Enjoy It

Yoongi knew he was staring, but he couldn’t help it. His daughter was dancing with his new… friend? …crush? …love interest? Whatever Jimin was. It was a wonderful sight. Especially since Jimin didn’t run the opposite direction when he realized who Areum was. It tugged at heartstrings that the blonde didn’t know he still had.

“You must be Yoongi,” said man was broken from his thoughts and staring by the purple haired man. “I am Kim Taehyung. Nice to meet you,” the boy said with his hand outstretched. As the blonde was shaking his hand, something suddenly caught the attention of the lavender haired man.

“Hyung!” he yelled, leaping toward Seokjin. *“I missed you so much, hyung. Why don’t you come to visit me anymore? You know you and Joonie-hyung are always welcome, so why? Why why why why?”* the boy whined, clinging to Jin like he would disappear any second. Said man only smiled amusedly at his step-brother.

*“I am so sorry that I work all the time Taehyung. And when I am not working, Nam is. Or we have plans. I promise I will come visit soon, ok?”* the elder said, hugging the younger boy back.

The boy sighed and released his brother, but then he saw Namjoon and latched himself to the unsuspecting man. *“Joonie-hyung. Drag him to visit soon ok?”*

Yoongi stood watching the interaction with disbelief. When Seokjin met his gaze, he cocked an eyebrow at the man and almost missed Jin’s subtle shake of his head.

“Ahem,” his attention was drawn away from the elder by the clearing of a throat behind him.

He turned around the see the third boy behind him, looking mildly distrusting.

“Hello. My name is Jeon Jungkook. Most people call me John because Jeon isn’t easy to say. However, you obviously speak Korean so you can call me Jungkook or Kookie. Your daughter has a talent for dancing. You should enroll her in classes if you haven’t already,” the boy said, his gaze no longer on the blonde but instead on his friend and the little girl. They were now dancing to T-ARA’s Sugar Free. It was Areum’s favorite song to sing. Especially in the grocery store when she saw something that said sugar free. Yoongi couldn’t help but wonder if Jimin and Areum were so alike that the man instinctually knew the little girl’s favorite songs.

“I’m Min Yoongi. Some people call me Suga, but only on stage so you can just call me Yoongi or hyung. Whichever,” the blonde said, not taking his eyes off of his daughter and… friend. The two had finally finished Sugar Free and the little girl fell on the ground giggling, but exhausted.

Jimin grabbed his water bottle and giggled when he helped the little girl take a drink from it. He laid down beside her and just stared contently. “Chimchim?” he heard the little girl whisper.

“Ne, Areum?” he whispered back.

“Will you make appa happy?” she asked, turning on her side so that she could look at the man. Jimin looked over the little girl’s body and saw the aforementioned man watching them. He made eye contact with him and said out loud, more for the father than for the little girl, “I would love to make him happy, Areum.”

Yoongi could feel his face heat up a little bit, but he knew it was visible thanks to his cursed complexion. He tried not to become too embarrassed and opted to just smirk at the younger. His thoughts were broken however, when Taehyung plopped down beside his daughter.

“You are a great dancer, Areum. You can call me Tae-oppa. Or Tae tae-oppa. Ok?” the man said, sitting cross legged in front of the little girl. Yoongi decided all of these introductions were exhausting, so he sat down behind his daughter. Moments later he looked around and noticed the six new and old friends were sitting in a circle around his daughter. Jimin was still laying down, but was now on his side facing the little girl. At his head was Taehyung, at his feet was Yoongi. Jungkook sat beside Taehyung, while Seokjin sat beside Yoongi with Namjoon sitting in between his legs.

“How do you guys know each other?” came a voice from behind Yoongi. The blonde craned his neck to get a look at the newcomer. “Hoseok?” he asked.

“The one and the only. Now tell me, how is it that my roommate and his two best friends know my best friend and his family? Wait! You,” he pointed to Jimin, “said you were going to go on a date last night. And you,” now pointing to Yoongi, “said you were going to meet a friend last night. Wait!” he cried holding his head in confusion.

“Just sit down before you hurt yourself,” Yoongi said, gesturing to the open area between the Kim couple and Jungkook.

“Appa?” came the voice of the little girl.

“Ne?” he said, now giving his full attention back to his daughter.

“Purple,” she said, her hand reaching out and patting Taehyung’s hair repeatedly.

“Yes, purple,” he responded smiling. The little girl looked at him and then back at the head she was patting. She did this repeatedly before standing up. She walked over to her father before patting his head repeatedly.

“Color,” she said, still patting his head. “You want me to change the color of my hair?” the father asked, looking at his daughter through his fringe.

“Ne,” she said, looking back to Taehyung and then her father.

“Do you want me to make it purple?” he asked curiously.

“Aniyo.”

“Then what color do you want my hair to be?” he asked, very curious now.

“Pink,” she said, now happy with herself and taking her seat back. Everyone’s eyes were staring at Yoongi in mild disbelief and amusement.

“Taehyung, did you dye your hair yourself?” the blonde asked.

“No, he is artistic, so I had him do it,” he said, throwing his thumb in Jungkook’s direction.

“If I buy the dye, will you dye my hair?” Yoongi said, now looking at the young boy.

“You cannot be serious,” Seokjin said from beside him.

“What? If she wants my hair to be pink, then pink it shall be,” he said as though it was the most obvious thing in the world.

Jimin giggled loudly and Jungkook said he would dye it anytime.

“She is going to be so spoiled,” Hoseok said, shaking his head in disbelief.

“Of course she will be,” Yoongi said, shocked that his friends would think otherwise. “But I still teach her values. Watch. Areum,” he called, gaining her attention. “What is the most important thing in life?” he asked.

“Family,” she said without batting an eyelash.

“What can money never buy?” he said, a slight smile on his face.

“Hmmm… Family, friends, happiness, and love,” she said, slowly listing off the items.

“Good job, baby. Come here,” he said, beckoning the little girl over. She complied and stood eye level with her father.

“Who is your most favorite person in the world?” he asked, holding her little hands in his.

The little girl made an exaggerated thinking face and said, “Joonie.”

The father gasped and grasped at his heart, “That is not what you said this morning.”

“Jinnie?” she asked, giggling slightly.

“Getting closer,” he said ruffling her hair.

“Chimchim?”

“You just met him!” the father exclaimed, pretending to be hurt, but he smiled at Jimin. The boy was now laying on his back, holding his face in his hands, giggling loudly from embarrassment. “Come on, who is your real favorite-est person in the world?”

“You, silly!” the little girl exclaimed, wrapping her arms around her father’s neck. “That’s right, now come on, let’s go get lunch. Do you remember all of your friend’s names?” he whispered the last part in her ear, now standing and holding her in his arms. “Ne,” she whispered back. “Then go tell them to get up so we can eat,” he sat the little girl down.

Areum walked over to the Kim couple and patted Namjoon on the head, “Papa Nam. Jinnie.” She patted the elder’s shoulder, “Let’s eat.”

She walked over to Jimin and climbed onto his stomach. “Chimchim,” she said, crawling up to his face, where she propped herself up. “Get up, we need to eat.” He responded by standing up, holding her and placing her back on her feet. She immediately ran across the, now dissolving, circle to Hoseok. “Hobi, come on,” she said, grabbing the man’s hand. He allowed her to pull him up and ruffled her hair with a smile. She evaded quickly and ran to Taehyung who was now standing up with Jungkook.

“Oppa,” she said, patting the man’s stomach. “Let’s go Tae tae-oppa,” she said as the man gave her a large boxy smile. She turned to her last victim before hesitating. The man could see her confusion written on her face and knelt down to eye level with her.

“Kookie,” he said softly. “You can call me Kookie.”

“Kookie-oppa!” she cried, pulling the man’s hand so that he would follow her.

Now the merry band of friends were all standing and Areum was still holding Jungkook’s hand, leading him toward the only place she knew there was food; the student center. Taehyung jogged up to grab Areum’s other hand. Seokjin and Namjoon were holding hands walking behind the three of them, with Hoseok on Seokjin’s left, talking animatedly with the elder about something. Bringing up the rear was Yoongi and Jimin. The blonde could see Jimin throwing him sidelong glances and decided to finally speak up.

“Thank you,” he mumbled, almost inaudibly.

“For what?” Jimin asked, feet tripping on the sidewalk out of shock, but he steadied himself.

“For not running. Especially after seeing the proof that I am a single father. Instead of running, you embraced it and played with her. Thank you,” the father said, staring at his clasped hands, stopped now on the bridge over the water feature. Jimin reached out and pried his hands apart, holding one and letting the other fall.

“I told you, I want to try being more than friends. If I wanted that, why the hell would I run when I meet such an important part of your life? She is the cutest, sweetest thing I have ever seen. And I mean look at me, that is saying a lot,” Jimin said with a chuckle. Yoongi hit his shoulder playfully and smiled at his friend.

“Come on, let’s go eat,” Yoongi said, noticing his friends and family had already entered the student center. He squeezed the younger’s hand and dragged him inside the building. They quickly found the large booth their friends were seated at. Areum was sitting in Taehyung’s lap but jumped down when she saw her father and her Chimchim.

“Appa!” she called, “Food!” The little girl grabbed Yoongi’s free hand, drawing everyone’s attention to his occupied hand. Yoongi, however, was too busy paying attention to his daughter to see the smiles and knowing looks from his friends. He allowed his daughter to pull him in the direction of the Chinese place that she liked and he drug Jimin behind him. Yoongi grabbed Areum’s favorite meal, a dish that was heavily laden with meat, and handed the bag to the little girl to carry. When they reached the drink station, he had to let go of Jimin’s hand so he could carry both Areum’s and his drinks. He turned to Jimin to ask where he wanted to go within the food court, but he noticed the boy had already grabbed something from the cold grab and go case. They gathered their drinks, stood in line to pay, and returned to the booth. Their friends had already left to pick food out for themselves. Yoongi let Jimin slide in first and then came Areum. Yoongi sat on the edge of the booth and began to open his and Areum’s food. He gathered a bite of the rice and meat on his spoon and turned toward his daughter. He was seriously taken aback to see his daughter already being fed. And not sitting on the booth. She was, in fact, sitting on Jimin’s lap, as he fed her a piece of sushi from his container.

“Areum, come on. Sit in your seat. Jimin needs to eat too,” he said, but as he was talking he saw Jimin wind his unoccupied arm around the little girl’s waist. “She’s fine,” the boy said, a smile on his face as her took a bite of sushi for himself.

“Ok fine, whatever. But at least feed her this, I bought plenty for the two of us, there is no reason to feed her your food,” Yoongi said, as he began separating part of his food into another bowl for his daughter. He was stopped, however, by Jimin’s hand on his own.

“You’ll just have to share with me instead then,” he said as he used his set of chopsticks to grab a piece of meat straight out of Yoongi’s bowl.

The blonde gulped thickly before shaking his head imperceptibly. Opting to ignore the mischievous look Jimin was giving him, Yoongi grabbed a piece of meat with his chopsticks and fed it to Areum. This continued for a few minutes and the men were so absorbed in the child and each other that they didn’t notice the group standing not 10 feet away from them.

Seokjin leaned into his partner and whispered in his ear, “After Areum, I think this is the best thing to have happened to him.”

“I agree,” Namjoon said, nodding his head.

“They have known each other for what? 2 days? And they already are acting like a married couple. It makes me sick,” said Taehyung, earning an elbow in each of his sides. One from his step brother, and one from his best friend, Jungkook.

“I know you are jealous, but try to allow Jimin to be happy for once in his life, ok?” Jungkook said, obviously pissed off at the words of his best friend.

“You guys are being ridiculous,” said Hoseok, aggravated, as he pushed past the younger two and made his way toward the both. He slid in first, sitting beside Jimin, and Taehyung, Jungkook, Namjoon, and Seokjin followed him.

Yoongi could see there was tension between Jungkook and Taehyung, but it seemed to lighten a little bit as Areum made up ridiculous stories to tell the new listeners. Everyone seemed to be enraptured by the little girl’s tales of flying, dinosaurs, and lions. Yoongi couldn’t help but look around the table to the faces of his new and old friends. His little family of two grew to four quickly. It had remained that way for a year until it grew to five with the addition of Hoseok. It has been another year and the father decided it would be okay to maybe add three more to his family. Two, four, five, eight. Maybe things would go well for a change.
