The Final Reporting
CloserDaesung was hanging out in Dara’s apartment that night while she was taking a nap. Daesung took an instant ramyeon from Dara’s fridge and cooked it for dinner. He tried waking up Dara but she was too sleepy to get up so he went back to the kitchen and ate his ramyeon while reading the powerpoint presentation Dara made for their case. He asked her to give him the easy part in reporting because he hated kids... and reporting. Dara gave in even though they both knew that she had stage fright. She was too nice. He thought. “Ha! Whatever! If she wants to impress our seniors in Pediatrics, she must report the important parts. Besides, I know she’ll do great. She just feels too nervous before reporting. But when she starts, her confidence and knowledge make her shine. She’s too—“
“Dae! Why are you talking to yourself?” Dara yawned after asking Daesung.
“Because you were sleeping? And I have no one to talk to? Are you feeling energized now?” Daesung told her with a raised eyebrow.
“Yeah. I was drained from today’s orientation. I am nervous. I am leaving my safe haven — Pediatrics. What will I do! I find anatomy too difficult. Above all, the three of us will be the first group to be separated from you guys! Y’all be in General Surgery,” Dara said in a sad tone.
“I know, I know. I will miss you too, Darabbit. I will help you, okay? You helped me get through Pediatrics. So I will help you in Ortho. Just get us through the final reporting tomorrow and focus on reviewing Anatomy for the rest of the week. I got you and the paperworks.” Daesung cheered her up.
“Okay. I’m ready for tomorrow!” Dara smiled widely.
“You’re always ready when it comes to Pediatrics, Dara. Not surprised with what you just said,” Daesung grinned. “I’ll head home now. It’s getting late. See you tomorrow!”
The next morning, Dara and Daesung were the firsts to report.
“Good morning, everyone!” Daesung greeted. “We are here today to report about the case of M.B. our 15-year old male patient who came in due to rashes. History of present illness started 4 days prior to consult when the patient had high-grade fever associated with muscle and joint pains, and retroorbital pain. No consult was done and the patient self-medicated with paracetamol which only temporarily lysed the fever...... Our admitting diagnosis is Dengue Fever with Warning Signs. For the discussion
