Dong Bang Birthday Collection!

Birthday-shot for Dong Bang Shin Ki’s maknae and baby genius, Shim Choikang [Max] Changmin. Birthday wishes to our loving DBSK’s maknae, happy 24th birthday, oppa!

I do not own Shim Changmin, Jung Yunho, Kwon Yuri, Kim Hyoyeon, Seo Joohyun or any other artist mentioned in the story. I only own the plot and the fictional characters. This is purely and only for entertainment purposes and I do not mean to tangle any rights of anyone. This story is MY idea, it being like any other story is pure coincidental. Do NOT plagiarize.

.

“No, I am not dating ‘him’, gosh, what has gotten into you?” I groaned as I tried to escape the younger girl who had been following – scratch that, stalking me ever since I had gotten out of my apartment which was ironically on the same floor as her dorm. And that was two freaking hours ago.

“But unnie, you did mention him as your ideal type, and he did say he wouldn’t mind dating you and then we did see you both inside the practice room together!” little Seohyun explained.

“Joo-ah, first thing, don’t call me unnie. I’m just older than you by less than an year. Two, I was supposed to meet Yunho oppa there, not him!” I sighed and dropped my bag onto the wood paneled floor of the SNSD practice room.

“Less than an year, but there’s a border line between January and December. But still, how do-”

“And that was weeks ago! Joo-ah, you’re also turning into one of those fan girls! It’s all Yuri unnie’s fault, stay away from her!” I grabbed the younger girl’s shoulder and shook it, in the process of also trying to shake some sense into her.

“Apparently, out sarcastic Changmin hasn’t been any sarcastic these days, Yejin-ah. Explain me that.” Both our heads turned towards the door of the practice room.

I groaned, yet again.

“You again? Can’t you leave me alone?” I whined like a little kid, resisting the urge to stomp my feet like one too. but unlike me, Seohyun welcomed the older male with open arms.

“Yunho oppa! I’m trying to convince Yejin unnie tha-”

“Just Yejin, Joo-ah. And I am not dating that sarcastic food obsessed mule!” I screeched.

“Look, stomp your feet, whine, and do all you want. Both of us know that you have that habit since you were young. And please stop using Gwangju accent here.” Yunho oppa sighed, walking up to us.

I stuck my tongue out at him. “I am never going to be able to forgive mother for giving birth to a brother like this bastard standing right next to me. How did she think I’d manage to live?” I whined, yet again, not talking to anyone in specific.

“Actually, it’s giving birth to you that she has to regret. I came out first, didn’t I?”

“I don’t give a-”

“I’ve been tolerating enough of your cursing, Jung Yejin. I hear one more curse word out of your mouth, I’m going to mummify your head with tape. And don’t think I’d get scared about your looks just because you have a drama coming up because I’ve done worse.”

That shut my mouth. When Yunho oppa says he’s going to do something, he does it. All the time. Whether it was dyeing my hair green when I was taking a nap on the ride to a photo shoot with him or writing ‘I love my oppa’ with red nail polish on my back while I was wearing a backless dress, ready to go out for a press conference.

He was the devil of devils.

So I couldn’t do much after he had said that. I just stuck my tongue out at him and dropped myself onto the floor and leaned against the mirror.

“Oppa, that’s scary..” Seohyun finally spoke up. I wasn’t looking at Yunho oppa, but I could feel this stare on me. I sighed, grabbed my bag and took out my iPod so I could begin dancing.

“Not your practice room, loving sister.” Yunho oppa pointed out.

“Not your business, loving brother.” I shot back at him immediately. I glared at him as I stood up and tried to walk away. But he caught my wrist.

“Tell me what exactly has been happening between you and Changminnie?” he asked, sitting down on the floor, dragging me down with him too.

Seohyun, more than happy to explain, sat down in front of us. Her face was almost glowing.

Not that I had anything against baby Joohyun, but my personal thoughts said that she was going way over expecting me to end up with…that thing. Chang-thing.

I mean, this girl’s face was practically glowing to tell my good for nothing brother about it. Not to mention that my brother was ‘his’ hyung. And they practically shared everything from family problems to life. No, they really did. They watch together, what can you expect?

Nothing is going on, oppa. Yuri unnie just…manipulated our Makdongie’s mind. That’s nothing going on.” I said, with venom dripping from every single word that my lips formed. Kwon Yuri…was really going to die..

“I never asked what was going on, I asked what happened. Nevermind, Joohyun-ah, what happened?” Yunho oppa, with a victorious smirk, shifted his gaze to Seohyun.

“Remember Yejin unnie – Unnie, I am not going to stop calling you unnie, you can’t change that – said that Changmin oppa was her ideal type of Strong Heart around one to two months back?” she asked. I groaned, Yunho oppa nodded his head like an obedient puppy.

“And remember when Changmin oppa said that he wouldn’t mind going out with unnie on…I think it was on an interview for a Japanese magazine last month..right?” she asked again.

“Interview in Elle Girl Japan, January 12, 2012.” I filled her in.

“A lot you know about that.” Yunho muttered with a slight smirk which I pretended I did not at all see by distracting myself at some shadow I was seeing from outside the door.

“And well..that’s it! Don’t they make the most adorablest OTP?” Seohyun sighed dramatically.

“That’s it, Kwon Yuri is as good as dead.” I growled, getting up and moving towards the door. “By the way, Makdongie, ‘adorablest’ isn’t a word.” I added.

“Strict grammar teacher..” I heard Yunho oppa mutter as I walked out.

“Hopeless hooligans..” I said, a little too loudly with a mention of scoff on my face. No offence, baby Joohyun, but Yunho oppa….

“I HEARD THAT, YOU BRAT!”

“You were supposed to!”

And now…I really should run.

.

To run away from someone, best place you need to go to is where he is. And at that moment, what Yunho oppa had forgotten was that he had to attend Strong Heart.

I smirked to myself as I lowered down my cap over to my face a little as I walked towards the second row seats in the audience side of the Strong Heart studio.

What? My manager was kind enough to help me get rid of the stupid rumors that were stacking up his mailbox at a rate of…let’s just say an extremely fast rate.

For the first time, I actually looked at my brother when I was not with him. I mean, like how I see him from distance. Sure, when I see him, I look at him, but not him. I don’t look at his expression. Say when we go to the airport to maybe leave for Japan or somewhere else, when I’d see him, I’d just see him. Then I let it go. Yunho oppa was also at the airport, there. That was it.

But this time, I actually looked at him. His expression, that is. Worried, somewhat.

Scratch that. He was worried.

Come to think of it, he’d have the same expression on his face every single time I had run away from him. He was worried?

Heh. To imagine him being worried over me. I always ran away from him. I knew no matter how much we argued that he loved me but getting worried every single time which I went missing (which was almost all the time) was not something that could happen.

I saw him walk over to Yuri with the same worried expression on his face.

Yuri unnie!

Way to catch two birds with one stone, huh?

The victorious smirk on my face was immediately erased when I saw Yuri unnie laughing at Yunho oppa who was anxiously explaining her something with his hands waving in the air and all.

Yuri unnie shook her head and I saw Yunho oppa sigh.

At that moment, I mentally cursed at my lack of ability to read lips as I saw every single movement of Yuri unnie’s lips clearly then. But I had no idea what she was saying. But from the way her face was, I could tell that she was trying to comfort Yunho oppa. In a friendly manner.

A smile tugged up the corners of Yunho oppa’s lips as he hugged her.

And then, he pecked her cheek.

Note to self : run a mission on the YunRi moments in the past one or two months. That…was just too friendly.

“Omo, YunRi?! no..” I heard a small whisper from the person next to me. I couldn’t tell who he was, or how he looked like much since he was wearing a rather comfortable looking jacket especially considering the season and shades with a cap. Did I mention his jacket’s hood was over his head?

Gosh, what was he hiding from?

“I know…It’s unbelievable, isn’t it?” I said to him, casually trying to form up a conversation.

The guy nodded. “I never expected YunRi of all SM OTPs there. YunRi. Yunho and Yuri. Aish..” he groaned.

I chuckled lightly. I mean to say ‘I never did too, it’s so unrealistic’ but realizing that if I said that, we’d be stuck in saying the same thing, I had a change in mind. “Why? Are you a Yuri fan? Heartbroken?” I asked him in a teasing tone.

“Hell no. That girl would be better off with someone like Kyuhyun. I heard they were the couple that were most worked up on SM OTPs inside the house.” He said, his tone laced in disgust at the first part and amusement following closely.

“Rather than that or YunRi, I was always more of a HyoHyuk shipper.” I grinned at him. For a moment, I had actually forgotten that I was Jung Yejin, a famous solo artist, not to mention an actress who was merely disguised as a normal person talking to a complete stranger who had managed to get my attention in statement consisting of words less than four words.

And I had actually found him interesting.

It would take several tries for even Yunho oppa to get my attention, even if it was about our baby sister Jihye. And I really lovedJihye.

I found myself waiting for him to reply as soon as I had spoken.

Much invisible under the shadows of his cap, I was sure that I caught a little smirk, if not a smile, on his face.

“I also ship HyoHyuk. What I meant to say was..Aish. I messed up. In the end, I like YunRi and KyuRi.” He said, shaking his head.

I laughed, lightly. “YunRi would also make a cute couple. Just maybe YunAra..”

“Don’t get me started that couple is meant to be!” he interrupted, interested in the topic. “In the interview for Ara-sshi’s drama, she mentioned Yunho-sshi’s help, right? To think they still call each other with ‘sshi’ at the end..”

I couldn’t help but laugh loudly. “I know! It would be a big help if Yunho oppa would stop being an and also show hints..” I said, trying to choose the correct words. Which obviously failed. Remind me not to talk to strangers about my brother like that.

“Woah, woah, woah, ? Quite a tongue.” He remarked.

“Look, sorry okay? But the thing is, when it comes to talks like this I get angry when neglecting is being obviously shown by either party. Ara unnie is being totally obvious about liking him, he is obviously neglecting her. I call present!” This time, I really did think before talking.

“I second! It’s just strange to hear a girl like you curse like that.” He said, possibly not even trying to hide the tone of amusement in his voice.

I gaped at him. “A girl like me? Look here, mister, we just talked and you can actually say ‘a girl like you’ to me? I couldn’t say you’re any better yourself. A guy talking about OTPs. That’s a rare sight.” I said, faking to sound offended.

“Aw, I offended Miss YunAra fan! Mianhae? From outside, you looked innocent and…well, innocent. Not a girl who’d curse like that.” He said.

I laughed. “Gwenchana. Just don’t judge a book by its cover. You should know better. Or maybe my expectations from you were a little too high?” I asked him, teasingly. He rolled his eyes as my cellphone beeped.

“Excuse me.” I muttered as I searched for my cellphone inside my bag. It was a text message from Yuri.

/I spy you in the audience section. With that cap, how can one not recognize you? :P

Oh yeah, exception of your brother. Worrying his skin off of where you are at. Won’t believe me when I say you’ll be fine.

Don’t worry, I didn’t tell him that I saw you in there. But I think, from the glances he’s been throwing me and at the audience, he knows you’re there.

It’s going to be the death of me if Seunggi tries to bring that up. The glances, I mean.

But that’s not what I was going to ask.

Do you know who the guy next to you is? You both seem to be having a lot of fun.

Hooking up? ;P/

It was only then that I realized the show had begun. Everyone was seated and..how did Yuri send this to me again? I searched around the set until I saw Hyoyeon unnie from the corner seat of the audience section, smirking at me.

No, she was heavily disguised but I was just able to tell her apart.

“Who is it?” the guy asked. I smiled at him.

“An unnie. Give me a moment.” I said before begening to type in.

/Hyo unnie, I know you sent me that text. If Yuri unnie told you to write that, you’re spared. If not, off with her you go.

And what the hell? He’s just a guy whom I met just now. We were peacefully talking about SM OTPs until the text. So please no more interruptions, thank you.

This is not something I can talk about this freely with a wild tiger spying over me.

Hey, notice YunRi interactions? Do not tell me that that’s true. You know I ship oppa with Ara unnie.

By the way, looks like HyoHyuk is a must to happen. I spy a monkey looking at a certain coner ;)/

“Oh, please tell me that was not Yunho oppa shooting glances at Yuri unnie?” I begged the guy, closing the phone into my palm, stealing a glance at Hyoyeon unnie who had taken Yuri unnie’s cellphone out.

“Noticed that? Looks like I win.” He smirked.

“Ah! It might be just tonight, you know.” Is aid with a sense of smug in my voice.

“Lookie who’s getting worked up. Hey, did you know that at the corner most is Hyoyeon?” he asked, motioned towards Hyoyeon unnie with his eyes.

“Is that?” I asked, trying my best to sound shocked.

“Don’t tell me you missed Eunhyuk-sshi’s glances at that corner.” He said, smirking.

“That’s one for one, mister.” I grinned, lightly pumping my fist into the air.

My cellphone beeped again. I groaned. “Annoying unnie..give me another minute.” I muttered.

/Shut up. We’ll start dating soon, you just wait.

Don’t tell me you are talking to a complete stranger. Please.

Is he also a HyoHyuk shipper?

Oh yeah, Yul told me to send it.

Aish, you’re asking me about your brother’s relationship status? You know that YunRi can never be. Not when Ara unnie is around.

And besides, Yuri would be better off with someone who is into fanfictions like her. Like Kyuhyun.

You said you were talking about SM OTPs, right? Asked him whom he thought would be best with you?/

I couldn’t help but roll my eyes. Before replying, I stole a glance at Yuri unnie who was looking directly at me. She smirked.

Dear lord, help me here..!

/You and Yuri unnie are going to be the death of me! Even dragging innocent Makdongie into this..

On that topic, we really need to talk about me and ‘him’ shipping.

And…no. but I will.

So don’t reply. I mean it, unnie../

“On the topic of SM couples, whom do you like to see with Yejin?” I asked him, putting my cellphone into a pocked in my jacket.

It wasn’t on purpose but when I caught Hyoyeon unnie from the corner of my eyes, she looked like she hit a gold filled treasure box or something.

When he didn’t reply for a moment, I even began to regret asking. I got nervous. What was he going to say?

And that was a big thing considering the first time I got nervous was when I was about to debut.

He wasn’t looking at me anymore, he was looking at the idols on the set. For a moment, I felt as if he was exchanging looks with Yunho oppa.

Impossible, right?

Nervousness was making me imagine things.

“Yejin? You mean SM’s Jung Yejin, right? The rookie solo and actress?” he asked, after a moment.

I found myself furiously nodding my head. “Yes, her.” I said.

“For her…I heard she had a preference of Japanese idols over Koreans. Do you think that’s true?” he asked.

I hesitated in answering. Looking at the set, I met Yuri unnie’s eyes. She looked as if she was expecting something.

“I also heard. But maybe not. She did say her ideal type was DBSK’s Changmin-ssi.”

Oh lord, why did I just say that? I had to bring him in there. Not to mention, I said Yunho oppa and Changmin-sshi. Awkwardness, here I come..

“Yeah. She did, didn’t she? And that was also on Strong Heart, if I remember correctly. Second week of January. If I’m not wrong, Changmin answered her through a Japanese magazine saying that he didn’t mind dating her.” he said.

“Elle Girl Japan, January 12th.” I silently said. I felt him staring at me.

“You remember the date? Must be a hardcore Changmin fan, right? But I just noticed, you used Yunho ‘oppa’ and Changmin ‘sshi’.” He said.

“I uh..am. It doesn’t feel right to call him oppa since I’m not even close to him. I might be impossible for me to get close to him, but I only want to call him oppa when I am.” I said. Wow, my lips move on their own now.

“Devoted, aren’t you? Whom do you ship Yejin with?” he asked. I felt blood rushing to my face. I had never felt that way before. I mean, even when I was asked my ideal type. I never blushed like that..

“To be honest…Yejin is a lot like me from what I’ve heard. I’d also say…she’s best off with Changmin-sshi..”

At that moment, I saw Yunho oppa fall flat on his face, slipping during a dance step.

I froze. He could not have heard.

.

“I don’t get it, why are you making such a big fuss?” I groaned as Yuri unnie and Hyoyeon unnie walked by my both sides, out of the studio.

“Well, you just told the guy that you want to be with Changmin oppa. Which you told everyone. Not to mention, you blushed! I don’t see why we shouldn’t make a big fuss! You just admitted your love for Changmin oppa!” Yuri unnie squealed.

“Thank you so much for nothing and in case you didn’t notice, I wasn’t Yejin back then. I was a normal fan.”

“A devoted Changmin fan.” Hyoyeon unnie quoted. I nudged her.

“I was merely pretending to be a fan, now give it a rest!” I begged the older girls who laughed at the statement.

“Did you even realize that Yuri told the story about why your back was wet at that press meeting you had for your coming drama?” Hyoyeon unnie asked.

No. Unnie, how could you?” I pouted as I hit her playfully.

“Apparently, not many fans noticed that your back was wet. I think the ones what noticed would be really glad to find out that it was because your brother decided to play a last minute prank on you and it was not that you did something else.” Yuri unnie said in a business like voice.

I shoved her to a side. Well, not that much, but there was a guy standing around five feet away from her so she was pushed into him. And that guy was no other than Yunho oppa.

I grabbed Yuri unnie’s wrist and pulled her back. “I am not going to tolerate any more YunRi interactions. From now on, it’s all KyuRi and YunAra. Got it?” I asked, glaring at Yunho oppa.

“I wonder why I need to have a psycho for a sister..” he muttered. I stuck my tongue out at him.

“We’re going for the drama shoot, right?” Hyoyeon unnie asked. Yunho oppa and Yuri unnie nodded.

“All five of us are in it, I don’t see why not.” He said.

“Wait, five..” and that was when I realized that Shim Changmin was standing behind Yunho oppa.

Murder me now.

.

“Hyung, I refuse. My sister is not kissing Changmin.” Yunho oppa said, persistently.

“She has to, Yunho, this is showbiz.” My manager sighed.

“But she can’t.” Yunho oppa growled.

This time, it was me who sighed.

“You’re a good actress, I witnessed myself. Why isn’t hyung letting you act in this?” Changmin asked casually, grabbing a chair and sitting down near me.

Yunho oppa and manager oppa’s voice had lowered down so it was possible that he hadn’t heard the part where I had to kiss him.

“Because we have to kiss. In the first or second episode, I think.” I said.

“Oh…why is that a problem?”

I couldn’t help but smile. Yeah, why was it?

“Oppa…is really protective.” I muttered, the smile fading from my face.

Changmin lowered his face down to he could see mine clearly. “You can talk to me, you know. Just because you said I was your ideal type and that I said I didn’t mind dating you shouldn’t make any difference.” He said.

“Are you forgetting the fact that we didn’t actually talk-talk? And that we weren’t actually when someone would call ‘friends’ even after I have been training since SNSD debuted?” I asked.

“It didn’t seem like that during Strong Heart.”

I laughed. “Hard to imagine that that was actually you. Hard to imagine we talked without even knowing it was us.” I said.

“Momentarily, I forgot that I was Shim Changmin.”

“Even I forgot that I’m ‘the’ YeJin. Only realized when Yunho oppa fell flat on his face.” I said.

We both laughed. The image was quite unforgettable.

“Confession. I didn’t really know but Kwon Yuri had planted some..thing inside my jacket through which she, Kim Hyoyeon and your brother heard every single word we exchanged.” He said.

“No wonder he fell.” I said immediately.

“Now I’m scared that something is going to happen to Yuri. Should I be?”

“Don’t worry.” I grinned.

For a second or two, still silence passed among both of us.

Awkward silence passed among us.

“Wow..it wasn’t like this during Strong Heart.” Changmin muttered.

“Then…let’s pretend we’re still in Strong Heart!” I said.

“But the topic would only make it more awkward.”

“What were we last talking about?”

“Our ideals.”

…another five seconds of awkward silence.

“I don’t think it’s something to be awkward about. I think you are my ideal type but that doesn’t mean that I like you. You said you wouldn’t mid dating me doesn’t mean you’re asking me to date you.” I finally spoke to break the silence.

However, I got no reply. Changmin was staring at something in front of him, completely lost into his own world.

“Changmin oppa?” I asked, waving a hand in front of him.

“Hu..Huh?” he said, stepping out of his trance. “What did you say?” he asked.

I smiled and shook my head. It would be better if I hadn’t said it in the first place.

“Listen, I got to go, there’s someone waiting for me. You going to be fine with Yunho hyung fighting with your manager?” he asked, standing up.

“They’ll have to end it some when.” I shrugged.

He smiled. “Alright, I’ll see you when shooting begins.” He said and gave me a quick hug before walking away.

Why did I feel my heart beat increase at that little skin ship?

My eyes went towards the direction he had left. He was hugging Jessica unnie.

I didn’t know why. First, I wanted to be with him and talk to him, then, I wanted to be left alone.

.

“You’re an idiot. Idiot.” Jessica unnie repeated over and over again.

We had filmed a little and were taking a break. Jessica unnie wasn’t filming, though. She was just hanging around. She had even brought food for us.

I sighed. “I am. But why, again?” I asked.

“It was obvious that Changmin hadn’t spaced out! He was obviously thinking about what you had said!” she said. Her voice was really loud. I think my eardrums burst.

“Thanks for the hint, but what more can I do?” I muttered, rather down. I didn’t know why. I had told her what had happened, it was usually not telling others what happens that bothered me. What was bothering me now?

“Look, Jin-ah, why did you say he was your ideal type?” she asked me.

“Because he is..”

“Why?”

“He’s..tall and sarcastic. People who are sarcastic tend to be really romantic. And more, during Strong Heart, he was easy to talk to.”

“What’s the catch?”

“He’s Yunho oppa’s well group mate. And I said that I hate him.” I muttered, feeling rather guilty.

Jessica unnie grinned. “You’re in love.”

“Thank you for pointing out the obvious..” I sighed.

“You’re sick of everyone going all crazy over it, right?” she asked softly.

“I might love him. I don’t know. I try to pretend I don’t. So that I won’t. Somehow..that doesn’t work out. So I pretend I hate him. That doesn’t work out. Now I am not pretending. That doesn’t work out either. I just wish everyone would stop making such a big deal that I said I like him and that he said he wouldn’t mind dating me. That was a month ago, maybe he has someone else now…”

“Changmin isn’t like that. Moreover, he likes you too. So just…!”

From the corner of my eyes, I spotted Changmin and Yunho oppa talking. Changmin looked like he was trying to explain but Yunho oppa looked displeased almost angry.

From the sidelines, Yuri unnie was watching. She was also frowning.

“What’s that about?” I asked Jessica unnie. She also turned to the two.

“Seems like a fight. Wait..” she muttered and walked over to them with a firm expression on her face.

As soon as Jessica unnie reached them, they stopped talking/fighting. I almost felt Jessica unnie’s firmness.

They talked. Well, she and Yunho oppa talked. Yuri unnie and Changmin were a bit away, Yul unnie comforting Changmin from what I was seeing.

This time, it seemed like Jessica unnie and Yunho oppa were fighting. I had to resist the urge of going to them.

Changmin shook his head at something Yuri unnie said and told her something and walked over towards Yunho oppa and Jessica unnie.

It was almost like hell froze over. Changmin said something and their mouths sealed shut. Three eyes (four including mine) turned towards Yunho oppa.

Yunho oppa sighed. Then he smiled. Jessica unnie and Yuri unnie squealed and jumped on top of Changmin.

Changmin looked at Yunho oppa with eyes filled with gratitude.

Okay, so Yunho oppa was getting/giving something to Changmin. So…what is he giving?

I waited and waited until Jessica unnie came. Only…she never did.

.

“Ah! Hyunbin sunbae!” I gasped as Changmin came and sat next to me on the steps of the football field where the supporters were supposed to sit.

He chuckled and cocked his head to look at me. The familiar presence of the cameras was not making it very easy for me at that moment. To act, to talk…to be with Changmin.

I turned to him and smiled. “It’s a surprise to find you here. I never thought of you as a football fan.” I said.

“Jooyeon-ah, you don’t have to call me sunbae, you know.” He said, putting his hands on the steps, and dropping his head backwards, staring into the empty night sky we saw from Seoul.

“But you are my sunbae. I’m used to it.” I said, still looking at him.

“Call me oppa. We’re friends, aren’t we?” he said, and looked at me.

“Hyunbin oppa. Happy?” I grinned. He smirked back and got back to observing the sky.

“I am a football fan.” He said after a while.

“Pardon?”

“I am a football fan. I just don’t play much. I do play with others and some hyungs every once in a while, but I’m not in the team.”

“Waeyo?”

“Because the track team needs me. The football team already has good players like Jae hyung and all..but the track team really needs me.” he explained.

“Track team? I didn’t see you there.” I said, looking as confused as I could.

“Yeah. I skipped today.” He said.

The atmosphere was getting heavy. I was getting more and more uneasy as the camera closed in.

Out of the blue, Changmin oppa stood up, picked me up bridal style and began running towards the field.

“Yah! Oppa! Let me doow--AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!” I screamed, tightening my eyes shut and holding tighter onto Changmin oppa as he jumped over steps and whatnot but by the time I was on the field with Changmin oppa grinning at me like a maniac.

“Oppa!” I pouted. “Don’t do that again!”

“Now, scared are we?” he teased and dropped onto the artificial grass.

“What if you tripped?” I muttered, but not wanting to drag the topic more, let it go as I sat down.

“The grass feels so real.” I mumbled, my fingers digging into the grass.

“That’s because it is.” Changmin oppa said and sat up.

My eyes widened by instinct. “It isn’t artificial?” I asked.

He grinned and dropped onto the grass again. “It feels really good to lie on.” He said and without a warning, grabbed my wrist and made me lie on it too.

“Ah..so comfortable!” I said. During that scene, Changmin oppa’s arms were not supposed to be around me, but at that moment, I was lying on his arm.

“Isn’t it? I like to come here every night just to stare into the empty sky. It makes my head feel empty too.” he said.

“Do you have a lot in your head?” I asked, innocently turning to him, closing in our distance.

“A lot.”

“Like what?”

“Like why the girl I like won’t like me back.”

“Oh…stuff like that..” I said, moving a bit further apart.

“I wonder why she’s so close, yet so far apart.”

“Corny, oppa. You must be in love with her.” I grinned, evilly.

“I think I am.” He sighed. “What do I do? It’s been like this since..” he trailed off.

“Corny.” I coughed violently.

“Yah!” he lightly shoved me.

“Fine, fine. Just tell me the whole story and I might be able to help.” I said, laughing.

He glared at me playfully. Then sighed. “You know that we…as in your oppa, me, Jae hyung, Sora, you and all. We’re the in circle and…whatever we do gets around in the place. Everyone knows and everyone…well knows.” He said.

“Yeah, I know. Don’t tell me you fell in love with someone outside the circle. Cliché romance!” I said, dramatically, earning a shove.

“Aish! Well…I accidentally told someone that I like this girl. And she, for fun, said she likes me back. And now we’re really close and I don’t know whether she likes me back for real or not.” He said.

“Okay. I go for long version.”

“I told your oppa that I like her. She told your oppa, she likes me too. For fun.  We see each other really frequently now. We’re like…close enough to change in front of each other. But…what I don’t know is whether she likes me or not. For real. I’ve tried to act not liking her, that didn’t work. I’ve tried to act hating her, that also didn’t work. Now I am not acting…that also doesn’t work.” He sighed.

My heart beat increased by GOD knows how much. It felt as if it was ready to leap out of my chest. Where have I heard that line before..?

“Have you tried confessing?” I asked him, carefully.

“We even talked about ‘us’ but…it got nowhere. She spaced out and left.” He said.

I have not read this part of the script. It was a lot like what had happened when..

“Maybe she left because she was too scared. She was scared that now that you got close you might have moved on..” I caught myself at that. Was that what happened to him?

“I don’t want everyone to fuss over it as if it is a big deal. I just want it between us. But if I don’t tell anyone my head gets really heavy. That’s why I come here.” He said.

Okay, back to the original dialogue.

“Well, oppa.” I said, getting up on my feet. “From now on, you can come to talk to me. I’ll be your personal living diary! Only you have the key to open this diary.” I said, proudly patting my chest, grinning.

We got caught in each other’s eyes for a moment. He decided to end it. “Well, diary. Where are you going?” he asked.

“Home. Oppa will be getting worried.” I said.

“I thought you were angry at him. You know about you and Jae hyung.” He said.

Wow, I was angry at Yunho oppa about Changmin oppa and me. Who wrote the screenplay?!

“Well…He’s still my oppa and I love him. Even if…he dyes my hair green right before I get out of the car to go to school. Without me knowing.” I said.

Grinning, Changmin oppa stood up, laced his finger with mine as we walked out of the stadium.

“And…CUT! That’s a wrap!” the director shouted.

In exactly three seconds, three bodies over overly heavy females were on top of me, with myself on the ground.

“Jung Jessica..” I growled.

“I couldn’t help it. I had to get Yuri to swap with you! Now you know how you both feel, right?” Jessica unnie grinned, getting up.

“Someone help me up..” I muttered lazily, raising my hand.

“Get up yourself. Really, I can’t believe you are a female. So lazy…” Yunho oppa scoffed. “Do you really love me if I dye your hair green? Should I do it tonight?” he asked.

“I’ll make you bald!” I shot back at him.

There I was, on the ground, arguing with Yunho oppa who was standing. But what I knew next was that I was on Changmin oppa’s shoulder and sticking my tongue out at a very flabbergasted Yunho oppa, Yuri unnie, Hyoyeon unnie and Jessica unnie.

“…SHIM CHANGMIN, HOW DARE YOU KIDNAP MY SISTER, BRING HER BACK YOU FOOD ADDICTED MULE!”

.

“You never told me it was your birthday!” I said as I walked with him to the skating rink with the rented skates in our hands.

“Well…I never got the chance. We only became friends today.” Changmin oppa said, swinging our held hands forward and backwards like two little kids.

I didn’t know how to reply to that so I just kept swinging my hand in the same motion as him.

“I’m pretty glad though..” I heard him mutter. I was probably not supposed to hear that so I tried my best to ignore that he had said it. But for some strange reason, my heart just throbbed faster.

It was only when we got on the ice that I realized it. Changmin was a prodigy in skating. No pun intended. This guy could even face Kim Yuna and beat her elegantly in skating.

He looked so free at that. Not that he was caged or anything before, but he looked as if he had been freed by a lot of thing which he had been trying to escape.

I could only stay at the sidelines and watch. I wasn’t a skater, that was Yunho oppa’s thing. No wait…he also couldn’t skate.

“Yejin-ah! What are you waiting for!” Changmin oppa called from the rink.

I smiled at him as he skated over to me. “I can’t skate, oppa. And I really don’t want to fall flat on my face.” I said. In my head, though, I added, not in front of you, that is.

“I’ll teach you.” He grinned, and grabbed my hand, leading me onto the ice. Strangely, it felt really good. I don’t know what, being on the ice or being with Changmin oppa. My head felt lighter in some way.

“Oppa, do you mind if I ask you something?” I asked as he lead me on the ice.

“Go on. Try to skate on your own.” He said letting go. And I froze. I just stood there without another movement. Lips or legs.

Changmin oppa laughed. “Just move forward, I’m here to catch you in case you fall. You don’t have to be scared, Yejin-ah.” He said.

I looked at him. He was laughing but somehow, I felt his words genuine. Trusting him, slowly I moved my legs forward. Stiff like a robot. I knew Changmin oppa was trying hard to hold in his laughter.

With just a little bit bigger movement than before, I felt myself lose my balance and head towards the ice. Only, one muscular arm was blocking the colliding.

“Kamsahamnida.” I said as Changmin oppa helped me back onto my feet. He grinned and waited. Oh God, he also knew. I couldn’t help it.

“WAAAAAAAAAAH. I CAN’T DO THIS. I’M A FAILURE.” I wailed. Only this time Changmin didn’t laugh. He just sat on the ice with his legs crossed.

“Me too..” he muttered. Curious as I was, I couldn’t help but sit down next to him.

“What is it, oppa?” I asked him.

“Got rejected today.” He said.

I wasn’t able to reply to that. He liked another girl? I was pretty sure I didn’t reject him…

“That girl lost a lot, then…”  I muttered, mentally killing the girl. I had no idea when I had gotten so attached to him.

“Say, you never answered who you thought would look best with me when I asked you so in Strong Heart, did you?” I said, all of a sudden. If I remembered correctly, what he said was that I had a preference over Japanese idols.

“Yeah. I didn’t.”

“Well…”

Moments passed. No answer came.

“It would be awkward if I tell you after you rejected me.” he said.

“Oh. Okay then----BWOH? WHEN DID I REJECT YOU?!” I didn’t intend to yell at him but WHEN THE HELL DID I REJECT HIM?!

Changmin oppa burst out laughing. “You indirectly rejected me, remember? You said just because you said I’m your ideal doesn’t mean that you like me-”

“I am really naïve, now that I realize that, but that wasn’t in any intention of rejecting you! I mean, I never even thought that you might even think of me that way! I-”

“Even when I said I wouldn’t mind dating you?”

“YES. I don’t think like oppa does and I used to love that now I’m beginning to hate the fact since you are saying that you indirectly confessed to…wait  a minute, you didn’t even confess to me! You just said we were talking about ‘us’.” I said, looking at him, accusingly.

He grinned. “Well, now that you aren’t that naïve, I guess I can say that I think Super Junior’s Kibum would look best with you but despite the fact that he’s still my best friend, I’d knock him out of the way and take his place next to you and tell you that I love you.” He said.

“Kibum oppa and m—wait, repeat that last sentence.” I said, actually catching on.

“That was only one sentence.”

I couldn’t help it. I also grinned. “Pabo.” I said, flicking my index finger at his forehead. “Ssaengil chukkhamnida! Let’s go celebrate!” I said, getting on my feet, forgetting the fact that I was still on ice.

Changmin oppa also stood up. “Four little words can make my wish come true tonight, Yejin-ah.” He said.

I turned to him and smiled. “I love you toooo--AH!” Just as I moved forward to tell him that, I slipped again.

“Dear Lord, help me..” I muttered as Changmin oppa helped me stand nicely again. I heard him chuckle, nothing more.  The next moment, his lips were on mine.

For a moment, felt a jolt of electricity run through my whole body. True, I wasn’t a fan of these corny and cliché lines but that was how I felt. Serious.

I closed my eyes and let myself lose into the kiss and his arms and his lips and everything about him. And I thought it was his birthday. My birthday wish had even come true.

“Naïve Jung.” He muttered, breaking apart. I stuck my tongue out at him.

“Let’s just go celebrate your birthday with everyone else. Though, I keep wondering how long we can keep this from them.” I said, thoughtfully.

“Like I care.” And then, we were both, once again, enjoying a passionate kiss on the ice. All thanks to Strong Heart.
