Deja vu

Crisscross (semi-hiatus)

Narrator's pov:

Beep beep beep beep beep.

Kyungsoo grumbled as his alarm went off.

It annoyed him when he didn't find his cellphone. Finally opening his eyes, he grabbed his phone and cancelled the alarm clock that kept beeping to make him wake up.

"7:17 AM." he yawned the hour displayed on his screen.

"A text message?" Kyungsoo asked, tapping on his screen to open the text message he got from Kai. "Morning Soo... Go to class alone today. I took the elevator and it got stuck." he read, tilting his head to the side. "I won't make it because the security guard hasn't arrived even till now."

Kyungsoo could feel his best friend's annoyance through the text message, making him feel bad for being stuck.

'He'll keep himself busy with his cellphone.' Kyungsoo nodded to himself, crawling out of bed to start a new day after he threw his phone on the bed.

The college student walked to his bathroom after turning on the TV, still half asleep, to freshen himself up.

"Yesterday evening, a fire broke out because a child was left alone at home. Both parents had to work with no one to keep an eye on the child. Only four years old and alone at home, he started playing inside the kitchen. The police suspects that the boy of four burned a kitchen towel and the fire started to spread when the flames touch other things. The boy is in critical condition at the intensive care." a news reporter said, a few images of a burned house and the photo of the little boy showing on the screen.

Kyungsoo shook his head lightly. He didn't understand how the boy could have been left alone and such a tragic thing could happen.

'At least lock the kitchen door and make sure everything dangerous is out of his reach. It musn't have been easy for the parents either to leave a child all alone at home.'

It was then that Kyungsoo tilted his head to the side, looking in front of him in a confused state;

"Why...does this feel so familiar?" he muttered to himself. "Something like this must have happend before." Kyungsoo eventually nodded, taking that as a good excuse to not think too much in the morning.

"A car accident happend this morning around 6AM on the national highway. A traffic jam is to be expected with a delay of thirthy minutes."

'Another car accident? There have been so many car accidents lately.'

Kyungsoo walked out of the bathroom, all freshened up, hair combed to the left side and finally completely awake.

"Tomorrow, there will be a charity concert to gather money for children of poor families and orhpans. The concert will start at 7PM and tickets will be sold online and at the venue itself."

'Is this the first edition of this charity event?'

The young man shook his head and grabbed the remote to turn the TV off, a yawn escaping him.

"I better hurry up." he muttered to himself and grabbed his bag before leaving his appartment, ready to go to morning class.

"Good morning." one of the grandmothers living in the neighborhood greeted Kyungsoo.

"Good morning." he said back, giving the old lady a warm smile. It was a habit he had whenever he went outside. There were many old people living in his neighborhood and they woke up too early for Kyungso to understand. But whenever he saw someone, a 'good morning' was like a ritual carvedin his being.

When he finally reached the big intersection, he stopped his track, waiting patiently for the light to jump to a walking green man.

"Mommy, I want hot chocolate." a little girl pouted because her mother didn't buy one for her, pulling on her mother's floral dress.

Kyungsoo heard her and looked at the little girl.

"Sweetie, we don't have time for that now. You have to go to school and mommy has to work. " the girl's mother sighed, looking on her watch while her right foot tapped the ground impatiently.

The little girl, hair pulled in twin pigtails, pouted her lips even more.

"It's green, let's go, sweetie." the mom said, pulling her daughter with her to cross the intersection.

Kyungsoo did as well, moving to the left to avoid people busy with reading something on their phones and then moving to the right again to dodge group of high school girls.

"Auw."

The young man stopped and looked down, finding a grandfather who had felt because of weak and wobbly legs.

"Are you alright?" Kyungsoo quickly asked, bending down to help him stand up again.

"Ooh... T-thank you, young man." the grandfather smiled gratefully, doing his best to keep his balance. "Thank you s-so much."

"I'll help you cross the street. Let's go." Kyungsoo offered, holding out his arm so that the grandfather could support himself on Kyungsoo.

"What a nice young lad you are." the grandfather chuckled.

Kyungsoo continued walking, finally reaching the campus building.

"Library first." he nodded to himself, going into the direction of the campus' library which was on the ground floor.

Kyungsoo searched for some books that could come in handy for his paper assignment on Napoleon's battle in Waterloo, the place where he was defeated. As a world history student, he had to do many projects and assignments of different parts of the world of different time periods as well.

Though he wasn't a very good student, he did find it interesting. History class had always been a fun subject for him, ever since middle school.

"These please." Kyungsoo spoke softly, shoving the books over the white desk.

A middleaged woman, maybe around his forties, nodded and scanned the books so that they were rented out in the system.

"Want a bag?" the woman asked, Kyungsoo shaking his head.

"No. Thanks." he said, picking up two books and walking off so that the next one in line could get his books scanned.

'I can't forget about the interview later.' Kyungsoo reminded himself before hurrying to his classroom.

"How was being stuck in the elevator?" Kyungsoo asked his best friend.

"Horrible. It took so long for them to get that thing moving again." he hissed, showing his annoyance. "Luckily I had my cellphone with me, or I would already have been bored to death before dying from lack of oxygen."

"You're being dramatic." Kyungsoo laughed.

Kai scoffed, shaking his head.

"You try being stuck in an elevator. I think I'll take the stairs in the future." Kai shuddered. "I don't think I even dare to take the elevator anymore." he added, fanning himself with his hand.

"A few stairs won't hurt you. You're a sporty guy anyways." Kyugnsoo shrugged, Kai sighing in fake sadness because his best friend didn't seem to worry so much about him being stuck and having the chance to have died if the elevator decided to drop.

"Oh, nice bracelet. Where did you buy it?" Kai asked, changing the subject.

Kyungsoo looked at his right wrist and smiled.

"It was in the box mom send me. It's a gift from her. Ah, I should still thank her for it! I'll make call later."

'Wait...I still haven't called her...? I really can't forget it again.'

"Your mom send a package?!" Kai beamed.

"Come over tomorrow to get some food because I have the interview later. And get your own containers. You stole so many from me." Kyungsoo said, giving Kai a glare.

"They disappeared." Kai shrugged his shoulders, pretending to be innocent.

Kyungsoo snorted.

"Maybe the box fairy took them." Kai grinned.

"Did that fairy leave some money behind?"

Kai shook his head.

"Exactly. So if you don't bring your own food containers, then there will be no food for you."

"Don't threaten me with food, that's just plain mean."

Kyungsoo shrugged his shoulders, scribbling random circles on a piece of paper.

"By the way, I feel really strange today." Kyungsoo sighed, throwing his pen back in his pencase.

"How so?" Kai asked with a raised eyebrow.

"I have a strange feeling like... Like I already heard or saw things I thought I did so before?"

Kai hummed, taking his bottle of water to take a sip from it.

"Isn't that a deja vu?"

Kyungsoo's eyes largened, his head bobbing up and down when he heard his best friend's words.

"Right! Exactly! It feels like I'm in a state of having deja vu's." the young man said, a bit too loud which make him smile sheepishly at his fellow students.

"Just a feeling, don't bother about it. Must have been in a dream or something." Kai muttered, shurgging his shoulders.

"Guess so." Kyungsoo nodded lightly, trying to push that strange feeling away from him.

"Thank you for making some time for me." Kyungsoo thanked the older person sitting across him, a gentle smile playing on his lips.

"Don't worry about it. I hope I can give you more information for your paper." he said, sipping from his lemon tea.

I too, took a sip from my ginger tea before clearing my throat, taking out a pen and paper.

"Why does this tea taste so familiar? I never came her before though? Another deja vu?'

"You know who Napoleon was, right?" the man asked, Kyungsoo giving a quick nod, pulled out of his thoughts.

"Yes. He was a French political leader who crowned himself emperor, right?"

The man nodded, taking another sip from his tea before starting.

"The Battle of Waterloo happend in a small country called Belgium, back then still land of the Netherlands, in Europe. He was utterly defeated in the end and that's why as a remembrance of Napoleon and his army being defeated, a large lion stands in Waterloo, as it was a symbol of courage and was also found on the personal coat of arms from the monarch of the Netherlands. It stands on top of a green hill and you can see the place that was once a battlefield. Aside the Lion's Mound, there is also a museum which you can visit. Though it may be a little too far for you?"

Kyungsoo smiled sheepishly, nodding his head.

"Yeah... I don't think I have the time or the money to travel to the other side of the world." he chuckled.

"Hahaha... I can understand that. I have some things from the museum back home. Maybe I can copy some for you."

"Oh, that would be awesome, thank you!"

"No need, no need. Everything to help you." the man said before continuing his story.

Dead tired, Kyungsoo entered his appartment, dropping himself on his couch, a big yawn escaping him.

"Hello? Yes, one portion fried chicken and some baked potato wedges." Kyungsoo said, having dialed the fried chicken restaurant.

"I should get some fermented cabbage too!" he hummed, going to his fridge to take out the container that was filled with the cabbage.

'Didn't I eat this yesterday too...? But I only opened mom's package yesterday and alte too...'

He shook the thoughts off of him and settled back in his couch. Zapping away from the news, he finally decided to eat while watching a variety show.

"Is it already 11PM? I really should sleep." Kyungsoo gasped, dropping the chicken bones and box in the trash bin.

In a fast pace, he brushed his teeth, took a nice hot shower and changed into his pajamas.

"Hmm... I'll call mom tomorrow." he muttered to himself, closing his eyes and dozing off.

'I really can't forget to call her!'

---

Beep beep beep beep beep.

Kyungsoo's eyes snapped open, meeting his ceiling.

He grabbed his phone and cancelled the alarm clock that kept beeping to make him wake up.

"7:17 AM...?" he asked, the hour displayed on his screen. "Is it coincidence that I woke up at this hour yesterday?"

"A text message?" Kyungsoo asked, tapping on his screen to open the text message he got from Kai.

'Another text message from Kai?'

"Morning Soo... Go to class alone today. I took the elevator and it got stuck." he read, his voice reading it more quickly when he felt he definitely read this text message just yesterday. "I won't make it because the security guard hasn't arrived even till now."

'This isn't right... Did he get stuck in the elevator again? Is it a deja vu again?'

Kyungsoo shook his head, ruffling his hair with his hands before crawling out of bed to go to his living room to turn on the TV. The news channel jumped up and he sayed in front of his screen.

Kyungsoo shook his head furiously, his eyes showing confusion. He didn't understand how he could remember seeing this news already.

"Didn't this news just air yesterday morning?" he asked, slowly getting more creeped out by this strange feeling of knowing what was going to happen. "Why...does this feel so familiar?" he muttered to himself.

"A car accident happend this morning around 6AM on the national highway. A traffic jam is to be expected with a delay of thirthy minutes."

'Another car accident?!'

"Tomorrow, there will be a charity concert to gather money for children of poor families and orhpans. The concert will start at 7PM and tickets will be sold online and at the venue itself."

'Shouldn't this concert be today...? It can't be... I'm almost sure the news announced yesterday that today would be the charity concert!'

The young man grabbed his head and shook furiously, trying to wake himself up, but he only came to the realization that he wasn't in a dream and that he was definitely awake.

"Let's go to the campus first..." Kyungsoo nodded to himself, wanting to ignore the odd feeling inside him that was only getting stronger and stronger.

"I better hurry up." he muttered to himself and grabbed his bag before leaving his appartment, ready to go to morning class.

When he finally reached the big intersection, he waited for the light to turn green.

"Mommy, I want hot chocolate." Kyungsoo snapped his head to the little girl, his heart skipping a beat.

"Sweetie, we don't have time for that now. You have to go to school and mommy has to work. " the girl's mother sighed. "It's green, let's go, sweetie." the mom said, pulling her daughter with her to cross the intersection.

'This definitely happend yesterday... The girl is wearing the same outfit and has twin ponytails...!'

"Move." someone grumbled, pushing Kyungsoo a bit with his shoulder because the college student wasn't moving to cross.

"Auw."

The young man looked in front of him with narrowed eyes, finding a grandfather who had felt because of weak and wobbly legs.

'It's the same grandpa...!'

No one helped him, making Kyungsoo quickly run over to give him a hand.

"Are you alright?" Kyungsoo quickly asked, bending down to help him stand up again.

"Ooh... T-thank you, young man." the grandfather smiled.

The first thing he did was walk towards the library. He didn't go search for the books he needed though because he was sure he rented them yesterday.

"Excuse me, can I ask something?" he politely asked the lady behind the computer.

A middleaged woman, maybe around her forties, nodded and waited for him to continue.

"Can you check for me if I have books I have to return?"

"Sure. Can I have yuor student card?" the woman asked, Kyungsoo giving her his student id.

It was quiet aside the clicking of the computer's mouse.

"You don't have any books to return. So don't worry about being late. "the woman smiled, giving the card back.

'I definitely took them with me, then why is everything clean in the system?!'

"Thanks." he said, trotting out of the college's library.

Terribly confused, he sat down on a random chair, looking down on the ground.

'This can't be happening! Am I giong crazy? Am I dead?'

"Kyungsoo, aren't you going to class?" a fellow student asked, making the young man nod absentminded, barely looking inf ront of him to make his way towards the classroom.

He couldn't pay attention whatsoever.

The young man already had this class before and he knew everything the professor was talking about.

Not only that, he was getting a headache from thinking and trying to keep his cool and not freak out in the middle of class.

'This can't be a hidden camera...right?'

"You're not going to ask me how it was to be stuck in an elevator?" Kai asked, feeling sad that Kyungsoo looked out of it and didn't pay attention to him. "Horrible. It took so long for them to get that thing moving again." he hissed. "Luckily I had my cellphone with me, or I would already have been bored to death before dying from lack of oxygen."

"You're being dramatic." Kyungsoo said monotone.

Kai scoffed, shaking his head.

"You try being stuck in an elevator. I think I'll take the stairs in the future." Kai shuddered. "I don't think I even dare to take the elevator anymore." he added.

"Kai...? Which date are we today?"

Kai looked at Kyungsoo with raised eyebrows, confused why he would ask something like this.

"We're May first... Why?"

"May first? It's definitely May first?" Kyungsoo asked, Kai sighing as he showed him his phone calendar, pointing to the date.

"What's your problem? Scared for the deadline?" Kai asked.

Kyungsoo shook his head, waving his hand in the air.

"Oh, nice bracelet. Where did you buy it?" Kai asked, changing the subject.

Kyungsoo looked at his right wrist and widened his eyes a bit.

"It was in the box mom send me... It's a gift."

'I still haven't calle dmom yet.'

"Your mom send a package?!" Kai beamed.

Kyungsoo merely nodded, not saying a word more.

"I'm coming over tomorrow for food!" Kai grinned, clapping his hands because he was happy to eat the food Kyungsoo's mom made.

"Whatever..."

That evening, he went to have an interview with someone to help his assignment. Just like he remembered, everything that prson said were words he already heared before.

He tried to keep acting normal but honestly, he was freaking out.

Dead tired, Kyungsoo entered his appartment, dropping himself on his couch.

"Hello? Yes, one pizza spicy chicken, please." Kyungsoo said, having dialed another delivary restaurant.

After eating, the young man looked at the time, planning to stay awake to see if he would repeat the same day again. Prepared, he kept watching TV, making sure he wouldn't fall asleep.

Chapter 8: Sht, I forgot to comment, remembered now that you updated >< sorry
Anyway, I wonder how Kyungsoo figured out things so quickly, he's quite witty XD I mean, from what I've read so far, he catches on things quickly, else, I cannot explain how he figured out some things already. Also, I must say that I pity Kai lol poor guy, he got stuck in the elevator every day (well, the same day, but you get me) and had to deal with Soo's ramblings more than once. I'm kind of glad he doesn't remember a thing lol (he's currently my favorite character just because he's a dumbo)

HELLO mysterious lady, guess you're the reason Soo's going crazy huh
AND DUNDUNDUN omg finally, but how can you end it like thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat

Thank you for updating! ^^

Chapter 4: "OW EM GEE!"
I laughed. That line. Was not expecting it.
And thank the gods for google, Soo, else, you might have had only Kai's explanation and he's too dumb to be trusted XD seriously tho, those two. If I were Kai, I'd thinkg Soo was nuts too. Now I wonder what will Soo do... Hopefully, nothing too drastic x_x aka no, don't kill yourself Soo, please.

Thank you for updating :D

/spoiler alert

AND IT JUST HIT ME. IF SOO WILL WANT TO SAVE THAT KID OR SOMETHING OR SAVE ANYTHING BEFORE IT HAPPENS, IT WILL BE JUST LIKE THAT SHOW I WATCHED AS A KID WITH TOMORROW'S PAPER XD IT WAS SUCH A FUN SHOW

(oh, btw, why did you choose to call Kai, Kai, and not Jongin? /curious/ btw you wrote "Kyungsoo and Do chatted" LOL)
