Ethereal (Korean: 미묘한 ; often stylized as ETHEREΛL) is a South Korean girl group under Shinhwa Company and the first ever group made by a still active idol group. The group consists of five members: Rose, Louise, Kenna, Kyulbin and Skye. They officially debuted on July 28, 2016 with the mini album Tape One.
Since debut, Ethereal has met a tremendous amount of success and recognition despite coming from a small company. Their first EP, Tape One, topped Gaon Album Chart as did their first special album Winter Paradise (2016) and second EP, Tape Two (2017). Similarly, the group's first full length album Tape Three, the extended plays Ocean's Breeze and Systema Solaris and the special albums Spring World, Summer Light and Autumn Stories all reached #1 on the Gaon Album Chart. Additionally, Tape Two, Tape Three, Ocean's Breeze, Systema Solaris also topped the Billboard World Albums and afterwards with the release of the special album Autumn Stories, Ethereal overthrew Red Velvet as the K-Pop girl group with the most number-one albums on the chart and officially became the second girl group tied for the most number-one albums.
The members of Ethereal have also made several television appearances: Rose as the lead character in My Lovely Girl, Louise as the lead character in The K2 (2016) Goblin (2016-17) Strong Girl Bong-Son, Chicago Typewriter, Because This Is My First Live, Fight My Way (2017), I'm Not A Robot and The Producers (2018), Kenna as a secondary character in Because This Is My First Live and lead character in Something In The Rain, Kyulbin as a host of Music Bank, and Skye as Produce 101 (season 2) MC.

History Pre-Debut
Rose, the leader of the group and former member of SM Rookies, became an S.M Entertainment trainee in 2008. She was transferred by Kim Youngmin, the CEO, to Shinhwa Company. Louise also an SM trainee was casted in 2008 and left the company in early 2014, becoming a Shinhwa Company trainee in the same year. Kenna was an YG Entertainment trainee during 1 year as she was casted in late 2014, like Rose she was transferred by the CEO himself to Shinhwa Company. Kyulbin was casted by Shinhwa Company in 2012, as soon as they started looking for trainees for their very first girl group. Skye, in 2015 joined JYP Entertainment survival show Sixteen which created the girl group Twice. She made it to the finale but did not make the final cut being replaced by Momo. In 2016 she joined Produce 101, alongside Jeon Somi as a representative of JYP, a reality girl group reality show on Mnet, where she finished in 1st place but as she was forced to leave JYP due to internal conflicts, Skye was not allowed to participate in I.O.I promotional activities, subsequently, Somi replacing her as the group's center.
Prior to their debut, Shinhwa Company released various covers. Rose covered "Leon", originally a duet by Park Myungsoo and IU, Louise covered "Hug Me" by Jung Joon Il, Kenna covered "I Don't Love You " by Urban Zakapa and Kyulbin covered "Starry Night" by LAYBACKSOUND. A week later, a dance of S.E.S hit "Be Natural" featuring Rose and Louise was released alongside a performance video for a song titled "Ponytail"
