The Jerk-a-zoid and the Party *Edited*

Opposites Attract

A/N: Another Updated chapter! Man I'm on a role today! I'm so proud of how these are turnign out! XD Anyway, If any of you are old readers, then please re-read this and the previous chapters. Trust me, you'll need to if you don't want to get confused later on.

"Who the HELL are you and what are you DOING in this house?!"

Fear started to fill my heart as my attacker's eyes kept getting darker and darker the more I didn't say anything. It's not that I didn't want to speak, but with his hands crushing my voice box, it was kind of hard to even make a sound. But I knew that if I didn't do anything he wouldn't let me go, so I decided to do my best.

"Cho Baelynn..." I managed to squeak. He raised his brow slightly. "What was that?"

This time I took as much of a deep breath as I could. "My name is Cho Baelynn!" It still came out as a squeak, but it was louder. "My grandmother is Jeon Taeyeon, who lives here!"

Once I said the last sentence his glare became darker and his grip tightened on me again.

"Don't lie!" He growled again. "Lady Jeon doesn't HAVE a granddaughter! She DIED years ago! Now tell me WHO YOU ARE!"

I tried my best to breath. "I'm not lying! She found me in America and brought me here to move in with her!"

Now he was so angry, he started to scream. "I said 'STOP LYING'!"

His grip was so firm on my neck that I could no longer even breathe. He was going to kill me. Just because he refused to listen to me, he was going to make me stop breathing all together. More fear consumed me and I would've given in to it if my bedroom door didn't slam open.

"Kim Hanbin! Just WHAT IN THE WORLD are you DOING!?"

Both of our eyes widened as his grip finally loosened enough for me to look over his shoulder and see my grandmother standing in the middle of my bedroom; and man did she not look happy. With her hands on her hips, she glared at the boy that was still pinning me to the wall.

"Let go of her, right now!" She ordered. He gave me another glare as he reluctantly removed his hand from my neck and crawl off my bed. The moment that my body felt the absence of his killer weight, air started to re-enter my lungs so fast that I couldn't help but cough up a storm. My grandmother furrowed her brows in worry and rushed to my side on the bed.

"Sweetie, are you alright?" She asked, my back in comfort. I nodded and managed to choke out an "I'm fine."

She sighed and looked away from me. "Well. Want to explain the situation to me?" She asked the boy with a voice that had a hint of anger in it. I looked back up at him and saw that his gaze still lingered onto me before going to my grandmother.

"I just came home from school and walked into my bathroom to find out some had just used it because the fan was on. So, naturally, I thought someone had broken in. When I came into the room, which is normally NOT IN USE, I saw her and thought she was an intruder; especially when she started spouting nonsense about being your granddaughter, Lady Jeon."

"I see..." She sighed. "Well, I won't blame you for not knowing and just going with your protective instinct. If I knew you were home, I would've called you so that I could tell you the news at the same time that I told the others."

The boy raised his brow in confusion at my grandmother, but didn't say anything as if to motion her to go on. She then took my arm and helped me to stand up so that I was facing the boy.

"Sweetie..." She said to me and gestured towards the my attacker. "This is Kim Hanbin. He's the son of a family friend and will be living in the room next to yours. He's the same age as you, so you don't have to feel the need to be polite with him; in fact, I hope you two can be good friends in the near future."

My heart dropped as I started thinking about what she just said.

Wait. This guy is going to be my BATHROOM BUDDY?!

Just... how in the world is that going to work!?

She brought back her hand and rested both of them on my shoulders.

"Hanbin, dear..." She said, slowly. "This Cho Baelynn, My granddaughter."

It had been what felt like an hour after my grandmother left us; saying something about giving us time to 'talk things out’. But all we did was stand in my room and stare at each other. He looked me up and down as if he was wondering if I was real or not, and I just narrowed my eyes at him wondering if he was going to attack me again. After a few more minutes of our staring contest, he was the first one to speak.

"So, you were actually telling the truth, huh?" Hearing his voice made me jump. It wasn't as low as it was before, and I wasn't expecting it in this situation.

I nodded and he hummed a bit. "Do you know how old you are?"

I wrinkled my nose at his weird question. Was I not supposed to know my own age? I was confused, but I answered his question anyway.

"I'm turning 19 the day after my grandmother's birthday. Which is-"

"October 22nd. Am I right?" he interrupted me. I frowned at him. Ok. RUDE.

    "Yeah..."

"You do also know that tomorrow is the 21st, right?" He walked over and lay down onto my bed. Usually that would get me ticked off and I would've kicked him off of it, but I was too preoccupied by my own thoughts to really notice.

Wait, what? Tomorrow? But I thought it was the day AFTER tomorrow? I didn't actually understand what he was talking about, but I wasn't going to let him get the chance to laugh at me.

"Sure, do." I fibbed. "Why wouldn't I know that?"

He shrugged and put his hands underneath his head. "No reason; just that usually people from the States tend to get thrown off by the time difference."

Crap! "Yeah, well. I'm still FROM Korea, so I understand the difference. No need to worry about me."

Luckily I turned away from him right before my cheeks blushed from embarrassment. If he knew that he was right the whole time I would never hear the end of it!

"Pff! ME worry about YOU?" He scoffed and I heard him crawl off my bed. When I turned around, he was right in front of me. Although I was pretty tall for a girl he still was taller than me by an inch or two.

I held my breath as he leaned down so that his lips were close to my ear. "You should be worried about yourself." he whispered and I could feel his hot breath on my skin; sending shivers down my spine. His voice wasn't angry or threatening. In fact, it was more like he was giving me advice. Though, I would have appreciated it more if he didn’t think I was so weak.

"Why is that?" I tried my best not to stutter; the position we were in was kind of awkward. He leaned in closer and I could almost feel his lips touch my ear now.

   He then quietly said...

"Because, after tomorrow, you won't be the same person you are today. That much, I can promise you, will happen. No matter what."

The jerk-a-zoid left after his little 'advice' moment with me and I was now in my room by myself.

That was, until my grandmother came back up and told me dinner was ready.

She lead me down stairs and into what looked like a dining room with a long table that only had four chairs sitting together at one end. My grandmother sat down at the end of the table while I sat down on her right side. Mr. Joohyun came down and sat in the seat in front of me, leaving the seat next to me vacant.

My grandmother noticed me looking at it and giggled; catching my attention.

"Don't worry dear, there's a reason for the empty seat. Hopefully someone will be sitting in it soon..." she picked up her phone and started typing a message. I saw her smile to herself while hitting send, and a few seconds later I hear a door slam and stomps descending the stairs.

And then there he was, standing at the other end of the table, frowning at us. I couldn't help but glare back at him a bit.

"Ah~ Hanbin-ah! Nice for you to finally join us~" My grandmother sang and motioned him closer. "Come! Sit down before the food gets cold!"

That’s when I knew that my grandmother had saved the seat next to me for the Jerk; and worse of all, Mr. Joohyun was in on it! I narrowed my eyes at the man in front of me, and he just gave me an innocent but sheepish smile.

Hanbin, a.K.a the Jerk, stomped over and sat down next to me; he looked really ticked off and I couldn't help but wonder how my grandmother got him to come down.

The rest of dinner was pretty peaceful and happy since Hanbin was the only one who refused to talk. If he was any other person, I would have been worried and asked what his problem was, but he wasn't, so I didn't even bother.

When my grandmother announced that dinner had ended, (yes, she actually had to give us permission to leave the table.) she forced Hanbin to walk me back to my room after giving us BOTH a good night's kiss on the cheek. Like always, he didn't say a word to me as was ascended the stairs. The second my hand touched my door knob, he slammed his bedroom door shut.

Even thought I knew it was going to happen, I still jumped at how loud it was.

Sighing, I entered my room and climbed into bed. I have a feeling that tomorrow is going to be a very, VERY long day...

    "Ya... Wake up...."

I felt something nudging my shoulder but I was too tired to acknowledge it.

"Ya! Didn't you hear me?! Wake up!!"

I do have to admit that the yelling did wake me up a bit, but it wasn't until I felt a finger flick my forehead did I jolt up in alertness and pain.

"Ow...." I rubbed the sore spot above my brow and glared at the perpetrator. "Yah! Kim Hanbin!"

The jerk himself was standing right next to my bed with a bored look on his face. I was kind of surprised to see that he was already dressed up for the day. Unlike the school uniform that he had on yesterday, he instead wore black slacks with matching dress shoes and had somehow managed to fit himself into a tight-fit, red dress shirt and black tie. Oh my gosh, he even styled his hair up!

"Well aren't YOU dressed to impress today." I snickered sarcastically.

He rolled his eyes. "And why aren't you?"

I raised my eyebrow in confusion. "What do you mean?"

"Please don't tell me you ACTUALLY forgot what today is."

It took a moment for my brain to properly wake up before it slowly dawned on me. Grandma's birthday party!

    "Umm.... What time is it?"

He sighed. "1:30 PM. You've been asleep for over half the day and the party guests will be here in half-an hour."

Knowing that I had to do something productive immediately, I literally jumped out of bed and grabbed my hair brush to fight the dreadful birds nest that was my hair.

"And no one thought to wake me up?!"

"I just did, didn't I?" I would have punched him if I wasn't running around my room in my pajamas and freaking out. I was just about to enter the bathroom to brush my teeth when I realized something huge.

   "I have nothing to wear..."

I quickly ran over to my duffle bag and shook out its contents. From what my grandmother told me on the plane yesterday, the party was to be formal. That meant that I had to wear a dress. The only problem is...

    I don't OWN a dress!!

"Ohmygosh.... whatdoIdowhatdoIdo...." I chanted to myself as I started to pace back and forth. From the corner of my eye I could see Hanbin watching me with that stupid smirk of his, but I didn't care to fully give him my attention at that time.

Well, that was until he grabbed my arm and shoved a big rectangle box into my hands.

"I can't watch this anymore." He snorted. "Lady Jeon told me to give this to you when you woke up. Try not to be too shocked when you see it."

And then he left my room, leaving me alone and confused. Just what in the world? Does he have duel personalities or something?

I shrugged off the thought and opened the box. Inside was a beautiful Knee-lengthed, green, short-sleeved dress that looked like it was made for an actress to wear at the Oscars. I wasn't shocked, but astonished and amazed at how beautiful it was. I was also kind of afraid to ask grandma how much it cost because it was so elegant!

Although, the black heels that came with it DID look like they could break my ankle if I stepped on them wrong...

I made myself promise to put it on last while I tried to make my face and hair more presentable. I found a curling Iron in my room so I used it to curl the ends of my long black hair, and I didn't own any make-up except for some BB-cream and eyeliner, so I had no choice but to do my best with only that. By the time I was done with my make-up the clock on my phone read 2:15. Crap! Some of the guests are probably already here by now!

I slipped into my dress and heels and shuffled out of my room. I held onto the stairs railing for dear life as I slowly descended; the heels were seriously scaring the bejesuss' out of me.

It was when I landed on the last step that I noticed all the people in the huge living room. The party hasn't even completely started and yet there were about 30+ people already here! Just how popular is my grandmother?

I knew that I shouldn't be just standing around being awkward so I started to look around my the only people that I DID know; My grandmother, Mr. Joohyun, and.... yeah, maybe I could try and get Hanbin to stick around with me so I didn't feel so lonely.

"Bae-rinnie!" My grandmother's voice caught my attention and I immediately saw her standing next to a group of women who looked to be around her age. She waved to me as I trotted over to her.

"Oh my goodness! You look absolutely STUNNING, my dear!" She giggled and twirled me around to capture me in full view.

"Thank you for the dress, grandma. I love it." I gave her a hug and kissed her cheek. She giggle again and then led me to the front of the living room to do something that I never expected her to do. She got everyone's attention by tapping on her glass a bunch of times and then proceeded to announce that I, Cho Baelynn, was finally found and would continue to live the rest of my life as her granddaughter blah-blahblah.... Truth be told, I was very embarrassed. Not only was she making it a huge deal, but she was also announcing it to all of these people that I didn't even KNOW.

Plus, those people that I DON'T KNOW were now staring at me with these weird smiles. Ok, umm.... creepy much?

After my grandmother's 'major' announcement the party quickly began again and I spent the rest of the time with Mr. Joohyun and my grandmother while they introduced me to their friends and to some of her party guests.

It would be a lie if I said that I never saw Hanbin. Every now and then I would find him standing with a group of boys who looked around our age. He never bothered to look back at me, but sometimes I would catch his friends secretly eyeing me with what looked like curiosity and excitement. One of them even tried to wave at me but was stopped by another who looked like he was scolding him.

Hours quickly flew by and before we knew it, it was half an hour before midnight. In exactly half an hour, I would officially be 19 years old...

MY grandmother also noticed the time and a huge, excited smile grew on her face. She grabbed my hand and started to drag me to a room on the second floor. It looked like some sort of old, European study room filled with old dusty books and paperwork. I didn't take long for me to notice that Hanbin and Mr. Joohyun were in the room also; Mr. Joohyun was smiling at me like he was some sort of proud father, while Hanbin... well, when he noticed that I was looking at him, he averted his gaze.

Oh yeah? Well, I don't want to see you either!

Shaking my head, I returned to the situation at hand. "Uh….Grandma? Why are we here?"

She didn't reply as I watched her dig though one of the desks drawers and fish out what looked like a medium square box. When she stood back in front of me, she held it out and opened it up. Inside was a beautiful jade pendant with a small, silver flower wrapped around a jade stone.

Oh how I wish that I had known how much trouble that stone would've gotten me in....
