faceclaim.  kim seokwoo, rowoon (sf9)
back-up faceclaim.  kim younghoon (the boyz)
height.  190 cm (6'3")
weight.  73 kg (160 lbs)

appearance.  slender and tall, but that's the sole reason he would ever stick out through a stranger's eyes. joowon, for the most part, has a mellow demeanour. his hair hasn't been dyed before and for most days would be left down, only ever slicking his bangs out when he's going out on his free time. his skin is slightly tanned, just the way he likes it. there's a beauty mark on the left side of his chin, it's small but it's there. joowon also hasn't gotten a single piercing, so he doesn't wear any earrings.

fashion style.  joowon doesn't really find lots of opportunities to dress well now that he's a trainee in korea, it's all just dressing comfortably for training. though when he does go out to hang out with trainees, he can be seen in business casual attire (if they're not heading out right after practice). joowon just goes with the sweater with the collared shirt combo, paired up with either skinny jeans or with slim fit suit trousers. if it's warmer, he'd do with a blouse and cropped trousers. he does dress more casually on lazy days when he might just be strolling around seoul. since he doesn't have piercings his only way to accessorize is wearing watches, which is a bit embarrassing for him to do because they're high-end. he feels overdressed if he puts them on (more than he already is), but he tries to wear them every once in a while since they're gifts from his family. overall, he tries to dress neatly.

description.

[ quiet, nurturing, cooperative, passionate ]
– Joowon trails behind with a smile while the other trainees celebrate the end of their monthly evaluation, nodding along to their comments. His presence does not demand the attention of others compared to other trainees. He is quiet not because of the volume of his voice when he speaks, but because he is a person who doesn't talk for the sake of talking. He won't pull a random topic out his just to hold a conversation on if there's nothing to discuss, so that would leave other people to start doing the talking and prompting him to just listen and react. Otherwise, he can deal with the silence. Make no mistake, in time, Joowon may get invested in the conversation and speak just as much as the others. If it's a discussion or debate at hand, people will know Joowon has something to contribute once he opens his mouth.
– "But did you see that smile the vocal coach gave you when you finally belted?" A trainee excitedly nudged his friend who, in turn, grinned in pride. The boy instinctively turns to Joowon, "Couldn't have done it without Joowon's help." Joowon smiled, "You worked hard, kid." It comes naturally for him to look out for others and bring out the best in them, especially when he knows he can help. He's the one of the older trainees around, so he wants to be able to be a dependable figure to the younger guys. Joowon genuinely cares for the growth and wellbeing of his fellow trainees as performers and as people, as a group and as individuals. He never sees helping them out as a chore, no matter how much time he gives to do so.
– In a team setting,  Joowon seamlessly adapts and communicates well with others. Perhaps it's his determination and passion that makes it easy for him. While others do look to him for help, he's always open to listen to what people have to say and encourages opinions to be given and received. Although he can keep to himself at times, he really loves working with others and doing his part as one of the team. Joowon sees to it that things are going smoothly between people. Working towards a goal with the efforts of others makes it all the more fun and rewarding to him. Those are the times when his mind will be set and active.
– And well, it's no wonder why he's so initiative when it comes to performing. Joowon puts his heart into the work he does. When he catches interest in something, he tends to throw himself into it and learn as much as he can. This can either range from nailing the new choreography down to meticulously scrolling through the Asgard page after watching Thor. Joowon's also quite passionate when it comes to facts, thoughts, and opinions and loves to discuss (which could escalate into a hysterical argument). If there's a topic at hand that he likes, whether it's about Marvel or Tchaikovsky, Joowon will talk until ears fall off.

[ competitive, analytical, fickle ]
– This often fueled his competitive side. It originated from when he was young, when he performed at recitals with other promising pianists and violinists. At an early age, Joowon was self-aware of pushing for improvement and developed a determination to not fall behind with his skills. This competitive nature has carried on into other regards such as participating in sports or in games. People notice that he gets carried away and has that glint of excitement in his eyes. It's common to see Joowon scoping out the competition and mapping out what actions should be taken.
– His parents always had a keen ear and eye when it came to the arts. Joowon learned to pick up certain details from them, being quick to recognize how the arts carry out nuances of symbolism. As someone who's adept in music theory, Joowon is used to breaking things part by part and studying them even if it's not for his benefit (whether it's music related or not). He likes noting minimal yet significant details that the creators have put into their work. Finding the unique touches people put inspires him to do the same.
– With all the ideas swirling in his head, Joowon tends to bounce between them. He has so much he wants to do that it almost becomes overwhelming. It's not unusual for him to be in a state of conflict and exasperation at himself as he starts another project upon a pending project. This not only pertains to his work but in the dorms as well. One moment he'd be offering to help out with the cooking but when the time comes, he's reassigned himself to just sweeping the floor.

[ scatterbrained, clumsy, lighthearted, generous ]
– Joowon and the rest of the trainees make their way to a nearby restaurant. It's getting dark and he's distractedly staring at the stores at the other side of the street. If Joowon is not fixated on something, then the other times he'll have his guard down and let his mind wander. It's almost like his brain cells are all dedicated to just music and performing. Tell Joowon how to use the dishwasher once, and he'll smile saying he heard words being spoken but did not process them. At this point, the others are used to having to tell him things twice. With the tendency to be distracted ("Oh! Look at that cat-"), it usually lands him in some sort of trouble, whether it's losing the others in public or-
– A street light post collides against the side of Joowon's head. Fits of laughter burst out along with bewildered questions from non-witnesses. "Ow.." Joowon sheepishly smiled, recovering quickly and placing his hand over the aching spot. Most, if not all, his clumsy moments are caused by his lack of concentration. This is not the first time he's collided against some kind of object in the street (nor will it be the last). It's also typical to see him topple off of chairs or fall down the last three steps of the stairs. Unless he's in sight, nobody ever notices that he's hurt himself until they turn around and see that he's already recovered and is holding a body part in pain or is dusting imaginary dirt off his clothes. He's pretty quiet when these things happen to him because he's learned to accept his fate and barely yells out in pain or surprise.
– Joowon laughs it off and laughs even harder when the kids imitate the incident. He always takes the others' teasing and mischief with stride (unless, of course, they cross over to a personal/harmful boundary). When hanging out, he's never tense around people and speaks with ease. He never misses a beat when it comes to jokes and would join in on the fun, sometimes even encouraging mischief ("And maybe this is why you aren't the leader-"). Joowon is also comfortable in speaking and representing for a group of people. His tone is lighthearted but his delivery is self-assured.
– As they sat themselves down, Joowon quickly calls out, "Tonight's dinner is on me!" This prompted some excited cheers and some worried, modest protests. "Nobody can say no, you guys worked hard." Joowon asserted as he scanned the menu. Now, he doesn't mindlessly spoil people without personally knowing them. He's fully aware that he should keep an eye out for those who may take advantage of him, and he does. But Joowon sometimes has the lamest excuses to let the others allow him to pay ("You're the baby, let me pay for your shoes."). Ever since he was a kid, he had a good nature and would share things knowing that he has more than others. Joowon doesn't like sitting there watching others scrape up the money they have when he knows he can easily help them out.

[ filial, apprehensive, restless ]
– They had a good time that night, just talking and discussing about their hopes and goals. Joowon is back in the dorms along with the others, but when he looks at his phone, his little sister is calling. He immediately picks up and the screen shows her face, "Julien, you won't believe what happened today." A fond smile forms on his face. To his family, he is the son and brother who'd sacrifice and compromise his own life for them. Joowon loves them, constantly inquiring of their wellbeing. Later on, the group members would be seen as his second family. Joowon would do anything for them even if it meant he had to endure the weight by himself. He can't control this urging sense of duty to shoulder the burden so that others can live easily. In time, not only will Joowon be the dutiful son and brother, but also a father figure of some sort.
– For Joowon, he can care too much. What if he screws up the group? What if he isn't there when something bad happens to his family in Germany? He overthinks and often gets guilt-ridden for things that he shouldn't be guilty for. He knows that there are people who put their trust in him and rely on him. There are moments when he's thinking to himself and gets hyperaware of the pressure on him. His family believed in him enough to embark on a career path unique to their own, he didn't want them to regret their choice. The kids are also depending on him, even if they tend to mess around with him at times (most of the time). Joowon, as co-leader, wants to put a strong front as he is the group's pillar along with the leader. He traps himself within his own expectations of what a son, brother, and co-leader should be and frightens himself with the possibility of failing to fulfill them.
– That often leads to prolonged, lonely nights of him slaving over dance routines, compositions, and singing. In the times he gets anxious over the pressure, he starts to become critical of himself. This bridge doesn't sound right. That run isn't good enough. This move wasn't done gracefully, repeat it again- As the days tick by, it's like the overnight practices are barely securing him emotionally anymore. But, God, he has to stay strong. He can't falter. Joowon hides his nauseating uncertainty behind a smile as his sister seemingly looks away from the phone, "I have to go now, Julien." He nods and gives a little wave, "Okay, love you." "Disgusting.." She remarks, but the sheepish look in her eyes tell him otherwise. He has to succeed. Joowon wanted to be on this path, and he won't turn on his heel and walk back now.

background.

Joowon was born as Julien Gong to classical pianist Gong Noori and soprano Moon Heejin in Berlin, Germany on June 30, 1997. Five years later, his little sister Clara Gong was born. Both parents were internationally renowned for their talents and met when they studied at the Berlin University of the Arts. His maternal grandfather, Moon Ilsang, was known for some of his compositions in Europe after he had settled into Germany with his family. It was safe to say that music was deep-rooted into Julien's life.

Since he started remembering, his whole life had been about private lessons and recitals. As a little kid, there was always something that he had to work towards. His parents were not quick to praise, making sure their children put hard work before they deserved any. At the age of four, he started playing the piano. At the age of seven, the violin. Classical voice training was added among those lessons by the age of 8. His interest in music was nurtured through the performances his parents took him along to attend. He was taken to see ballets, musicals, orchestra concerts, and many more.

Joowon was raised in a comfortable home. His parents always made sure to make time for their children and would try to teach their children themselves as much as possible. The two siblings never felt that they were short of anything and felt loved (and spoiled). They never had to do any work around the house due to the live-in maids that were hired to look after them and the house. The siblings simply saw them as their nannies and treated them no differently than they would with relatives. In their home, the siblings spent a lot of time together. Besides talking to each other and playing around, they sang together to pass the time.

Together, the two were classically trained in singing and did well in school. They excelled in their academics, but the performing arts took up most of their thoughts. It was when Joowon was aged 10 when he comprehended his parents' fame and wealth thanks to their career and their ownership of multiple venues under their organization (of which his father is the founder and president, his mother a director). This was due to a small quarrel that had happened between a presumed friend who nearly bullied him into handing him some of his belongings in order to remain friends. One of the maids interfered and sent off the child on his way. Joowon wasn't hurt from this. It did make him mindful that there were people out there with no pure intentions. It was a lesson learned.

His parents noticed that he didn't have quite many friends at school, so they ended up enrolling him into an orchestra and choir in hopes of befriending others there due to common interests. The orchestra and choir were under the tutelage of a performing arts center his parents co-founded along with good friends of theirs. It was dedicated to teaching the community multiple forms of art. There, they hoped that their son would learn to communicate with others, learn to work with them, and lend a helping hand to those who were new to music.

11 year old Joowon was reluctant. He always learned and did things by himself but with time, he soon appreciated working hard with others and getting to know them. He loved using his skills to help others improve and felt a sense of accomplishment. Joowon ended up getting exposed to other music genres thanks to the people he met. He remained in the orchestra and choir as he got older and still balanced the private piano, violin, and singing lessons. His sister also continued to take singing lessons but soon took up ballet instead of picking up an instrument.

Joowon was 14 years old when he overheard his orchestra members attempting to transcribe a song during their break. He went over and ended up offering his help. When he listened to the song, it caught his full attention. He heard about kpop, but he never took it upon himself to check it out. The song was Love in the Ice by DBSK. Though he hadn't transcribed before, he decided to finally try his hand at it due to his interest in the song.

He soon checked out song after song, group after group. It was different from his own world of music, and that drew him further in. It was unfortunate that DBSK had split before he could know them, but shortly after he had another group to admire. EXO released teasers in a painfully long duration of time, but when they dropped What is Love and History, he started imagining what it would be like to be an idol too. Joowon liked how differently the idols shined.

At this age, his parents began taking him around and showing him the workings of their organization. They didn't say it explicitly, but he knew that they wanted him to take up their business in the future. Joowon did his best. His parents did nothing but give him all they could offer since he birth. He felt obliged to follow in their footsteps. But as the years went by and as he learned more of the job, the more he looked over to the idol career path. When he got older, his parents started speaking of the hopes of their son continuing their work. They assured him saying he could still have a career as a classical musician while they could help him out on getting accustomed to the business and build his way up, but.. that wasn't the kind of career he wanted anymore.

During a short trip to Korea to visit his paternal side of the family, he ended up getting scouted while he roamed around Seoul. It was LEVEL1 Entertainment. Joowon carefully approached his parents about it and they realized that they hadn't given their child a chance to choose for his own and had just assumed without his input. Although they were slightly disappointed that he chose to go on another path, it was still music.

He auditioned but he didn't get a call until his family had returned to Berlin. Joowon was offered a contract. He was 18, getting prepared to go into university. His parents gave him their approval, but he couldn't help but think about who he was leaving behind. His parents were greying. Their time as classical musicians has passed its peak, and it will only be a matter of time until they will soon grow weak and are unable to carry on their work for the organization. If he left, it would mean his then 13 year old sister taking on the task that was originally his. Little Clara, who only wanted to dance, was the one who would now feel obligated to follow up on their parents' work.

The siblings loved their parents and shared a desire to look after them in the future. They became aware of their remaining time when their parents submitted their wills. Clara stepped up to relief both her parents and her older brother of their worries. Though he was still slightly reluctant, he was grateful for their understanding and flew to Seoul on August 2015 to sign the contract and train. Getting accustomed to being called Joowon rather than Julien took a while, and the bustling city of Seoul was also another thing to get used to. Starting fresh into a different genre of music was odd, but Joowon wasn't going to let that stop him. No, not at all.

likes.
– stroopwafels: shipped to him from his family in bulk every few months. his go-to breakfast and snack if there's nothing else.
– honey butter chips: buys multiple bags for people in the dorm to also eat. he's more willing to share these more than stroopwafels since they're local.
– botanical gardens: gets to be distracted looking around and doesn't get in trouble for trailing off because that is the point of botanical gardens.
– marvel: specifically the mcu. joowon keeps track of all the movies that are slated to release and is aware of the theories that circulate in the fandom.
– seafood: crab, shrimp, scallops, salmon. all the good good.
– iced drinks: iced coffee? iced lattes? boba? yes.
– thrill rides: goes to every single one.
– classical music: well, it's the foundation of his life, yeah? joowon listens to this when travelling outside to a destination.

dislikes.
– using the subway system: literally cannot wrap his head around it. tries not to use it as much as he can.
– gore: nope. it makes him writhe in disgust and he has to stop himself from imagining himself in that character's position.
– black coffee/tea: tastes like disappointment and his face will also show disappointment.
– tea cup rides: spin that wheel in the middle and boy's gonna look passed out within half a minute.
– sleeping late: he looks at the time and he internally grumbles. will try to sleep as soon as possible.
– tense atmospheres: feels the need to smooth things out but may still feel tense himself. very tongue-tied if it's a big problem happening.
– empty praise: praise should be earned, not given out like how oprah does giveaways.
– dirty washrooms/bathrooms: a place where you want to be clean.. is dirty itself.

hobbies.
– transcribing kpop songs into piano or violin pieces.
– playing the violin or piano.
– surfing youtube.
– watching try not to smile/laugh videos.
– experimenting on the synthesizer.
– window shopping (usually tags along with people who actually shop).

habits.
– when laughing hard, he tends to throw his head back or keel forwards. this, half the time, results in his head getting hit against a surface (usually a wall). #ripjoowonsbraincells
– when stretching he tends to make this hybrid noise of a squeal and a squeak.
– his knee jerks up whenever he sneezes.
– hums the super mario bros. theme when idly carrying out a task.
– pacing around and whispering the conversation he's having with himself. if he's deep into his thoughts, it's always going to be in german.
– when embarrassed, he tends to cover his.. ears. don't ask him why because he doesn't know either.
– when listening to a new song, joowon analyzes it on the spot as it plays, pointing out the elements that are being used (like how ReacttotheK does).

fears.
– geese: joowon got chased by them when he was a kid. he even heard their beaks clamp shut right behind him as he ran away. when he comes across them now, the ultimate staredown occurs (but really, he's ready to run).
– revolving doors: he keeps getting intrusive thoughts of getting his limbs crushed in between, so he avoids them as much as possible.
– failure: just like anyone else. what if he isn't good enough? he's afraid that those who know of his parents and their talent may express their distaste towards him for being incompetent in comparison to his parents. 'perhaps he should've just took on his parents' organization rather than chase a stupid idol dream' or 'his parents built him up to be so much more yet he's wasting away their efforts to be in some kpop boy group.' he's afraid these comments would reach his family and in turn make them feel dismayed.

special talents.
– while he specializes in the piano and violin, joowon can play the guitar (proficient), the trombone (basic) and the flute (basic). he learned through trial and error as he had played around with them on his free time back in berlin and during training. he got spontaneous lessons from people who were willing to help. joowon learned both the trombone and flute for fun.

[ he's familiar with the guitar due to some of the basic fundamentals being shared with the violin. joowon uses it for vocal practices if not the piano. this was an instrument he actually improved on while training as he met guitarists in the company (guitars weren't used in the orchestra). ]
[ the trombone comes second as although it's an easy instrument, he's barely had the reason (nor time) to practice it lately. it kept him preoccupied as it was easy and fun to play, often learning and playing movie themes (star wars, lord of the rings, harry potter, etc.). he may or may not have gotten in trouble for fooling around and pretending it was a bazooka back then. ]
[ the flute comes last in terms of skill for the same reason as the trombone and is slightly more difficult to play (therefore he gravitated towards the trombone out of the two wind instruments). he knows how to play pieces that beginners start with, though there might be some slip-ups here and there due to the lack of practice and familiarity. ]

– outside the languages he can speak, he can sing in spanish, italian, and latin. does he understand half of what he's singing? no, but he's got the pronunciation on point.
sight-reading. "i can probably do it with my eyes closed!" ".. oh, wait."
imitating facial expressions. give him a picture with the weirdest expression and he'll do it perfectly. not his proudest talent, but if it gets people to laugh then that's fine with him.

trivia.
a heavy sleeper. can sleep anywhere, can sleep through anything. everytime he knows he needs to be up, he kicks the blanket off of him to force himself off the bed. has once slept through a fire alarm thinking it was just the alarm clock.
sleeps on his stomach, so when he naps others may see him with pillow marks on his face.
really ticklish. you can go ahead and tickle him but joowon will also take that as permission to take any measures to stop you.
if drinking tea or coffee during his free time, he likes to blast four seasons by antonio vivaldi. makes him feel fancy as hell.
– enjoys debates, but is most often found in heated arguments over trivial matters. "no, bungalows can have more than one floor!" "waffles are superior! you can control where the syrup goes!" "tom holland is the best spiderman-"
used to hate public speaking. eventually, he got so used to it that he gradually stopped caring. now, ironically, joowon is one of the best among the members when it comes to speaking.
– to ensure joowon doesn't fall hard in case of any shortcomings, his parents financially support him by sending him money monthly. he tried to decline since most of his necessities and accomodations were already provided, but it made them feel more at ease while he's abroad. joowon mostly uses it on food, but he also uses it to help others out since some aren't as fortunate.
– to this point, joowon has never brought up his wealthy background nor his parents. no conversation has ever led to the point of talking about wealth or his parents' successful careers, so why should he talk about it? some trainees suspect he's got money considering the times he's treated them out, but they hadn't found the opportunity to confirm.
– for some reason joowon thought it would be funny to pretend he at playing the piano in front of the trainees by only playing chopsticks and the easiest duet part of blue moon (and occasionally even butchering them on purpose). he was able to keep the act for a whole month until he slipped up by correcting one of the trainees' finger placements while he watched them play.
can tune almost any instrument. guitar? gotchu. violin? easy peasy. harp? alright! piano? suuuuure.. *runs off because it's too much work* *will do it with some bribing here and there*
besides his family, he misses the orchestra and the choir. joowon grew up with them so it was only natural that he would. some may realize that when he plays the violin, it sometimes sounds as if it isn't meant to be played by itself. those times are when he's playing his section's part in the orchestra, the times when he finds himself missing them.
not the best at chores (due to his upbringing), but he puts all his effort into learning and helping the other members out. he can do simple things like sweep and mop the floor, dust surfaces, and wash the dishes. joowon's really sloppy at cleaning kitchen appliances, cleaning the bathroom, and using the vacuum. he can help out with cooking, but somebody always has to show/tell him what to do. joowon can do the laundry but doesn't fold them efficiently. he has no problem grocery shopping, though.
– highly likely one of the main targets when it comes to pranks because he just doesn't ever pay attention enough to realize-
– aka the member who always gets clowned by the kids.
gives piggyback rides to the members.
– it's been a long running gag that everytime a minor inconvenience happens, it's somehow joowon's fault and is jokingly blamed for it.
– was that one kid in the orchestra who kept playing around with his violin bow and smacking it right into his own face. he still is.
got his driver's license in 2019 (but doesn't own a car, he just wanted to be able to drive if someone needed him to). it took some prepping due to him being accustomed to having a driver taking him around berlin (also, seoul is much more crowded and therefore was more stressful for joowon to learn how to drive).
singing role models: andrea bocelli, josh groban, il divo, ramin karimloo, exo's chen, tvxq's changmin, jyj's jaejoong.
favourite mcu characters: loki, peter parker, the maximoff twins.
potterverse houses: hufflepuff (hogwarts), thunderbird (ilvermorny).

joowon says.
– "hey, does the electric kettle go here?" "... that's for the blender."
"joowon, are you crying-" "i hit my eye with the bow again.." "..."
"ah-choo!" "gesundheit."
"ah.. ah-" "gESUNDHEIT." "oh my god- joowon, you just ruined my sneeze!"
– "everybody rise for the national anthem." ".. it's mirotic, though?" "yes, it's mirotic." "fair enough."
– "your ideal type is your fans? my ideal type is stroopwafel."
– "there are a group of little kids here, you think i'll set them off if i sing the first line of love scenario?" "not if i kill you first."
– "woah, woah! why are you guys yelling?!" "we're arguing about the best fried chicken chain!"
– "i saw you eyeing these headphones today, so i got them for you." "but, i.. i can't even pay you back." "i didn't say you had to. take them. your old headphones are getting bad, aren't they?"
– "i've been seeing you with those worn-out shoes for a month now, so i took matters into my own hands."
"how much did it cost?" "uhh, i don't know." "god, that's what rich people would say." "yeah, maybe."

people say about joowon.
– "joowon looks so confused.." "okay, but what's new?"
– *distant thud* "i don't even want to check."
– "joowon!" "joowoooon!" "JOOWON-" "dude, do you hear how crazy he's playing the violin right now? he's not gonna hear you."
– "god, i thought we had some ghost walking around doing demon incantations, but it was just joowon talking to himself in german."
*power outage occurs* "this is all joowon's fault."
*cooking pans banging* "joowon!" "i'm not even in the kitchen!"
– "joowon, are we turning left or right?" "yes." "you- oh my god, you weren't listening, were you?"
– "phones?" "check." "wallets?" "check." "co-leader?" "... uhh.."

the fellow trainees' unanimous superlatives about joowon.
– most likely to be murdered first in a horror movie.
– most likely to drop their phone on their face twice in a row.
– most likely to sleep through the apocalypse.
– most likely to be pushed over while tying shoelaces.
– most likely to try leaving the car forgetting their seatbelt is still on.
– most likely stupid enough to approach a murderous clown.

clara gong, gong haera (공해라) (18).  sister. secondary school student (gymnasium). arrogant, soft-hearted, materialistic, poised, diligent. 90%
– his one and only little sister. the spoiled brat, the stupid diva. joowon had always humoured clara's fascination over the extravagant things in life, though he keeps her in line without fail. he's the one who takes her arrogance in stride but also gently pushes her into a better mindset and approach. the only forms of affection they've done in the past years were hugs and linked arms. it's mostly due to clara not being able to express her love for her brother well. but joowon knows that whenever she makes a video call or visits, it's because she sorely misses him (though she'd deny it if he brought it up).
– joowon puts all his attention to her whenever she talks to him, it's the least he can do for leaving her behind in berlin and resulting in her having to step up in his stead. he often feels apologetic, but clara thinks that it's time for her to give back to joowon when he's been nothing but a good brother. with that in mind, she wills herself to become more selfless in exchange for her brother being able to be selfish for once and let him fulfill his own life. he never forgets to encourage her whenever he hears about clara working towards dancing under the berlin state ballet.
– on a lighter note, joowon loves teasing her, occasionally speaking in korean being fully aware that she was never quick with the language. this is often countered with complaints in rapid-fire german. just like they'd always been, clara takes the liberty of being able to talk to her brother about many things while he pokes fun at her for the sake of old times.
– "julien- i finally come and visit you and what do i see you wearing?" "uh, sweats..?" "yes, sweats. sweats! you're going to embarrass me in public, julien!" "you used to call me prince juju-" "w-what the- what does that have to do with anything? oh, shut up! stop laughing!"
– faceclaim: pristin's xiyeon.

yoon jihan (19).
group member. idol. responsible, honest, emotional, skeptical, short-tempered. 75%
– the reliable kid. joowon's 18% sure that jihan would kill him in his sleep. joowon was originally awkward with how he should act with jihan, but further interaction and observation allowed joowon to become comfortable. side by side, it seems like jihan is the one who has to take care of the older. he barely bats an eye when joowon hurts himself anymore, but he always helps him up if needed (while nagging him to pay attention for the nth time). joowon always turns to him whenever he needs help with the chores, but of course, paired up with that typical sheepish smile of his. joowon's really thankful for the things jihan does and tries to let him know verbally and through asking him if he needs anything every once in a while. jihan slightly reminds joowon of clara due to his subtle ways of caring.
– "jihaaan!" ".. why are you smiling like that?" "i need help in the kitchen." "why are you even there in the first place? what are you making?" "i wanted to try making omurice." "that's beyond your level. god, fine, i'll help you out before you can burn this place down." "thank you, jihan! you know i love you, right?" "whatever-"
– faceclaim: wanna one's jihoon.

yohan han, han youngjae (한영재) (18).
group member. idol. sociable, good-hearted, carefree, impulsive, needy.  85%
– his squish, his child. when yohan came along about a year later, joowon became attached to the boy. it was thanks to yohan that he was able to get comfortable with jihan. he finds yohan's dense and flirty moments endearing and encourages him, much to jihan's dismay. yohan's usually the first to clown joowon, whether it's pranking him or just pointing and laughing at him when he sees joowon fail to sit on a chair and fall flat on his . joowon pulls spontaneous pranks on him as payback, but it's all in good fun. people are used to seeing joowon carrying yohan on his back or letting him sit on his lap (this is where the dad 2.0 title shows). joowon had the tendency to call him by his english name even before they debuted because it sounds like a korean name- joowon taking one second to remember yohan's korean name would look like that typical moment where one parent is trying to pinpoint one of their children's name ("uhh... " "huh?" "ah, youngjae!").
– "yohan, you should at least try to do laundry every once in a while!" "nope." "yohan-" "alright. heads, i win. tails, you lose." "fine!" "haha-" "wait- damn it, i take that back!" "too late! i'm not doing laundry~"
– faceclaim: nct's jaemin.

gabriel chae, chae gun (채 건) (22).
group member. idol. capable, humorous, paternalistic, critical, repressed. 90%
– a friend he feels as if he grew up with. they joined the label around the same time and since both of them were foreigners, they naturally stuck to each other and bypassed the age hierarchy. joowon admires gun for the hard work he puts and is a mixture of both impressed and concerned over his work ethics. in the moments where gun is absent, joowon would step up with a smile on his face and get people encouraged and motivated. while he's relatively more gentle, it'd be a mistake to think he'd be less strict ("let's work hard so gun doesn't have to worry a lot, okay? he does so much for us!"). it's quite mind-boggling that they were both new and were still on the younger side among the trainees. four years later, they've matured quite a good deal and now have younger trainees to look after. they've got each other then, and they have each other now. joowon's glad that gun will be there to be the hand to grab when he falls, both literally and figuratively.
– "don't your arms get tired when you use dual pillows for our pillow fights?" "the pain of my enemies invigorate me!" "the sausage pillow is superior, long range for the win-" "hmm?? sorry, was it superior when i chucked my pillow square in your face? your sausage pillow is filled with flaws-"
– faceclaim: kim donghan

hyeong hanwi (형한위) (23).
group member. idol. maternal, independent, straightforward, compulsive, tough. 60%
– joowon doesn't know hanwi too well, at least not on a personal level. as trainees, it was a given that they'd spend time practicing together frequently. it was quickly made to his awareness that hanwi does not mince his words. he is another trainee who took up the parent role but adapted a relentless way of improving others. while joowon was initially upset over his behaviour, he does see the truth in his words. he sees to it that hanwi's tough love is recognized as it is, helping others by making sure they don't get stressed by the criticism. as the other parent figure, joowon swoops in to enforce what must be improved as hanwi said, sticking by the trainee's side and guiding them with a gentle but unwavering persistence for progress. and well, joowon isn't exactly exempted from hanwi's words either. he's always reminded of how helpless he is around the dorms (and fully acknowledges he would highly likely suffer if he were to fend for himself). well, he's working on it. sorry for the trouble, hanwi-
"what's joowon doing in the kitchen?!" "i'm making omurice!" "from what i'm seeing, jihan's the one making  omurice, not you!" *ladle swinging intensifies*
– faceclaim: seventeen's seungcheol.

gong noori, moon heejin.  parents.  president, director. 89%
– joowon looks at them with a lot of love whenever they have video calls. with that attention and care comes a deep unease. joowon glances at their hair while he smiles and listens to them. their hair used to be black, but the signs of aging took over. they haven't visited since 2018, they've been busy. busy with their jobs, furthering the organization's ambitions, busy with maintaining their lifestyle, and providing support for both clara and him. joowon could remember it like it was yesterday when his grandparents passed away years ago. it was going to be a matter of time when they too will be gone. they're going to tick into their 60s soon. he could only hope no illness will get them, though they do have a family history with cancer. joowon could wish for no untimely death, but there's never a guarantee. with the possibility of debut, who knows when he'll get to personally see them anymore?
– all that's left to do is savour whatever moments he has with them, even if it's through the phone screen. "love you, mom! love you, dad!"

"please, take care.."

   Congratulations, You're a K1NGSMAN

stage name.  julien
plotline.  concerto
position. co-leader, main vocalist, composer
persona.  the gentle giant - his nature to constantly look after the others and check up on the leader has earned him this title. his way of leading also reflects this. of course, the giant part of the persona comes from his own height.

training period.  four years, five months
trainee life.

– joowon began training under level1 entertainment on august 2015, right after he had finished his secondary education. due to that, he solely focused on training the whole time rather than go to university. joowon also stayed at the trainee dorms as a way to get used to the new people in his life (and the relatives at seoul? not so close, location wise and relationship wise). he could've gotten his own place, but he was going to end up living with other people when (if) he debuts. he might as well get used to it from the get-go.

– he could've tried out for any other company, but he thought it would be better to sign under a label that could give some artistic freedom. since he already had experience transcribing, he decided to get into composing. joowon branched out by listening to other genres and the many facets of kpop. he's much more adept in doing compositions using unedited instruments (usually the piano) and likes to team up with other composers who can incorporate the more modernized, electronic sounds into music. to the side, joowon does have small compositions using a synth to get himself out of his comfort zone.

– and although a skilled singer due to his private lessons, his voice wasn't accustomed for pop. joowon spent time finding an appropriate style for his voice and developing it. through the years he became comfortable and is now confident enough to do high notes in this new style. you won't see him do vocal acrobatics, though. besides building his voice to be stronger, he also worked on being stable since singing was his forte. people would see joowon do all kinds of methods to improve his stability. whether it was someone dropping a ball on his stomach while he laid flat on the floor singing, running and jumping while singing, or just doing the classic singing while dancing.

– joowon especially put in a lot of time into his dancing, being the least experienced in that category. he learned choreography well, but he was stiff and awkward. he took the initiative of learning other dance routines to the side and letting dancers watch and give him some pointers. joowon knew that in dancing, he was the weak link. four years later, he can keep up with everyone else. while he enjoys dancing, joowon's content with not being the weak link anymore and leaves the stunning dance moves to the, well- the dancers.

– getting used to korea was a natural process. joowon didn't stress himself too much about the new setting as he threw himself straight into training. he decided that he'd learn more of the culture he hasn't learned yet as it came. he was slightly awkward with the other trainees, but only because he wasn't used to talking in korean like the native speakers. joowon became fluent through exposure and in turn, became comfortable in the training environment. as the oldest, joowon naturally fell into an older brother role and looked after the younger trainees. he ended up being just like how he was in berlin, encouraging others and celebrating their improvement. joowon spoke from the heart with fire in his eyes. he reignited others with an infectious passion, not only to work hard for themselves, but together. perhaps that's how he lands himself with the co-leader title.

  "stroopwafel, my love."

matchmake!! :DD

faceclaim.  -
back up.  -
personality.  -

love story.

–  initial encounter: as trainees!
–  just like the others, joowon would have the tendency to look after him. perhaps a subtle quirk about him would allow joowon to grow fond of his LI. slowly, joowon feels at ease as he sees that he doesn't need to act like the co-leader with this guy all the time. they get to know each other bit by bit, and joowon is really appreciative when he speaks of his own family and sees that the LI is listening attentively. upon realizing his feelings, he tries to act the same as he is. joowon doesn't want to act too quickly and let things happen as they go.
–  affection all depends on the comfort level of the LI. joowon would like being close to him if possible, whether it's simply sitting closer together compared to the rest of the members or just blatant hugs and cuddles.

status.  group members!
ending.  uhh, just hopefully not their relationship in irreparable shambles?? ; u   ; that's all i ask-

relationship trivia.
– joowon's actually straight on the record. he's only ever liked girls so far (and hasn't ever dated). when his LI comes along, he accepts how his own feelings are (love is love, as they say, right?). he's not too worried about how people in his personal life would think and goes with the flow.
– back hugs for daaayz (as long as the LI is also comfortable!)
– would share his stroopwafels without a second thought. might even give him the last one in the box.
– would probably be really comfortable to share the compositions he's working on with him. his LI would be one of the first, if not the first, to hear them.

scenes requests.

–  in an airport, the group loses joowon and they go to the extent of having to find him with the help of the airport staff and the pa system.
– a member develops a habit of linking arms with joowon in public due to reoccuring incidents of losing joowon. can be l.i. or just a friendly member! (either way, it can make for a relationship development!)
– can lead to scenes where said member has to pull joowon away from distractions that could make him potentially lost again (it's almost like they're taking out a puppy for a walk-).
– joowon's clumsy moments now being used for comedic elements during variety shows and off-stage fancams.
– joowon and yohan being fools and posing while they zoom in on each other's faces with their cameras.
– the group discussing their respective roles and??? there's two dads and one mom. "am i the stepdad or??" "hanwi, who did you marry first?" "or are we in a polyamorous relationship-"
– hanwi and joowon bonding over classical music?? o u   o  ???
– joowon just showing off his classical singing skills-
– he gets his hands on a trombone and with another member they emulate the "when mom isn't home" meme for their social media. hanwi pops in and scolds them for slamming the oven door repeatedly.
– joowon slipping a hundred times when they're walking out and it's winter? and he almost slips again and a member jokingly hits him for almost falling for the nth time but the hit makes him lose his balance again- (basically jungwoo in ukraine when nct u filmed boss)
– maybe a member? who uses belgium's flag to represent germany while talking about joowon? and joowon's to the side keeping himself from laughing because of the mistake but he doesn't say anything. it was five minutes later until another member had to correct the poor boy (who was so confident).
– if he gets to be on hello counselor, maybe there's a concern that kinda hits close to home for joowon? like a sibling being the only person who is looking after their sickly parents while the other sibling wants nothing to do with them and hadn't been seeing them for a year despite living so close? and he starts tearing up as he gives his opinion on it (all the emotions he's kept to himself kind of just spill out).
