First Love

Jae Won and Hayi are on their way to visit Hayi's mom. And just as expected Jaewon did not heed Hayi’s advice to not be too lavish. He brought a fruit basket, wild ginseng and a bouquet of flowers.
“I told you, you didn’t have to bring all these,” Hayi said as she sat next to Jae Won in his expensive car that’s being driven by a chauffeur.
“I just want to show your mom how thankful I am that she brought you into this world,” Jae Won replied.
“Oppa! Stop being too cheesy it’s not like you’re going to ask for my hand in marriage,” Hayi commented almost laughing.
“Give me a few years to prepare for that,” he teased. “I’m just glad you’re introducing me to your mom.”
Hayi smiled and rested her head on his shoulder.

Hayi’s mom didn’t expect to be showered with so many presents. She was under the impression that she will just be meeting her daughter’s boyfriend. She didn’t get a memo that she was about to meet a very polite but quite extravagant young man. He even has a chauffeur carrying a fruit basket, a bouquet of flowers and a box that looks like it’s filled with wild ginseng set in a bed of satin sheets.
“Thank you for all these but isn’t this too much?” Hayi’s mom muttered.
“I’m just grateful that you brought up such a wonderful daughter,” Jae Won said. “It’s a pleasure meeting you. I am Jung Jae Won, I am Hayi’s senior in school,” He added as he formally bowed in front of Hayi’s mom.
“It’s nice to meet you Jae Won-gun. I’m Jeon Mi Sun, Hayi’s mom,” she replied. “Have a seat.”
“Omma!” Hayi went and hugged her mom. She immediately got a kiss on the top of her head.
“Aigoo my little princess got herself a prince charming,” her mom commented.
“Shhss… he might hear you,” Hayi joked.
The three shared a simple meal together. Hayi’s mom even fed Jae Won a sammgyeopsal wrap. The young man was thrilled to be eating with Hayi and her mom. He was so used to eating alone because both his parents are always away. Truth be told he can’t remember the last time he dined with them.
“If you don’t mind me asking what do your parents do for a living,” Hayi’s mom asked.
“My Parents are diplomats. They’re often assigned outside the country. I used to travel with them a lot but I grew tired of constantly changing schools and not being able to finish a whole year in one place,” he replied.
Hayi’s mom looked at Jae Won with a warm gaze. “Well you can always come join us during breaks,” she offered.
Hayi hugged her mom in thanks. Jae Won’s wide smile gave away how grateful he is for the offer.
“We’ll definitely visit you often,” Jae Won promised.
“You should bring him to our restaurant next time,” Hayi’s mom said.
“I don’t know. Do you like soy sauce fermented crab?” Hayi asked Jae Won.
“I’ve tried it a few times,” he admitted.
“I mom makes the best soy crab. I’ll take you there some time,” Hayi said.
