The Time Traveller
"She will.....our....."

"Send.....away."

"Go, go, go!!!!!"

Lynn jolted up, her eyes wide open as she saw a hand in front of her, swaying side to side to see if she was awake. Blinking rapidly, she immediately recognised the presence, and she allowed her eyes to droop down again, pushing the person's hand away whilst muttering annoyedly, "Don't ruin my sleep, Jeon Jungkook."

She heard a small chuckle tingling in her ears as he poked her back playfully, "Class has ended already, it's lunch now. Come on, sleepyhead, the rest are waiting for us."

Rather unwillingly, Lynn slowly pulled her body up to stand, still incredibly fatigued as she had not been able to sleep last night. Indeed, she needed to change her sleeping habits, and stop staying up late to watch those terribly cliché yet addictive romance dramas, otherwise she was on the pathway to failure.

The pair soon arrived at the school's cafeteria, and immediately spotted the rowdy group of boys, fooling around happily, as normal teenagers would be. Lynn had no idea how she managed to become friends with these bunch of idiots, especially being the only girl in the group.

She caught the eyes of many other envious females, as her group of friends were all handsome, bright boys whom many girls fell for. But for Lynn? No, it was not like that; her relationship with them was purely platonic. They were like her own kin, her brothers; she wouldn't want to change a thing.

As she took her seat next to Jin, he immediately took out a burger he had bought for her earlier, and unwrapped it neatly for her. Lynn smiled warmly; Jin was the most brotherly of them all, he always took care of her, even the smallest things, like food, health and class work, but he also nagged her a lot as well, just like a normal brother would do. Yet...even so, she couldn't quite pinpoint why there was always something off about the kindest of the group.

"I heard you slept in class again today." Jin said plainly, but she could hear the hint of worry and anxiousness in his voice. Her eyes immediately narrowed at Jungkook, who was currently busy talking to Jimin and Taehyung.

She turned back to see Jin's expectant face, awaiting for an answer. She smiled guilty and scratched her head, "I was trying really hard to listen to the teacher! But he just kept going on and on about Ancient Greece and I just suddenly felt so, so sleepy and then, I was gone! But hey, at least nobody caught me and I didn't get in trouble! Right, Jin?"

She suddenly burst with excitement, and rambled on a little too much. Lynn had a weird personality, she was always a little too happy, optimistic and talkative. But to the boys, it was adorable and it was funny to see a petite girl like her spew so much out of .

Jin chuckled and shook his head, "Just try not to sleep again next time. Sleep is for night time, Lynn."

Lynn pouted a little bit, and somehow let a sigh of relief as Jin turned his focus away to the rest of the boys. Lynn felt the fatigue finally wearing off, as she returned to her normal self. She was only ever grumpy when she was awoken, normally, she was just an ordinary, cheerful teenager.

Chewing on her beef burger, lunch time soon ended after talking excitedly with the rest of the crew.  As she threw the rubbish away and started to leave, goosebumps rose on the back of her neck as she felt Jin's intense stare from behind. She couldn't help but feel a little self-conscious and anxious. Even though she normally acted as cheerful to him as to the others, she still felt a twinge of uncomfort.

With her extremely sensitive hearing, she could hear him mutter softly, "It's time, it's time now."

It was during times like these where she felt like Jin wasn't like the Jin she knew at all. She would often catch his eyes linger on hers a little too long, or sometimes hear his soft, nonsensical mutters that sent shivers down her spine. It was indeed creepy and unlike him, but she didn't want to think of him like that. He was anything but kind to her, so...what was she getting paranoid about?

It was dark when Lynn walked home by herself, she had been too preoccupied at school after catching up with some homework at the library, and had completely misread the time.

And it had to be her luck, the sky started to rumble angrily, and in came the drips of rain, pouring down as if they had a grudge on the girl. Sighing, Lynn gingerly pulled up her hoodie, and started to quicken her pace. Only ten more minutes to go, and she would be safe and sound, back in her cosy and warm haven at home.

Bang!

Lynn felt an impact hit her on her right side, as she stumbled back a few steps. Cocking her head to the right, an opened umbrella was left on the ground next to her. Immediately,  she turned her head back to see who had left it, and she caught a glimpse of a tall, male stature swiftly walking away, disappearing into the distance.

Bewildered, Lynn took the umbrella next to her, pulling it up so she was safe from the rain. Remembering that moment their shoulders had bumped into each other's, Lynn felt a wave of familiarity radiate through her.

What was that?

Her phone buzzed, knowing it was from her parents, she promptly forgot about the strange feeling and hastily found her way back home. It wasn't safe for a girl like her in such a merciless night like this.

"I'm home," the black-haired girl announced, as her big, doe brown eyes searched to find her parents. Immediately, she saw her father setting up the dinner table, and her mother finishing up cooking in the kitchen.

Her father was Chinese, mother was Korean, so she was a mix of them both, fluent in both languages.

They were a simple family of three, spending rather mundane but fulfilling lives. Her father was a chemist at a shop down town, whereas her mother worked at a business firm as a financial consultant.

"Where's your pendant?" her mother asked as she ushered her daughter down to sit, giving her a bowl filled mountain-full of rice.

Lynn stuffed into a spoon of rice, and said in a muffled tone, "Right here," and pulled it out of her pocket in her jacket.

It was a habitual thing in the family, her parents took great importance in this beautiful gold pendant they had given to her when she was seven. From then onwards, they made sure she would never lose it by reminding her to bring it with her in the morning to wherever she went, and then again at night, clarifying she hadn't lost it during the day.

They never told her the significance of this pendant though, all they had ever said was that she were to never lose it, otherwise, there would be horrific consequences.

Lynn never understood it as a child, nor did she as a teenager, even now. One thing she did know, was that this pendant held many, many mysterious secrets.
