"Happy birthday to you~ Happy birthday to you~ Happy birhday dear Mark~ Happy birthday to you~"

"Go on, eat the cake." Mark's mother said with a smile.

A small cake with 6 candles on it sat in front of Mark. 

Mark smiled back "Okay!" He grabbed a piece with his fork and ate it.

"Do you like it?" She asked.

He nodded.

"I helped make it!" A voice shouted catching Mark's attention.

"You did not." Another voice said. 

"I did too." The first responded. 

"Mom, who are those people?" Mark asked pointing at two kids standing near the back of the room.

"What people?" She replied looking in the same direction.

Mark furrowed his brows and pointed again "Those people!" He exclaimed.

"Honey, there's no one there." She said.

"But.." Mark was confused, he clearly saw two kids standing next to the wall so why couldn't his mom?

The boy waved to him as the girl smiled.

Mark frowned and looked towards his mom.

"Why don't we open presents now?" She asked.

Mark nodded happily. He forgot all about the odd kids.

A few years later:  

"Do you think he remembers us?" 

Two figures sat watching a 10 year old Mark playing with his friends.

"I don't know."

"He probably thinks we were his imagination." The first sighed out.

"Probably, he was the only one that could see us." The second agreed.

"Do you think he's ready?" The first asked.

"Not yet." The second muttered, smiling when Mark pouted at losing the game.

They both tensed when Mark glanced in their direction and seemed to be focusing on them until one of his friends caught his attention again. 

They were gone the next time Mark looked over.

Other: I know this is different then how I usually do it but I wasn't going to continue this and it was too short to be a one shot so I thought since it was an idea I could just put it here? I hope you guys don't mind ^^ (I really wasn't going to continue it. This was just something that popped into my head and I'll stop talking now...)
