“I’m your new sister.. Shin Seolhyun.”

Chapter 4

Hearing the word “sister” slipped out from the stranger’s mouth made her hatred grow bigger. She pushed the younger girl harshly making the younger flinched with a pained-yet-confused look running in her face.

‘I thought she likes me?’ Seolhyun thought.

Fortunately Seolhyun could still equilibrate herself.

After staring deeply at the younger’s eyes, like transferring something through her eyes (that Seolhyun herself couldn’t understand what it was) Hyejeong broke the eye contact and without muttering a single word, she left the younger girl standing alone, unspoken.

Later that night..

After done organizing her things in her new bedroom, Seolhyun sat on the edge of her bed and sighed in tiredness while her eyes wondering further to the wall that led her to the glass door which divided the bedroom and the balcony. She smiled as she was able to see a shining full moon through the slightly opened curtains. She decided to go outside the balcony.

The night was getting colder as it almost reached midnight. But Seolhyun could only do nothing but enjoyed it. She felt all her burdens, her sadness, worries, and loneliness were being taken away by the wind, sending it to heaven- letting her family up there know how she felt. She wanted to cry, but as her current life snapped her out from her miserable past,

She changed her mind. She felt thankful for what she had now. A good shelter, enough food, and a nice family. But recalling back what had happened that noon between her and her new unnie made her sad. She didn’t know being treated like that hurt her more than when she used to be scolded by her mom. Because all this time when her sister was still alive, never once her sister treated her like that.

She had imagined, being a member in a new family would (somehow) make her life easier and brighter.. she had trusted the Shin parents for guaranteeing the happy life, but they lied. They said their daughter would be happy for her presence.. for having a new sister like her in the family. But then, what happened to their daughter?
