elaboration having had experience taking care of the trcng members (since he was even older than the eldest by probably a year), youngrim is known to be caring. he actively helps to check if the members were awake, or whether they were well, or are they happy? if they were being bullied, he stood up for them, and constantly fights the ts staff because of that. he doesn't outright fight them, youngrim just tries to reason with whoever's mad, and asks the staff for a break whenever they need it. he also shields the younger members (he tries for the older ones, but he can't be there for them all the time so he favours the younger ones a little more, which the older ones understand) from the physical abuse, which is how he developed scars. and yet he still sits the younger members down and wipes off any tears whenever he sees any, and hugs them whenever they feel like breaking down. youngrim is a goddamn angel. 

 

youngrim is also a very determined person, though it's hard because of his trauma and personality. he's determined in achieving his dreams, but his anxiety sometimes prevents him from reaching out to certain opportunities and shining brighter onstage. however, when facing bullying from upper administration or even from other trainees, you can bet youngrim is there for you. 

 

our boy is patient and generous person when it comes to his friends, and people he cares about. he honestly can't give a about people he hates though. because of the 'training' he got from ts, he knows that people can take some time towards doing certain things, especially if you have mental illnesses. this also comes from his own personal experience, since he himself also takes time to adjust or start towards something. the kind of generosity he has does refer to material objects, in which he isn't shy about sharing his own belongings to s/friends whenever they need it, but also to his kindness to people. youngrim is the kind of people who's friendly to everyone, until they give him an excuse not to. 

 

youngrim's friendliness leads to his outgoing nature, where he tries to befriend everyone. and he succeeds most of the time, because he's not overbearing, nor is he so loud that people shy away from him. he just approaches people naturally and takes extra care towards people like him. everyone in starship likes him because of that. 

 

he's also super loyal to people he likes, and is 'ride or die' for the people he adopts. he doesn't offer up his loyalty to literally everyone though - youngrim judges you first before he decides whether he'll die for you or not. he jokes that had youngjae not been his natural hyung, he wouldn't have passed the 'youngrim test'. 

 

i probably have talked enough about this, but boi is super random, which is why people say he has a 4D personality. because of his natural curiousity, youngrim just asks random questions all the time. he also does weird things like bopping s' noses, and wearing sunglasses everywhere, and...yeah. just being weird in general. it's not very high profile, it's just verbal or small actions, like pinching s and...you get the point. 

 

youngrim might seem like the nicest person with the best personality ever, but he also has his moments of sass. (i mean, who wouldn't by living with youngjae because seriously) his sass isn't biting or throat-cutting like some people's, and it's just there when he randomly interjects in people's conversations, but yeah. boy sassy. hyung, are you awake? - no, i'm just tired of the world right now. 

 

his maturity developed, sadly, because of ts again, but also because youngjae hyung is immature af and someone has to be mature around the house. his maturity can be seen in his friendliness towards everyone, and being patient with everyone as well. however, this maturity comes with a price; his trauma caused him to be insecure about himself, which he's trying really hard to overcome. mostly it's about his skills as a singer rather than about his body image, though it really depends on that particular moment. daehyun is a good outlet for these insecurities, since youngrim really looks up to him as a singer. 

 

because of his insceurity, it also leads him to become kind of a perfectionist and just nitpicks everything in practice. he's particularly picky when it comes to vocal practice; youngrim has a really good ear so he can hear when people goes off beat. he's especially strict towards high notes, because if someone's voice cracks during a high note, it's going to be super embarrassing and he doesn't want that. youngrim is strict, but he doesn't yell at people. he just coaches people through it until they get the hang of it. 

 

youngrim is stubbon when it comes to things he value. it can be his friends, his family, his dreams or whatever, because of his determined nature. he doesn't back down on his beliefs, and since he's usually a very gentle person, people tend to be quiet when he vouches for something. 

 

however, he shuts off very easily when his trauma or anxiety hits. when this happens, the smile on his face becomes a little strained, and he excuses himself to be alone. s usually understand and just leaves him alone, though one of them would go and check on him once in a while just to make sure he's fine. 

 

background (the following is copied from youngjae's wiki page) youngrim was born in bangbae-dong in the seocho district of seoul after his older brother youngjae. he is the third and youngest son of his father, and fashion brand business-owning mother. he lived in a wealthy household up until the 1997 asian financial crisis; his family struggled thereafter. they lived in a container home for a period of time and his father moved away. youngrim then lived in a villa in yongin with his mother and youngjae, before moving into a basement room in seoul. 

 

while youngjae spent his childhood playing video games however, youngrim decided to make singing his hobby after watching old h.o.t videos. as the younger son he was mostly in charge of the chores and also learnt to cook at home. school was rather normal for him, especially since he was a super outgoing kid back then. so he made loads of friends and had a happy childhood.

 

youngrim enrolled in a hagwon for singing (kind of like an academy) at the same time as youngjae did because of his passion for singing, and started tagging along to auditions with his older brother, but were continuously rejected because he was too young. (when youngjae was 15 he was still 11, so not possible) youngrim did went to his practices while he was at jyp, so he got to know trainees like got7's mark and jb, and day6's youngk as hyungs. when youngjae debuted in bap, he was 14, but by then decided to focus on his studies first before becoming a trainee. 

 

fast forward to 2014, and b.a.p sued ts for mistreatment. youngrim is a sixteen year old and had to decide on a career path, and he thought about becoming a lawyer because...yeah. he still didn't let go of his singing hobby though, and continued to perform at school festivals, constantly visiting bap whenever possible and just being good friends with his hyungs. but then at a school festival performance he got spotted by a yg scouter, who decided to call him in for an audition. youngrim passed, and he was really happy. youngjae was happy for him too, and congratulated him

 

and thus began his trainee journey! 

 

likes 

♞ food. there's no way around it, youngrim loves food and it's probably the most difficult for him to lose weight. luckily, his favourite food is sushi, which isn't that fattening. his second favourite food is fried chicken, which is a huge problem

 

♞ bubble tea, he treats that stuff like wine. he's a connisseur of bubble tea. the only time he can rap is when he rattles off his bubble tea order (we actually do it here, it's an art to order bubble tea)

♞ snow. it's magical and he loves it

 

♞ even though he doesn't look good in them, big fluffy sweaters. they hide his scars and doesn't brush against them. when he was a trainee, he used to fall asleep hugging one of junhong/youngjae's sweaters because the scent makes him feel safe. in a dorm now with other members, youngrim feels more safe but still does it. sometimes he steals other people's sweaters. those who don't mind and don't feel weirded out, of course. 

 

♞ mochi (zelo's dog). youngrim and junhong are his parents now. he wants to get another small dog like that, but his brother probably would disagreee (i can't be sure but youngjae doesn't have a pet so maybe he doesn't want one?)

 

♞ watching anime. he loves attack on titan and one piece (jongup's favourites too)

 

♞ salty snacks, just the addictive kind that you can't help but put absent-mindedly in your mouth, and before you know it you finished the whole bag? yeah, that.

 

♞ his favourite bap songs are coma, shadow (by daehyun), fermata, no mercy and what the hell

 

dislikes 

♞ pain. obviously, but it also means he doesn't want to get tattoos or piercings or stuff like that. he's especially scared about surgery. small scraps are cool, aches are fine, but not intense and sharp pain. luckily he already did ear piercings before getting into ts, so it's fine. but additional piercings are a big no. 

 

♞ the cold. his scars ache the most in the cold, so he often has ghost pain (is that how you say it) on where he was hurt before. he also feels sleepy in the cold. in winter, youngrim sleeps with an electronic blanket and the heater on

 

♞ he hates it a lot when people talks to him in a loud voice. not when you're shouting when you get excited or something like that, but when someone raises their voice at them when talking about normal stuff. not only is it rude, he gets jumpy when someone shouts at him. he instinctively steps in front of a member if someone so much as raises their voice at them.

 

♞ loud rock music. everytime he hears viva rock he jumps a little. luckily justin/their leader knows this and kind of apologizes afterwards with food whenever viva show is stuck with a practice room next to them 

 

♞ ts entertainment, because it's a place. it mistreated his hyungs, his dongsaengs, and gave him trauma. he wouldn't touch that place with a six foot pole ever again. 

 

♞ just any type of behaviour that resembles bullying. youngrim would stop it immediately. 

 

♞ he doesn't like the taste of uni 

 

♞ unconsented skinship. he jumps if people touch him without his consent, and especially when they hug him from behind (if he doesn't know) 

 

habits 

♞ pulling his long sleeves over his fingers so he does moe-sode (it's a thing, look it up), and covering his face with his moe-sode. he's super-soft like that

 

♞ when he feels scared he hugs something big and fluffy. if it's at the middle of night, it would be one of his sweaters or hug cushions, if he's backstage he hugs one of s. 

 

♞ when he sleeps he sometimes puts on asmr, which blocks out his thoughts until he falls asleep. 

 

♞ biting his nails when he's anxious. his stylists were annoyed that he kept biting off his nail designs, so he fiddles with his sleeves instead. he's very fidgety. 

 

♞ saying 'i can do it' every day before waking up and 'i did well today' before sleeping. it boosts his self-confidence 

 

♞ scrunching his face into a pout whenever he takes selcas. his selcas are usually on the cuter side rather than being y 

 

♞ he spends a little longer time in the shower because he has to ease himself into the shower instead of just hopping straight in, due to his injuries. the hot water also makes him relax

♞ having blonde hair. warrior era bap kind of traumatised him, so he shies away from being blonde until he's 100% sure it looks good on him, or at the very least the other members aren't blonde too (for their debut the hairdressers recommended blonde hairstyles to each member separately, so they didn't know the others were also going to be blonde)

 

♞ getting lost, so whenever he goes out or goes somewhere he drags someone along 

 

special talents 

♞ naming every bap song in existence, and singing every bap song in existence. he can't do the rap parts but he's trying to

 

♞ high notes. he learnt this from daehyun (he's a tenor like daehyun, while youngjae is a baritone), and had perfected it when he was in ts 

 

♞ the ability to sneak food onto any set viva show is filming in. fans had made a compilation of youngrim eating on youtube and people even had a joke hashtag called #youngfood (youngrim x food) because food is bae

♞ if he can't debut under starship (since he's not going to be in viva) after 2022, he'll transfer to bighit or woolim. and if not he'll go to his brother's record label j world since he can control his career.

♞ he's sometimes called daehyun and minhyuk (btob)'s lovechild. so we know btob and bap are super close, and two famous pairings are daejae (daehyun youngjae) and minkwang (minhyuk eunkwang). since youngjae games with eunkwang, it's kinda like a joke of how...yeah, you get it. (doesn't he look like a blend of minhyuk and daehyun though, if you squint enough) 

 

♞ youngrim is sensitive to smell. he can literally smell the coming of different seasons; once he said he smelled winter, people looked at him weird until they pull out their phone and realise it was winter solstice. 

 

♞ he suffers from severe insomnia, mainly because of fear/trauma. youngrim has to leave the lights up, otherwise he can't sleep. 

 

♞ he's only loud (loud as in super excited, not loud as in outgoing) around the people he's comfortable with. otherwise youngrim just smiles and talks at a normal volume. he's cool with talk shows as long as someone he knows is with him. 

 

♞ he's generally a people-pleaser. youngrim doesn't like to see people unhappy because of him, so he tries to make others laugh most of the time. however, he can and will stand up to people who are abusing him or s when needed. he had stood up against t , nothing could be worse. 

 

♞ he's daehyun-biased (wrecker is yongguk) even though his bf is literally zelo and his brother is literally youngjae. the two people as mentioned above get super whiny when youngrim fanboys over daehyun. daehyun, in his normal style, just thinks it's hilarious

♞ sometimes it feels like youngrim is the older brother, and youngjae is the younger brother, because youngjae is very bouncy and...well, after ts youngrim is the quiet one. nonetheless, youngjae loves his baby brother a lot, and sometimes dishes out a lot of tough love on him. their relationship gets physical in the sense that youngjae hits youngrim a lot whenever he laughs - since they'have a lot of fun together - and there is a lot of collateral damage. youngjae also gives him a lot of advice about being a trainee, and they have a really close relationship ♞

♞ youngrim and youngwon aren't super close. one of the reasons is because of age difference - they're thirteen years apart - and the other reason is because they didn't grow up together and...it makes all the difference. nonetheless, youngwon is still very supportive of youngrim's career, like he was with youngjae (he posts a lot youngjae stuff on his ig and supports his brother a lot), but they can be a bit awkward around each other. ♞

♞ bap ♞ practically his dads/hyungs ♞ his older brother doesn't like his groupmates being called 'dads' by his baby brother ♞ 

 

♞ yongguk: is his dad. is literally his dad because he's youngjae's dad also. sometimes youngrim calls him grandpa and yongguk finds it funny. yongguk is good for emotional support, though they aren't particularly close to each other since youngrim still finds him a little scary. but he's like that friend you have who's a bit intimidating, but you find it easy to talk to them because they're just that kind of person. and yongguk's good at listening.

 

♞ himchan: is his mom. despite youngrim not being one of his kids, himchan had basically adopted him so...yeah. child. sometimes youngrim would wake up to a text from himchan asking him whether he ate, and whether he slept enough, etc. etc. so yes, himchan is his mom. he also asks himchan for recipes because cooking for his kids is a must. 

 

♞ daehyun: is his idol, his vocal mentor, his older brother and his bias. he has all sorts of daehyun merch in his room and is unashamably the biggest daehyun fan there. you think daehyun is bap's biggest fan? well youngrim is the biggest iy (daehyun's fandom). he goes to daehyun for vocal advice whenever he needs it, and daehyun is also his first line of emotional support. youngjae jokes the only reason why he didn't date daehyun is because he finds daehyun is a bit intimidating, to which youngrim replied 'yeah no, i'm leaving him for you, hyung.' cue smack. 

 

♞ youngjae: actual hyung, but also the most annoying person on the face of the earth to exist. everytime youngrim comes over to visit bap during practice he dies inside a little and wants him to disappear as quickly as possible. he also hates it when the attention is on youngrim rather than himself. - there can only be one youngjae in the group and that's me! - okay hyung, calm down. they do love each other very much, don't worry 

 

♞ jongup: is his dance mentor and hyung. he calls him moon hyung and finds it hilarious. bap often jokes that youngrim is a product of yongguk's aegyo, himchan's motherly skills, daehyun's vocals, youngjae's sass, jongup's weirdness and zelo's dance. they vibe well with each other since both of them have similar personalities.

♞ trcng ♞ his baby brothers ♞ 

 

♞ trcng is one of the only groups he gets really close with, because in yg there were too many trainees, and he only started getting close to the cravity members near their debut. during their trainee period, youngrim was the oldest of the trainees, so he took care of them a lot and came to see them as his baby brothers. he got fed up with ts and eventually left, but his heart hurt a lot when trcng remained stuck with them. he told the members to get out of there asap, though of course it wouldn't have been possible since their contracts last 7 years. nonetheless, he still wishes them good luck. a few of the members, especially the younger ones, see him as a mom figure. ♞ 

 

- friends

♞ park jihyo: jihyo is the only female friend youngrim has, like she's the only one he's close to and doesn't feel awkward around. when he was little and went to visit youngjae at jyp, she was the only one near his age (jihyo was eight when she entered jyp, in 2005. youngjae is at jyp at around 2008 I think - he was 14/15 at the time, youngrim would be 11 so it makes sense) so they became quick friends. to this day she's still a close friend of his. 

 

♞ btob: youngrim often visits bap backstage, and the only idol group bap is close with is btob, so as youngjae's baby brother they got excited at the sight of him and coodle him. especially eunkwang and sungjae, since they're youngjae's close friends in btob. later, when he's actually an artist himself, btob is even more excited seeing him. 

 

♞ cravity: he's close with some members, but not all of them. he knows all of the members, however, and gets really friendly with them in the corridors (doesn't call them sunbae-nim etc.) people are surprised when they hear that youngrim is a close friend of theirs' because he seems to be the quiet type.

♞ dan uyeong: as a trainee from yg, he doesn't know uyeong well since he was in yg before uyeong entered, and left before he entered. his first impression of him in the show is 'that person's kinda intimidating', but he will approach uyeong anyways.

♞ lee yunso: yunso is a bit surprised to see youngrim at starship, because he was there in yg as a trainee, and now he's in starship?? that's weird. when he was at yg youngrim was known to be a very outgoing person, so yunso approached youngrim with that mindset, but when yunso approached him with a backhug youngrim immediately flinched in surprise, and yunso quickly stopped. though youngrim eventually recognised yunso, and they got close again, youngrim still hesitates to share what happened to him between that time gap, but eventually did and...yeah. youngrim got another dad who was born in the same year as his older brother. 

 

♞ hong taejoon: taejoon entered yg ent. at the same time as youngrim, so the two were quite close as trainees. youngrim sees taejoon as an older brother figure because of the age difference, and he helps him with his korean sometimes. taejoon was quite upset when youngrim decided to leave yg, but was happy he decided to pursue his dream in another way. however, when he met youngrim at starship, he was really surprised because he thought youngrim had debuted already. nonetheless, he realised that something had happened to youngrim during that time, but tried to befriend youngrim again. they're friends close friends again now 

 

♞ shin hyunwook: hyunwook is best friends with youngjae and daehyun, so of course he knows that youngrim exists. (this is awkard because I forgot to check timelines and I realised that hyunwook and youngjae wouldn't be in jyp at the same time. anyways) hyunwook entered yg in 2012 and was there until c2c's debut in 2017. since youngjae had continuously nagged hyunwook to take care of youngrim, and hyunwook was fed up with youngjae's texts, he did help take care of his baby brother at yg, so they're quite close. but rather than being close friends, youngrim is more of hyunwook's baby brother figure instead. anyways, hyunwook is fiercely protective of youngrim as well. 

 

♞ hirai fuyumi: (I think violet hid the page so I can't find when fuyumi began as a trainee in yg) they know each other, and youngrim takes special care when getting along with fuyumi because he's shy. but they're not especially close with each other. 

 

♞ jung jaeshik: jaeshik also entered yg at the same time as youngrim, and since they're closer in age than taejoon and jaeshik, youngrim is closer to jace than taejoon. it's even more funny because youngrim is only two weeks older than jace. anyways they do a lot of language exchange, and people call them the 'model duo' since both of them are so tall.  

 

♞ arthit disthaapichon: tai is youngrim's sunbae, but youngrim is his hyung and tai only focuses on that. since youngrim doesn't mind dishing out hugs and cuddles, tai clings to him a lot. since youngrim can also produce a lot of random from his pockets so tai just goes 'rim-rim hyung? can i have some tissue please?'. anyways, youngrim does play a part in raising c2c's maknae, though mostly as a random- dispenser.

♞ jason shin: youngrim admires jason a lot as an artist and dancer. while he was still a trainee jumping across companies he had seen jason performing, especially when he visited bap backstage. jason may have brushed shoulders with youngrim when they're visiting btob together, but otherwise i don't think jason would've remembered youngrim well? anyways youngrim (what's new) thinks jason is hot, and when he saw jason he nearly hyperventilated. when they got closer he stopped hyperventilating, but he still gets really excited when he sees jason. junhong pretends to be mad, but later accept kisses from youngrim as an apology. 

 

♞ lee haru: youngrim was gone from yg when haru entered, so there's that. they actually have similar personalities, so youngrim gets along quite well with haru. they're also perfectionists together, so that's great. they also go out together for food and boba sometimes

 

♞ ja daekwan: entered yg ent. at the same time but not that close until end of 2015, and by that time he was already thinking about leaving yg. so they weren't that close. 

 

♞ jeon junsu: not that close either 

 

♞ park daehwan: they know each other, but youngrim doesn't really like how overbearing daehwan can be sometimes, so he just steers clear of him. 

 

♞ gook minjae: youngrim understands where minjae's trauma comes from, so maybe they bond over that. he takes care of minjae as well because he's one of the few that actually understands that kind of trauma. minjae sees youngrim as a sense of emotional support.

training background

(his debut story is in his background) two years after being stuck in yg, youngrim realised he's not getting a debut anytime soon. because he hung around ts so often, some of the staff has his contact, and they told him that there would be a new boy group debuting. youngjae tried to prevent him from going to ts because youngrim you saw what happened. don't be an idiot. but he ultimately decided to go to ts because he wanted to stay with his older brother and his hyungs - the trainees at yg were kind of mean and very hard to get along with. 

 

he went along to ts, and quickly found that it was indeed a goddamn ing company. nonetheless he tried to bear it out, and was thinking the conditions might improve when they debut (youngjae's shouts of despair going unheard) anyways, because he was too 'rebellious' and 'outspoken' against ts upper management, he was rejected from the lineup for trcng. youngrim decided to it, and take a break from trainee life just to recover from his trauma. he also wanted to wait for his older brother and hopefully go to a new company together. 

 

but then when he was performing with a few friends at university, one of starship's scouters?? spotted him and decided to call him in for an audition. youngrim decided to try again and joined starship. 

 

so he trained in starship for two years and was included in viva. yeah.

what do you think of the viva project? 

'I'm looking forward to it to being a fun experience. it's a bit sad we have to compete against each other, though.' 

 

what company are you under?

'i'm in starship now. used to be in yg though,' awkward chuckle 'kind of awkward competing with some people i may have trained along before.' 

 

what do you think of being in a competition with trainees from another entertainment company?

scratches nose 'it's actually a bit hard for me since i would've trained with some of the people i'm competing against. but for other trainees, i suppose it'll be good exposure for them to meet new trainees.' 

 

and what do you think of the YG trainees?

'well...i've been there for two years so i do know how the trainees there are. uhm...some of them are quite nice, I guess? but the talent can't be denied there.' 

 

if you debut with viva, do you think having trained under separate companies will be a problem with the members:

'oh no, not at all!' chuckles as he leans back, arranging his legs 'i think the other trainees might have more problems with me though; i've been company-hopping since 2014.' pause 'I think that's what you call it?'

'viva show.' reverse peace sign while biting his lips 'i suppose the 'show' stands for our ability in performance.' 

 

how do you feel about being a part of viva show?

'you know, it's funny because i've never really belonged to a lineup before.' awkward pause because he realises what he had said 'i mean, since debuting is such a fierce competition. so i'm glad i'm closer to achieving my dream. i'm also happy because my members are such nice people. they're really nice kids.' 

 

where do you think your unit will rank?

awkward chuckle 'well, i hope we don't rank last. the kids worked really hard so i hope it would pay off.' 

 

what is your strongest point?

'my vocals. especially my high notes. that i'm confident in.' can you show us? 'like, now? sure.' takes a deep breath before singing changmin's highnote in mirotic. the recording room goes silent and youngrim gets off his chair and bows 

 

what is viva show's strongest point?

'performance. our members are all well-rounded and we definitely won't disappoint onstage.' 

 

each unit will be doing a cover of an empire song, e2w song, OR c2c song before releasing their first track. if you were able to choose, which group would you want to cover?

'well...it's really up to my members but i'd love to cover one of empire's sunbae-nim's songs. i really admire jason sunbae-nim.' slight smile
