It’s that time of year again. Time for family, snow, presents, and time for elves to get back to work. Chanyeol was in the toy factory and was supposed to be building nut crackers but instead was staring doe-eyed at Baekhyun who was sitting over at the plushie station, sewing an ear on a stuffed puppy. The way the glitter on his cheeks sparkled in the light was beautifully blinding. The concentration on his face when he was sewing was too adorable. And the way he kept having to pull up his hat since it was too big was just too cute Chanyeol didn’t know if he could handle himself.

“At least we’re not in the tinsel factory this year” Jongdae admitted.

“I know. I had nightmares about tinsel straggling me for ages” Baekhyun said pushing his hat up again.

“Maybe you should swap hats with one of the other elves” 

“I already asked everyone but no one will trade with me” Baekhyun pouted. Jongdae looked up and wiped off the sweat on his forehead when he noticed a weird looking elf staring in their direction. He followed his gaze which led straight to Baekhyun.

“I think some elf likes you~” Jongdae sang with a wicked grin on his face.

“Huh? Who?” Baekhyun asked pushing his hat up once again. Baekhyun followed to where Jongdae was pointing at. The elf was staring wide-eyed at him shocked before looking down and getting back to work. Baekhyun knew he had seen him before, but didn’t know where. Baekhyun shrugged giving up.

 

“Wait, look at his ears. He must be pure elf” Baekhyun said noticing the elfs ears. Jongdae looked at his ears and gasped.

“There aren’t many of them around. Since he’s pure he can pick any station he wants. He’s so lucky!” Jongdae complained.

“But i wonder why he chose to work at the nutcracker station. I would of chose to work in the animal factory with all those cute puppies” Baekhyun imagined himself surrounded by all types of cute little puppies.

“I would like to work at the naughty and nice station” Jongdae said.

“What’s his name?” Baekhyun asked Jongdae curiously. Jongdae just shrugged.

 

“Maybe Kyungsoo would know” he said before pulling out his gingerbread shaped phone and calling kyungsoo. After a few minutes Kyungsoo walked into the factory and walked over to Baekhyuns and Jongdaes station. 

“You called me? I was in the middle of painted the red stripes on the candy canes” he told them.

“You get to work in the sweet factory! No fair~ Wait red stripes? I thought candy canes were red with white stripes. This is zebras all over again” Jongdae pouted. Baekhyun laughed at his bestfriend. Kyungsoo rolled his eyes.

“What do you want?” he asked.

“Do you know who that elf is over there?” Baekhyun asked pointing to the pure elf who was staring at him before.

“Oh. That’s Chanyeol. I wonder why he chose to work in the nutcracker station” Kyungsoo wondered.

“Yeah, anyway, since you get to work in the yummiest factory this year can you bring over some gingerbread cookies~” Jongdae attempted aegyo. It was a complete fail.

“Jongdae i work at the candy cane station not the cookie station” Kyungsoo huffed, feeling annoyed.

“Candy canes are good too” Jongdae smiled innocently.

“Fine” Kyungsoo gave up before stomping out of the factory. Jongdae continued complaining about how unlucky they were to get chosen for that station while Baekhyun continued to stuff and sew.

Oh my gosh! They’re all looking at me! Why are they all looking at me?! Chanyeols thoughts screamed. He could feel the heat covering his face as he could feel their eyes on him. He tried as hard as he could to stay focused on his work and not think about it.

“Kyungsoo is totally checking me out right now” Jongin chimed. Chanyeol finally looked up just in time to see Jongin winking at Kyungsoo who rolled his eyes at him before turning around and talking to Baekhyun and some other elf.

“Woah! You know your face is the same colour at Rudolphs nose, right?” Jongin told him. Chanyeol hid his face, trying to calm himself down. Once he knew it was safe to show his face again he looked up. Kyungsoo left and Baekhyun was back to work again. 

 

“Your not going to get any work done if you keep staring at him all day” Jongin stated. Chanyeol had barely made any progress since he was so distracted. Baekhyun looked up and was looking straight at Chanyeol and smiled. Chanyeol couldn’t stop the blush in his cheeks and looked back down. He dipped the brush in blue and started adding paint to the hat. 

“Is he the reason why you chose not to work in the decoration factory at the baubles station?” Jongin asked as he started shaping the wood into an arm.

“Yes” Chanyeol smiled.

“Wait...is that why you worked at the tinsel station last year?” Jongin asked remembering last year. 

“You worked there too” Chanyeol reminded him.

“Only because you dragged me along” 

They always seemed get get tangled up in the tinsel and as they had to work late nights, they would wake up with the side of their face covered in it.

“He probably doesn’t even know who i am” 

“He should know you by now. You’ve only been following him around since forever”

 

Their break time finally came. Chanyeol and Jongin walked to the cafeteria and started waiting in line as they watched all the elves from the sweet factory leaving the cafeteria and going back to their factory to start work again. Once they recieved their trays and they went to sit down at an empty table. Chanyeol looked down and his lips. Milk and cookies and a mini christmas pudding, which is what they ate everyday when they had to work for christmas. Jongin and Chanyeol started eating straight away. They missed the christmas food since when they didn’t work they were on diets the rest of the year eating fruit and vegetables. Just thinking about it made Chanyeol feel queezy.

“Here’s your stupid candy canes. Don’t ask me for any more it was hard enough to sneak them here” Kyungsoo handed them each a few candy canes. Jongdaes face lit up.

“Thanks so much kyungie~” Jongdae had already started on the sweet christmassy treat. Kyungsoo left and they were looking for empty seats.

“Hey, there’s that elf who was spying on you this morning” Jongdae pointed over to Chanyeol and Jongdae.

“He wasn’t spying on me. He was probably thinking i was weird because my hat kept falling down” 

“Let’s go sit with them” Baekhyun didn’t really have a choice as Jongdae practically dragged him and shoved him in the seat opposite of Chanyeol. 

 

Chanyeol looked up and almost choked on his pudding when he saw baekhyun sitting in front of him. His face turned red and Baekhyun giggled at the sight thinking it was cute. Jongdae and Jongin were complaining about work. Baekhyun placed a candy cane on Chanyeols tray before dunking a cookie in milk and nibbling on it. 

“Kyungsoo snuck some for us” Baekhyun smiled.

“Thanks” Chanyeol muttered nervously.

“Can i ask you something?”

“Sure”

“Your a pure elf,right?” Baekhyun asked. Chanyeol nodded in reply.

“Then why are you working at the nutcracker station... or did you choose it because you actually like working there?” he asked. Chanyeol thought for a moment as he tried to think of a smart answer but nothing came to him so he went with the embarrassing truth.

“It’s not bad working there but i only chose that station b-because... y-you work in that factory a-and i-”

“Wait... you chose to work there because of me?”

“Yes. I-i’m not st-stalker or anything” Chanyeol blurted.

“Thats really sweet” Baekhyun blushed. Chanyeol mind went insane at the sight of baekhyun blushing, that a silly sheepish smile spread across his lips which only made Baekhyun giggle at his cuteness. Baekhyun noticed Chanyeols eye twitching slightly and tried to bite back a smile.

 

“Have we ever worked in the same station? I feel like i’ve met you before” 

“I worked in the tinsel station with you last year. But it would of been hard to remember me. There are always lots of elves working at that station.” Chanyeol told him. Baekhyun suddenly burst out laughing.

“Are you two the ones that always got tangled in the tinsel somehow?” he asked. Chanyeol bit his lips embarrassed and nodded.

“I definitely remember you”

“I chose to work there because of you again” Chanyeol admitted.

“Where do you actually want to work though?”

“At the bauble station”

“Then why don’t you?”

“Because you don’t work there” At those words Baekhyun heart pounded so hard he could hear it beating in his chest loudly, he thought it might explode. He stared at Chanyeol in surprised and admiration. He felt like grabbing Chanyeol by the collar and kissing him until his lips went numb. 

“You don’t think i’m weird...do you?” Chanyeol asked as Baekhyun had been staring at him for a while. Baekhyun shook his head and smiled.

“I don’t think your weird at all. It’s just that no one has ever done something so sweet just to be around me” Chanyeol smiled at his reply.

 

“I couldn’t help but notice the sparkles on your cheeks. Are you both part fairy?” Jongin interrupted. Baekhyun turned to Jongin.

“Yes, we are. But most elves are part fairy now a days” Baekhyun replied.

“So, Kyungsoo must be part fairy then”

“Yes, he is” Jongdae joined in.

“But i heard your a pure elf like Chanyeol. Why aren’t your ears pointy?”

“Jongdae that is so rude... but why aren’t they?” Baekhyun asked intrigued.

“I was born before i was due. I was also born in summer that’s why i have dark skin” he answered. 

“I think your cheeks are the sparkliest!” Chanyeol blurted and instantly regretted it. Baekhyun giggled.

“I think your ears are the most elf-like” Baekhyun smiled. Chanyeol blushed at the compliment.

 

“TO ALL TOY FACTORY ELVES. YOUR BREAK IS NOW OVER. PLEASE RETREAT BACK TO WORK.” The voice rang through the speakers. They got up and placed their trays on top of the pile at the end of the cafeteria. 

Baekhyun and Chanyeol walked back to the factory with their hands entwined and for the rest of the day they couldn’t help but get distracted and stared at each other.

The next day at lunch time Baekhyun was waiting in line when he felt his gingerbread men phone vibrate. He held it up to hear Chanyeols voice telling him he had already gotten his lunch for him. 

 

He walked over to them and sat in the same seat he sat in yesturday. Chanyeol smiled and pushed a tray in front of him.

“Thanks” he smiled.

“Have you written your wishlist to Santa yet?” Chanyeol asked.

“Yeol, you know we don’t get presents. We only make them” Baekhyun reminded him. Chanyeol blushed at the nickname Baekhyun gave him.

“But if we did. What would you want?” he asked curiously. Baekhyun thought seriously for a moment before smiling.

“For everyone to be happy on Christmas day” he said cheerfully. Chanyeol smiled noting at how adorable Baekhyun was.

Chanyeol looked over at Baekhyun who was stuffing another pikachu plushie. There are no rules saying we can’t give each other presents. But what should i get him, Chanyeol thought. He looked down and smiled at the nutcracker in front of him.

 

 

Baekhyun dazed over at Chanyeol who was concentrating really hard as he brushed a of paint over the nutcracker. Baekhyun had never seen Chanyeol concentrate so hard before. He smiled before remembering their conversation at break time. 

“But if we did. What would you want?” Chanyeol had asked Baekhyun about presents. Baekhyun had never received a present before. His parents had always told him that elves  never recieved them but were only supposed to make them. That was there job and no elf cared. All elves loved working for Santa.

 

“I heard some elf is getting you a present” Jongdae whispered. Baekhyun knew exactly who Jongdae was talking about.

“But why?” Baekhyun asked.

“I don’t know but i always thought he was a bit weird. Maybe all pure elves are like that” Jongdae wondered.

“Do you think i should get him something?” He thought of what he could get him but could only think of a stupid plushie which he really didn’t want to give to Chanyeol. He wanted to give him something meaningful.

“You could ask Kyungsoo to sneak some gingerbread cookie” Jongdae replied with a smirk.

“You only want them for yourself” Baekhyun laughed.

“You don’t know how badly i need them Baekhyun~” he cried.

“We could go and visit Kyungsoo later and you can sneak some cookies while i distract him” Baekhyun offered. He was nearly knocked off his chair when Jongdae hugged him tightly.

“I owe you my entire life” Jongdae said dramatically.

“Yeah until you want something else” Baekhyun muttered smiling.

Chanyeol was busy building nutcrackers and making Baekhyuns present and Baekhyun was busy thinking of what to get Chanyeol. Before they knew it Christmas day had arrived and they were all waiting around the giant christmas tree for Santa Claus to return home from his long journey around the world.

 

Chanyeol was no where to be seen. Baekhyun was hidding his hands behind his back holding his gift for Chanyeol. Suddenly every elf cheered. he looked up and saw Santa slowing landing his sleigh as the reighdeers parked safely. Mrs Claus ran over to welcome her husband back. 

 

Chanyeol surprised him as he popped up in front of him holding a nutcracker in front of his face. Baekhyun laughed and noticed that it resembled Chanyeol. 

“Thankyou. I can’t believe you did this. It’s so beautiful” Baekhyun smiled happily.

“I would do anything for you Baekhyun” Chanyeol confessed. Before Baekhyun knew what he was doing, he held up his arm, step on his tip toes and kissed Chanyeols lips. At first Chanyeol was shocked but slowly closed his eyes, happy that they finally shared their first kiss. When they parted Chanyeol smiled at what was in Baekhyuns hand. 

“Mistletoe”

“It’s our first kiss. I know its a silly gift but-” Baekhyun said shyly and blushed.

“It’s perfect, but you didn’t have to use mistletoe if you wanted to kiss me” Chanyeol smirked.

“I know but mistletoe makes it extra special” Baekhyun smiled. Chanyeol leaned down and cupped the sides on Baekhyuns face before pressing his lips against Baekhyuns, kissing him passionately.
