Foreword

After:

The Six watch as the Coffin is lowered into the ground. They wonder how no one saw it coming, how they hadn't seen that their closest friend was begging for help, and none of them saw it.

"This is our fault." They turn toward Taehyung, who is watching the mother of his best friend being comforted by her husband, the mother who has just watched her child get buried. "Jin always looked out for us, we were selfish. We should've seen he was hurting."

They stay silent. None of them able to dispute his statement. Kim Seokjin was like the Mother Hen of their group. Always watched over them. Made sure they were safe, made sure they were okay and did his best to keep them out of trouble. No matter how much they complained, they liked having someone to watch over them.

"It should've been one of us. Jin didn't deserve this, it should've been us." Jimin hadn't yet taken his eyes of the collage of pictures of his former friend. Every single one of them he was smiling bigger than in the last. Most of them Jin took on his own, most of them featured one or more of the six of them. None of them showed the pain the man was actually going through. One of the few positive things in their lives and they took advantage of it.

"Jimin don't say that. Jin-"

"Jin's dead. Jimin's right. It should've been us." With those final words. Taehyung walks off, not sparing another glance. After a few moments, Jimin follows after him.

"They're hurt," Hoseok speaks from beside him. "They don't mean it."

"Yeah, they do. " With that. Namjoon turns and walks off. Leaving only the three. The Speech. Namjoon was supposed to give a speech. Hoseok thinks of calling his hyung back but he knew it was a lost cause. Though he wouldn't admit it in front of the others, he was scared, terrified of speaking in front of the crowd. Explaining to them his relationship with Seokjin and in turn them faulting him for not realizing. Namjoon blames himself. Hoseok didn't need the older man to tell him that.

They all blamed themselves. Taehyung and Jimin were just the only ones brave enough to admit it. That was the scariest part he guesses. A group of young men afraid to confront their emotions. The death of a close friend wasn't something that should be bottled up. But then again keeping secrets was what they were best at. Jin knew this. And now their only cause to speak up was gone.

They wouldn't last long. They couldn't.
