Sana was studying at night when her watch sounded, alerting her that it was already 12 midnight. She got her watch and that’s when she noticed, it was already December.

Sana stood up and went to her calendar then turn the page. She looked at it for a while and sighed.

Every December, when I flip the calendar, the unknown emptiness starts

“Another Christmas without her…” Sana muttered as she felt the loneliness around her room “Oh, well.” she added before going back to her study and pretended that it wasn’t December already

Even though I pretend that I don't know

Sana’s phone suddenly ringed so she got it and when she opened it, she can’t pretend it wasn’t December anymore because it was. And she can’t pretend that she doesn’t miss the girl in her wallpaper, who is also calling her right now.

“Hey, babe.” Sana greeted through the phone

(Hey…It’s already December there, right?)

“It is. 25 more days till Christmas and 25 more days till our anniversary. But…you’re still not here.”

(I’m sorry, Sana unnie.)

“It’s fine, Tzu. I understand. We can still videocall each other on the 25th, right?”

(Yeah, let’s do that. Are you still studying? You should sleep now, unnie.)

“Later. I’m still doing my assignments. I wish I’m a genius like you so I can go there in America too.”

Tzuyu chuckled through the phone and Sana’s sadness all went away (You’re perfect the way you are, unnie. I love you, that way. From your cutie-iness down to your clumsiness…I love it all. You don’t need to change, alright?)

Sana couldn’t help but smile as she nods her head “Alright, alright. I’ll sleep now. Can I talk to you tomorrow? Are you busy?”

(I am busy but… I’ll give time for you. I’ll call you tomorrow. For now, you should sleep.)

“I will. Goodnight, Tzuyu. I love you.”

(Goodnight. I love you too, babe.)

The next day, people were already decorating the school for the upcoming Christmas party. Everyone was talking about having a date on Christmas Eve so Sana tried to ignore them again. She doesn’t want to feel sad that Tzuyu wasn’t there to be her date. So she pretended again that this wasn’t happening

“Hey, Sana.” Nayeon greeted as she sat beside Sana in the class “Is Tzuyu coming home for Christmas?”

“Unfortunately, no.” Sana answered with a sigh “How about Jeongyeon unnie? Is she coming?”

Nayeon is Sana’s friend who also the same as her. Her girlfriend, Yoo Jeongyeon, which is a math genius was also in the America for the math scholarship.

“She said she’ll try but you know her, even though she said she’ll try…it still wouldn’t happen.”

“Well…one thing happened.”

“What?”

“Remember when she said that she’ll try to get your ‘yes’? It happened, right? You two got together.”

Nayeon chuckled and nod her head “Yeah…Let’s just hope that this will happen too.”

Two girls approached them and have a seat infront of their chairs then turned around to face them.

“Hey, Nayeon unnie. Hey, Sana unnie.” Dahyun greeted “What are you talking about?”

“Our girlfriends. By the way, is Chaeyoung coming home this December?”

“Chaeyoung?” Dahyun repeated then scoffed “She’s too busy to even contact me so I doubt she’ll come home. Why, though?”

“It’s because everyone is talking about their dates in Christmas Eve.” Momo answered “Unfortunately for us, our girlfriends are geniuses. That means…another lonely Christmas without them.”

Dahyun and Momo were also in the same boat as Nayeon and Sana. Chaeyoung, Dahyun’s girlfriend, is in America for the art scholarship while Mina, Momo’s girlfriend, is there for the academic scholarship.

“Yeah, let’s not talk about that. It will only sadden us.” Sana said to calm them

“Why are you so calm about this, Sana? It’s Christmas and your anniversary.”

“I’m not calm, unnie. I’m pretending to be calm but I’m not calm inside. Now, let’s not talk about not having a date because I don’t want another thing to remind me that Tzuyu isn’t here.”

Even though I pretend to stay calm, I won't be able to stay calm

“O-Okay…” Nayeon answered and faced the professor, who just arrived

Weeks passed until it was already December 24. Sana, Nayeon, Momo and Dahyun decided to have a Christmas party instead of going home to their family because Sana and Momo’s family were in Japan while Dahyun were in Gyeonggi-do. It was a hassle so they decided to stay in Seoul for Christmas.

‘A few more hours till December 25.’ Sana thought as she look at the clock in Nayeon’s apartment

“Sana, where did you put the groceries?” Nayeon shouted through the kitchen

Sana went to the kitchen and decided to help them cook for the Christmas party. It was already 10PM that they were able to finish cooking because all of them doesn’t know how to cook. They failed a couple times so it was a little late before they managed to cook perfectly.

They placed the food in the table and started to sit in the table. That’s when they realized that they still haven’t decorated the whole place.

“Damn it.” Nayeon muttered as they hurriedly got the Christmas decors and started decorating

After a lot of minutes, the decorations was done. They were now putting up the Christmas tree but Sana accidentally made a mistake so the tree fell down and they decorated again. After another lot of minutes, they were officially done.

“Look at the time.” Dahyun stated “It’s already 11:30. Let’s eat fast so we can still do the countdown.”

“That’s right, that’s right.” the others muttered and then they started to eat

After they ate, it was almost 12 midnight so they gathered in the living room where the snacks and desserts awaits together with their television that have a Christmas movie waiting after the countdown.

“11:59:50. Let’s start…” Nayeon announced “10…9…8…7…6…”

The doorbell rang so Sana immediately stood up to open it while counting together with the others.

“5…4…3…” Sana counted as she open the door “…2…1…”

“Merry Christmas.” Tzuyu greeted with a smile “And Happy Anniversary, babe.”

The girls in the living room shouted, not because it was finally Christmas, but because Tzuyu was there.

But you are here, this winter is different

“T-Tzuyu? What are you doing here?” Sana stuttered as her eyes widened

“It’s the 25th. I missed this last year, I’m not going to missed this again.” Tzuyu said and grabbed Sana outside then kissed her under the mistletoe

The others couldn’t help but smile at them. They were happy that Tzuyu was able to make it for Sana.

“I can’t believe you made it, though. I thought you’re busy.”

“I am busy but… I’ll always give time for you, remember?”

Sana smiled as she hugged Tzuyu tightly “I miss you so much.”

“I miss you too, unnie. So…so much.” Tzuyu said as she hug Sana back

The wind hit the carols hanging in the front porch, making it sounded. However, it doesn’t sadden Sana anymore…because Tzuyu is there with her.

The carol sounded, it won't make me cry

She’s finally there for Sana so the carols doesn’t make Sana cry now. It was Tzuyu’s appearance that made her cry.

“Hey, hey. Don’t cry, babe. I’m here now, okay?” Tzuyu said as she broke the hug to wipe Sana’s tears

Sana nod her head and hugged Tzuyu again, causing for Tzuyu to chuckle.

“Let’s go inside. It’s freezing out here. I don’t want you to have a cold.” Tzuyu muttered then carried Sana inside the house and towards the living room “Hey, unnies. I’m back.”

“Chou Tzu, welcome back!” they all greeted to Tzuyu with a smile

They were going to hug Tzuyu but Sana was still clinging into her so they choose to wait later.

“Oh by the way, I brought some presents for you.” Tzuyu stated and pointed the door “They’re coming.”

Their eyes went to the door and after a few seconds, they saw some familiar faces.

I also like Christmas now

“J-Jeongyeon?” Nayeon muttered

Momo immediately stood up and went to hug Mina “I miss you so much, Mitang.”

Mina chuckled before she hug Momo back “I miss you too, Moguri.”

“I’m going to give you some space.” Jeongyeon stated then she entered and walked towards Nayeon “I tried…and made it. Are you proud of me?” she asked to the bunny with a smile

Nayeon immediately burst into tears upon seeing Jeongyeon infront of her while Jeongyeon chuckled then crouched down to hug the crybaby and to stop her from crying. All was now okay but then they noticed…Chaeyoung wasn’t there.

“W-Where’s Chaeyoung?” Nayeon asked as she wipes her tears “Didn’t she come home with you?”

“She…didn’t.” Jeongyeon answered hesitantly “She has to finish some paperworks in America so she wasn’t able to come with us in our flight.” she added “However, she told me she’ll come…for Dahyun.”

Dahyun smiled but it doesn’t reached her eyes “I’ll hold unto that. But for now, let’s celebrate that you’re here. I’m going to buy some drinks.” she said and stood up then walked to the door
