Innocent

Forever In My Heart
Sunny Angel Center   is a place where kids who had trauma are placed. Doctors help the kids to deal with their traumas, and help them heal. Since last year, Sunnee had been volunteering in this center. It started with a punishment from school after she made a ruckus during their school festival parade, but then she realized she enjoyed helping out the kids.

"Thank you for spending time with the kids here." Aaron told Sunnee as they were doing their rounds. "Somehow, you made the patients  more calmer when you talk to them. That's a gift you got there." he said. Sunnee just smiled politely at the doctor. "Thanks, Doc Aaron. And thank you for guiding me with the kids." she said. "Well, if you're going to follow my path and become a doctor like me, you're going to be a good one." Aaron praised her. Sunnee couldn't help but let out a laugh.

"Wayne is new here, right?" she asked. Aaron nodded his head. "He was sent here because he was bullied bad in his old school, it's affecting him. Hopefully, we could somehow help him."
"Why is he being bullied? He looked like someone who could stand up for himself..."
"Because of his uality."

Sunnee stopped walking, and gave the doctor a confused look. "Wayne is being bullied because he's gay." Aaron explained. "Aw, that's  too bad."
"That he's getting bullied?"
"That he's gay. He's kinda cute."

Aaron laughed, and ruffled her hair. "Aiyo, don't flirt with our patients, all right?" Aaron said. Sunnee also let out a laugh. The two of them went inside the cafeteria, and from behind the counter, he saw group of guys helping out. "Is it volunteer season, Doc? I'm seeing new faces volunteering here." she asked. Aaron nodded his head. "Come on, I'll introduce you to them." he said.

The two of them walked towards the counter to greet the volunteers. "Hello, boy! What's our food today?" he asked the two guys by the counter. The both looked at the head doctor, and smiled at him. "Hey, doc. We cooked braised pork today." one of them said. Aaron just nodded his head.

"Oh, by the way. Sunnee, these are our new volunteers. This is  Li Chung Lin, and beside him is Eric. Guys, this is Sunnee. She's one of the permanent volunteers here in the center." Aaron said. The two guys smiled at Sunnee. "It's nice to meet you, Sunnee." Eric said. Chung Lin looked at Sunnee, and then realized something. "Are you the Sunnee jie that the kids were talking about?" he asked. Sunnee just smiled at him. "I guess so..." she said.

"So heavy!"

Behind Chung Lin, a taller guy emerged from the kitchen with a big pot on his hands. He carefully put the pot on the counter. She doesn't know why, but Sunnee just kept staring at him. "And this is Hu Yi Tian. Our volunteer cook." Aaron said.  Yi Tian looked at them, but his eyes gazed at the short haired girl. He found himself smiling at her, as pink colors his cheek.

"Nice to meet you." he said, extending his hand to her. Sunnee smiled, and took his hand. "Same here." she said.

Chun rushed to  the dean's office, and found Dylan with a girl. "Dylan, what happened?" he asked. The dean stood up to greet Chun. "Mr. Wu, your stepson reported to us what happened the day your daughter beat up Simon. We're very sorry for our rash actions." the dean said.

Chun gave them a confused look. "The truth is, this girl was being molested by him. Sunnee only tried to protect her. We are going to investigate this matter, but for now, she can go back to school." the deal said.

Angry, Chun pulled the dean by the collar. "You should have investigated first before you suspended my daughter!" he shouted at him. Dylan immediately rushed to his stepdad, and pulled him away.

"We're very sorry, Mr. Wu. We won't let this happen again." the dean apologized. "It should! I'm paying a huge amount on this school, and all of you are incompetent!" he shouted. Dylan held his dad's arm to calm him down. "Dad, it's OK. At least now, we proved that Sunnee's innocent. And this is not the only case were Sunnee got in trouble for helping her classmates..." Dylan explained.

Chun gave him a confused look. "What do you mean?" he asked. "Each time Sunnee gets in trouble, it's because she was helping her classmates from the bullies. Dad, she's a good person. She just didn't beat up those people before for no reasons." Dylan explained.

He felt guilty upon hearing that. Sunnee was right before, he should have listened to her reasons instead of judging her right away. Making assumptions about her past actions in school just made her more distant to him.

"I was wrong..." he said in a low voice. He looked at Dylan, and saw him smiling at him. "It's all right, dad. You can apologize to her. I know she will forgive you." Dylan told him. Chun just nodded his head. "I guess, I should do that..." he told him.

Wayne sat on the bench of the garden alone. He was in his deep thoughts, when suddenly, he saw a hand reaching out to him. On the hand was a small red candy. "Try it." he heard someone say. He looked up, and saw Sunnee smiling at him. "This candy is a magical one. Whoever eats it becomes happy." she said.

Hesitant, Wayne took the candy, and put it on his mouth after unwrapping it. Sunnee sat beside him. She watched as he slowly smiled. "This tastes good!" Wayne said. Sunnee smiled back at him. "See, I told you. It makes you happy." she said.

They looked at the horizon as both of them were silent. She knew Wayne wanted to be alone, but she is scared he would hurt himself again, just like what happened that morning.

"Why can't people accept who I am?" Wayne said sadly. Sunnee looked at him. She saw the tears falling on his cheeks. "I tried to change, but this is who I really am... why can't they accept that?" he asked her.

Sunnee let out a sad smile. "Most people don't have an open mind to understand things. They want people to conform based on what they want and what they know. Wayne, nothing's wrong with you. It's just that this world is too cruel for you."
"That's why I wanted to die..."
"If you die, will it change anything?"

Sunnee then held his hand. "If you live a little longer, maybe you can help this world change, even by a little bit. If you stay alive, maybe you'll find the freedom you're looking for. So just hold on, OK? There will always be people that will be supporting you. And that includes me." she told him. Wayne looked at her, and then he began to cry. She pulled him, and hugged him as she cried on her shoulders.

"Let's go home!"

Chung Lin said as they were heading to the gate. "Finally!" Eric said. Yi Tian saw Sunnee and Wayne together, and stopped to watch them. When he saw Sunnee smiling, he couldn't help but smile to himself.

"Yi Tian?" Chung Lin called. Yi Tian looked at him. "Ah, someone's looking at Sunnee!" Eric . Yi Tian just smiled at them. "Let's go home. Tomorrow will be a busy day ahead us." he told his friends.

He looked at Sunnee one last time before heading out.

--

Sunnee got inside the mansion, and saw his father by the living room. He looked at her sternly as she walked towards him. "Where have you been? You know that you're grounded, right?" he asked.

As she opened to speak, Ella approached them. "Chun, dear, I asked her to run some errands for me." she said. Sunnee looked at Ella, surprised that she had to lie to her father for her. After she disrespected her the day before, she was still helping her.

Chun let out a sigh. "OK, if that's the case. Anyway, Sunnee, you can go back to school tomorrow." he said. Sunnee gave her father a confused look. "What do you mean?" she asked. "Your name has been cleared, so you can go back to school." Chun said.

Still, it made her confused. Who cleared her name? "Dylan helped you to clear your name. So, they're no longer suspending you. They will investigate the other cases you had before." Chun explained.

Instead of being happy, Sunnee was more of angry with Dylan. She doesn't like it that he meddled with her business. "Oh, so it's favorite child, huh?" she said sarcastically. She folded her arms as she glared at her father. "You asked him to help me?"
"Dylan wanted to help you, so I let him."
"I don't need his help!"

Chun was surprised at her reaction. "He only did that to prove he's better than me, and so that you'll praise him. Good for him, he got it." Sunnee said. Chun let out a sigh. This time, he decided to be more patient with her. "He did that because he's concerned for you. As your big brother -"
"He's not my brother! I will not accept him, and your ty new wife!"

Before he knew it, he slapped Sunnee again. He was surprised at his own action, but she provoked him. "Chun!" Ella called him. She walked towards them, and pulled him. "Apologize to your mom." Chun commanded her. "No!" Sunnee shouted at him. "Apologize!"
"I won't apologize. She's not even my real mom."
"Your real mom is not here, and as long as you live in my house, she is your mom."
"I don't accept her as my mom, OK?"

Ella held Chun's hand, afraid he will hurt her again. "It's all right, Chun. Don't be too hard on her." Ella told him. Sunnee glared at the two of them. "Whatever it is you say or do, I will never, ever accept those strangers in this house." she said before walking out on them.

"Sunnee!" Chun called her. Ella stopped him from following her. "Chun, let her anger die down first. Nothing will happen if you two talk when you're both mad." Ella told him. Chun looked at his wife, and just let out a sigh.

Sunnee barged in Dylan's room, and marched towards him. Dylan was surprised at what she did. "Sunnee?" he called.

Then, Sunnee pulled him by his collar, and glared at him. "How many times do I have to tell you to mind your own business?!" she asked angrily. "I just want to help you..." Dylan said. "I don't need your help!"she shouted at him. Then, she pushed him.

Dylan fell on the floor. He looked up at Sunnee sadly. "I know you're innocent. I want to prove that you're not really bad. I just want to help you..." explained. "I'm fine without you, OK? I don't need you to clean up my mess. Just stay out of my life!" she shouted at him before marching out of his room.

The next day.

Sunnee was walking on the school ground alone. She was supposed to go to the school's bookstore to buy something, when someone pulled her. She found herself leaning on the wall at the back of their building. In front of her is Simone, the one who attacked and molested Ao Juan the other day.

She clenched her fist as she glared at him, and Simon just smirked at her. He put his hands on her both sides so she can't get away from him.  "You like getting in trouble, do you?" he asked. He then pressed his body against her. Sunnee tried to fight back, but he proved much stronger than him.

He leaned on her, and breath on her neck. Every second, she's getting more scared of him. "You ruined my moment with that junior, now you have to pay for it." he whispered to her. She tried to push him, but he was persistent. He was stronger than her, and her fear made her weak and unable to fight back.

He d her body as he kissed her neck. "No..." she tried to shout. But no voice came out of . She could only cry as Simon molests her . "Stop it!" she said as she cried. But Simon just continued with his evil deeds.

As Simon pressed his lips against her, someone pushed Simon away from her. Her mind went blank and just looked at the person beat him up. She fell on the ground as she cried out of fear.

"Stay away from my sister!" she heard a familiar voice say. She heard Simon running away from them. She wanted to stand up, but she was still weak from what happened.

"Sunnee? Are you OK?"

She looked in front of him, and saw Dylan looking at her worriedly. He cupped her cheeks as he looked at her. "Sunnee... are you hurt anywhere?" Dylan asked again worriedly. She let out a loud cry, and Dylan pulled her into a hug.

"Ssshhhh... it's OK..." he said, trying to calm her down. "Big brother is here...."
