Let's bet on it
♡Love Rush!♡ [WE'RE BACK]
“Seungcheol…” Joshua said threateningly. Joshua and threats go about as well as toothpaste and orange juice, which is not at all, so Seungcheol couldn’t help but look at him in confusion.
“What?”
“What did you do to my lines? Why am I constantly praising Jeonghan?”
Seungcheol shook his head. “I never wrote that stuff down. Honest.”
“Then who did?”
At that moment, the host club door opened and a few girls ambled in, so their conversation was cut short.
“Joshua-oppa, we heard you’re in the play!” A girl squealed. “How exciting!”
Joshua nodded, crying on the inside because when they all found out who he was actually playing, his refined image would be gone. “I guess you could say that.”
“You’re coming to watch, right?” Seungkwan said cheerfully, avoiding Joshua’s look of dread.
They all agreed in unison, some even canceling their plans just to watch the play. Once they were gone Joshua gave him a what-did-you-just-do look.
“What’s wrong, hyung? The more people that show up the better, right?” Seungkwan said innocently.
“Yeah, I mean in your lines it shows how much you hate Jeonghan, so I don’t see the issue,” Minghao added sweetly.
Joshua looked at them suspiciously. “I know what you’re up to and—”
“Guys! Did you already tell him that we tampered with the script so that it sounds like he likes Jeonghan? I told you to wait!” Chan suddenly appeared breathlessly.
Joshua’s eyes widened and Minghao facepalmed while Seungkwan went looking for the chainsaw to end Chan’s life.
“You what?!” Joshua exclaimed, something similar but not quite wrath showing in his face.
“Now now, hyung,” Seokmin the peacemaker appeared. “It was all in good will.”
“How is this—”
“You said so yourself. You wanted to bridge the gap between us and the Diamonds. What better way than to use your character?”
Joshua crossed his arms. “That’s just an excuse, isn’t it?”
“Yes,” he answered truthfully.
Joshua sighed.
“Can you believe it’s already been a month since we met the Diamonds at sports day?” Seungcheol said grandly. “It feels like it was just yesterday that I met that adorab—that evil munchkin.”
“It’s been a month since I was discovered to not be Jisoo,” Joshua mentioned.
“Oh yeah, whatever happened with that? Did they just forget about it?” Wonwoo asked curiously. “I thought they were out for your reputation?”
“Well, Jeonghan didn’t forget. He hates me…a lot,” Joshua added sadly.
The others exchanged glances.
“Are you sure about that?”
Joshua nodded. “I’m not used to having somebody hate me so…”
Suddenly Seungcheol sprang up. “Hey, what time is it?” He looked at the clock. “Joshua! Wonwoo! We were supposed to meet the others for our stage rehearsal half an hour ago!!!! Why didn't anyone remind us?!"
They quickly got to their feet and left, Wonwoo a little less enthusiastically.
“Chan…” Seungkwan said once they left.
“Please don’t kill me,” Chan pleaded.
….And Chan was never seen again.
(Just kidding…)
“Sorry we’re late!” Seungcheol said the moment he burst through the auditorium doors. They were performing in the Diamond High auditorium. It was decided which school the play would be held in through rock paper scissors. Unfortunately, it was Joshua against Jihoon and Joshua was famously known for being terrible at rock paper scissors, thus, they lost.
Principal Chanyeol looked at them disapprovingly. “Where were you?”
“Host club,” he replied.
At those words, the Diamond juniors looked at them and back at their own host club members, frazzled.
“They have a host club, too?”
“Did they copy us?”
“Well, they are pretty good looking..”
Ignoring the whispers, the Shining members made their way backstage. They were forced to get changed into their real outfits (much to some chagrin) and even get their makeup done for the full effect.
“Can I just say that I make a really hot prince?” Jun commented, examining himself in the mirror.
Seeing Jeonghan roll his eyes, he added, “Don’t worry, you make a lovely princess.”
Seungcheol appeared, looking just like…a dad. Like seriously.
They almost didn’t notice Joshua because the latter was trying to hide behind various pieces of furniture, eventually getting dragged out by Seungcheol.
“Wow, you look pretty…” Jeonghan said without thinking. The others looked at him for a moment and he quickly added, “…pretty weird. That outfit is atrocious. And that makeup. And everything.”
Joshua looked at his neon pink wings and glittery dress that sparkled more than a diamond, as well as his overly done makeup. “Yeah, I know. At least your dress and appearance is decent,” he replied wryly, and Jeonghan couldn’t help but feel like a jerk because of Joshua’s good-natured response.
Jihoon ducked behind Soonyoung but quickly got exposed as well.
“Omigosh you look so cute Jihoon!!!” Soonyoung cooed.
Jihoon blushed and looked at the ground. “I hate my life.”
Seungcheol gaped at him. With the wig, makeup, and overall height and appearance he seriously could’ve passed as a girl.
“Shall we get going then, wifey?” he said out of the blue.
.
.
.
It went awkwardly silent at those words as everybody wondered if they heard Seungcheol correctly.
“D-did you just call me—” Jihoon sputtered.
“I’m just getting into character,” he defended, wondering what the hell his brain was thinking to even construct that sentence.
Jun and Soonyoung looked at each other knowingly, then shook their heads at the other’s antics.
“Oh right, we got some of the sophomores to be backstage helpers,” Principal Baekhyun suddenly called. “See how pretty the stage is? That was all us.”
“Actually, it was mostly Mingyu,” Jeonghan pointed out. “That boy can do anything, seriously.”
At that, Mingyu appeared, looking proud of himself. “I offered to do the makeup too but the makeup artists said I was already too good at everything and it wouldn’t be fair to them. Whatever that means.” His eyes traveled around the set when suddenly they fell on Wonwoo, whose makeup made him resemble a vampire more than a human, to fit the whole evil stepfather trope.
“HOLY—” he quickly snapped his mouth shut, then dragged Jeonghan with him away.
“You didn’t tell me HE would be here!” Mingyu said in a loud whisper.
Jeonghan rolled his eyes. “If you had any brains you would’ve known anyway.”
Mingyu looked at his reflection in a nearby mirror. “It’s the first time he’ll be seeing me since the athletics meet! I look like garbage!”
The other three Diamond host club juniors, curious as to why Mingyu nearly shrieked and then grabbed Jeonghan, showed up. They found him pacing back and forth in agitation, with a less than impressed Jeonghan looking at him warily.
“Oh right, he has a crush on that Shining guy, doesn’t he?” Jihoon noted immediately by his actions.
Mingyu looked around in panic. “Don’t say that out loud!” he shushed.
He started mumbling about how he looked like garbage once more and the others looked at him in disbelief.
“If you think you look like garbage, what does that make us?” Soonyoung muttered.
“Good point,” Jun included.
“But did you see him? He looks freakishly handsome in that getup! I’m done for—”
