good reasons to kill a character:
1. it adavances the plot
2. it fulfills the doomed character's prsonal goal
3. it motivates other characters
4. it emphasizes the theme
5. it crates realism within the story
6. it removes an extraneous character
bad reasons to kill a character:
1. shocking readers just for the sake of shocking them
2. making readers sad just for the sake of making them sad
3. removing an extraneous character (this is also a good reason but if the character is really extraneous, verify if he belongs in the story in first place)
