Temporarily Yes

Description

Temporarily Yes is a coming of age story about the temporary and constant things in life. Be it the uncanny friendship between Soo Hae and her abnormally tall bestfriend Zelo. Or the angelic smiling country bumpkin equivalent of the sirens in ancient Greek times stealing hearts here and there, Daehyun. And also, the passionate twins. Once gummy and twice cheeky, Yongguk and Yongnam. Who will win her heart? And what unlikely ship will sail from all this? Read and join Soo Hae as she struggles through the crippling stages of becoming an adult/veterinarian and finally getting a better understanding of herself and the complexity of growing up.

Foreword

I cross the street and hurriedly glide through the pedestrian lane with hands in my pocket and scarf warm against my cheeks. There is no snow, no rain, and no sun. Just the gentle moon illuminating the dark purple sky enough to keep it going.

I make it before the timer reaches 10 seconds and the cars press on their engines. So eager to leave and get out, but to go where... Who knows? In this city of lights, constant motion, and endless traffic. I shuffle my feet and look nowhere in particular. Lights fading into bubbles and heads blur from the smoke coming out of a manhole.

I glance at the cars and feel people start to crowd around me. The red light is about to change. I shift my head to look straight across from me and in that faintest second a blurry face just like the ones from before approaches. Jogging to the end of the street. I crane my neck and strain my eyes wondering why those aggressive brows, brown soulful eyes, and thick pink lips look so familiar. Then, like magic everything clicks. Those aggressive brows thick and dark relax, eyes into slits, and pearly whites peaking out as they gently wave a warm hello my way. Is this what people talk about? The feeling of their feet being physically glued to the floor just because of a smile and moment of attention coming their way?

The light changes and the crowd push through me like a herd of sheep. On a regular day I wouldn't be able to escape the brushes against my shoulders, but for some reason I am no longer on the sidewalk. I feel afloat, body on the ground, but feet light and dancing. I look ahead and it's just me and you. You, who is now half way down the pedestrian lane. Steps casual and light. Pearly whites still out and eyes playful. I blink and let the background of people turning into bubbles of light and smoke consume me.

You, who is now next to me stops moving, presence gravitating so heavily on my heart. You ruffle my hair and tower over me.

"Hey~ I was actually looking for you!" You say eyes striking and bright locking with mine.

My body still physically immobile, but mind afloat feels warm with the closeness of your voice. Deep, raspy, and kind. Your cheek protrudes and head slightly bends to meet mine. The gravity of your words feel light and gentle, but my soul knows better and I stare into your eyes before I reply.

"I have been too...but now I found you!"

You bend your head to the right, eyes curious and confused. I smile at your cluelessness and you look so confused that you start laughing. Oh, I love your laugh and that it's solely for me to see.

"I'm the one that found you, silly!" You say and with that single reply, my feet return to the ground and feel heavy against the concrete floor. Gravity pulling down on me making it harder to stand.

"Y--you did... Thank you~" I reply with your eyes growing big again in curiosity, but you offer a smile anyway. I guess it'll hit you later.

"Come this way~ I have to show you something!" You point back to where I came from and hold out your hand to me. I look at you and it's just you and me again. Everyone just bubbles of light and smoke. Dark and invisible against your excited eyes. And I take your hand not willing to let go. Because this was different. Different from how casual hellos feel or someone innocently leading me somewhere. There is something deeper that my body feels afloat with you. That my eyes see only us two and my soul connects with deep echoes of your voice. It's you isn't it? It's been you all this time.

Just a little excerpt of what's to come!!! This is my first ever multi-chaptered fic, so there will be a lot of hand holding and tears...mostly on my part. But, I hope other than enjoying another BAP fanfic, this story will relate and give people a sense of encouragement as they battle the hardships of their own lives. Enjoy and remember keep calm and swag on ^^
