Jessica Jung is a daughter of single mother Stephanie Hwang or known as Tiffany Hwang. She is 15 years old. She stayed with her mom at Seoul. Her parent divorced when she is 5 years old. Jessica study at Seoul High School and every day her mom drive her go and back from school. They are happy together and Jessica never complain about don’t have her father around because her mom told her that they are divorced but she never talk more about that.

The girl with name tag ‘Jessica Jung’ walk to the school gate with her friends after their class end. From afar she can see her mom car and she bid goodbye to her friends as they reach the school gate.

Seeing her daughter skipped to her car, Tiffany unlock the door and they smile to each other when Jessica get inside the car

“Hi mommy, sorry make you wait” Jessica pecks her mom cheek

“It’s ok baby, mommy arrived 5 minutes ago so it’s not that long” Tiffany beamed happily while staring at her daughter angelic face

“Ok mommy”

“Shall we go now?”

Jessica nods vigorously “Sure, I’m sleepy mommy” Jessica faked yawned and her mom pinched her cheek

“My sleepyhead baby never changes” Tiffany shook her head lightly

“You always said I must be myself”

“True but make sure what we do accepted by people around us”

“Ok mommy, I remember”

“Good girl, let go” Tiffany maneuvered her car and leave the school

Both of them watching drama after have dinner. Jessica not focused with the drama that aired on TV because she thought about something that played in her mind since few days ago. She want to ask her mom about that but she worry at how that woman will react if she brings up the topic

“Baby?” Tiffany waving her hand in front of her daughter because the girl zoning out since God know when

“Y-yes mommy” Jessica startled

Tiffany frowned “Why you space out? Are you ok?”

“I-I’m ok mommy” Jessica grin nervously

“Are you sure?” Tiffany narrowed her eyes

“Yes mommy, I just thinking about our science project that teacher said yesterday”

Tiffany nods her head “Ok then” they continue watching drama

Saturday morning

Tiffany knocking her daughter’s bedroom door to wake her for breakfast. It’s hard to wake up that girl since she’s queen of sleep

“JESSICA JUNG WAKE UP” Tiffany shouted loudly and she can hear loud thud from inside, probably Jessica fall down from the bed due to shock by her mom voice

“Yes mommy, I’m up now” Jessica answer while rubbed her

“Wash up now and come down for breakfast”

“Ok” Jessica stand up from the floor and tidy up her bed “Mommy so loud” she said to no one in particular

15 minutes later, Jessica goes to dining table after refresh herself. Tiffany prepare simple breakfast since they not eat a lot

“Good morning mommy” Jessica said lazily and her mom reply with nods since still full with food

“Have your breakfast” Tiffany said while sipped her coffee

“Ok” they enjoy their breakfast silently since Tiffany set a rule that don’t talk at dining table unless it was urgent matter

After finish dinner, Jessica decides to talk with her mom about something that makes her really curious. She don’t want to keep it anymore

“Mommy, are you busy today?” she asked

“No, why? You want to go somewhere?” Tiffany looking at her daughter lovingly

“No, I want to talk about something with you”

“Ok, what is it?”

“Em, I think we should talk at living room”

“Alright, clean all this first” Tiffany said and they clean the dishes

They settle at living room after finish cleaning. Tiffany wondered why her daughter suddenly looked serious and nervous at the same time. Her motherly instinct said that Jessica have something important that she hide lately

“Mommy” Jessica breaks the silence

“Yes dear”

“I want to ask something important but don’t angry later, ok?” Jessica plead with her puppy eyes

“Depends on the question” Tiffany said jokingly

“Mommy, please”

“Alright, what is it?”

“I want to ask about daddy” Jessica stated nervously

Tiffany quite shocked by the question but she act cool. She know sooner or later her daughter will ask about her father and she also ready for that since her daughter growing up

“What is it?” she sits comfortably on the couch

Jessica silence for a while “Why are you divorced with daddy?”

Tiffany smile and caressed her daughter cheek “Because daddy don’t love mommy anymore”

Jessica lips corner tugged downwards “Why daddy don’t love you? He doesn’t love me too?”

“He don’t love mommy because he have new wife and kids but he always love you”

“Why he never come to see me now?”

Tiffany sighs “Maybe daddy is busy with work”

“How did you know that daddy have new wife? He told you?”

“I found him cheating. You know daddy is businessman so he always travels here and there so it leads him meet with his wife. They getting close to each other and secretly dating. That woman pregnant and he marry her without telling mommy. He use business trip as excuse to visit his second wife since she stayed at America that time. At the same year, mommy pregnant of you and daddy change for short while. He always stays at home and takes care of mommy like there is nothing happen between us. Like other dads in the world, he also happy when you born. When you’re 2 years old, mommy accidentally read his text with his wife and mommy asked him immediately. He told me everything and he confessed everything that happened behind my back. If not for you, I thing I killed myself already because I never imagine the man that I love dearly deceive me mercilessly. I still don’t want to surrender because I really love him; I just let him have his second wife. I don’t want him to hate me just because I force him to divorce his wife. Years after years, he keeps changing and he neglected us. I know he force himself to come home to us, I can see from his face. Even he’s with us but his mind and heart is with his new family. I can’t bear to see him suffer so I ask him to divorce me. I don’t want him to force himself to give his love to us. At first he don’t want to divorce because he know I love him and you need him but I assure him that things will be ok so everything end between us” Tiffany talk while sobbing lightly

Jessica suddenly feels guilty for asking that question “Mommy, I’m sorry. I don’t mean to ask that question. I’m really sorry mommy” she cooed and hugging her mom

“It’s ok baby. You have right to know what happen at our family”

“Mommy, don’t cry” Jessica wipe her mom tears

“Ok baby” Tiffany smile and hugging her daughter tightly

After the situation calm again, Jessica speak “Mom, why you not change my surname to Hwang?”

“Because you’re Jung and you’re the one and only precious memory that your dad leaved for me. If I change your name, there wills nothing for me to remember him” Jessica nods understand

“Mommy”

“Yup”

“Do you still love daddy?”

Tiffany chuckled “Can you change question?” she laughed lightly

“Sorry mommy”

“It’s ok”

Jessica suddenly hugging her mom again and she buried her face to her mom chest “Mommy, I love you”

“I love you too baby” Tiffany kissed her daughter forehead

‘You’re strong woman I ever know mom. I’ll protect you until the end’ Jessica taught while embracing her mom

Jessica walked out of music room after their club activity end. When she almost enters her class, someone tapped her shoulder and she turned around. That is a girl from next class that same grade as her and new member of their music club. The girl smile widely

“Hi”

“Hi” Jessica smile back

“Can we talk for a while?”

Jessica checking her watch and it was still early for her mom to fetch her so she agree with the girl invitation “Ok but I want to get my bag first”

“Sure, go ahead”

Jessica go to her class and grabbed her bag then she go out again after bid goodbye at her friend that are still inside the class

“Where are we going?” she asked

“Let go to the canteen” the girl said and they walk to school canteen

After order their drink, both of them take a seat at the corner. The canteen is not really crowded because some of the students are still with their club activities

“You’re Jessica Jung, right?”

Jessica nods “Yea, you?” even their teacher introduced the newcomer earlier but she don’t remember her because she don’t really care about people other than her close friends and her mom

“I am Katy Jung or Jung Yeri”

“Oh I see”

“Actually I have something to talk with you”

“What is it?”

“I want to bring you to see someone”

Jessica frown “Who is it?”

“My father, Krys Jung”

“Krys Jung?” Jessica gasped as she hear the familiar name that Yeri mentioned

“Yes, he wanted to see you this Saturday at Dream Café”

“W-why your father wants to see me?” Jessica panic

Yeri shrugged her shoulder “I don’t know. He just ask me to inform this to you”

“Ok”

“Don’t worry, my father is good person and I’ll join him to meet you too” Yeri said happily

“Ok then” Jessica phone vibrate in her pocket and she got message from her mom saying that she arrived to pick her

“I have to go now. My mom is arrive”

“Ok, see you this Saturday” Yeri said

“Alright”

Jessica walk quickly to car park where her mom waiting for her and she slightly panting when enter the car

“Baby, why you panting? Are you running?” Tiffany chuckled seeing her daughter condition

“Mommy, it is so urgent mommy. It’s urgent” Jessica grasped her mom wrist

Tiffany furrowed her eyebrows “What is urgent? Calm down first”

Jessica took deep breath before talking again “Daddy want to meet me this Saturday”

Tiffany eyes widened “What? Really!”

“Yes mom, daddy wanted to see me”

“Who tell you? He came here?”

“No, a new girl from next class told me. I think that is his daughter because her name is Katy Jung”

“Wow, he finally show up after years leaving you behind to chase his happiness. What a shameless man” Tiffany snort

“Mommy, shall I meet him or just reject it?”

Tiffany silent for a while “Just goes see him. At least you know why he suddenly comes out”

Next Saturday, Tiffany drives her daughter to the place where she wanted to meet her father. Jessica looked so nervous and she not talking along the way to the café

“Why do you suddenly silent?” Tiffany asked

“Nervous”

“Aigoo, are you going for a date?” Tiffany teasing her daughter

“Mom~” Jessica whine and her mom laughed at her

“We’re here” Tiffany announce as she pull off in front of the café

“Mommy, I really nervous”

Tiffany cupped Jessica face “Relax and talk to daddy, ok? Isn’t this what you want to do since before?” Jessica nods slowly “So this is the time you bond with daddy even his family is around”

“Ok mommy”

“Good, that’s my baby. If you’re done, just call me. I’m at aunty Yul restaurant”

“Ok”

Tiffany peck Jessica forehead “Now go”

“See you later mommy”

“Ok” after Jessica enter the café, Tiffany leave to her friend restaurant

Jessica takes few minutes stand in front of the café. She thinking either to go in or just leave. It’s not that she don’t want to meet her father but it so awkward seeing him after almost 8 years separated. After negotiate with her feeling, finally she decide to enter. She opened the door slowly and she can saw Katy and her father at one of the tables. There is a woman with them that Jessica assumed as Katy’s mother. She lazily walked to their table and as she walked past few tables, she heard Katy calling her name

“Jessica” Katy waving happily and her father turn around

“Hi” Jessica said awkwardly. She noticed her father staring at her but she doing her best ignores him. She don’t know why she not excited seeing her father, maybe cause by she used to only close to her mom since back then

“Jung Sooyeon” her father said with shaky voice and stand in front of Jessica with teary eyes

“Yes, I am” Jessica said coolly. From first time she saw her father face, she noticed that their face resemble each other but Katy is really different from him. She more likes her mother. No single similarity with her father

“Papa, you know her well?” Katy questioned curiously. She really shocked when her father know Jessica Korean name, she herself never know it. Krys and his wife sighs but they ignore their daughter question

Krys hugging his daughter and kiss her forehead “How is you?”

“I’m perfectly fine” Jessica said

“Have a seat” then Jessica sit beside her father

“Kat, papa have something to tell you and papa hope that you don’t mad” Krys said softly

“Ok”

“Jessica is my daughter with Stephanie Hwang”

“Really?” Katy excitedly said

“Yes, she is my first wife but maybe we’re not meant to be so our marriage failed” Krys said while Jessica silently rolled her eyes

‘If you’re not ert, we still together until today’ Jessica said in her mind

“Jessica, this is my daughter, Katy Jung and that is her mom, Kim Taeyeon” Krys introduced his family and Jessica forced her smile to Taeyeon

“Hi Mrs. Jung and Ms. Jung” Jessica forcefully bow her head

“Just call her umma”

“Sorry but I only have a mom” Jessica said bluntly

“Jessica…” Krys frown as he thinks his daughter quite rude to his wife

“Soojungie, don’t mad. Mrs. Jung also ok” Taeyeon said to her husband

“Alright” Krys sighs “Who drive you here earlier? You ride bus or taxi?”

“Mommy drives me here. She not allow me to ride public transport alone”

“Mommy knows you come to see daddy?”

“Yea, she knows. I told her immediately after Katy invited me to come few days ago”

Krys nods his head “She not angry?”

“No, she’s cool. She’ll be mad if I hide it from her because she don’t like anyone keep secret from her” Jessica talk with sarcasm

Krys and his wife fake cough “How is mommy now?”

“Mommy is fine and she ask me to say a word to you” Jessica looking at her father

“What is it?” Krys and Taeyeon both excited to hear it

“She just ask me to say thanks to you”

“For what?”

“I don’t know” Jessica shrugged her shoulder

“Ok” Krys “Em, do you want to eat something?”

“No, I already eating before come here”

“But this almost lunch time”

“I’ll lunch with mommy later”

“Ok then”

After meet at the café, Krys and his family go to nearby mall. Jessica also goes together with them

While waiting for Katy and her mom buying their stuff, Jessica and her father sit on the bench outside of the store

“Why you divorce with mommy?” Jessica ask suddenly

Krys obviously startled by the question but he act cool “Because of my mistake and carelessness”

“Care to tell me?”

“She doesn’t tell you about it?”

“She did but I want to hear from you. Tell me the truth. I don’t mind if you twist the fact but you know who you try to deceive if you ever think to lie about your problem with mommy”

“Ok” Krys rubbed his face then he tells everything about what he did until he divorced with Tiffany. Jessica satisfied because what her father told her is similar to what her mom said

“I got it” Jessica said after her father end his talk

“Is it same as mommy told you?”

“Yes, it’s same. I’m happy that you not twist anything or lie because it’s enough that you deceive mommy but not to me”

“I’m very sorry for that” Krys said sadly

“It’s ok. It’ll change nothing, just don’t do it again to your wife. You don’t have idea how much we suffer or mommy suffered to be exact, after you leave us. Mommy is strong woman that I think you unable to find anymore. I’m grateful that I born as her daughter”

“Ok”

“Can I ask you something?”

“Sure” Krys nods

“Do you still love mommy? Not much but at least a little love for her?”

Krys mute for a while “Yea, I still love her. She is my first love and she mean a lot to me. As I told you, I don’t know how can I cheat on her and hurting her mercilessly. If I could turn back time, I won’t do it and won’t leave her”

“But you know you will never able make it right, isn’t it? You have wife and your daughter grown up now, she understand everything like how I do so there is no way you’ll able to fix things with mommy”

“I know I can’t but I want to beg for her apologize”

“I can’t make sure if she forgive you or not but mommy is deadly loyal woman I ever know. You know what I mean, right?”

“Yea, I know” Krys massage his temple

Katy and Taeyeon come to Jessica and Krys after finish shopping

“Jessica, do you want to buy something?” Taeyeon asked

“No”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes, I’m sure”

“Shall we go back now?” Krys ask

“Yes, let go” all of them walk to the car

“Jessi, where is your house? Daddy will drive you back” Krys ask when they leave the mall

“Just send me to Coffee Palace, mommy waiting for me there. That is her friend café”

“Ok then”

20 minutes later, Krys stop his car in front of Coffee Palace

“Mommy is really here?” Krys asked his daughter

“Yes, that is her car” Jessica pointed at her mom car

“Ok”

Out of the blue, Tiffany comes out of the café with the café owner, Yuri Kwon.

“Isn’t that your mom?” Taeyeon pointed at 2 women in front of the café
