Chess Game 2 - Lost SinsThe bright light blinded him as soon as the blindfold was taken off. His eyes needed a few seconds to get used to it. Once he could see around, it took the man all his might to stay calm.
One minute he was quietly lying in his bed and the next he was standing on the edge of an iron beam over a construction site. Under his feet an abysmal nothingness unfolded, he had never had trouble with highs in his life but the cold wind threatened to make him fall at any moment. The man was trying his best to stay as steady as possible, but the vest full of rocks he was wearing was making it difficult. How much longer could he continue like this?
“When your eyes try too much to see through the darkness then your mind starts imagining things, and you get lost.”
A cold voice suddenly broke the silence and echoed through the speakers all around him. The man started yelling, asking who it was, where he was and what was happening. When only silence answered him he started screaming in panic, pleading for help, but still no answer. He didn’t understand why that was happening to him, he didn’t want to die. Because a fall from this high he was sure to end up crushed on the dirt. Sweat started running down his spine and neck; tears covered his face, as he made all the effort to keep balance.
