in a nutshell, jihan's style suits the "boyfriend look" as he has a rather simple wardrobe, usually wearing things like oversized hoodies and t-shirts, sweaters, and button-downs with a variety of jackets. while he prefers comfort over fashion in general, jihan has a good eye for colors and clothes and knows how to assemble a nice outfit when it's time to go out or to perform. occasionally, he throws in some accessories as well like round-rimmed glasses and rings.

「 positive 」   despite being one of the younger members, jihan has a maturity that many can't beat, and it's no wonder why he's often the one chosen as the temporary leader-in-charge whenever the older, more responsible members are out of the house. to live up to his title, jihan is tidy and responsible with a good memory (to remember any tasks he's been assigned to do) and with a commendable work ethic (that allows him to stay on task and get things done when needed).

while jihan may not look like the friendliest person in the room, in truth he's very grounded, making him not only dependable but also whole-heartedly devoted to who he loves and what he cherishes, one of which being music. if he's suddenly struck by inspiration despite already being comfortable and settled into bed, he'll get up and begin jotting down notes and ideas without a second thought because everything about music - especially when he's producing it - makes him excited and there's no better feeling than finding muse for a new project. whether it's consistently practicing over and over again to improve himself or plopping down onto the living room sofa with a blanket, a cup of coffee, and a pen and notepad for working on a new song, jihan dedicates himself to what he perceives as not a job, but rather as steps to take so he can achieve his dream and do what he loves both as a singer and ultimately as an artist.

「 neutral  」   at times though, it's because of his strong sense of responsibility and dedication towards music, s, and his fans that cause him pressure and, therefore, occasional cases of burnout. due to his perfectionistic tendencies, jihan can be harsh on himself with self-criticism, and although it can be constructive in certain situations, it can also lead to high levels of stress that make him extremely tense and frustrated. whenever this happens (which isn't often but still does occur), he needs someone who can convince him to relax, take a break, and maybe even go out for a few hours to clear his mind.

jihan is also prone to crying easily, something he completely hates because he ends up crying even when he's trying really hard to resist. some say it's these kinds of things behind the scenes that many fail to see but actually reveal a hidden depth about jihan, and despite his image as someone who's almost always calm and collected, he's still only nineteen and that's something the other members come to realize and appreciate as time goes on.

「 negative  」   at first glance, jihan can come off as standoffish or rude, especially with his nearly perpetually stoic or emotionless, even almost intimidating expressions. while he's not exactly brash, he's very straightforward in nature, and it can be interpreted as honest by some and disrespectfully blunt by others. despite this, jihan never has ill intentions as he just has a tendency to say what's on his mind or merely reacts to some people in certain manners as a habit due to his close relationship with them (ie. naturally bickering with yohan), but nevertheless he does have some antis who twist this and use it to their advantage. 

jihan also has a tendency to doubt people and, honestly, most things in general at first glance. while this can mean that he's just not gullible, it can also mean that he doesn't have much faith in certain people when it comes to certain tasks or ideas. of course though, his instinctive skepticism doesn't mean that he's constantly paranoid towards everything and everyone; instead, it just means that he's not easily persuaded or convinced to do or believe something or someone for (usually) a logical reason. if anything, jihan trusts himself the most because he knows he can complete tasks and responsibilities promptly and efficiently, which ultimately benefits everyone as a whole. 

lastly, jihan's seemingly cold and distant demeanor gives him a somewhat unapproachable aura, even if he has a very boyish, baby-like face. despite his usual poker face and no-nonsense attitude, he's actually a very caring person. jihan's taken care of his family before, specifically junsoo and jihye whenever they've been stricken with the flu or food poisoning and the like, and there's no doubt that he'll take the initiative to cook comfort foods like soup and chowder if/when his fellow members fall ill too. sure he may still be the usual nagging jihan while he's at it, and perhaps he won't have the best 'caretaker vibe' either, but jihan's a good person at heart, even if he doesn't fit most people's image of the typical nice boy-next-door kinda guy.

born in busan but raised in seoul after his parents relocated to open their family restaurant, jihan grew up in a middle-class family that was comfortable enough to afford things like shopping trips and the latest electronics, but not enough for luxury cars and overseas vacation trips. his parents did, however, have the financial capability of cultivating their children's cultural and intellectual abilities. like his siblings, jihan was enrolled into private piano lessons at 7 and violin lessons at 8, but unlike his siblings, he actually enjoyed the lessons and looked forward to returning each and every week. it wasn't long before music became something he really cherished, and in fact, it was around the age of 9 when jihan began aspiring to be a professional concert violinist. 

as time passed and he entered middle school, jihan continued to hone his musical abilities in piano and violin, attending lessons and recitals year-round. while he wasn't very social or active at school, many knew he was musically talented and therefore invited him out during the weekends despite knowing he'd probably decline anyways, considering jihan usually kept to himself in class and headed off to the music room to practice after lunch. even as someone who kept to himself though, jihan was never really disliked by his classmates, and instead most considered him as just a quiet person who was really talented with music.

although jihan had always liked the thought of learning how to sing, it wasn't until his second year of middle school (about age 14) when jihye dragged him to support her and her friends in their high school talent show did the idea of becoming an idol pique his interest. his older brother, junsoo, had never really been interested in attending them during his time in high school, but with his sister jihye's outgoing and daring nature, she and her friends had decided to join for fun. it was from being dragged to the talent show that jihan was able to see all the entertaining performances that differed from the usual orchestra concerts and piano recitals, and before he knew it, he was laughing and cheering alongside his older brother and the crowd. the energy, the rush, the adrenaline - it wasn't something he's ever really experienced before because he rarely went out to concerts or festivals - but even now he remembers all the fun and thrill a high school talent show offered that a piano recital couldn't, and it was because of this that led to vocal lessons and eventually the aspiration of becoming an idol. 

by the time jihan was in his final year of middle school (age 15), it was no question that he had already decided to pursue becoming an idol. with the help of his siblings, his parents had come to fully accept and support him, and even the family he had in other parts of korea and even overseas sent him supportive videos and gifts to cheer him on. it came to jihan as a surprise then when he found out a cousin he's only met once or twice before had also thought about becoming an idol - han youngjae, known as 'yohan' to most, was his name, and he'd apparently been part of a popular dance studio and cover group in australia. the two hadn't known each other very well at the time, but when jihan was told by his parents that yohan would be moving to korea to live with them and train/audition with jihan, all he could think of was "what's the worst that can happen?"

in hindsight, jihan should've known better because it wasn't long before they grew close to the point of knowing each other like the back of their hand, but only while bickering along the whole way and eventually even being known as the "tom and jerry" duo. nevertheless, jihan helped yohan adjust to living in korea and tutored him in both korean and any other difficult subjects. despite being a year apart in age, jihan and yohan were enrolled into high school together at hanlim multi art school in seoul, and it was that first year that they both auditioned for LEVEL1 Entertainment and were accepted as trainees soon after.

in a nutshell, jihan is 110% done with yohan and his and is almost always contemplating how in the world they're related. despite this, yohan is probably one of the closest people to jihan in the group (if not, the closest) given they're cousins and have known each other the longest in comparison to the other members. it also helps (or maybe doesn't) that they both joined LEVEL1 as trainees at the same time, meaning they both understand the hardships and struggles that come with being a trainee and rising idol, but they know that they can count on each other during the hard times even if jihan is constantly at yohan's throat every other second.

junsoo is probably the only family member, at least besides their parents, that jihan can stand to be stuck in an elevator with and who won't make him question his existence every other second. as the responsible eldest child, junsoo has always looked out for jihye and jihan (and eventually yohan), encouraging them to be social and to work hard in school. junsoo was actually the first person to know jihan wanted to be an idol, and after persuading the latter to tell the rest of their family, junsoo was also the person who helped their parents accept and allow jihan to become an idol rather than just sing as a hobby. along with jihye, he's probably one of jihan's biggest stans (yes, he actually says stans) and is always bugging jihan with texts like "make sure you guys eat well!!!" and "remember to get me their autographs for christmas!!!"

with personalities that contrast quite sharply and a relatively small to boot, jihan and jihye are often seen bickering whenever in contact (although jihye gets along very well with yohan). as a result, jihye usually sides with yohan much to jihan's dismay, and thus he's often dragged into their shenanigans and is forced to clean up whatever mess the two make. despite jihan's tom-and-jerry relationship with his sister though, it's clear that he really does love and respect her at the end of the day even if she does tease and intentionally bug him at every given opportunity. also, to say that she's one of K1NGSMAN's first and biggest fans would probably be an understatement because she's practically always up-to-date with news and upcoming events, but nevertheless don't tell her junsoo is his favorite sibling oops

–  although jihan got into music at the age of 7, it wasn't until he was 14 that he started taking private vocal lessons with the intent of becoming an idol. he also practiced often in the music room during breaks in school from middle school up until high school, covering songs in private and recording them to see where there were mistakes and how he could improve. jihye and yohan, however,  later convinced him to upload the videos onto youtube when they found out about his private recordings. after finally giving in and uploading his best covers, jihan gathered a decent-sized fanbase for someone who hadn't made a name for himself yet, and this partially contributed to the growing excitement about the group's debut.

–  he learned how to dance from his cousin, yohan, after the latter moved in with his family. most of the time it was dance covers of popular korean songs, but yohan did teach him two or three choreography routines learned during his dance studio days. similar to jihan's song covers, they also recorded their practices to improve on mistakes, and yohan ended up posting some online as well to get their name out there. while jihan might not be main dancer material, practice makes perfect and eventually, he becomes good enough to have one of the official minor dance positions upon debut.

–  as for how he began composing and songwriting, it was actually through interacting with the other trainees that he began to develop an interest in producing music - granted, the songs he do compose are more instrument-based rather than with technology and synthesizers, but later on it's this collaboration between jihan's style of composition and the other members' following debut that allows K1NGSMAN to produce some very well-liked music. as for songwriting, while jihan isn't the best at expressing his emotions and enthusiasm in general, he's very eloquent with words when written, and as time passes, it's almost as if he was naturally gifted with songwriting because many of his works are very emotional, very feeling-invoking, and it's through his lyrics that jihan shows a more expressive side of himself.

–  in truth, jihan had long heard of LEVEL1 from before since the company had released a few groups before, and while all but one haven't had their breakthrough yet, jihan had honestly liked the songs released by them. he was first officially introduced to them personally though when he and yohan had attended a music festival in seoul and yohan had dragged them over to booths were company scouts and representatives were stationed. 

–  it was actually thanks to youngjae that both he and jihan applied for LEVEL1, with jihan's reason being that he felt the amount of artistical freedom he could have there would be much more than what he could have at bigger entertainment companies. jihan didn't just want to become an idol - he wanted to become an artist who could help compose music and maybe even learn how to write lyrics, and it was because of this why he auditioned for LEVEL1 before ultimately being accepted and successfully becoming a trainee at the company.

–  at first, jihan had a harder time adjusting to life as a trainee than his cousin did, with him having many more things to worry about such as grades and occasionally helping out with his parents' restaurant. because of his reserved nature, he wasn't quick to reach out to the other trainees, at least initially. thanks to youngjae and many of the other outgoing trainees, however, jihan gradually began to talk more and unknown to him, some of them would eventually become some of his closest friends.
