Chapter II

Two Lips From Amsterdam

📍Amsterdam, Netherlands 🇳🇱

For the next following days, Jisoo continues to repeatedly check her phone, anticipating a call from a certain someone.

It was rolling into the fourth day, when she had finally given up.

Besides the stormy clouds hovering in the sky, it was a morning like any other when she made her way into Chaeyoung's store. What she didn't expect was to see the mystery girl sitting at her usual spot.

Jisoo smiles brightly at the sight as she slowly approaches the latter.

Jisoo: I'm pretty sure I had told you to call me.

Jennie shrugged her shoulders as Jisoo takes a seat in front of her.

Jennie: I didn't want you to get my number.

Jisoo scoffs, a smirk appearing on her face.

Jisoo: Yah, you're acting as if I'm some sort of stalker.

Jennie takes a sip of her coffee.

Jennie: I'm just not in the place for a relationship right now.

Jisoo raises her eyebrow questioningly.

Jisoo: Why not?

Jennie sets her jaw as she tries to figure Jisoo out.

Jennie: I believe that I'm not obligated to tell you my reasons.

Jisoo breaks into soft chortle as she shakes her head.

Jisoo: You're a tough one. I like it.

Jisoo gives the latter a wink, causing her to blink in disbelief.

Jennie: I already told you—

Jisoo: I heard what you said. But I can still try right?

Jennie crosses her arms as she leans back in her chair.

Jennie: Your charms won't work on me.

Jisoo leans forward with a teasing smirk and shrugged her shoulders.

Jisoo: It doesn't hurt to try right? I'm pretty irresistible.

Jennie scoffs and shifted in her seat uncomfortably as she felt her heart skip a beat.

Jennie: Can we please move on to what I came here to talk about?

Jisoo smiles knowingly as she points towards the book that rested by Jennie's side.

Jisoo: You liked the book right? Ahh~ I knew you would like it. It's a beautiful story after all.

Jennie nodded enthusiastically.

Jennie: I loved it actually. I was sad to find out that the author had died in the end. I couldn't stop crying.

Jisoo nodded in agreement.

Jisoo: It was beautiful yet tragic at the same time.

Jennie: What happened to his wife and his daughter though? That was the only thing on my mind ever since I had finished the book.

Jisoo leans back in her chair and gives Jennie smile.

Jisoo: I'll tell you everything you need to know. But first... you have to tell me what your name is. It's kind of unfair that you know mine but I don't know yours.

Jennie seems to ponder on the thought for a bit before deciding to tell Jisoo her name.

Jennie: Jennie. Jennie Kim.

Jisoo's lips form into her infamous heart shaped smile, in which Jennie couldn't help but find herself feeling attracted towards the older girl.

Jisoo: Wah, would you look at that. We really are meant to be. Kim Jisoo and Kim Jennie. I guess now when we get married, there won't be any fight about who should change their surname.

Jennie shot Jisoo a deathly glare, causing the older girl's teasing smirk to disappear.

Jisoo raises her hands up defensively as she gives Jennie an innocent look.

Jisoo: I was only joking... Unless you do want to get married, then I'm fine with that too.

Before Jennie could say a word, Jisoo raises her hands up once more.

Jisoo: Pppong! I'm joking.

Jennie eyes Jisoo once more, before concluding what she thought about her.

Jennie: You're a flirt. I don't like that.

Jisoo shrugs her shoulders nonchalantly.

Jisoo: Tsk, tsk. Have you ever heard of the saying, "Don't judge a book by its cover?"

Jennie her head to the side questioningly.

Jennie: But am I wrong?

Jisoo shook her head.

Jisoo: You aren't. But there are many other things that you still don't know about me Jennie Kim.

Jennie pursed her lips and nodded.

Jennie: You're also weird.

Jisoo crosses her arms as she leans forward.

Jisoo: What else?

Seeing that Jennie remained silent, Jisoo releases a soft laugh. Slightly irritated, Jennie crosses her arms and furrowed her eyebrows.

Jennie: So what is it that I still don't know about you?

Jisoo smirked and shot a wink that the younger girl.

Jisoo: That's for me to know, and for you to find out.

Jennie scoffs, annoyed by Jisoo's answer. She leans back against her seat and picks up the book.

Jennie: The book.

Jisoo laughs again and nodded in compliance.

Jisoo: Alright, so you probably already know that Paul's book was dedicated to his daughter.  As for his wi—

Before Jisoo could finish talking, Jennie's phone had started ringing.

The latter gives her an apologizing look before answering her phone.

Jennie: Hello?

The loud voice of Jennie's best friend rang through the phone, causing Jennie to hold her phone a bit further away.

Lisa: JENNIE UNNIE!

Jennie: Yah Lalisa! Are you trying to break my eardrums?

The younger chuckles softly from the other line.

Lisa: Sorry unnie. I guess I got a little too excited.

Jennie smiles knowingly.

Jennie: What is it this time?

Lisa: I'm taking you to meet my girlfriend today!

Jennie's eyes widened, causing Jisoo to raise her eyebrow questioningly.

Jennie: It's about time! Yah, I thought you were never gonna introduce me to her.

Lisa releases a laugh.

Lisa: I know, and I'm sorry.

Jennie: What time should I be ready by?

There was a short pause before the younger replied.

Lisa: Around 6:30 to 7:00 should be fine.

Jennie: Okay then. Sounds good.

Lisa: Oh and by the way, Chaeyoung is also bringing along her best friend. So maybe there's a chance for--

Jennie releases a sigh and rolled her eyes.

Jennie: That is not gonna happen. You know I'm not ready for that Lili. Besides, I haven't even met your girlfriend yet, it would be weird for me to hook up with her best friend after the first meeting.

Jisoo glances at Jennie again, an amused smile on her face. She leans back in her chair as she pretends to look elsewhere.

Lisa: I get it unnie. Anyways, I'll see you tonight.

Jennie: Hmm. See you.

Jennie hangs up her phone call and glances up to be met with Jisoo's amused smirk. Her face suddenly reddens upon realizing that the latter had probably heard her conversation with Lisa.

Jennie: It's... it's not what you think. My friend suggested it to me. L-like I told you, I have no intentions of getting into a relationship.

After few short seconds, Jisoo breaks into a fit of laughter as she looks at Jennie's flustered face.

Jisoo: Yah, I never said anything. You didn't have to act so defensive.

Jennie mumbles to herself in embarrassment as Jisoo continues to laugh at her. She clears and takes a sip from her coffee.

After awhile, Jisoo had finally calmed down and relaxes back into her seat.

Jisoo: So, shall we continue with our conversation?

Jennie nodded immediately, desperate to escape from her embarrassment.

Jisoo: As I was saying, in order to understand the remaining story, there is another book that you have to read first.

Jennie's eyes widened in curiosity.

Jennie: There's a sequel?!

Jisoo chuckles bit and shook her head.

Jisoo: No.

Jennie pouted.

Jennie: I don't understand.

Jisoo smiles and gives Jennie a wink.

Jisoo: You'll find out soon enough. Give me a sec.

Jisoo rises from her seat and stalks over towards the library. After few short minutes, she returns with a book in her hand. The older girl hands Jennie the book before taking a seat.

Jennie glances at Jisoo before looking down at the book.

"The Bright Hour" Written by: Nina Riggs

Jisoo: This was another author who wrote about her fight against cancer. After you finish reading this one, the rest of the story will be even more beautiful.

Jennie continues to look at the book before eyeing Jisoo suspiciously.

After a few quick seconds, she agreed to the latter's suggestion and nodded her head.

Jennie: Then I will read it.

Jisoo smiles brightly, showing her heart shaped lips.

Jennie clears as a distraction as she felt the heat rise up in her cheeks. Going red in this moment would only make Jisoo even more.

She flickers her eyes around the room in order to avoid eye contact with the older girl, but instead it had resulted in her looking more awkward than she already did.

Jisoo releases a soft laugh, causing Jennie to shift her attention back towards her.

Jennie: What's so funny?

Jisoo shook her head.

Jisoo: Nothing. You just look really cute when you're nervous.

Jisoo's words sent Jennie's brain into a chaotic mess, causing her to fumble at her words.

Jennie: I-I wasn't n-nervous.

Jisoo smiles as she nodded unconvincingly.

Jisoo: Uh huh. Sure you weren't.

Jennie's cheeks reddened, causing Jisoo to release an another series of giggles.

After a few moments, she had sensed the uncomfortableness coming off from the younger girl and decided to stop.

Clearing , Jisoo folded her hands neatly across her lap as her expression morphs back into a serious one.

Jisoo: Anyways, about the story. I doubt you will believe me once I tell you everything.

Jennie: How come?

Jisoo shrugs as she cocked her head slightly to the side.

Jisoo: It's pretty unbelievable. Like a fairytale. Something you only see in movies or read in books...

She pauses for a while as she thought about something, before shrugging her shoulders once more in a nonchalant manner.

Jisoo: But then again, you could always search it all up.

Jennie her eyebrow up questioningly at Jisoo as she leans back in the chair and crosses her arms.

Jennie: What makes you so sure that I won't search it up now? If that happens then there would be no reason left for us to meet.

Jisoo nodded in agreement to Jennie's statement, before leaning in closer and gives the younger a confident smirk.

Jisoo: You're not mistaken. But yet we're sitting here together, and you decided not to do that. On the contrary, you had came to this little coffee shop to meet with me so that I could tell you about something that you can easily find with just the click of a button. I mean, I don't mean to brag but I am an amazing storyteller. But I don't think that's the reason why you decided to come meet me.

Jisoo leans in closer, her faces inches away from Jennie's.

Jisoo: I'm curious Jennie Kim. Why is that?

Jennie blinked unknowingly, as she came to realize that Jisoo was right. She found herself at a loss for words as she stares bewilderedly at the oddly charming girl sitting right before her. Jennie found herself unable to find an answer within herself to the older girl's question.

Jennie: I-I don't know...

She pauses for a bit, her eyes searching into the bright, sparkling ones that glistened with wonder as they looked into her own.

And unknowingly, she had found an answer to Jisoo's question.

Jennie: Maybe... maybe it's because of what you said that day.

Jisoo's lips formed into her dazzling heart shaped smile as her eyes lit up with curiosity.

Jisoo: What was it that I had said?

Jisoo waited patiently as Jennie racked her brain for the exact words that the older girl had spoken on that morning. After a few short moments the younger looks up into her eyes and smiled.

Jennie: "People buy books because of what's popular, and not because they wanna be moved or changed in some way." In our society today, I feel like I understand where you are coming from when you had said that. People are too engrossed with their electronics that they don't bother to look at what else is happening around them. The beauty that nature could bring once you really allow yourself to take a look at it, and how reading books can take you on a whole new adventure. And the only time they do buy a book, it's to keep them up with the latest trends and what is popular at the moment.

Jennie pauses for a bit to catch her breath as she takes another glance at Jisoo. The older girl stared at her in awe as she urges for her to continue, causing Jennie's lips to curve into a small smile.

Jennie: I... I think it's because I didn't want to take the easy way out like everyone else. I didn't want to be like everyone else. I wanted to find out about the story the old fashioned way, without the help of the internet or any electronics. I wanted to hear you tell it to me.

Once Jennie's whole rant was over, Jisoo couldn't help but find herself feeling more attracted to the younger girl.

Right from the first time she had laid her eyes on Jennie, she could tell that the latter was different from everyone else. And she was right.

Jennie Kim was an angel.

Jisoo: You're really one of a kind Miss Kim. I'm really glad that I had met you that day.

Jennie looks into Jisoo's eyes and saw nothing of the flirty nor playfulness that the older girl had continuously emitted ever since she had met her.

What Jennie saw reflected Jisoo's eyes was nothing but sincerity.

And just like their first encounter, Jennie's lips unknowingly curves up into a genuine smile.

Jennie: I think... I think...

Jennie's words were interrupted by a familiar Australian voice that came from behind the counter. Both girls turned towards the sound of the voice to find Chaeyoung approaching them with an annoyed look on her face.

Chaeyoung on the other hand suddenly came to an abrupt stop when she had realized that she had interrupted the two older girl's.

She smiles in embarrassment and shoots Jisoo an apologizing look before turning around to head back towards the counter.

Jisoo releases a light chuckle before turning back to face Jennie.

Jisoo: That was Chaeyoung, the owner of the store. Also know as my best friend who is a giant chipmunk.

Jennie giggles a bit at Jisoo's little remark about Chaeyoung's height, which made the older girl smile proudly.

Jennie: She's cute.

Jisoo frowns a bit in a teasing manner as she pretends to be hurt.

Jisoo: Yah, How can you talk about her like that when I'm sitting right in front of you. I'm hurt Jennie Kim.

Jennie rolled her eyes as she releases a lighthearted scoff.

Jennie: Shut up already you big baby. You're being over dramatic.

Jisoo smiles in return as she takes a glance at her watch and realizes that it was already 3:00.

Jisoo: Wow, time really passed by fast today didn't it.

At Jisoo's words, Jennie took at glance at her watch before releasing a shocked gasp.

Jennie: Its already 3:00?!

Jisoo smiles as she nodded.

Jisoo: Let's end our chat here for today. You should head home to get ready for your dinner with your friend.

Jennie stares at Jisoo in amazement as she found herself smiling once again.

Jennie: Daebak. I can't believe that there is a considerate side to you Kim Jisoo.

Jisoo gives her a smirk and a nonchalant shrug.

Jisoo: I told you that there's still a lot you don't know about me Jennie Kim.

Jennie smiles doubtfully as she nodded her head.

Jennie: Uh huh. But don't think that this will make me change my mind about you Jisoo. I really meant it when I said that I'm not looking for a relationship.

Jisoo: And I'm not one to give up

Jennie shoots her a warning gaze, causing Jisoo to raise her hands up in surrender as she releases a soft laugh.

Jisoo: Okay, okay. You win.

Jisoo extends her arm out across the table as she waited for Jennie's hand to shake it.

Jisoo: Friends?

After a bit of hesitation, the younger girl extended her own arm and shook Jisoo's hand.

Jennie: Friends.

Chapter 3: JISOO IS SO GREASY, I CANNOT TT
I love how Lisa is just a shy, whipped gayball of energy for Chae. Wtf, why does ChaeLisa always have me going soft for them everytime?

JenSoo is like the opposite with tsundere dumpling Jennie trying to get past every flirtatious attempt made by smug little Jichu. Is it too early to say that Jisoo could make Jennie really happy if she just gives her a chance? I think it is.

Anywho, thank you for the update ^^
