“So….maybe this was a bad idea after all?” Seungkwan concluded, looking at the exhausted Joshua and the indignant Seungcheol.
Joshua collapsed onto a chair. “No kidding,” he mumbled. “Let’s face it guys, they beat us.”
There was a gloomy silence. Seungcheol remained stony, refusing to say more than a few grunts as he stared daggers outside towards the opposing school.
“Cheer up, hyung,” Seokmin said. “We’re still a super prestigious school and all.”
“…that’s inferior to the Diamonds…” Seungcheol grumbled. Wonwoo rolled his eyes.
“You’re acting like it’s the end of the world. Oh, boohoo, they have a prettier host club. And a midget insulted our school. Wow, looks like we should all just give up on life now.”
Everyone was taken aback by the usually chill Wonwoo snapping like that, including Seungcheol who simply got up and trudged out of the room, leaving the remaining 6 members in silence.
“Now what?” Seungkwan complained. “Our leader’s gotten his soul out of him, and we’re still losing to the Diamonds.”
“Let’s just call it a day,” Joshua proposed, tired. He yanked off his wig and tossed it aside glumly.
“You know what we need? We need some sort of competition to stir things up again,” Chan declared. “I say we find a way to compete against those Diamonds and show them who’s the champion.”
Joshua smiled wearily. “Hm, maybe later…”
Seungcheol finally calmed down as he sat at the back of the school, alone. He recalled that stupid shortie and wondered how someone so adorable could be so vicious.
Like a chihuahua, Seungcheol thought absentmindedly.
“Seungcheol,” said a voice. Seungcheol turned to see Joshua come up to him, obviously extremely worn out from the events of the day.
“Can we talk?”
Seungcheol nodded.
“Okay, so…”
Seungcheol sighed. “Yeah. Sorry. Overreacted again.”
Joshua looked down dolefully. “Hey, why did we create a host club in the first place?”
The question, like many others Joshua had thrown at him, caught Seungcheol off guard.
“Wh-why?”
“Tell me.”
Seungcheol looked up at the sky. “To make people happy, I guess?”
“You’re the one who had the idea in the first place, remember?” Joshua said fondly. “You said it’d be new and unique, and I said it’d be like in one of those animes, and you made fun of me, and we decided to gather our friends together and do it.”
Seungcheol laughed. “Yeah.”
“Do you still find it fun?”
Seungcheol paused. “I do,” he stated, although there was a hint of doubt in his voice.
“You know Cheollie,” Joshua said thoughtfully. “I don’t like having this rivalry with Diamond High. Is that wrong?”
Seungcheol merely shook his head. “But that’s what makes us Shining High. We will always be against the Diamonds.”
“But what if we weren’t?”
“What are you suggesting?”
Joshua exhaled, his eyes sparkling. “I want to change things.”
Seungcheol smirked. “That’s surprisingly bold of you, but maybe start with yourself, mate. You can barely speak up in class.”
Joshua flushed slightly. “Oh, shut up,” he mumbled.
“Yah! Did you just tell your leader to shut up? Should I tell the others how you…” Seungcheol’s eyes glinted, “…called me oppa?”
A look of fear passed through Joshua’s face. “You wouldn’t dare,” he said uneasily.
Seungcheol merely snickered and got up.
“Thanks, Joshua. Really.” He held out a hand to help Joshua up. “Now come on, we have some stupid Diamonds to beat.”
Joshua pouted at Seungcheol’s change in attitude but got up as well, and they both headed back.
Well, as they say, that day the quiet before the storm took place. Because the very next day—
“Seriously?!”
“Oh. My. Gosh!”
“Woot!”
Joshua seemed to be the only one not jumping for joy.
“Chan, can you like, predict the future or something?” Seokmin said excitedly.
“Maybe,” Chan replied smugly, also grinning.
“This is exactly what we needed!” Seungcheol declared boldly.
Joshua disagreed, but he knew it was a lost cause. The members were much too enthusiastic over this.
Oh, right. It was decided that there would be a sports meet, a competition between the Shinings and the Diamonds. Now, Joshua himself wasn’t exactly unathletic, but the fa
