Night
Last LightAt midnight Taekwoon crept to Wonsik's room and woke him.
'Taek?' Wonsik gasped. 'What are you doing here?'
Taekwoon shushed him. 'You have one more chance. Tonight, you have one more chance to be with me. I want to talk to you.'
'Can I touch you?' Wonsik asked shyly.
Taekwoon let out a deep sigh. 'Yes.'
Very carefully, Wonsik put his hand up and brushed a strand of Taek's dark hair out of his face. 'When I said you looked beautiful, I wasn't just being cheesy, i meant it. You look amazing...still.'
'You do too.'
They sat for a moment in silence.
Then something inside of Taekwoon snapped. He took Wonsik's face between his hands and kissed him, hard, letting the six years slip away like nothing. There was nothing sweet, nothing happy, about this kiss. It was angry and heartbroken and painful. Taekwoon kissed Wonsik like he loved him, but hated that he did. Like he loved him, but didn't want to.
Wonsik kissed him back. He didn't know why Taekwoon was angry at him, but he didn't care. This might be his last chance to kiss him. He would not miss it.
Finally, they pulled away, gasping for air. Taekwoon's lips were swollen and red, and Wonsik loved the fact that HE could do this, HE could make Taekwoon look like this. He was the only one who could.
'Jung Taekwoon, why do you hate me?'
'Jongup told me this would be better,' Taekwoon burst out. 'He told me that loving someone too different would only bring heartbreak. They would eventually leave, or reject you, just like....' he swallowed. 'Just like Zelo rejected him.'
Jongup loved Zelo.
Jongup was ALIVE.
'Jongup- loves ZELO? Isn't Zelo his brother?'
'Jongup,' Taekwoon said quietly, 'is an only child.'
'What?' Jongup had told Wonsik years ago that he had a brother.
'Zelo is not his blood brother.'
Finally, Jongup's escape made sense. He had run away because he had fallen for someone he couldn't have.
He had fallen in love with his adopted brother. And Zelo had rejected him.
Taekwoon had been afraid Wonsik would do the same.
'I'll never leave you,' Wonsik promised. 'Not ever.'
