Jongin went back to the library he had been in the other day. It had gone a few days now, but he still hadn’t found the book he deeply wanted to read. He even asked the librarian if they had the book, and she said it was registered, but she didn’t know where it was.

Jongin sighed. “Where is it?” he mumbled to himself before he started searching on a new shelf.

As he pushed a book to the side, he spotted another figure on the other side of the shelf he was searching. This time Jongin didn’t have to blink twice; he could already tell who it was, and he wasn’t thrilled of seeing him again. Kyungsoo.

Jongin was about to just ignore the other’s presence, until he saw someone who looked to be older than them approaching the smaller boy Jongin had no interest in whatsoever.

“You okay Kyungsoo? Have you found what you’re looking for?”

Jongin didn’t know what he was expecting. He was maybe expecting a small reply from the shy boy. He was expecting him to say at least one word.

He wasnt expecting him to reply in sign language.

Thousands of questions ran through Jongin’s mind. Did that kid only know sign language? Was he deaf? No, he couldn’t be, he thought to himself. He had heard both Jongin and the older student talking. Couldn’t he speak with his voice?

Jongin had been observing Kyungsoo ever since he found out the little problem of hos. He couldn’t call it much of a problem though. It wasn’t like he liked or disliked the boy more or less. He just found it weird. Weird no one had told him. Weird how he could hear, but couldn’t talk.

Jongin had always seen Kyungsoo in the library, the ones they met in and at school, and in bookstores. Jongin had found his book, but he kept on going to the library anyways to read. Either he’d bring his book to read there in silence, or he’d search through the bookshelves, but actually secretly watching Kyungsoo instead.

It was weird, Jongin kept thinking to himself, why do I observe him so much? Why do I kept following after him? Why do I keep asking about him to my friends?

Jongin looked down at the book he was holding at the moment that he had grabbed from the shelf. Why do I read in a book about learning sign language?

Jongin noticed Kyungsoo suddenly walked away from the bookshelf he was standing by and went to the toilets. The book wasn’t placed back, and Jongin knew Kyungsoo would walk back to the same spot. He didn’t know why he was curious of the book he was reading.

Without thinking much, he moved to where Kyungsoo had been standing and picked up the book he was previously holding.

It was the same book as Jongin was reading, ‘Love Is Blind’. He was almost done with
