02. Supposed To

"What? What did you just say?" That Se Hun boy asked the girl who screamed earlier.

Oh My Banana, if she's going to scream like that ever again, I swear my heart will jump out from its place.

"I said leave him alone! Monster!" My eyes met hers.

Me? What? How? Did the ostriches finally walk backwards? How come she's able to see me? This is not happening! And did she just call me a 'monster'? Ouch. That's offensive. 

I dropped my scythe on the floor and gave her a questioning look. She shot me a deathly glare. Yes, she was definitely looking at me. But she is not supposed to!

"Did you just call me a monster?" Se Hun rose from his seat and walked near her. His face looked flustered when he sat next to the girl's arm. Still, not as flustered as how I was though.

The girl's face turned red, did she just blushed? "Eh, no. I-i-i mean the thing beside you. Look! There!" And then she pointed at me! Holy pears!

I crossed my hands on my chest, and made an 'X' sign using them. "No way! He's unable to see me! You're not supposed to see me either!" I yelled at her.

"What 'Thing'? There's nobody here except us, Ha Neul."

The girl looked confused.

"See?" I said to her.

"B-b-but I saw it! It was there holding something big! And sharp and-and just now it was talking to me and—"

I begged her to stop on telling Se Hun about me and what I was doing. But she didn't seem to understand, she kept on explaining things to him rapidly. She even choked twice because... If I may guess, she forgot to inhale some oxygen.

This is the first time ever, in the history of my occupation. I am seen by a girl. An ordinary one. From what I can see on her facial expression, she was scared to death. Was I that intimidating? It's not my fault though. This is what I do, this is me. But the terrified look on her face was just unbearable. I felt as if I just committed a crime. And luckily, she was there, and she saved the day.

Se Hun in the other hand, didn't notice what was happening. He even said that the girl, hmm, Ha Neul wasn't it? Yeah. He even said that Ha Neul was imagining things! Se Hun asked her if her forehead was better. I glanced at her forehead.. Ah, apparently there was a bruise. Poor girl.

Somehow, Se Hun made an explanation of her 'hallucination'. He said that it appeared due to the confusion that was caused by the pain on her forehead. That makes sense, though I knew that it was REAL and she was not imagining things.

But what can I say? I sighed as I kept on thinking why am I feeling so guilty all of a sudden. I had no choice except to take my scythe with me and fly outside. Fly somewhere. Anywhere but here. I bid my farewell, which was responded by a shocked expression on Ha Neul's face.

Banana.

The atmosphere here made me feel like I'm a bad guy. In fact, I'm not. But from Ha Neul's perspective—I guess I am. Sheep, I feel sooo bad.

I guess being a Black Angel has its own difficulties... I frowned as I flew out from the room.

To tell you the truth, I was extremely shocked when I realized that she was able to see me. I am protected with the ability of being invisible for humans. Only for humans. Not animals and stuffs.

I was trying to get a hold to myself. This... I don't know. This feels so... Errgh. I can't even explain it. I don't like being put up as a bad guy! No I don't! I don't!! Now I even hate it!

I shook my head and wandered around the school. I was irritated by the fact that the invisibility power wasn't very effective after all. A girl just saw me doing my job.

Man, that's serious problem. How did she? How come she could see me?

I flew around the school, and decided to go outside to search for YiXing. He's the only one I can trust. And I hope he has an explanation for what just happened.

Flying higher. The sun got brighter, and the heat was stinging. Seconds later, I saw a couple of birds, socializing? They were happily hanging around the trees. Hmm, I've always liked the sound they made.

I stopped flying and stood on a thick branch. I rested my wings and tilt my head up. Thoughts started to build..

Why do I feel a little guilty? Why? I I don't want to be seen as a crime suspect. I've always lived my life as an angel— A Black Angel— who has never ever been put up as a bad figure. Guess it was just a coincidence that she was able to see me. She's a human right? Because a human will never ever ever be able to see me.

Or... She's something different?

For the love of God! That's the most acceptable explanation for her ability! She.is.not.a.human!

I raised my scythe up and smiled in victory! Which was responded by the sounds of birds flying away. I guess they were scared. Well, I couldn't care less! I just solved a puzzle! Heheh, I threw my fist on the air, but instantly put it down when I realized...

I don't know what she is.

If she's not a human, then, what? What is she? A camel? A potato? A chocolate bar? Her hair was brown! But she's not a chocolate bar, she breathes. Then, what is she?

I gritted my teeth in annoyance. Apples, what's with that Ha Neul Girl? I hate her for making me think too far—

"Whoa, I've never seen you so distracted before. What happened?"

YiXing's voice snapped me back to reality.

"A girl just saw me doing MY job. Well, almost doing my job if I must call, she seemed... Terrified. And it gave me a tingle. She even said that I'm a monster! I am not! I'm an angel.

"But it doesn't change the fact that I still feel bad. Because she thought I was going to kill her friend. Literally, I was. But that's what I am told to do! That's not a mistake, right? And I am doing the right thing. So, tell me why am I feeling guilty?!"

"'Girl'? You're talking about a human right?"

"What else should I be distracted at?"

"And she saw you?"

I shot him an 'are-you-dumb?' look.

"Okay okay, that's something we don't get everyday. And it's very unusual for a girl to have the ability of seeing angels. I guess she's special. Out of topic, did you manage to do your job and execute the boy named... Se Hun?"

"...I didn't. I was too shocked."

"You should finish him first. Then, we'll go back to heaven and ask for an explanation of the girl's ability. Okay?"

"...I guess so. I'll leave now then."

I bowed to YiXing and started to fly. Being a Black Angel is a hard job you know, your wings are like your only transporter. How I wish angels could teleport. Especially on a hot day like this.

I took out my hPad². This device were made to help Black Angels on doing their duties. It provides us the target's criteria, location, background, and life summary.

I touched and touched and swept and touched and pressed the touchscreen. Finally, I found Se Hun's location. 'Get ready, Kris, it's show time!' I prepared myself and dashed the way to Se Hun's location.

I flew 100kmph. I'm curious about the girl. I want to go back to heaven a.s.a.p. And ask some-angel to explain her to me.

I stopped when my hPad beeped twice, indicating that I was already at somewhere near Se Hun. I flicked my hair as I went down to the street, crowded with people passing by. I folded my wings and searched for the boy by foot.

Then, I found him inside an ice-cream shop. I was going to storm inside and just get it over with him. When suddenly, I saw the girl's figure, sitting on a chair. Waiting for Se Hun who was paying for a cone of Ice-cream. Arrgh, elephants! what the fruit is she doing there? If I just storm inside without being careful I might as well end up like earlier in her school.

Being forced to hide, I covered my mouth using my left hand and rested my back—including wings—on the glass window behind the girl. I hugged my scythe using my right hand and purposely eavesdrop on Ha Neul's conversation with Se Hun.

"Here you go, Macadamia Brittle as you wished for!"

"Thank you very much, S-S-Se Hun-sshi..."

"Aish, don't be so awkward, chill out! Consider this treat as an apology from me and my shoes for hitting your forehead, hard... And enough with the 'sshi-s'. Just call me Se Hun, arrasso?"

"O-okay, Se Hun-sshi, I-i mean, Se Hun."

This girl is too awkward, even her face was so red that people could've mistaken her as a tomato.

Se Hun's voice turned deep, "So.... About the monster thing earlier, let's just forget it okay? As much as I want to believe you, it just sounded too cliché. It's like the scenes you find in movies. I'm sorry Ha Neul-ah... But we're cool, right?"

I peeked through the window to see her reactions.

Hmm... She shrugged awkwardly, "I guess so. Maybe you're right, maybe I was imagining things. Thank you for looking after me earlier though. I owe you one. I guess I'll give you something in return..."

"No need to. It's my fault that your forehead got bruised. Does it still hurt? Let me check..."

"OW." Ha Neul winched in pain.

Judging by how she responded, I guess she really did fall very hard.

Se Hun pouted, "Ah, I'm sorry. Now your pretty face is hurt. I'm so sorry. But I still think you look pretty though. Regardless of that swollen forehead hahaha. You shouldn't mind it. You're a natural beauty."

No response.

Tsk, youngsters these days...

"Hey... Ha Neul?"

".....Y-y-yes?"

"I'm just wondering... Why are you so shy and quiet around me? Unlike when you're around your girlfriends. You seem pretty noisy when you're around Dali..."

"Uh.. Well, that's because... Umm."

I raised my eyebrows, these two kids are so adorable. But please, make it quick! I need to go back to heaven..

Suddenly, Ha Neul pushed her chair backward and stood up, "I'm sorry Se Hun... Unfortunately I can't answer that question. Thank you for treating me and taking care of me. I must leave now. Once again, thank you and bye bye. I'll see you in school tomorrow." She bowed and looked down to hide her face with her long hair. I guess she was blushing! Ohh, so cutee.

Ha Neul walked to the entrance of the shop rapidly as she carried her school bag with her. Moments later, Se Hun was left dumbfounded. So... Yeah, this is my chance. I have to end this once and for all.

I carried my scythe on my shoulders as I walked to the shop's entrance. But I guess it wasn't my lucky day, I met eyes with that girl. I should've waited for a minute or two. Yeah, to avoid her. But I didn't. Stupid impatient Kris.

Peaches, now, what do I do?

"YOU!" Her eyes popped out in shock.

"Hello there. It's nice to see you again, Special Girl." I smiled sweetly as I bowed, giving her as many charms as possible. She's quiet a lovely lady to be looked at this closely. Her face looked very insecure.

I chuckled, "Don't worry, I don't bite."

"But you kill people."

Silence.

Swoosh, there it goes again. A slight punch to my heart.

"Literally, yes. But 'kill' is such a mean word. After all, people will all die eventually."

She leaned closer, and stood on her toes, "You, weirdly tall creature. I don't know what you are, and who you are. Although you look so innocently handsome, your movements are very deceiving. What's facinating is that; you have wings... Black wings! What are you?"

I smiled and moved closer too, "I'm sorry if my height is a problem for you. Thank you for telling me that I'm handsome. Miss Ha Neul, I am an angel. And I am here to do my duty. So if you excuse me—"

"Wait, where are you going?"

She blocked me using her short and small arms. Auh, I could just easily fly up and pass by her, but I think I'll play this game. And also, her worried face was very amusing to look at heheh,

"Inside that shop."

"No! you can't go there!"

"Why can't I?"

"Because Se Hun is inside and I can't let you come near him. No, not after what I saw at the School. You're too dangerous."

"But his time on earth is over. And he must leave. That's his destiny! You can't change that, Miss."

"Uh... But, no. I don't want him to go. Not yet. Not now, when we finally got close to each other. I'm not going to let it happen."

A crush huh?

"My dearest apology. But it has to be done today, Young Lady."

I smiled at her and walked to the shop's entrance.

"Angel! Wait!"

I turned my head and saw her big round eyes peeking through the feathers of my wings. She looked so small.... Melons, I was aching to kidnap and interrogate her. Abusing her with the questions that were driving me insane. I don't know why though, but her face looked so worried that it was... What do they call it... Eh.... Err.... Ah, never mind.

The girl yelled, "I'll do anything to keep you from taking him away!"

I smiled in curiosity, "Anything?"

And then an idea popped out. Bingo.
