*** “take this” My step mother cold voice stop me from grabbing an apple from the fruit refrigerator as I stare at her with confused eyes and she roll her eyes at my lack of response, pushing the picnic basket towards me, “take this with you and deliver it to our new tenant”. Oh I thought she’ve finally blown her insanity and went crazy seeing the way she nicely offer me a basket full of foods, a false alarm I guess. But wait,
“new tenant? We have a new tenant?” I asked, lifting an eyebrow as I watch her gulping her glass of cognag. This woman was more and more becoming an alcoholic addict each days towards her daughter birthday, won’t she felt happy that her daughter would crowned soon?. But well, its not my concern!, the sooner Nara’s crowned, sooner she moves into the new Royal palace, then I could at least breath freely without her sneering at me each time she sees me,
My step mother sigh at my question before look at me with her thick lashed eyes, a bit annoyed at my chirpy mouth -usually I just nods and run the errand without further question-, “yes, haven't you heard of the rumour of a warewolves spotted in the wood this past few days?” she started and I nods my head. What did it have anything to do with the new tenant? Unless,
“the council suspicious that our mansion in the woods tenant and this warewolf were the same person”, I gasped at my step mother then whip my head towards the food basket,
“this poisonous isn’t it?” I ask with a slight shaky voice and my step mother lift an eyebrow. And with that, I get my answer right away,
I knew that council bastards was territorial over our land and all but I've never knew they could be this vile!, trying to kill an innocent person -I know vampires and warewolves didn't have that much of a good relationship to each other but its already in the past and this is too much!-, not only they’re bastards, they also a cowards now I see, using a cheap trick like this. Speaking of cheap tricks,
“you’re sending me, hoping for that warewolf to eat me aren’t you?” I stated flatly. Her eyes widened slightly in surprise for a second before scoffed after she regained her self control back, confirming my suspicious of her actual plan,
I knew it, I always know that she searching for a perfect moment to get rid of me, but the momment has never came. Now that there’s a rumour of a wild untamed warewolves roaming around in the woods, she just came and offer me to be a sacrificial lamb for the council, or if the rumour turn out to be false, she could just go around saying its me that kill the poor tenant. But she didn’t confirm it nor deny it, she just wave her hand to shoo me away and going back to pour herself another shot of cognag from the crystal bottle in her free hand, “what are you spurting nonsense about, I just trying to be kind towards our tenant seeing how he rent our abandoned mansion in the time a rumour of warewolves roaming around,” she said casually, pausing for awhile before adding in the end “and I’ve never said about the foods being poisoned, so stop your wild imagination and go”,
I fell silent on my spot as we stay like that for a while, my apple left forgotten on my left hand as I watch this evil woman drank her alcohol until the double door that connected the dining room and this mini bar pushed open and seven boys that I’ve been try hard to avoid came stroll in along with Nara tailing behind them breaking the tension, they stop their chattering when they felt the thick atmosphere, realizing how I stay rigid with clenched teeth while sending cold stare at the old woman across the isle before shaking my head lightly with a bitter smirks on my lips as I grab the basket and bow,
“I hope you’re not gonna felt too dissapointed if I came back unscathed” I flatly stated before turn my back to walk out of the room, not sparing even a glance towards the boys that now watch me with bewilderness on their face.

 

*** Pulling on my hood again, my grips on Nox’s fur tighten as we walk deeper through the woods with the help of the moon light. Nox let out a light whine when he felt my tug on his fur at the back of his neck and I immediately jumped away, looking at the big black wolf as he stare at me with his watered eyes and I felt instantly guilty, “oh baby I'm sorry, did I hurt you?” I ask, reaching out to catch his ears and he whimper, leaning his big head more into my touch,
I was right when I thought he would camouflage perfectly into the darkness with his black fur, leaving only two glimming silver orbs reflecting the moon light above us,
“I think we’re almost there, what do you think Nox?” I casually ask again as we continue our walk. This mansion was one of the place owned by the Lee’s and the rumoured to be the place where my father hide my mom, I’ve been there a few times so I knew exactly where is it. But this is Nox’s first time and he shows an eager reaction when I told him where would we go,
No sign of warewolves or anything this far, or is it just really a mere rumour?
I’ve been read and told about the big war between the vampires and warewolves, been told how merciless they were towards the vampires they caught. But I’m not entirely a vampire though, would they spare me a more painless death?
