A voice woke me up as I was sleeping A tangled melody Caramel waterfall Secretly, the two of us met   "Calling all the passengers to get ready setting off by the plane. Please grab your things and do not leave anything unattended. Thank you very much."   The flight attendant tapped my shoulder to wake me up after that short and quick trip. As soon as I opened my eyes, I saw the vast field of the plane's parking area, characters are all written in Kanji and Katakana, not with Hangul.   Finally, home.   "Ms. Myoui, the service car would be here at any moment. Please wait a little."   Myoui Mina, the classic novel enthusiast, has been through the university life. College has been a very nice journey; a quick one to be precise.   "It's Ms. Myoui! OMG we should get an autograph!" voices began crowding from not far away. Four girls, each holding a book I've written turned their pages to the preface and politely asked me to sign it.    I pulled out my customized penguin-designed pen and took note of each of the books they are holding.   Wild Photograph, Confession, Chemistry Class, and New Recipe. They thanked me for signing their books and I thanked them for appreciating my works. It warms my heart to see them sharing the world I created with some pieces of papers. I guess putting my walls down isn't a bad idea afterall.   Ha these clouds in the sky  Everybody look at me, up above the clouds  It's ok even if I fall while running  I love everything about going to see you   The service car arrived and the driver helped me with my suitcase. As I look through the windows, I smiled with the changes in Tokyo overtime. My hometown would be another hour ride from here so I would have to check in to some hotel first.   I recalled my college days like it has only been yesterday.    "Mina, Mina, Mina!" Holy mackerel is this really my professor? Why would someone dare call their students at 2AM?    I hesitated clicking the green button but it might be really important if he calls by this hour.    "Hai?"    "Ohhh, you responded with Japanese. Are you in a family gathering or something?" My eyes widen while looking at my manga in guilt.     "I-I was talking with mom a bit earlier. Hehe." There you go with the awkward laugh.    He cleared his throat and finally went straight to the point. "Myoui-san, your work, Love and Pastries..." I chuckled as I heard his Japanese causing him to stop for a moment, regain his composure and finally got to his main purpose.    "YOUR WORK IS CHOSEN BY CHANGBI TO BE PUBLISHED AS AN OFFICIAL BOOK UNDER THEIR NAME! AHHHH I'M SO HAPPY FOR YOU, CONGRATULATIONS MY CHILD!"    I had to put my earphones off. How could be a man like him be so loud? And why would anyone call at this deadly hours just to say that their finals term project is chosen by Changbi Publi-   "CHANGBI PUBLISHERS? YOU MEAN THE PUBLISHER OF 'THE VEGETARIAN'?" I have never shouted that loud in my whole life. Three knocks on my room's door and Sana's worried voice interrupted. "Minari, is everything alright?" I covered the mic of my phone for a moment to reassure the Japanese outside my room. "Yes Satang, sorry for that. I just dropped something."    "So Mr. Park, as you were saying..."    "Bingo, Ms. Myoui! l'll see you in the faculty room tomorrow for further details. Save your excitement for now and have a good sleep.   " I covered my mouth with my hand trying my best not to squeal. can't contain all my excitement and all my sleepiness paved away by the news.    "And I know you're reading some Japanese novel. Sleep, kid."    My Japanese manga looked back at me with a look that says, "Am I a novel now, Myoui? Really?"    "Uhh, yes sir. I'll quit reading my Japanese 'novel for now. Have a good sleep as well!" He dropped the call.    "AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"    That's my second scream(squeal) for the day.   "That's it Myoui, what on Earth is happeni-" | rushed to the door and hugged Sana. She pulled back to look at my face filled with tears.    "What's wrong, sweetie? Are you alright?" I nodded like a kid who just received his most awaited Christmas gift. "Very fine, Satang. More than fine if thať's even possible." She raised an eyebrow still oblivious to what is happening to me.   "Love and Pastries. Changbi Publishers choose to make it an official novel." From narrowed eyes of suspicion earlier, her eyes opened wider than how a normal Asian could. opened as well, she's as surprised as I am.    "Changbi, you mean-" Another nod.    "OH MY MITANG! I'M REALLY REALLY REALLYYYYY HAPPY FOR YOU!"   We are having a celebratory squeal when we're suddenly distracted by the creak of a room's door not so far away.    "What the hell is going on? You girls are so loud." Sana and I made an eye contact and shared some giggles. Nope, I don't plan on retelling the whole tea again. Time to sleep.   I arrived at the hotel, finally. The hoteliers were as hospitable as usual. That one opportunity changed me for the rest of my life. When I graduated, I had several journalism teams inviting me for quite a fortune just to get my stories featured in their publishing firms. I mostly rejected them. I have to stay loyal with the company that I owe a lot even if greater opportunities come in my way.   Ding dong.   A hotel staff came to intrude my peaceful night. “Ma’am, someone asked us to deliver this to you.”   Flowers? Oh, there’s a note. ‘See you at breakfast, Ms. Myoui. Lobby, hotel’s buffet room.
