Jinsoul expected, as the younger turned to face Jinsoul and then proceeded to wrap her arms around the olders waist.

"..What are you doing..?"

Jinsouls face turned into every shade of red when Jungeuns face came closer and closer, just stopping inches before her own.

"U.. confuse mehh." Jungeun muttered, slurring so badly, Jinsoul almost didn't understand her. Almost.

Jungeun wasn't the only one confused, Jinsoul was too now.

She confused Jungeun? What did that mean? Was that a bad thing?

Jungeun probably wasn't the only one who liked to overthink things.

Jinsoul couldn't help but get distracted by Jungeuns pretty features, she couldn't believe it was possible for the other girl to look even more beautiful than she already did. But here she was, her face right in front of Jinsouls and it was then and there the older girl decided Jungeun looked the best up close, where Jinsoul could appreciate and worship every little feature of the other.

While Jinsouls jaw dropped and brain shut down, Jungeun suddenly slumped down onto her lap, her breath slowing down.

When Jinsoul finally pulled herself together and actually managed to get out of the trance she was in, she looked down and saw that Jungeun had fallen asleep in her lap.

Great. Out of all places.

And because Jinsoul was whipped and a big sweetheart she didn't dare to move and eventually fell asleep herself.

She woke up a bit later to a sore neck and her back hurting.

But seeing Jungeuns peaceful sleeping face was worth it.

---------------------------

Jungeun awoke around noon, with the worst headache she had in a long while and that wasn't a good sign.

At least she was in her own bed, alone, which gave her hope that she hadn't messed up too bad.

(Mind you she's only laying in her bed because Jinsoul had carried her over at some point after debating good 20 minutes if she should do it)

When Jungeun sat up and looked around, she saw a glass of water, some pills and a note on her nightstand.

Uh oh.

Jungeun hesitantly picked up the little note, reading it carefully.

Hi Jungeun,

I figured you'd wake up a little late, when I'm already off to my classes, so I left you some pain killers, I'm guessing you'll need them haha. Maybe text me if you wake up or need something, I'll be back around 4! Let's talk later, ok?

-Jinsoul :D

Jungeun really hoped she hadn't said or done anything weird in Jinsouls presence. To say she couldn't remember a thing was probably an understatement.

She really didn't want things to grow even more awkward. She was aware her and Jinsoul grew apart, since she had been distant lately.

It's because she was confused. Because she couldn't accept it.

And then there was this soft, fluffy feeling again that clouded her thoughts, because Jinsoul was so caring, because she left pain killers and a cute note, because Jinsoul was so perfect in every way and Jungeun just couldn't help but adore her.

Jungeun chucked down the pain killers, making the decision to finally approach Jinsoul.

There was no point in running away, they were literally roommates and if Jungeun didn't want to drown in her new caught feelings and the lingering awkwardness between the two of them, she needed to talk to Jinsoul. To apologize and thank her and just to talk.

Like Jiwoo would say,

"You need to stop being a useless, dramatic lesbian."
