Hanahaki. As the name suggests, Hana is from Japanese which means flower. Hanahaki is a disease that attacks the system of the human body, causing those who suffer from coughing and vomiting a flower petal due to unrequited love. There are only two ways to get rid of this disease, get loved from the one we love or extract the flowers by surgery. If you choose surgery, Hanahaki can be cured, but the sufferer's love for the person he loves will disappear. But, if left untreated, the sufferer will die of shortness of breath. And everyone knows about this disease.

Seungri, a teenage boy found a beautiful flower. That flower is one of the simplicity of a life. When Seungri throws flower petals one by one, he can't hate them. They remind Seungri about Jiyong and his fond memories of him. Seungri who had read Hanahaki's disease before, wondered how the human body's system could spit out a flower petal just because of a feeling of love. But, he did not expect, he would suffer from this disease.

Seungri knows that this will come. When his best friend Jiyong had returned from his dream for several hours, Jiyong's adorable and handsome face made Seungri want to pinch Jiyong's cheek. And that made Seungri aware of his feelings. Actually he wanted to express his feelings, but he abandoned his intention when he saw someone named Nana whom he met in the Nekopyon where he worked. It can be seen clearly that Nana have feelings for Jiyong. All of that was visible from the gentle, loving, and caring gaze he emitted from his eyes as he looked at Jiyong.

Seungri knows what will happen if he likes someone and can't have it. He believed, maybe if he denied his feelings, he did not need to bother spewing the flower petals. Seungri kept telling himself to stop before things got worse. Especially when Nana decides to express her feelings, and is accepted by Jiyong.

Jiyong already belongs to someone else. Nana and Jiyong, they become lovers. Seungri knows that. But still, his chest hurt when he saw Jiyong and Nana together. Seungri could only squeeze his chest hoping that the pain he felt would disappear.

That day, Seungri got a turn to help Daesung close the Nekopyon. Daesung is childhood friend of Seungri, they are quite close like Seungri and Jiyong. At that time, Daesung who was chatting while completing their assignment was startled by the very loud cough caused by Seungri. Daesung quickly helped the coughing Seungri while holding his stomach. Daesung's eyes widened perfectly when he saw a small white object. Yes, a white rose petal came out of Seungri's mouth.

 

"How long has it been?" Daesung asked Seungri who had returned to normal

"It's been a week, I guess" Seungri answered briefly

"Jiyong…?" Daesung asked and got a weak nod from Seungri "You have to say how you feel to him! If you don't, remove the flower before you die!"

 

A sentence that snapped and was quite painful made Seungri realize that his friend really cared about him.

 

"Don't tell him, please…" Seungri said, putting on a face begging "anyway… I also don't want to remove this, I don't want this feeling to disappear, because I love him so much…" he added and Daesung could see a sad smile on Seungri's face

"If this continues, you can die Ri!" Daesung snapped once again

"Just let me die…" Daesung was immediately shocked to hear such a sentence could come out of someone's cheerful like Seungri

"Rose…" Daesung said, breaking the silence that had enveloped them "that's… white rose petals" he added

 

Hearing that, Seungri just nodded and smiled bitterly. White rose which means purity, majesty and purity of heart. Just like Seungri's feelings for Jiyong.

 

"This rose reminds me of Jiyong's white hair" Seungri said with a sincere smile

Seungri knows he can't hide this forever. After Daesung found out about this disease, it's now Youngbae's and Seunghyun's turn to find out. That afternoon, Seungri who had an appointment walked towards Youngbae and Seunghyun's classrooms. But he stopped right a few meters before Youngbae and Seunghyun's classrooms. Seungri leaned over, leaning his body against the wall while holding his stomach.

 

‘No… not now…’ he thought

 

But that cannot be prevented. In an instant Seungri fell down together with several flower petals breaking out of his mouth. And that made a scene in front of Youngbae and Seunghyun's classrooms. Youngbae was curious about the noise surrounding his class, deciding to see the situation. And how shocked he was when he found Seungri lying on the floor and surrounded by lots of white rose petals. Without thinking, Youngbae and Seunghyun immediately took Seungri to the infirmary room. Once Seungri conscious, he knew if he was currently in the infirmary room and accompanied by Youngbae and Seunghyun. Immediately he covered his face. Seungri was very embarrassed and if possible he wanted to disappear from the front of his two friends. Not only interrogated, but now Youngbae and Seunghyun know about this secret.

 

"How long do you want to keep this up? You have to get rid of it” Youngbae said as he gave a bottle of drinking water that Seunghyun brought to Seungri then folded his arms and shook his head slightly seeing Seungri's current condition

"Who knows about this?" Seunghyun asked Seungri who was enjoying the water given to him

"Daesung… and now you two" he replied

"Don't forget all the people who saw you lying down earlier" added Youngbae

"Yes, you're right…" Seungri said after sighing slowly realizing what Youngbae said

"Uhm, let me guess… Jiyong…?" Seungri spontaneously closed his eyes softly hear the name coming out of Youngbae's mouth

"Is it… that clear?" Seungri asked, rubbing his neck, a little embarrassed

"Do you want to know my opinion?" Asked Seunghyun and was greeted with a nod from Seungri

"The answer, yes! It's very clear… for all of us, except Jiyong, of course" answered Seunghyun while nodding

"Jiyong doesn't care too much about you, he just thinks you're just a close friend, nothing more. Seunghyun and I and maybe Daesung too, always pay attention to you, from the way you look at him, your behavior towards him, everything looks very clear! And we know one day this kind of thing will definitely happen" Youngbae patted Seungri's shoulder

"Thank you for worrying about me" Seungri said smiling, he was happy to have friends who loved him so much

"Do you plan to say it or remove it?" Asked Youngbae a second time, hoping to get an answer that might satisfy his curiosity, but what he got was a shake of the head of Seungri

"I know the meaning of your head is 'no', but 'no' in what sense? not say it, or not remove it?" Asked Youngbae once again while frowning trying to get rid of the sudden bad feeling he felt on his chest

"not both…"

 

Seungri lowered his head, didn't dare to look directly at the two friends. And at once he fell on the floor and he felt his cheeks throb slowly, its hurt. A hard hit from Youngbae hit his cheek.

 

"You will die if you don't get rid of the flower! At least go to the hospital, idiot!" Snapped Youngbae who clenched his fists in emotion

"Wait! Stop that Bae, you can't hit Seungri! He is sick!” Seunghyun seemed to be trying to stop Youngbae

"Sorry… I know, I will die if I don't get rid of this flower, but I also don't want to get rid of my feelings for Jiyong" he explained while trying to stand up and sit again in the bed in the infirmary room "Falling in love is something beautiful" he said again, only a smile was beautifully displayed on Seungri's face

"It happens if the person you love also loves you! Hh…~" Youngbae said sitting down and lowering his head

 

Seungri just smiled at that. Actually, that is what he expected, but what he can do if God says otherwise. Youngbae and Seunghyun looked sad and sympathetic seeing Seungri's condition, who had to suffer from this kind of illness just because of a one-sided love.

One day, Seungri and Jiyong went to a amusement park. This is a very valuable opportunity for Jiyong to play with his best friend. Jiyong apologized to Seungri because since he was dating Nana, he rarely met and spent time with Seungri.

 

"It's okay, after all you already have a girlfriend now…x Better, you spend time with her" Seungri smiled while holding back the pain in his chest

 

They rarely take advantage of this opportunity by having fun together. They ride the vehicle they wanted, and during that time Seungri couldn't take his eyes off Jiyong. For a long time he hadn't seen Jiyong's laughter and smile, Seungri hoped he could feel this every day with Jiyong. Seungri was grateful Jiyong didn't realize how hard his heart beat and the melancholy face he accidentally showed when he looked at Jiyong.

Seungri felt a sudden pain in his chest while they were eating. Immediately he held his stomach and left the table, going to the toilet. Of course Jiyong was surprised at Seungri's behavior. A few minutes later, Seungri returned. Jiyong put on a worried face and asked Seungri if he was fine or not, but Seungri didn't answer. Jiyong decides to ask again, and Seungri replies that he is fine and is just eating wrong this morning. Can be seen clearly if Seungri lied about it, but Jiyong is not at all suspicious of his words. Seungri knows lying is a bad thing, but Seungri doesn't want to make this one worry.

Over time, the condition of Seungri's body got worse. Daesung, Youngbae and Seunghyun are aware of that. The flower grows bigger and starts clogging Seungri's respiratory system. This makes Seungri faint more often due to shortness of breath. Many times, Youngbae, Seunghyun, and Daesung invited Seungri to go to the doctor to check his condition and surgery, but many times Seungri refused for the same reason. Even though he had been told, if his feelings were getting bigger, then the flowers would grow even bigger. But he ignored that.

Seungri began not to enter class and work because his condition was getting weaker, he decided to sleep at home, enjoying peace in the dream before he woke up because a flower petal forced out of his mouth.

This is the ninth time Seungri has spewed flower petals today, and that makes Daesung angry with him.

 

"You need to get rid of the flower! You already know that your condition is getting worse right ?! "Daesung snapped

"Of course I know, Dae…"
