Personality: Kay is a reserved guy who enjoys spending his afternoons reading rather than playing football outside. He thinks that sports are stupid. Personal Background: Kay was born in Seoul, South Korea when his family was going through a hard time. His sister had been one year old then. Sungmin, Kay’s father, wasn’t sure if they could keep another child, but they did anyway since his mother, Su Hyun, insisted so.

When Kay was eight, Su Hyun died in a car accident, leaving Sungmin devastated and alone with two kids. Sungmin left the kids with their grandparents for a while so he could recover from the loss. When he came back to pick them up, he was a totally different person, smiling all the time and laughing. Kay did not like the change and decided that he would be as his father was before when every little touch meant the world to him. Now, when his father hugs him, it is very annoying.

Kay’s dream to become a singer began then, in his grandparent’s home. His grandfather had danced a lot when he was younger and showed Kay some of the dance moves. Kay fell in love and then showed his grandfather how well he could sing. His singing voice wasn’t as good as it is now since he was eight then, but his grandfather was still shocked and told him he could be a singer or a dancer when he grew older. Kay decided to be so to make his grandfather happy.

Trainee Background: Kay was usually quiet and just let the choreographers tell him what to do so he could get in. He was cooperative and did all the moves correctly. Sometimes, he did stumble or fall, but the choreographers never lost their patience and helped him again.

How were you found?: Kay decided to secretly, without letting his dad or sister know, audition to become a trainee. He really did it as a fun ‘pass-the-time-away’ kind of thing at first and never expected to be chosen so when he was, he almost tld them he had changed his mind. But then he remembered his grandfather who had died just a while before and decided to give it a try.
