06. A Day With You

'Oh look! there's a flying cat outside! And there! See? There's a mosquito in the size of a nose! Come on, Kris. Be interested in something.' I forced myself to concentrate at the surroundings. 'Don't look at her, Kris. Don't. Just don't.' One more look and I will sink into the same confusingly unexplainable hole. The same hole with an undefinable force, where I will surrender to my pride, and obey every single word that comes out from the girl's lips. I wouldn't want that to happen. That would be frustrating, even for a strong person like me.

Just a few hours ago, I was standing outside her school. Snickering to myself every time a woman who passed by, smiles at me. Those who smiled then giggled along the way as they disappeared. Wait, do I look funny? I tried my best not to respond. And thank God, I managed to keep a straight face as I glared at them. Not only women, the men also looked at me from head to toe. With one eyebrow raised, they'd stare at me enviously.

There, there, pineapple heads, I'm not some statue you can look at all day long, you know. I kept on groaning each time someone stares at me. Buy me an invisible camouflage cloak please. Their eyes were not very pleasing... And I don't like it. YiXing, please take me away from here.....

 I sighed as I sat on a bench in front of Ha Neul's school, I was waiting for her to show up. I didn't know where else to find her except Seoul Senior High School. Tao didn't give me the permission to stay in his place for more than three days. He said that he will be having a company staying at his place. I bet the 'company' is a girl. You know, judging by how ert looking he is... Ah, I shouldn't bother thinking about that. I know just the right fruit name to curse what Tao will be doing with the 'company'. And I will sit back down and patiently bite my tongue until that day comes. May God ruin his dirty plans.

Ha Neul was the only human I knew, so I needed to talk to her. I felt so helpless and I was hoping that she could help me. Lucky me, I saw her walking out the school gate with an annoyed face. A light bulb popped out of my head and I decided to follow her from behind. I grinned as I walked soundly, and kept a safe distance of two meters behind her. I know, I sounded like a creeper. But trust me, I don't have any bad intentions towards her, people. I'm a former-angel, I still have my manners here.

 From my assumptions, she was upset that sometimes she dragged her foot instead of stomping it to the ground. See? She even forgot to tie her shoelaces! And to add her clumsiness to the situation, I knew that something bad was going to happen. And voila! After minutes of following her, she finally tripped over her own shoe.

 Like a cheetah, I turned into an extremely fast creature in a split second. I ran to her and quickly grabbed her by the waist. I pulled her close to me and made sure that she was safe. Who knows how might she end up if I wasn't there to prevent her from falling. You can thank me later, Ha Neul-ah. Heheh. Now you have to help me with this whole 'place to stay' thingy.

 Hmmm, wait... Holy cows!

I wanted to throw her away the moment I realized that we were in an awkward position. Ooh-oh, what do I do? What do I do? She didn't move an inch for a quite long time. My heart was racing, I needed to speak up. But I can feel by the way she breathed, she felt comfortable in my arms.

'Girls..' I giggled, “Feeling nice there, huh? Heheh. You should be careful, clumsy girl.” She looked at me with slightly opened.

Okay, even when I wasn't holding a scythe, I look intimidating to her? Maybe I was born to be intimidating.

“Uhh, get off.”

And so I did. I walked two steps back. While Ha Neul looked at me with questions written all over her face.

 “Excuse me, Sir.” A person told me to move aside. I moved while still keeping my eyes on Ha Neul, who was examining me right from head to toe. Alright, maybe that was the nine hundredth time I've been stared at that day. But I didn't mind, I'm getting used to it. Although I still feel uncomfortable with their gazes. I guess I was too charming for the humans... Heheh.

 “You look different.” She said in a low voice.

“Yes I am different. I’m a human now.” I smiled at her when she let out a soft gasp escaped from .

“How come?”

 I heard my stomach growled silently, followed by an unpleasant sensation in my whole system. Uhh, I forgot that the last meal I had was the breakfast Tao cooked for me. I needed to eat something.. While holding my abodemen, I told her the whole story of what happened to me as fast as I can. She seemed surprised, “What do you want to do now?”Eat. Eat. And eat only, Young Lady.

 I grabbed her hand and dragged her to the nearest appealing restaurant. We sat on a table and ordered the meals. The moment they arrived, I grabbed a pair of stick the waitress gave me. But, wait, are we supposed to use these to eat? How?

"So, how do you use this stick?"

 "Yah, you're the one who asked me to go to this japanese restaurant. And now you're telling me you don't know how to use chopsticks?"

 I shrugged, "Well, you think?"

 She rolled her eyes as she took my bowl of rice and grabbed the stick away from my hands. She started picking salmon and seaweed using the sticks with ease. I looked at her intensely, studying every moves she made as her facial expression changes. Suddenly, she stuffed the food inside my mouth. Rather roughly...

 But oh, Llamas... That tasted so much better than any other food I could imagine. Maybe because I was being fed by her? Ooh, I don't care!

 I examined every inches of her facial features as I chewed the food she gave. Hmm... Her face, so mildly formed. Especially her honest eyes, framed with long lashes that goes up and down evenly every three seconds (yeah, I counted, surprised much?) My favorite part of her face was the moon-shape curved smile. So neatly behaved. As her pink lips opened, letting out a red small tongue. Sweeping every inch of the lips, reddening them with saliva. This is why they say humans are dangerous, yes, their looks ARE dangerous.

We talked and talked about stuffs. I enjoyed myself there. I laughed so hard when I saw her reactions regarding Tao's problem. Ahaha, It was priceless! Finally, I asked her if she'd let me stay at her place for awhile. And she said yes! I was very happy and surprised at the same time that I couldn't stop blinking my eyes. I am going to live with her for a while. She's willing to help me settle down in Seoul. My body couldn't bare the happiness when I ran inside Tao's apartment to tell him what just happened.

"Tao! ...Tao? Where are you?"

 The lights in his living room were off. I had to walk carefully, I looked around in hope to find the guy's figure. Where in the world is he?

"I'm in the kitchen, Kris."

 I followed his voice into a room with dimmed orange lights. Seconds later, I saw his tall silhouette standing in front of the refrigerator. He was sipping something from a carton milk. Yes, he was in the kitchen. But he only had a piece of towel hanging on his hips. The rest of his body were exposed. "Why are you almost ?"

No, for the love ofleprechauns, I'm not growing special feelings for him. I will never. I'm a normal guy! But seeing his bulky muscles gave me chills on my skull, down my spine.

"Because I just got out from the shower." He closed the refrigerator and walked towards me.

 "So... What did you want to talk about?"

 I could see water dripping down from his hair, going down his neck, to his built up chest. Making their way pass his stomach, and, and—what the duck were you looking at, Kris??

"Uhh, uhh. So I met this girl I told you about. And I asked her if I could stay at her place for a while. She said yes, and she's willing to help me buy some new clothes. I'm leaving tonight, can I borrow one of your outfits for tomorrow?"

 He ran his hands through his wet hair and smiled, "Good for you then. Just take whatever you find in my closet with you. I will be glad to help you, Kris."

 I thanked him and made my way to his bedroom, just by the time his towel slid down his legs. I heard him murmured something, was he cursing? Nah, you should just leave him alone, Kris. I put the outfit into a small handbag and ran out from his bedroom.

I didn't take any look at him when I left his apartment in rush. If I did, maybe I'll become attracted to Tao. Okay, scratch that. Never mind.

Skipping happily, I was very pleased by the fact that Ha Neul was so kind to help me with this. I got inside her car and smiled as wide as I can, “Done. You know... I can’t thank you enough for helping me, Ha Neul. I promise you I’ll find a job to pay for my own living expenses.”

 And then she smiled back at me— softly. Trust me, I was really going to strangle her neck for being too cute in an inhumanly way. I turned away before I could even plan to do so. I sighed, if roses are red, then jasmines are white. And now I am dazed, by your beautiful sight.

Oh Elephants....

Wait, since when did I turn into such a cheesy guy?

 As soon as the car stopped in front of a huge—I mean, enormous, luxurious, incredibly outstanding house, we stepped out from the car. I was astonished by the way they decorated it so professionally. Giving a touch of old royalty feeling into a modern architecture. Simply amazed, I poked Ha Neul's shoulder gently, "Yah, you never told me you came from a very wealthy family."

The girl pouted as she climbed the stairs to the front door of her house, "You never asked either. And I don't think that's necessary for you to know." She opened the door and walked inside. I chased after her and entered the house... It looks even more beautiful in the inside!

When I got inside, I was welcomed by a dozen of maids. Complete with the black and white uniforms plus the hairdressing. They bowed—all in one motion—to me and Ha Neul. Hmmm... I went closer to Ha Neul and whispered, "Are all of these, yours?" She nodded nonchalantly.

One of the maid approached her, "Agasshi, we prepared the dinner for you and the guest. I'll take your school bag to your bedroom. Meanwhile, we will prepare the room for the guest." Ha Neul smiled sweetly and let the maid walk away with her school bag.

 Now that I saw her like this, I guessed she really did look like a princess. "Ha Neul-ah... Will I be sleeping with you?" I just to see her reactions. Ooh, this should be interesting...

But instead of giving me an entertainment, she walked away without answering me. Hmm, weird... I guess she was tired.

 I stood there in silence, doing nothing for approximately five minutes. I looked around the house in awe, trying to find the best of words to describe it. Clean, big, awesome, beautiful, relaxing, comfortable.. Pretty, cute, and seductive—wait. What was I looking at?

Oh mango.. It was Ha Neul!

She was walking down the stairs, her hair was tied back and her fringe was clipped neatly next to her ear. I watched her walked on my direction. She caught me off-guard when I stared at her, blankly.

"H-he-hell no." Was the only thing I managed to say when I realized she was only wearing a short, thin, lacey night dress, and white furry slippers. My inner lust was forcing me to drag her somewhere... Someplace quiet and secluded. Oh Apples, please...

"What?" She asked me awkwardly.

 "Nothing." I buried my secret thoughts deep inside my mind.

 'Manners, Kris. It's all what matters; Manners.' She's a girl I should respect. And never will I be thinking dirty stuffs about her. But apparently, this thing called 'fate' disagreed. She held my hand and pulled me with her. "Come, I will show you your room." I sizzled as I followed her upstairs.

You were an angel, Kris, you can deal with this. It's a piece of cake!Refrain, Kris, Refrain. At times like this, is when I wish God will just rip mything off. If you know what I mean.

After passing seven white doors, we finally arrived in front of 'my' new room. She smiled as she opened the door. Showing me a room with a romantic atmosphere, flowing out and hitting me hard on the head. Out of all the rooms in this house, why did she pick this?

 I was making a conspiracy of her purposely seducing me. I mean, who wouldn't fall for my charms? Right, YiXing?

'Yeah, you wish'.

She dragged me inside and made both of us sat on the edge of the bed. "So, what do you think?"

 "I think it's... Marvelous."And quite tempting for me to ask you to sleep here.

 "Ah.. Thank God you liked it. I thought you were going to hate it since it kinda gives off a romantic vibe."

 "It does. But that's okay, Ha Neul." For now. I guess.

 "Well, I should leave now. You can have a quality time for yourself... And uh, make sure you come down by the time for dinner. Okay?" I flashed her a smile and stood up, I followed her to the door.

Uh, I think I need to get use to this. I mean, to her wearing such piece of clothing..

 She held the door knob before turning back to look at me, "Oh, Kris! I forgot, that's the door to your bathroom. You can take a quick shower if you want to. You must be exhausted right?"

 "Okay. I will."Hurry upand leave me alone already.

I closed the door behind her and rested my back against it.

Are humans even aware of what their bodies might cause? And since when did I turn into such a ert? When I was an Angel, I have never ever thought of things like this. Maybe the day I turned into a human, my hormones burned themselves out and now my body is being controlled by them. I must know how to control this, or I might as well turn into someone like Tao.

Oh,Kris, behave yourself. Don’t let the ‘banana’ inside you take control of your mind.

With a brain full of thoughts, I took off my shirt and walked into the bathroom. I turned the water on and slowly unbuckled my pants. Neat, now the bathroom looks even more romantic than the bedroom.

I heaved as I stepped inside the shower. Hoping the warm water will wash the train of thoughts away. I felt the water pressure pouring against my skin, massaging me like thousands of small needles.

 Now that you’re here, Kris, in a whole new world—what’s your goal of living? I mean, everyone has a purpose to live their lif, right? But what’s mine? And how am I supposed to find out?

 I walked out from the shower wearing a bathrobe.

Not to worry, I will find my purpose of living someday, somewhere.

I threw myself onto the bed and curled into a ball. The world seemed quiet tonight. I could only hear my own heartbeat and the sound of my breathing. If there’s only one thing in this universe that could make me feel safe, then it is home—heaven—far away up there.

Maybe this is what they called ‘homesick’. I do miss all the angels, especially YiXing. Wait, speaking about YiXing... Didn’t he say that I can use my wings at night?

I  shifted away to the big glass window in the room. Peeking through the curtains, I saw the half moon shining proudly among the stars. It’s night already, why don’t I try to spread my wings?

I pushed the robe away, leaving only my bare skin exposed ( Though, the robe was still hanging on my hips.)

Gritting my teeth, I forced a great power to push the wings out.

Ugh.. I shivered when I felt a sharp, yet subtle thing, piercing out from the skin on my back.

 Ooh! It was starting to come out! I clenched my hands and held the back of my neck, as I easily pushed the black-feathered wings out to show its full form.

Nyah, papayas!I felt so relieved when I touched my back and found my wings there.

“Feels like home.” I smiled, sliding the robe down and kicking it somewhere. I wore the pants Tao lend me and laid down on the bed.

The softness of my wing’s feathers seduced me to enter the dream world. A world where everything seems to be in the right place. I held my breath... Finally, I can think clearly without having to be bothered by those bad, boiling hormones. I closed my eyes and started counting sheeps. When I got to the twenty second sheep, I heard footsteps on the front door. My nature told me to pretend sleeping..

I heard someone coming closer. It’s probably Ha Neul. “Ah... You still have your wings, eh? But why didn’t I saw it earlier? Hmm... Whatever. I guess you’re too tired to eat dinner—“ Oh! Yes! I forgot about the dinner!

“Sleep tight there, angel. We have a busy day tomorrow.” I heard her chuckling when she walked out the door.

Yes, indeed. We will be having a pretty busy day tomorrow, Ha Neul-sshi.

Smiling to myself, I drifted my way to sleep when I passed the two hundredth sheep.
