The second hand on the clock ticked by slowly but time seemed to pass a lot faster today. Daiki and Amu sat next to each other on the couch under a warm blanket, simply enjoying each other's company.
The subtle sound of the television echoed throughout the room but the couple didn't pay any attention to it. Instead, they used the limited time they had left to catch up on each other's past days.
Ryosuke and Rio returned to the hotel room roughly two hours after they left. On their way back, they made sure to pick up some sweets from a nearby bakery- something that all four of them could indulge in before their big event later.
"We call dibs on all the strawberry ones!" Rio chimed, taking out the desserts from the large boxes in her hands. She placed all of them neatly in the middle of the dining room table while making sure that her favorite ones were easily accessible to her.
You see, Rio may be the most caring friend you could have but if you were to put anything with strawberries in front of her, she wouldn't think twice about planning your funeral- even Ryosuke's.
"I don't mind at all." Amu beamed, reaching for the one matcha cake she laid her eyes on. "Thank you!"
Meanwhile, Daiki reached for a rainbowed colored cake. He picked away from the other flavors with his fork, leaving just a small piece of the vanilla portion to eat.
"Dai-chan, you do realize that there's a vanilla slice right there..." Ryosuke said slowly, pointing at the light-colored cake right in front of him.
"But it has a piece of chocolate on top of it."
Ryosuke reached over, pulled the chocolate piece off the vanilla cake, and handed it to the latter "Vanilla Cake." He repeated while staring at his best friend with a dumbfounded expression.
"Are you sure it's vanilla, not chocolate?" Daiki asked, hesitating to take the plate. "It did have a piece of chocolate on it."
"Dude, have you ever seen a cream-colored chocolate cake?" The younger latter asked.
"Anyways!" Amu interrupted, knowing very well that this would've been only the beginning of their quarrels. "How did the research go?" Amu asked Rio who also seemed to be paying more attention to her dessert than what was happening around her.
"It went well!" Rio replied confidently, not daring to look up from her dessert." We confirmed that the note was written by Mariya and Rei" She added, nonchalantly before continuing to take another bite of her strawberry cake. "The fingerprints matches exactly the one the government has on file." She continued adding on, stopping in intervals to take bites.
"You don't want to go messing with this girl," Ryosuke began. Wondering what her boyfriend was talking about, Rio glanced up and that was when he took a huge bite of her cake after finishing his. "Not only does she save lives but she has the ability to put one away behind bars too."
"Hey uhh, Ryo... Out of all of us, you're the one who Rio is most likely going to put in prison." Daiki began, his gaze shifting between Rio and his best friend.
Ryosuke raised an eyebrow and slowly glanced over to his left where Rio sat next to him. Immediately, his eyebrows dropped as soon as he saw her glaring at him.
"I WAS TRYING TO SAVE IT FOR LATER," Rio exclaimed, a horrid expression planted on her face.
Without hesitating, Ryosuke placed his hand on Rio's nape and pulled her closer to him, his lips pressing against hers.
The whipped cream that he left on his lips slowly transferred over to her's and Rio felt her cheeks heat up, turning a shade of crimson red all at the same time. She was surprised by Ryosuke's sudden display of affection- especially in front of their best friends.
Meanwhile, Daiki and Amu quickly turned away- both of them exchanging widened glances at each other.
This wasn't the first time they witnessed YamaRio's public display of affection. In fact, they had walked in on them a few times before by accident. However, regardless of how many times they have seen this scene before, Daiki and Amu always acted as if they were back in high school and were just told that their friends had just started dating.
"Mou- get a room, you too!" Daiki pouted as Amu began to rub her eyes, hoping that the scene she just witnessed would disappear from her memories.
After what seemed to be a lifetime to the AmuDai couple, Ryosuke finally pulled away from Rio. "Didn't want the entire piece to myself." He smirked, satisfied with the reaction he received from her.
"You're lucky you're you," Rio uttered, reaching out to take a sip of water from her glass. "And Amu-chan is lucky to have someone who doesn't give their girlfriend a heart attack every day."
"Who knows." Ryosuke grinned, nudging his best friend. "Maybe Amu secretly wants some excitement from Daiki."
"Eh?" Daiki uttered, raising an eyebrow. "Why would I want to scare her? I'm not a doctor or anything- I wouldn't know what to do if Amu-chan gets a heart attack." He asked in confusion as the other couple exchanged astonished glances.
On the other hand, Amu quickly caught onto Ryosuke's message and she smiled, remembering how it was these cute moments that made her fall in love with her boyfriend in the beginning.
As soon as Daiki met her gaze, she placed her hand on his shoulder and leaned in, planting a kiss on his lips, shocking not only the boy himself but also Rio and Ryosuke who were now frantically trying to catch a quick picture with their phones of this rare moment.
The stunned couple was just about satisfied with the pictures they managed to took when Daiki decided to pull on Amu's arm, causing her to fall towards him- and this gave him the perfect opportunity to kiss her back while holding her in his arms.
"Damn, I should've shot a video instead," Ryosuke mumbled.
"Already on it." Rio winked. "If I was a movie director, I would definitely tell my crew to start working on a trailer for this movie."

The four spent the rest of the afternoon doing what they do best: making fun of each other, re-telling old stories of their high school days, and the classic attempts at cooking- only having Rio and Daiki fail miserably before leaving the rest to Ryosuke and Amu.
