Hyerin? The name was quite familiar, but I wasn't so sure where I heard it from...
"How do you know Hyerin?" I asked.
"She was my friend," he said.
"Was?" Why did he use a past participle? Did something happen to her? He became quiet for a few second, before he could answer my question.
"She's dead..."
D-Dead? It's as if my whole body and mind went blank. "I–I'm sorry..."
In order to cut the awkwardness, I asked something different.
"I still don't get it, though. How is she connected to me?"
He chewed on his lip, as he was thinking about it, too. "We still don't have the exact answers to your questions, but we will, soon."
He suddenly leaned towards me, but not too close. "Irene, I want you to be honest with me."
I slowly leaned back, and nodded.
"Back then, what did you get from that cat?"
The cat? Ah, that cat...
"I just got a necklace, that's all," I said.
His ears perked up, when I mentioned the word 'necklace.'
"What kind of necklace?" He asked, eager to know.
I tried explaining the feature of it, but it was kinda hard to explain. So, I told him that I will get the actual necklace from my room. He just nodded, and told me that he would wait for me.
"Here," I handed it to him immediately, when I got it from my room.
"This is no doubt Hyerin's," he said.
Hyerin again... How is she really connected to me, anyway? Hyerin, who are you to me, and who am I to you?
Once he was done looking at it, he gave it back to me. "You should keep it. Protect it."
After saying that, he grabbed my wrist, and led us outside his house.
I stopped, confused with his sudden actions. "What are you doing?"
"Looking for some answers?" He said.
I raised my brow in question. "What?"
He sighed. "Just follow me."
After following him, we've finally reached to our destination. We stopped in front of a house, which looks empty. It seems that the house was abandoned, despite the fact that it is old and dirty.
"Come on," he grabbed my wrist again.
I stopped again in disbelief. "Wait, we're going in there?" I pointed to the house.
He nudged me. "Why, you're scared?"
"Well, it's abandoned..."
He softly laughed. "Coward," he muttered under his breath, though I heard him clearly. Jungkook lifted me off from the ground, and all I could see was the ground and his back.
"Hey, put me down!" I slapped his back many times, but he wasn't budging from the pain.
"Jungkook!" I hissed.
Aside from being inside the abandoned house, I was getting dizzy and sick.
"I'm going to puke, Jungkook. No joke," I said. And with that, he finally let go of me.
He glared at me. "Don't you dare run away, Irene."
I sighed. "I wont. I swear."
While I was massaging my temples, I heard Jungkook leaving me behind. Being such a coward I am, I immediately followed him. I hit my face into his back, when he suddenly stopped. I cupped my sore face, and was about to
