I don’t remember how many times it’s been, her appearing at my house unannounced. All I know is that it’s been about a week since the incident. After that incident, she would check up on me more often making sure I wouldn’t run out and do what I nearly did. Truthfully, she didn’t need to worry about that, my anger had somewhat subsided but the pain was still there. I wouldn’t go out to find her but that didn’t mean I couldn’t stop thinking about her.

She would just come over and make some food and start cleaning without saying a word while I just lay in bed. Most of the time I would pretend to lay in bed to avoid her but I wonder if she knew I was actually awake.

However, she would always leave a note for me without fail, telling me to do something.

“Sunbae, stop staying in bed so much, why don’t you just walk around your apartment and just watch some TV.”

“Sunbae, I just saw that your apartment has a heated swimming pool. Why don’t you take a dip to clear your mind?”

“Sunbae have you been working out recently, if you stay in bed too much, your muscles will become fats.”

“Sunbae, it’s a nice day out how about taking a walk around your neighbourhood or going shopping?”

I was actually starting to look forward to these notes. Usually I just what she told me to do. It may sound stupid but it gave me guidance. I just didn’t want to think and it acted like directions. To me they were a simple satisfaction. This was the latest one she wrote yesterday:

“Sunbae, I heard the weather forecast tomorrow is going to be sunny. Do you want to go to the park for a picnic?”

I woke up yesterday evening to find it on the table. I couldn’t help but find myself saying ‘Yes’ to her.

Soon I heard the all too familiar knock on the door. I made my way to the door and opened it to find her there with a picnic basket in her hand. “Sunbae, annyeonghasaeyo.”

“Oh you’re here.”

“I’ve got your favourite ham and egg sandwiches and ginger tea.” She said as she patted the basket in her hand. “Are you ready?”

“I’ll just need to change.”

I quickly went off to change as she waited for me. After I finished, I came out to see her sitting by the window, looking at the view as she lightly swung her legs back and forth. The way the sun shone on her just added to her innocence and purity. Only one word came to my mind as I looked at her, ‘angelic’, just like...

“Sunbae.” She called as she snapped me out of my thoughts. “Are you done?”

“Yes.”

“Come on.” she said as she jumped off from where she was sitting and ran over to me pulling me out the door.

Soon we reached the gates of the park. But she suddenly stopped and held the basket up signaling me to take it. I did and started walking but realised that she wasn’t following me. I looked back at her confused. “Aren’t you coming with me?”

“Sunbae, I know you need your space. I’m just here to provide support.”

I couldn’t help but be disappointed at her words and without really thinking, I stretched out my hand and said “Come with me.”

I could tell that she was shocked at my words but at the same time happy. Eventually she nodded and grabbed my hand.

I couldn’t help but smile as I lead her into the park and tried to find a place to sit. “Sunbae, there looks good.” She said as she pointed to a spot under a large tree.

I gave her a small smile which signaled that it was fine with me. She let go of my hand and ran towards the chosen spot, leaving my hand with a slight longing for warmth.

I took bigger steps to reach her and when I did, she quickly grabbed the basket from me taking the mat out and spreading it on the grass.  I helped her to smooth it out while she grabbed the food and drinks from the basket. Soon, we were comfortably sitting there breathing the fresh air and absorbing our surroundings. I wonder when the last time I felt like this was.

Despite the fact we sat there in silence, it wasn’t an awkward silence. Instead, it felt just right. I turned my head to the right as I saw her sitting with her legs outstretch and her eyes closing breathing in her surroundings. I couldn’t help but stare at the features of her face. Her long eyelashes, plump pink lips, cute sharp nose. “Sunbae, are you staring at me?” Instinctively, I quickly turned my head the other way, embarrassed I got caught. “Sunbae, am I that pretty?”

“I.I...I…” Before I could even answer, I felt something wet from on my head. Then I realised it started to rain. “Ah!” she scr
