When I signed up for an Airbnb at Suzy’s place, her accommodation promised a breath-taking seaside view with unique interior that would put other options in the same price range to shame. Towels, hair dryer and most importantly, Wifi were also freely available along with access to the kitchen. So when I woke up this morning to soothing rays of the sun soaking me I still had the illusion I had caught a very good deal to go to paradise. That was, until a faint knock on my door reminded me that I was not alone in the place, as I was promised. Instinctively I grabbed my blanket and covered myself, as if it was in anyway a good shield or camouflage tool. Images of last night’s events started replaying in my head like a sequence reel that she had finally mentally dug out. I reluctantly crawled out of the extremely comfortable bed and it was only when I opened my door did a host of things hit my senses. The soothing daylight. The sound of sizzling eggs in the kitchen. The smell of freshly squeezed lemons. Oh, lemons. Byun Baekhyun. Photographer and potential fellow victim of attractive cheating partner. Who came up with the ludicrous idea last night to stalk his girlfriend for confirmation and had shamelessly asked me, a heartbroken woman on her healing trip and had paid to stay here, to do it on his behalf. I grunted at the prospects of how I was going to achieve this monumental task which I had no idea how to begin, let alone accomplished. A well-rested Byun Baekhyun stuck his head out of the kitchen and greeted me with a boxed smile. His sing-song voice told me that there was no way I could back out of this plan now. “Good morning! Breakfast is ready!” I made a low disgruntled acknowledgement, making my way to the washroom to wash up. I wasn’t that familiar with this guy to show him the full extent of my morning look yet. Something about his extended told me he was going to comment on my pyjamas – a full set of Kakao characters print. The idea that I was staying with a male that was neither a complete stranger nor close one dawned on me as I examined my dreadful bed hair in the mirror. Granted despite his various reminders, warnings and restrictions, Baekhyun did not actually kick me out of him room for the duration of his stay. Instead he’d found the house keys to access the other available guest room in the apartment. A part of me wondered why he didn’t just enter Suzy’s room to get the answers he wanted or the evidence he needed, but I supposed he must have had his reasons. Breakfast was a wonderful spread of egg toast, freshly squeezed lemonade and cut fruits. I prodded at the food with my fork tentatively before putting a bite-sized piece of egg and bread into my mouth, and instantly the food redeemed some points for Baekhyun, after all the nonsense that happened last night. “It’s good.” I didn’t want to let him know how satisfied I was. He gave me another toothy grin. “Suzy always liked-” When his words were cut short, I looked up immediately to see him moodily poke his breakfast. The thought of Suzy must have upset him immensely. “You know, you could always just text her and cut your own misery short,” I said out of nowhere, “I think part of my failure was that I didn’t to him about the problem between us. If we had talked about what was wrong, she wouldn’t have stood a chance.” To my surprise, Baekhyun’s shoulders slumped at the suggestion and he shook his head with a sort of defeat. “Her messages to me for the past few months have been the very source of my problem, rather than the solution.” It seemed that with the spotty Wifi in the country that Baekhyun was in, the photographer had no choice but to send messages only at long intervals. Despite that, he’d made sure to capitalise on whatever signal he had to contact Suzy as much as possible, yet her responses had been scarce and lukewarm. “Maybe she’s busy,” I offered lamely, chewing on the last mouth of my delicious toast. “And taking photographs in the middle of the warzone makes me very free,” he said sarcastically, “I would text her when I have no connection just so that all of them would get through when there actually is one. She sends me the same message every now and then; ‘heading off to work’, ‘been busy with work’, but her Shapchat suggests otherwise.” He mumbled something bitterly under his breath before finishing his own food. I followed soon after. “You’re a good cook,” I figured he could do with a small mood lifter. I regretted immediately. Now he wouldn’t shut his trap about how to make perfect eggs for the morning. -♥- Baekhyun’s glow from the morning’s compliment was short-lived when the sound of keys in the front door hit our ears. The supposedly rightful owner of this apartment scrambled to his feet and rushed to the extra guestroom. That was, after he wrapped my head in an extremely ugly scarf he bought without proper consideration overseas and a huge pair of sunglasses that he had randomly grabbed from his own luggage. Without having to look in the mirror, I knew I looked like an abused victim trying to hide her bruises from her visiting Airbnb host. I had no idea why I did not tear off the lousy disguise immediately, because Dongwook looked as if he was swallowing some words out of courtesy when he saw me. “Er, hi Jisoo-sshi. I’m Dongwook. I believe Suzy mentioned that I would be dropping by?” I nodded haphazardly, trying hard not to look suspicious as I scanned

Chapter 5: I subscribed to this a long time ago actually, with another account and I didn't finish reading it because I wasn't really ready to read about the heartbreak and all. But yeah, damn it stings. Although, in the end I can understand why OC did that for Baekhyun like she said, it may help at least lessen the pain for him but I guess Baekhyun had already don't that for himself after years of doubt and uncertainty in his ldr. Overall, it was a realistically sweet story although quite bittersweet at first but it ended nicely. Great job! hehe
