SUNDAY

“Why do you have so much .”

“Because we’re married for a week you idiot.”

Wonwoo rolls his eyes and groans as Mingyu pulls in all his luggage and suitcases through the older’s door. He wants to slam his head against the wall, but knowing that painful that would be and how it would affect his health insurance, Wonwoo urges himself not to do so.

Mingyu does not look quite excited either. Neither of them are excited in fact.

“It’s your fault.”

Mingyu gives an offended look towards Wonwoo. “How is it my fault?” He protests. “If you hadn’t agreed to Jihoon hyung’s stupid bet, we wouldn’t be in this mess.”

“Jihoon?” Wonwoo scoffs. “I could say the same about you and Seokmin.”

It happened a few days ago…

“I don’t understand why you hate that kid so much.” Jihoon commented as he stared at his best friend punching the large teddy bear. He waited until Wonwoo calmed down from his rage to answer his question.

Having known since they were kids, Jihoon knew Wonwoo wasn’t an aggressive person. He was the passive, the serene type. Wonwoo was chill with things and usually don’t speak that much, which was great with Jihoon because the two enjoyed comfortable silence. Jihoon categorizes that as the kitten type.

But if there was one thing that turns Wonwoo into a raging beast, it would be no other than Kim Mingyu.

Kim Mingyu was a year younger and one head taller than Wonwoo. The kid was the puppy type, always laughing and running around chasing his tail. Unlike Wonwoo, Mingyu was loud, and extroverted, and energetic. He was a ball of sunshine that Jihoon and Wonwoo cannot close the curtains to.

No one knew how it started. But from the beginning when the two laid their eyes on each other, they were destined to fall into chaos.

Whoever first said “opposites attract,” they clearly were full of .

“He’s just so annoying!” Wonwoo screamed into the teddy bear. “It was clearly my straw. I was clearly reaching for it but no he just had to take it.”

“He’s not that bad.” Jihoon nonchalantly answered as he casually turns the page of the novel he was reading. Wonwoo continued to growl and scream into his teddy bear before Jihoon turned to look at him. “You know,” the younger started, “from how much you hate it, I wonder how your lives would be if you two were married.”

Wonwoo popped his head from him the stuff animal. His hair was a mess and his eyes were full of anger and confusion. “I’m sorry, what.” Wonwoo exaggerated. “Me? Married, with him? Are you crazy?”

Jihoon shrugged and gave a look. “I bet you wouldn’t even last a week with him.”

“I can’t even last an hour with him let alone a week.”

The shorter laughed. “How about we make a bet?”

“Jihoon, no.”

“If you can stay a week with Mingyu, then I’ll buy you cheeseburgers for a month.”

There was a gulp from Wonwoo. Damn Jihoon for always using cheeseburgers against him. “You wouldn’t.”

Jihoon smirked. “Hey, I’m a man of promises.”

“You’re a little boy.”

“Don’t start with me.”

Wonwoo contemplated. “Fine, I’ll take the bet. But you better keep your end of the deal!”

“Cross my heart.”

“Damn that Jeon Wonwoo!” Mingyu shouted and slammed his water bottle onto the table. He regretted doing so because they were in the university cafeteria and people turned to look at him after his outburst. “Sorry, sorry.” He added with an embarrassed smile.

Seokmin shook his head at the tan skinned male. “What happened now.” He said because he just knows.

Mingyu gave out a hot breath. “Wonwoo took the last copy of the history textbook after I specifically told the librarian to hold it on for me. Gosh why does Joshua hyung have to be so nice.”

“Don’t blame Joshua hyung,” Seokmin snapped, “The man is just doing his job. Your fault for now checking it out earlier.”

“I forgot my library card!”

“And whose fault is that?”

Mingyu groaned and smacked his forehead against the table. “Wonwoo won’t even let me borrow it for a second after I so kindly asked for it.”

“You know, it’d be really interesting if you and Wonwoo were in a relationship.”

Wonwoo almost choked on his water. “Me? With Wonwoo? No thanks.” He said and Seokmin laughs loudly.

“Aw come on man, what if I paid you for spending a week with him.”

“Never. I’d rather listen to Seungkwan talk.”

“Come on, I’ll pay you, seriously.”

“How much are we talking about?”

“I’ll pay $50.”

“Nah bro, you gotta bump that up.”

“Bro, it’s only a week/”

“Bro, $50 is not enough.”

“Fine, fine. Bro I’ll bump it up to $100.”

“$150.”

“Bro!”

Mingyu laughed. “Fine. We’ll leave it at $100. I’ll take it but I won’t like it!” He shouted and froze when Wonwoo and Jihoon enter the cafeteria. Mingyu held his breath.

“There he is,” Jihoon said, quite excitedly, as he pointed at Mingyu. They made their way over with Jihoon dragging Wonwoo by his wrist. “So glad to see you here.”

Are you really, Mingyu thought. He turned to Wonwoo. “Wonwoo.” Mingyu greeted bitterly.

“Mingyu.” Wonwoo greeted back in the same the same tone. Jihoon laughed next to him.

“Hey, Mingyu. Wonwoo and I made a bet. If you two stay together for a week then I’d have to buy him a month worth of cheeseburgers.”

Mingyu opened his mouth before closing it. He turned to Seokmin who sipped his coffee casually. This is your chance, Mingyu could clearly hear Seokmin thinking.

“Yeah, Seokmin and I made the same bet. He’d pay me $100.”

Jihoon clapped. “This is great! From the power within I pronounce you two married for a week.”

Mingyu looked at Wonwoo. “Just so you know, I’m only doing it for the money.” He said, his eyes glaring at the older.

Wonwoo scoffed. “Right. Try to not to fall in love with me.” He joked.

And that’s how this all happened…

“I call the right side.” Wonwoo says when he opens the door to his bedroom. It has been getting late since they argued on how to split the living room the entire afternoon. He looks at Mingyu who shakes his head in protest. “What?”

“I like to sleep on the right.” Mingyu responds.

“It’s my bed.”

“So? We’re ‘married’ remember?” Mingyu retaliates, his fingers forming into quotation marks. But Wonwoo remains his ground, glaring up at the younger.

“It’s my bed, so I get to sleep on the right.”

“I can’t fall asleep on the left!”

“ for you!”

“You’re annoying!”

“You’re not that great either!”

Both letting out a small growl, they head to their sides of the bed. Mingyu is just about to sit until Wonwoo throws a paper ball at him. “Don’t you dare try to sit on my bed without showering first. You probably have fleas from that dog of yours.”

“Leave Jimmy out of this.” Mingyu argues in return. “Where’s your dumb cat, you know, the one that sits on its all day.”

“I gave her to Jihoon to babysit for the week because I don’t want her to catch your stupidity.” Wonwoo sasses with the cross of his arms. He glares at Mingyu who glares back before angrily heading towards to the bathroom to shower.

“Hmph.” For the money, for the money.

“Hmph!” For cheeseburgers, for cheeseburgers.

Mingyu slams the door shut and Wonwoo sighs against the doorframe, rubbing his temple. He had already showered but it feels like he needs another one to take away the stress.

When Mingyu returns back to the room, wet and shirtless, Wonwoo is already in bed with a book in hand and throws a towel at him. “Ow, what the did I do now?”

Wonwoo huffs. “Put on a shirt, will you. This isn’t a public bathhouse.”

Mingyu rolls his eyes. “I sleep shirtless.” He answers and Wonwoo humphs before going back to read his novel as Mingyu makes his way towards the left side of the bed, drying his hair with the towel Wonwoo had thrown at him. “Can you turn off the light so I can sleep now.”

“No I always read before I sleep.”

Mingyu rolls his eyes. “What are you reading? ‘How to Get Out of the Emo Phase’?”

“No, it’s called ‘How to Survive Living with an Idiot’ actually.”

“Is it for dummies.”

“Haha really funny.”

“...”

“...”

“...”

“...”

“Can you turn off the light now.”

Wonwoo slams his book shut. “Fine.” He gives in with a growl and puts his book onto his nightstand before turning off the light. “Happy now you big baby.”

“Very.” Mingyu says and turns to his left  before knowing a big mistake. “Why are you turned this way.”

Wonwoo’s brows furrow. “I sleep on my right.”

“So you’re meaning to tell me that you sleep on the right side on the right side of the bed.”

“Yes is that a problem?”

“Yeah because I sleep on my left side. I don’t want to sleep facing you all night.”

Wonwoo scoffs. “We’ll be asleep anyway. Does it really matter?” He says and Mingyu breaths to hold on his angry.

“Whatever.” Mingyu says and lays back down onto the bed, facing Wonwoo. The older had closed his eyes already and Mingyu remembers listening to Wonwoo’s soft breaths before both of them fall asleep.

It’s going to be a long week.

MONDAY

Mingyu wakes up with a small shiver. The night had been fine if he weren’t feeling like it was the north pole. Shivering, Mingyu looks over at Wonwoo who’s still fast asleep...and hogged all the blankets.

Mingyu groans and gets a good grip of the sheets, pulling it over before realizing Wonwoo has a stronger hold on them. “Yah,” Mingyu calls as he gives Wonwoo’s shoulder a smack. “Wake  up.” He hears Wonwoo mumble and Mingyu holds in his patience. “Jeon Wonwoo.”

“Mhmm….” Wonwoo whines into his pillow, his back facing the younger. He shakes his head and digs into the sheets. “You’re so annoying.”

Mingyu twitches. “It’s only nine in the morning and you’re already insulting me.” He comments bitterly and Wonwoo slowly turns around on the pillow to face the younger. His raven bangs are in his eyes and Mingyu roughly pushed them back.

“You’re so annoying.” Wonwoo repeats with a growl. “I’m trying to sleep. Shut your trap, will ya? Also, put on a damn shirt.”

Mingyu twitches again. “You’re really testing me.” He growls back and Wonwoo scoffs before going back to sleep. Annoyed, Mingyu gets up from the bed and heads towards the bathroom.

Wonwoo feels the bed lighten and the sink turn on. He yawns and sits up on his bed, scratching the back of his bed hair. He stretches and stumbles his way out of bed.

“Are you not wearing pants?” Mingyu says as he notices Wonwoo in nothing but a black oversized shirt that falls off his left shoulder.

“I have boxers on you .” Wonwoo answers with a lift of his large shirt that reveal short, black boxers. He pushes the younger over with his shoulder before grabbing his black toothbrush.

Mingyu scoffs. “Black suits your personality.”

“Shut up.”

They brush their teeth together in silence and Mingyu occasionally gets the toothpaste foam on Wonwoo’s thin wrists.

“Not only are you annoying but you’re also disgusting.”

“Not only are you cranky but you’re also whiney.”
