Castle walls rise out of the darkness, they are pitted and despairing, no longer the bastions of protection and glory they’d once claimed to be. Minhyun hurries along the wall his bare feet slapping the cold stone floor. A chill seeps from the soles of his feet and wrap Minhyun in a comforting embrace. The cold managed to call him some. He halts when he gets to the corner of the long wall, backing up until his back is against the rocks. He peaks around the corner, the valley is empty but it could just be a trick of the light. Thanks to him the humans had been able to acquire a set of skills that disguised them from supernatural creatures like himself. He could see now that had been a great mistake; the second biggest mistake of his long life. The first was falling in love with a human. Thanks to that affair they had conceived the baby that now lay in his arms and this child would be then end of their era, which is why they were being hunted. Under his fingers the stone is rough and icy. It leaves his skin cold, drawing a welcomed feeling into his bones. The wall stretches away, disappearing into pitch black shadows  in every direction. The light of the moon barely illuminates his surroundings, it was like a feeling that's difficult to get a grasp on. Minhyun is a tempted to hunker down in the dark corner, to stow myself behind the narrow window and wait out the hunters. Surely they would get tired of looking for them, they were human, there stamina couldn’t compare to his. But he couldn’t risk it. Not when he knew the humans were ready to seek him to the ends of the earth. They were hunting for blood; his, and his childs. Minhyun couldn’t stay here much longer. He crept forward deciding he’d follow the river that lay just beyond the line of trees ahead. He wouldn't have the cover of darkness in the trees, but perhaps the humans lack of agility and stamina would hinder their chase. All he needed was to get enough distance between them so that he could hide his son and lead the hunters away from him. The small bundle in his arms fidgets and ques, Minhyun glances down to meet the large doe eyes of the two week old. The baby whimpers and Minhyun knows it is a matter of time before he begins to sob and he can’t let that happen. His cry will summon the humans and then they’d both die. How quickly had his dreams of the running away become a nightmare. He and the baby’s mother had planned it for so long they’d been sure it would have gone off without a hitch. He should have known they wouldn’t have gotten away with it. The humans treated their royals like gods and being the queen guaranteed she was always in the spotlight. Even so, they’d never expected any of this to happen, they never believed she would get pregnant, never believed the kingdom would turn on him, never believed the king would have her killed.
