Chapter 3
Interrogating LoveWe were sitting – under my couch blanket – watching TV. We decided to watch a funny variety tv show that always managed to make me laugh. We decided to just hangout for a while and he came back to my place and we’d talked for a while, listened to some music and now we were watching tv.
“Maybe, I should go,” he said. “It’s already eleven thirty.”
“Oh . I didn’t even realize. We didn’t even have dinner.”
“I know. It’s okay. I’m not that hungry, to be honest. You were amazing to hangout with.”
I walked him to the door and he put his hand on my neck and bent down to kiss me. I kissed him back because it didn’t feel wrong.

The next day at work was a mess. The case that I had thought was handled had gone awry. I hadn’t expected it to, at all. Of course, I didn’t have much to offer but I was asked to assign more lawyers to the case but no one good was free. The rest were still lawyers in training. I had to have a chat with Mr. Lee, the head of the firm.
“Sir, I can’t…”
“You don’t have to worry. I know the situation, Miss Noh. However, I need you to go above and beyond your duties once again. The lawyers you assigned to the case are great. I would just like you to talk to the officers and see if there’s some evidence or information that they missed. I’m pretty sure they didn’t but… I would just like to get things checked out. If there is something… then, I’d like you to be a part of the team, just for this case. And, then, you can help with the recruitment of better officers.”
“As you wish, sir. Who are the officers?”
“Well, you can’t speak to the senior inspectors on the case but there are some junior officers that you can speak to. The names are Ko Jun Hi and Sohn Hyun Woo,” he said.
I think I must’ve frozen because I heard Mr. Lee call out my name really loudly, right after. “Sorry, sir. I was just thinking about the case. I’ll follow up with them.”
He smiled. “You’re diligent, Miss Noh.”
“Thank you, sir. I don’t think it’s true. But, I thank you for the praise.”
I went to my desk and gave Jun Hi’s desk a call. I scheduled a meeting for 1PM. I decided that I could buy them lunch and talk to them. It would make the situation less awkward. But, they were busy and asked me to meet at 2PM. I assented to the offer.
I had one and a half hours to prepare myself for whatever I would have to face. I was so… why did I have to get tangled in this mess? How was it that murphy’s law was so active in my life?
I reached the spot about fifteen minutes early and waited for them.
