Chapter 5

The Purest Rises

There was a strange sense of confidince in her today. It was very attractive. A mixture of confidence and attitude, how very appealing. As she smirked and chuckled, I can see that her eyes are now showing off their full intensity. Again, it was hard to read her thoughts or emotions. She either looks like she's pissed, or intensely observing with penetration that could shred my brain into pieces. I could feel the intense heat boiling inside me. I was tempted to respond back with ever greater intensity, however I did not want to scare her off. Many people in my life has noted how intense my personality can be. However, she already established herself as quite intense. I probably found my match. A smirk played on my lips.

I noticed she was eyeing me intensely. I felt very flattered. "You need something?" more like, See something you like?

Her eyes shifted to look at me at eye level, with intensity, "Oh, sorry I was just looking at your name tag." she half smiled.

"Is it special?" I tilted my head.

"Hmph" she breathed out with a smile closing her eyes and opening them again, "Special? Not. Fascinating? Yes."

Ooh, intense she is indeed, quite the nerve. As far as I am concerned, many people are petty and would get offended by her statement. Despite saying Fascinating.

I pointed out smugly, "Ah, blunt you are I see."

She just shrugged her shoulders like she did not give a care in the world.

"So, why the name Ren?" She got straight to the point. I like that. No games.

I felt my face soften, "It's nothing. Just a name given to me from the past."

I saw her eyes soften, but the heat was still present. She averted her gaze. She caught on quick.

"So, what's so fascinating about my name?" I asked.

Her light brown orbs connected with mine again. "Tis' strange in my point of view for a Korean man to have a foriegn name placed upon him. Unless I am completely wrong, then you are Japanese. Also, the translation means lotus flower.

A sense of nostalgia washed over me.

"Hmm." I nodded. A part of the old memories flashed in my mind. I remembered when the members called me Ren in interviews, and I explaining the meaning of my name to the radio host.

"True, but really it's nothing."

She nodded half heartedly. I could feel the suspicion and false agreement in the air around her. It was very tense. It made me feel very exposed under her vision. I can assume she was also as cunning, and probably even more intelligent than I am. She reeked of something that repulsed me. Yet, so damn magnetizing. I cannot help but be enthralled by her.

Maybe instead of countering her, I should be straight up with her as she was with me (to a certain degree). "My real name is Choi MinKi" I held out my hand.

She looked at my hand before taking it firmly into hers. "Mine is Amelia Kan, nice to know you Choi MinKi."

They say that the grip of a person's handshake tells you about their character. Usually, women's hand shakes are more loose and delicate, not firm like men. She established direct eye to eye level contact with mine, she smiled slightly, her grip not forceful, but firm. Studies suggested that she is an assertive individual, very blunt with the direct and eye contact, but sly with the slight smile. I've probably assumed too much, but it is something I will stick with for now. Still, there was still something in the back of my mind that bothered me. There's just something about her character, the darker side of her that I wished to see. Yet, so repulsive, it made me sick to my stomach just thinking about it.

However, I'm up to the search to examine her fully. Her unrivaling aura was magnetic, but there was something more about her. I could just sense the paranoia in her. I want to unravel her.

We both pulled back our hands, "How do you feel about hanging out?" I asked swallowing a golf ball down my throat.

Her eyes flick up with her head faced slightly downward. Her eyes were piercing with an unreadable expression. No answer. She was expecting something from me.

"As acquaintances of course." I cleared out.

She nodded, "Okay, sounds perfect. What time precisely?"

"Uh. Let me check my schedule." I walked to the back, but as I turned, I noticed at the corner of my eyes her micro agressions. It was a flash, she rolled her eyes subtly. She's an irrtiable person. I like it. She probably thought I sounded incompetent.

I mused at the thought of her having any friends. Or does she have any? Considering her intense nature, somehow almost hostile passive aggressiveness, and bluntless; I think she probably has little to no friends, or maybe just a few close ones who accept her. Men would find her too strange, women would dislike her general. But who am I to speak when I myself have some traits like that myself? She's just more straightforward. Basically, a 'no bull.sh*t person'.

"Aunty" I walked into the back, "Can I get this day off?" or no maybe a few days. I deserve it. "Or how about a few days?" I requested politely.

She turned around with a big smile, "Go ahead and take your week off!" she hugged me. Pulling back she held my shoulders and squealed, "Go get her Minki!"

Aunty was watching.

"Yeah yeah, okay aunty. Bye." I took off my apron grabbing my leather jacket.

I walked to the kitchen and tapped Sunghee on the shoulder, "Put the order in a to go box." she did it without any complaints. What a nice co worker.

Shortly thereafter, I grabbed the box and walked out front with it in my hand. She was standing there with her arms and legs crossed staring intently at me. I stared at the curves around her body. Her cur.ves were more voluptuous than the average Korean women, and her hips were "good birthing hips". I chuckled at a lewd thought.

"What's so funny?" she inquired.

I shook my head, "Nothing. It was just me." I walked over to her still holding the box, "We can go now if you don't mind."

She nodded, "Sure, I have the rest of the day off."

"Cool." I was glad. "I know somewhere we can relax and talk." I guided her out of the cafe.

I looked back at the window and I saw my aunt shouting out, "FIGHTING!"

I just nodded my head and smiled.
